Re: India's Border Security with China and Pakistan-2020 - Part 2
I dont think India can use cluster bombs unless China uses it. Ground forces - yes anything goes. But air armaments - they will match China on heavy weapons IMO Are we matching the Chinese on artillery? If they open up & we don't have matching armaments, we will have to bring in the IAF (or suf...

Actually the best thing to come out of this is the fact that we are fighting an enemy in our weight category. Pakistan is relegated to a place where they belong - in the trash bin - in the mindspace of Indians. Bharat Karnad said in one of his speeches (I'm assuming its his own quote): "A natio...

I think the "they fired shots first" is not just a whine from the butt-hurt (which means we did something right), but is also an excuse to go up the escalation ladder. Typically, powers that wanted to start a war, create an 'incident' that they blame on the other side, so that their act of...

Agree with SSridhar. At a minimum, we should abandon acknowledgement of the One China policy. Logically, even without Tibet/Taiwan, why would we acknowledge this policy when they have been holding our territory for decades? The One China policy (especially when they don't demarcate their borders) is...

Is the 8 launch tubes for Arighat a typo?
12 K-15 or 4 K-4 means four launch tubes, unless they mean 12 K-15 plus 4 K-4! That'd be great news, but wouldn't it also mean that the loadout can be 12 K-4s potentially?

From an ISR perspective, this standoff presents a unique problem with hardly any parallels in the world. Just like with Kargil & 26/11. How we tackle this will be studied by other militaries. For starters: given the wide area of action, terrain and short time durations, satellite imageries will ...
