Re: UAVs, Drones, Remote Surveillance Tech
Slybird, Golden Hawk, Pushpak, Black kite and Indian eagle micro UAVs made by ADE-NAL are ready for production. Hopefully both MOD and MOH would provide large orders and induct these in numbers, IA and CMPF need these yesterday.. these eyes in the sky would lead to significant reduction in casualty...

As per Saurav Jha, the X-Band seeker being developed at RCI is for an anti shipping version of Nirbhay. It will probably be a Brahmos type multi variant seeker, both for land targets a la SCAN on Brahmos and naval targets. I believe the current seeker already has that capability. http://1.bp.blogsp...

Both are possible. Actually they did try to modify the engine of Akash from solid fueled to liquid fueled for longer range and finer control. But the last I heard about this was from the 2005 time frame. Most probably, it is for the long range supersonic cruise missile that DRDO is coming up with. ...

Paki US MRAP deal likely to win approval They've put forward the begging bowl for MRAPs..perhaps these are surplus stocks that the US was going to leave behind in Afghanistan. Wasn't India also supposed to be negotiating for the surplus MRAPs? Would've been useful in J&K.. There are about 5-6 d...

It appears that DRDL has called in a tender for supply of raw materials for a 350 mm dia Liquid Fueled Ram Jet missile combustor. That is about the same dia as that of Akash missile. http://www.drdo.gov.in/drdo/tenders/viewTender.jsp?paramMicro=7057 Either Akash-2 is liquid fueled, or we have a new ...

Regarding EO package, ADE has called out tenders for version 2 of Mk-IV gimballed EO Package deployed on Nishant UAV. Now we know that Rustom-1 will borrow its EO package from Nishant, so that makes this new EO payload vital for both Panchi and Rustom-1.

There is also the huge Police/Paramilitary market especially the Pistol/SMG category. The Home ministry recently bought a staggering 30,000+ guns(some report the figure at 60K+) from Beretta MX4 via direct import.
