Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions
Regarding Parrikars recent statements, here is what I can from a glean from a quick glance at the tea leaves. 1. IAF needs to fill a numbers gap quickly, based on their own requirements calculations. For this purpose, Modi and Parrikar agreed to 36 Rafale. I think that is going to be it for the next...

Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions
This is an excellent discussion about AOA and instantaneously turn rates. It seems that certian choices were made during the wing desing stage, to achieve high AOA and ITR without canards in a small, single engine aircraft. What I would like to understand is how these choices impacted other requirem...

Sorry. After writing that longish post, I went back and re-read Prof. Das's post. The one thing that he stressed is that 'pure delta' is a dead end. I know that LCA is a cranked delta but I am not sure what wing design he is suggesting? It would be interesting to evaluate alternate wings designs tha...

Re: LCA Tejas: News and Discussions
I have little knowledge of aerodynamics but this article by Prof. Produt Das seems superficial and flies in the face of many observations that have nothing to do with aerodynamics. What Prof. Das would like to see is a simple LCA bomb truck. Something like what the IAF wanted a long time ago. A post...

Austin, I don't think anyone is going to provide complete information on making jet engines no matter how much we are willing to pay. The only way to get our own engines is to stick with an indigenous program like Kaveri. Even AMCA may need a partially imported engine before India can get its gas tu...

Have you guys noticed the shape of the intakes in the Naval version of the MK2. They start in the same position as the Tejas MK1 but curve out towards the wings as they extend to the back of the aircraft. Was this to accommodate the landing gear and folding mechanism or to change airflow?

In the Kaveri saga thread, could you also post about "flat rated"? it appears to me that this was an excuse for poor performance and of questionable practical value.
