Re: Indian Air Force News & Discussion - 23 March 2021

Now that 3/31 is gone, npo one wants to discuss why IAF gave back $ 3 billion (24,000 carore rupees) worth of capital budget back. Dereliction of duty? Will only buy foreign maal and nothing else, will force the country to the brink? These are next year's funds. Till March 31, 2024. They've dropped...

Human error. The chopper had an IFF system, it was off. However, it was on a special restricted corridor for safe travel. The battery commander asked a senior commander for permission. These are really old systems unless the rounds were procured as part of one of IA's emergency purchases and are relatively new. The SA-6 are quite old, were procured between late 1970s and early 1980's. Need replacement asap.

That's the indigenous production part. The earlier units would be mostly assembled from Russian parts. It's not that hard to estimate Brahmos numbers. They are higher than above but fairly modest, nothing like 5K - 8K-14K in service.

Tejas isn't a LO aircraft. It's RCS will be definitely in the 1-3 sq mtr or even more range, especially when fitted out with weapons etc. As long as we don't expose it's active EW suite & all it's radar modes, we are OK.
