Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

I agree with this logic. In fact I am vehemently opposed to even civilian airports in landlocked places like Bangalore. Civilian airports too should be placed near the borders where the aircraft are closer to the destinations they need to reach. Time, fuel and utility concerns are all addressed by ...

Plus close to the border the easier it is for ELINT AC of the Enemy to pic it up and study it. But we do have them at Jodhpur Air base... And on the eastern front, we plan to have them installed at Tezpur apart from a few places in U.P as well. I thought having 2 squadrons is in itself an extravaga...

@ Munnabhai and the like... I never defended the lack of action against the jihadi foolhardy jackasses. But singling out a particular section of the Indian polity is not gonna bring peace...definitely not! Deal with terror with an iron fist! Noose them, shoot them or better, make them cry in apology...

Yeah both, 'sum' and 'asprinzl' have a point. But then even the Amrikis run a risk of exposing their best of F-15s (USAF and ROK) and F-16s especially when they were running air-to-air missions. Raptors or not, the bulk of USAF still consists of Falcons and Eagles.

Read in today's TOI, Russia may be eyeing Ukraine next.
Its cant be bad for India. Ukraine's guilty of supplying military hardware to Pak (T-80UDs and IL-78 mid-air refuellers...)

Re: Su-30: News and Discussion

So we dont seem to have come to a conclusion as to how many Rambhas have already been produced till date. The web sites like Wikipedia and RIAnovosti suggest more than 100 whereas physically only 19-50 and 101 -124 have been verified.

Any updates on that front?

Here's a grim lookout on the Su-35 offer by the Russians. What can be inferred from the offer under consideration is that the PAK-FA has been pushed back even further! Hope i'm wrong here. I have an idea. AFAIK, we have produced only half the MKIs that we will evetually be producing. Why not buy/produce 126 SU-35s instead of the remaining MKIs (also in lieu of Mig-35 MMRCA), on a quasi-MMRCA contract?? The maintenance, production lines shouldnt differ much from that of the MKIs. Also...
