Ah! Jagan, The circumstances under which Gen Sardeshpane put in his papers is what needs to be considered. From what I have heard that alone puts him above the likes of some of the names you have mentioned.

The firing mode lever was a problem identified. It could be maintenance as you said but what the officer said to me was that the lever is too sensitive and even a slight movement leads to the rifle not firing. But i take your word for it. Let BEL first develope hand held GPS sets for the Infantry and particularly the CI ops troops. They have to procure these sets from the open market through their regimental funds. LEt BEL also develope Platoon level comm equipment.<BR>
