Re: Intelligence & National Security Discussion

People's anger and a crumbling spy agency The tirade against Chaturvedi keeps getting stronger. The Govt. would be well served to throw Ashok Chaturvedi and Sanjiv Tripathi out of RAW to some admin position and make the Pak expert Banerji the head. Ask the next chief to deliver in a timebound fashi...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership

Smaller ships in large numbers would be more useful for policing duties but they would not have long endurance so far from the home port. I think this may be a good opportunity for INS Jalashwa(sp?) to go in there as mother ship with a dozen helos, a dozen speed boats, stores and 200 commondos. Mak...

Re: INS Tabar destroys pirate mothership

This is where we need to give up our age old mentality of playing on safer side and show more aggression. if they kill our countrymen then all bets are off. we send more forces, go in , and also take initiative and kill more of them. these people are used to of attacking armless ships, they will ru...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

Anti Piracy Action at High Seas - PIB On being fired upon, INS Tabar retaliated in self defence and opened fire on the mother vessel. As a result of the firing by INS Tabar, fire broke out on the vessel and explosions were heard, possibly due to exploding ammunition that was stored on the vessel. A...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

The UN can reconstruct somalia on its own sweet time but for now I agree with singha ji. Give navy the permission to hunt and slaughter the pirates. If you don't negotiate with terrorists there is no need to negotiate with pirates. . I'm all for concerted naval action but the cheapest, most effecti...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

Nikhil mate completely agree with you, however what you say would only happen in an ideal "perfect" world. Right now the world just sees this as a major pest than anything else. Besides these days nobody is going to go in unless they get something in return ala Unkil. UN peace keepers are...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

with a few shots imo... like having their leaders brains splatter all over their deck. UN should also reach an agreement to use the space freed in Gitmo by released detainees for captured pirates and prosecute them harshly under some special UN law . With all due respect, any talk of using Gitmo/sp...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

Something on that line with USN's fifth fleet would be good. But I would stay away from CTF-150 and other initiatives. Just because Pakis also happen to be in the initiative??? Shouldn't the IN operate in a more mature manner, fitting for the world's 5th most powerful navy? Doesnt the Indian Army p...

Re: INS Tabar nails pirate ship (sort of)

IN doesn't need to operate in any multinational fleet with porkis and others. India can man the are on their own. I hope GOI sends 3-4 (1-2 frigates + 2-3 Patrol ships) ships on three month deployment soon. Leaving aside the rhetoric, what would a 3 month deployment do when we won't harm the pirate...
