AESA seeker aperture are generally heavier than traditional seeker. So gimballed will make it even heavier. Our seeker is suppose to have 45 degree scan angle. Plus the data link providing position updates. One thing we have to remember is that bvr missiles fly with higher G compared to a fighter. S...

Re: INS Vikrant News and Discussion
The news that we have dropped plans to import the moth balled mig29 could mean that a decision has been taken to hand over vikrant's mig29k to IAF.
The testing of rafale and f18 seems to be a result of that decision.

We need a cheaper subsonic anti-ship & anti-land weapon. Probably a variant of Nirbhay with low-RCS frame. Brahmos should be reserved only for ship. Way to expensive against a land target. Our Achilles heel with all the long range weapons, have been the engine. We need to get the Manik engine wo...

We have a perfect setup of an MIC to run a gravy train in the name of National Security and prevent any worthwhile build up to respond to our adversary's action. The biggest issue we have with DRDO type setup is that no project/product improved version occurs without GQSR/ASQR and MoD project sanctions. Arm companies have the flexibility to bring out version after version, even if they don't sell it. This means when the services have a "sudden" nee...

750KM wala Brahmos. Excuse me for the nit-picking. But in true desi bania's ways...wasn't it supposed to be 800+ ? Notam was less than 780KM. So it must be the 750KM version. The key capability that we need to rollout is cooperative engagement. Something the F35 displayed along with Aegis. Here the target was detected and tracked by F35, outside of Aegis search zone and the SAM from the ship was cued to the target by F35. In our case a Su30/Netra detects a Paki target an...

The number of TRM on the MK2 radar is dependent on the power availability on the platform and the power rating of the TRM. GaN TRMs has higher power rating. A 20W GaN TRM, if used on MK1 Uttam would technically require only 370 odd TRM, instead of 740+. The radar will become half in size! So a Uttam...

I am not sure mmW seeker can be used as the primary seeker. mmW will not have the range required for a BM warhead. Higher the frequency, lower the range..
mmW will be used with the bomb-lets inside the warhead. I believe it is called ML-PGM, a variant of SANT.
