Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

Thanks. I had not seen this one before.
This 252 (from 30L252) is the manufacturer construction number for the air frame which is different from the serial in service.
SB 141 was noted to have a cno of 30L246 at AeroIndia 2011, so my guess is that 30L252 ended up with a serial of SB 147 in service.

Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

Dennis, I have seen many MKIs of the 300 series like 311, 323, 324 etc and have not been able to deduce where this "dark gray bulb" is. Do you mind pointing this out by way of a comparison with a 1xx and 2xx series bird? thanks in advance. Interestingly, I don't have any links/pointers to...

Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

Another observation: mkis serialled 300 and higher seem to have a different avionics fit as well. I dont know the extent of the difference, but the most visible one is the rwr receivers on the wing leading edges. the older one have these buried in the wings or may not have them at all and the newer ...

Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

At least 10 sqs are on the mkis, per public info: 2,8,15,17,20,24,30,31,102,220.
SB 331 was the highest serial noted publicly, but that doesnt mean much - there are gaps in how the mkis are serialed.

Re: Indian Military Aviation- September 29 2013

In addition to what Indranil pointed out, on the Sitara: There are additional antennae on the vertical tail. That red capped thing, also on the vertical tail, near the leading edge tip. Looks too big for a light and I wonder if some basic RWR-type equipment is being put on these aircraft. It could a...

Re: Miscellaneous Pictures - Indian Military

The Jaguar is most likely an IM.
Its starboard gun port is not faired over and it is missing the RWR nose bumps, both characteristic of DARIN -II and -III.

Yes, and the C-17 appears to have a strange paint job. Why? PS (as Singha thinks)?

Re: Indian Military Aviation- Jan 10 2012

Just noticed this strangeness and not sure what to make of it - Why does this (and only this photograph shows this) new C-17 airframe of the IAF appear to have a poorly applied two-tone paint job?
Or is it an optical illusion of some sort?

Re: Indian Naval Discussion

Looks like INAS 312 is flying the newly inducted P-8Is!
Does anybody know if the Tu-142Ms were handed over to a different (newly raised?) Squadron or are there different flights within the same Sq operating the two types?

Cross posting from the Newbie thread.

A lot of basic Aerospace Engineering courses from profs at IITs and IISc are available online here:
NPTEL

Personally, I am amazed at the breadth and depth of the topics covered in these courses and we discuss some of these topics on a daily basis here on BRF.

AdityaEngineer, Please educate yourself a little more on CFD. And please re-read what Gurneesh has said carefully. NS equations govern *all* fluid mechanics. If a software can fully solve NS equations, it would be the best tool to use for all fluid dynamics purposes. No such tool/software exists tod...
