Would like to be proven wrong, but this doesnt look like a MANPADS at all. They are supposed to be easy to operate and proliferate. Look, identify, say AoA, fire.
Joysticks and electro optic suite would require skilled hands. Looks more suitable for anti armour role.

I dont beleive the reasons HDW has given for withdrawl.
More to do with their reluctance to invest in better battery tech, which Navantia and Korea might offer.
I wrote before, couple of pages back, even if one vendor offers Li-ion battery tech others have to follow suit to match the endurance.

We should try to salvage EOS 3 satellite and repurpose it for Astronomy. Its 70 cm aperture telescope for earth observation is bigger than Astrosat's 38 cm aperture telescope that is dedicated for astronomy. Plus the former is optimized for SWIR and Visible, while latter is for UV and visible range....

The success of EMALS is linked to General Atomics other business of making super capacitors.
They are aware of chemistry and physics to hold lot of charge together and discharge it in controlled manner.

IMO some private player can invest in super capacitors considering the booming EV market.
