Re: Indian Military Aviation - 21 Sept 2015

According to Shukla's blog, only half (61) of the Jaguar fleet will get the Elta 2052. So the rest will get the 2032? It is also a bit disheartening that the engines havent been upgraded to the F125.

Re: International Aerospace Discussion

So a bespoke hybrid deal would be somewhat like the Rafale deal for the IAF? It seems on the surface atleast, that the Rafale works out cheaper than the SH. 36 aircraft + support + 50% offsets for 8.85 billion USD vs 40 aircraft + support for 10.1 billion USD?

Re: Indian Single Engined Multi Role Fighter with Transfer of Manufacturing Technology

All this talk of absurd numbers of foreign-built fighters leaves me with the question of whether all of this is just a pressure tactic on Dassault to give more goodies in exchange for more numbers? Dassault will not say no to more business and IAF is pretty happy with French fighters. If all this ta...

Re: Indian Single Engined Multi Role Fighter with Transfer of Manufacturing Technology

I have a conspiracy theory. The RFI is to make Aero India a success. This single engine fighter request will make aero India 2017 the best since 2003-2005 when we had F-15, F-16, Gripen, EF, Rafale, C-17, Beriev, Hawk, Su-30, Mig 35, F/A 18, LCA, IJT, Dhruv, C-130, Chinook. Maybe this time we will ...

I think when nukes start flying, the argument whether Rafales, Tejas or Sukhois are destroyed is rendered moot.

Re: Indian Single Engined Multi Role Fighter with Transfer of Manufacturing Technology

Nowhere, in all these articles, has the MoD/IAF officially given a statement. Everywhere is 'sources' and 'People familiar with the situation'. This whole drama started with Ajai Shukla claiming that something 'like an RFI' was given by the ambassadors to various aircraft manufacturing countries. No...

Re: Indian Single Engined Multi Role Fighter with Transfer of Manufacturing Technology

Does anyone have the link to the RFI? Otherwise we are debating all this based on one article by Ajai Shukla, without any official statement by the GoI. Finally, search begins for a fighter to replace MiG-21s - Dinakar Peri Within days of signing the deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets from France, ...

Re: Indian Single Engined Multi Role Fighter with Transfer of Manufacturing Technology

Does anyone have the link to the RFI? Otherwise we are debating all this based on one article by Ajai Shukla, without any official statement by the GoI. In fact, his article says this The confidential document sent by the embassies is not technically a “Request for Information” (RFI), which is a pre...

We are getting the SCALP. It should serve well as a stand off weapon, given that we have no weapons in that class in our inventory.

http://www.tribuneindia.com/news/nation/lca-manufacturing-facility-to-come-up-in-andhra/283353.html The headline says LCA manufacturing facility to be set up in AP. But the article makes some odd statements like weapons integration facility to manufacture Light Combat Aircraft and Wem Technologies P...
