Re: Indian Space Program Discussion - 23 April 2008
1) The link I gives gives the actual cost not how much ISRO charged the users. So read again. 23 mil for vega is also the actual cost does not include R&D cost etc. 2) So? Israel has shavit why did they use PSLV? France is paying for vega but the main contributors are italians. If italy signs su...

Re: Military Acquisitions, Partnerships & Developments
This takes the grand total of SMERCH launchers on order to 80 : Russia to deliver another 18 Smerch rocket launchers to India 38 were ordered in past . Add another 'additional' 18( as per this news report now so total is 56 ) not 80 . 38+24 were ordered earlier . With this 18 it becomes 80. I hope ...

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion - 23 April 2008
The cost of PSLV is absolutely wrong. The GSLV costs around 36 mil. There is no way PSLV costs around 30 mil. http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/2007/01/11/stories/2007011105861000.htm http://www.domain-b.com/aero/20070423_pslv.htm The links provide the cost of PSLV as Rs 80 crore in 2007 which is ...

Stop posting rubbish like this junk. Pakis know their 3rd gen Jf-17 blundaar cannot match IAF and are shit scared so they will desperately try to shore up the sagging morale of their pathetic pilots and soldiers with lies like this. In 1971 Pak radio and generals kept announcing that they were troun...

C-17??? Why go for a costly system for which logistics will have to be built up from scratch. IAf will end up with IL-76 MF no matter what. 60 tonne payload meets IAF's requirements perfectly.

And faced sanctions from US during the war while russia kept supplying us with weapons. If sanctions were that important, would it not have stopped them after 1965? Besides, the damage was already done. When the US supplied India LGB's to blast the TSPA from Tiger Hill in Safed Sagar, I'm sure we f...

To be used only for trainings and demos and not in real wars? Why don't we ask TSP what end user agreements these come with; after all they threw all the US weapons at us, not once but two times in 65 and 71. And faced sanctions from US during the war while russia kept supplying us with weapons.

I have to agree with vivek 80 Smerch is barely enough for out western border. We need atleast 200 for IA and hopefully the rest will be made up by Pinaka-II. With the chinks doing a echha copy of the Smerch and passing it onto the pakis IA cannot afford to sit quiet.

MTA is a jet powered C-130 class. What we need to land on small strips in himalayas and other outposts are something like C-27 spartan. I would prefer if HAL-NAl made one based on RTA instead of buying from outside.

Re: Indian Space Program Discussion - 23 April 2008
Not bad for a private venture but still costly compared to ISRO right? 185 km orbit is really low that would compete with the three stage PSLV. PSLV-CA launched a 350 kg AGILE into 550 km orbit for 11 mil if I am correct. PSLV lite (3 stage) will cost even less perhaps $ 8-9 mil which compares well ...

They can trace my musharaf to cosy unkil land but doesn't change the fact that buying Ah-64D is basically subsidizing Ah-1's for the pigs. I hope HAl flies the LCH fast so both IA and IAF can settle on it.

Re: Indian Military Aviation
IAF will have to replace the HS 748's (50-60) and An-32's (100+) and 45 MTA's won't cut it. I hope the RTA morphs into a ideal replacement for both. 60 MTA + 90 RTA would be a good fleet for IAF along with IL-76 MF and Saras (dornier replacement).

Wiki mentions srilanka is looking to buy 25 of these junks? Any truth in the report? Why can't India provide upgraded T-55's (Project gulmohar) to srilanka, burma and afghanistan?
