Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

It's not just "bean counting",that is as far as costs go,looking like it may reach the Pentagon's "unaffordable" limit .Please read the numerous development issues, faults, etc.,well documented/listed out.In earlier posts ,AWST reports etc.,spoke of new structural failures,failure...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

The F-35B is absolutely on schedule as per the latest report issued by the congressional research committee (april 29th 2014). There is no 13 month delay you speak of. The IOC is between August 2015 and December 2015. The USAF IOC is also stated to be on schedule, as the software maturity required f...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

I expect the JSF needs to come in rather close to attack surface targets, the all aspect stealth is needed. The Pakfa otoh, aims to have a number of long ranged weapons for such tasks. The JSF only needs to come close of the mission complexity so demands. The line up of Stand off and medium-long ra...

Re: PAK-FA and FGFA Thread

OLS50M is not an EOTS like system. Unless one suggests the pakfa be inverted during air 2 ground missions. It would still require a pod for targeting though. http://www.worldaffairsboard.com/attachments/military-aviation/25016d1304257242-chinese-5th-gen-fighter-photo-aviation-week-eots-3.jpg http://...

Re: JSF,"turkey or talisman"?

The emphasis/stress on the fact that the F-35 needs so and so support while the other fighter does not means very little when no context whatsoever is provided for a force-structure threat comparison. Where would a hypothetical F-35 need a growler support? Wide area, multi band jamming? If so agains...

Re: JSF,"turkey or talisman"?

Welcome to the forum brar-warrior. Any background you care to share with us? I was in the US Marine Corps as an avionics man primary, and jet engine mechanic secondary on A-4E, A-4F and A-4Ms. I wished I had stuck with it after I got out and got my licenses and certifications but unfortunately ther...

Re: JSF,"turkey or talisman"?

Certain points and observations: *David Axe and his articles represent a very heavy “tabloid’esqe” side of the JSF debate that we often see from the many jokers in the desi press. Even those that oppose the program would not hesitate to claim that he is biased. Take his articles with a pinch of salt...

Re: International Naval News and Discussion

How does the US build so fast at such cheap prices, 10 Virginia class subs for USD 17.6 billion, our conventional much smaller scorpene and Project 75 seem to match the prices It takes time, money, experience and dedication towards a goal. The Virginia class was a much-criticized program and many i...
