JCage wrote:The two nation theory came about because of the inability of political Islam to coexist as a peer, not superior to non Muslims-
JCage: I agree with you but as Valkan noted OT.

If India were to adopt an explicit FU policy, it would be deterimental to our armed forces as that would give our leaders (some) one more reason not to invest in conventional force strength due the the sense of security (false, maybe) provided by a doctrine of first use. So, NFU is beneficial to our...

I read Jaswant's book. It is an OK read. I was expecting more on the Talbott-Singh round of talks, Shakti II, Kargil, Kandahar, Parakram et al but I guess for a BRFite one did have to go quite far to please the appetite. :)

Could anyone (Shiv perhaps?) give a brief review / opinion of Arun Shourie's The World of Fatwas ? Thanks in advance! If you ever wanted one single book that shoots it straight with irrefutable evidence and understand the entire gamut of relationships between the Fatwas, the sects, the Hadiths, the...

I am reading a biography of Mao by Jung Chang and Jon Halliday. This book has loads endorsements from the UK media. I find this book a little suspect, not because I do not believe all the scheming that Mao did but simply due to the lack of references to events. Does anyone here has some background i...

Shiv: I also think it is a mirage that the Jihadi fights for Islam alone. IRoP Jihadis are most motivated by their hate for India, Israel does not generate the same response in IRoP. For Hamas/Hezbollah it is Israel. OBL did not target Israel, but the US as in his eyes the US presence in KSA (his co...

From the civilizational viewpoint thousands of years of cuts has not kiled the civilization. The civilization won't die from these cuts. The only thing to do is to see how the civilization can be stopped from going underground or being subjugated as it has tended to do. Shiv: I am Hindu sindhi. Now...

Shiv - If a Pakistani Nuke is slipped to Jihadi hands, Pakistan will do it for one reason to blow an Indian city and deny its role behind it. We all know that this Islamism thing is hollow for the IRoP generals and the only plausible reason to blow a non-Indian location would be money. The problem i...

Taiwan isn't even remotely a parallel to this situation. Taiwan doesn't have nuclear weapons, of its own or proliferated to it by another power. Taiwan cannot threaten China with nukes, so of course it does not benefit the Chinese to blackmail the US with their nukes in order to gain any sort of ed...

US interests can never be identical with Indian interests, nor can there exist a truly equal partnership on any level. There is no reason to believe that Washington is all of a sudden going to renounce its mantra of 'US leadership' where this means a simple dictation to subordinates what their bit ...

plausible deniability  In the Indian sub continent Pakistan cannot make that statement and get away. It is the most stupid thing I have ever heard WRT a nuke. IF a nuke blows up in India, Pakistan goes down. IF Pakistan fires a nuke, China goes down. IF a Muslim organization has a nuke, it is ...

If India wants US interests to be in alignment with Indian interests, India has to be able to make a broad and deep connection with US interests around economic, security and geo-political interests. Values and righteousness takes a second seat. Only a deep relationship on those lines will ensure a...

Now some of us are saying that its the paki military which would sneak in a nuke. I say it was possible 3 or 4 years ago. A lot has changed in the past 3 years. A free nuke in Paki hands simply means a nuke in AQ hands. AQ needs a nuke to explode on those three nations than on India. All the peace ...

How long will this asinine state of affairs last, Lord alone knows. National Interests are most defined by officials in power, who perceive a nation's interests in a specific way. These interests are not necessarily long term, but how these are perceived to be in the "current" interests o...

What if a nuke/dirty bomb is sent to India and after the event the government in IRoP denies responsibility and claims loss of control? What does India do then? Forget the US, which is 7000 miles away - What about us? How will GoI react?
