OFB manufactured uniform fades out in three months! When I visited the unit recently, I found that the boys were buying uniform cloth of private textile companies from the Unit Canteen Contractor (baniyah as he is known). I myself bought a Jap cap from the baniyah and it is still a new as a whistle....

I can't say about the soldier since it would require greater IT education and yet let me tell you, though one may think they are duds, they are not. They have already mastered many things that when I visited the unit I thought was tough for me! I am sure with training, they will rise to the occasion...

1. Short take off and landing.
2. Capable of landing on semi paved/ unpaved/ PSP runways.
3. Capable of landing/ air dropping minimum of one company of combat ready troops and equipment.

RayC sir, I remember some study done by the US Army that showed that average army soldiers could hit a man-sized target at 300 meters distance only 10% of the time. I'll try and dig up the actual reference later. So changing rifles is not going to help much unless they change their training methods...
