Actual requirement is of 1.5 lakh rifles just for air force.
Even if each base as 2-3 companies worth of troops, this number is very high for base security. Total number of troops in the force is 1.4 lakh or so. What will they do with 1.5 lakh assault rifles, or even 70 thousand for that matter?

Yes, all those helicopters and military vehicles need intensive maintenance by highly trained manpower. Even if they landup in pak, a lot of that stuff will need to be cannibalised to keep the rest running. Only problem is rifles, ammunition and other weapons.

INSAS LMG with CRPF.
BTW, what was the role of an INSAS LMG in a section or platoon with riflemen carrying INSAS rifles? Its magazines had only 20 or sometimes 30 rounds. Was it enough to provide good suppressing power?

Proper helmet, gloves, kneepad, BPJ, good rifle with optics and grip and two pens. It is amazing how long it took for this basic infantry kit to reach our soldiers.
