The PAF had 26 B-57B, 1 B-57C and 2 RB-57F (converted RB-57D) in 1965 and only 18 B-57B in 1971 (not sure if it includes the single RB-57F), yet admits to only 4 B-57 losses in 65. Aircraft seem to disappear rather quickly in the PAF, as with the F-86Fs. Were there any recorded accidents b...

There is also a video of the interview at http://www.ibnlive.com/videos/19161/kargil-hero-lives-to-tell-his-tale.html I havent listened to it but it appears ironic that a story that essentiallly starts off on a MiG-27 pilots incident would have Jaguars, Hunters, Su30MKIs but no MiG-27 :) An-32 has ...

After nearly smashing my computer in frustration in trying to get this right, here it is. Turn the volume up loud. Well, which war? From what I was reading, the US transferred some planes during 1971 illegally via Iran to Pakistan , that were intended for Libya. Was there another Libyan angle to 1965? It would be very handy if I could talk you into documenting foreign arms transfers to Pakistan during these war...

I was thinking about how you tracked down that those Jordanian planes were shot down. Surely at least some of the PAF losses must have been Gulf country planes. It would be very nice for political reasons to have that documented and verified. The IAF has always claimed that the downed F-104s had a ...

Re: Thanks Harry
It was good to see some analysis done by Harry about the kills in the 1971 war, but what about 1965? Can we talk you into doing a repeat of 1965 as well? I think Jagan's book already covered that in the appendices and a new list would be little more than a repeat of it. The book does well to kill t...

Everything was gathered from open sources and the sources were provided. These are an attempt at a complete list of claims made by various sources, with cross-referencing taking many months. There will not be any corrections (in the tables) unless the concerned parties/authors themselves approach or...

The timing of this thread was good. The most extensive list of IAF Kill claims for the 1971 war, ever compiled. At last!

Till today, I could never understand how Chiefs of opposing Air Forces could have reached an understanding to keep away from conflict (if ever such an agreement was reached). Indian Express does a two-page spread on the 1965 war book: http://www.indianexpress.com/sunday/story/9548.html Could'nt those idiots read the details and final tables properly? There were 16 air-to-air kills by both sides, although Cooke's second kill is not mentioned in the tables, plus Sikands G...

According to VP Malik, Kargil style attacks would require a 10:1 attacker:defender ratio and sometimes even this would'nt be enough. What the IA did was quite superhuman. However, the IAF must receive a lot of credit for the eventual ~9:1 kill ratio in India's favour. Airpower is the only way to avo...

It is well deserved. The historical portions of the IAF on the net are 97% the work of Jagan and Samir alone. I hope that there will be a high end version of this book, a collectors edition, with all the corrections, maps, new pics, artwork and higher quality of print paper. It may not sell well but...

the OLS-30 is a modified seeker of some IR missile iirc, its not that great. the Roosies need to come up with something to replace this alongwith the work on IIR-K74 mk1 and mk2 missiles. the F-14D IRST below the nose was supposedly a lot better. the YAL-1 also has a sensor on the roof. Claims abou...

Answers for both, I don't know. They could've integrated the R-73E with the SHAR, Jaguar, MiG-23BN/27 and MiG-21bis/M long ago but I don't know why they did'nt or if they actually did? Might be that these weapons are expensive Integration of R-73 is a bit fishy ... I mean without an IRST (or Radar)...

the RAF/FrAF jaguars were already at the level of our new Jags. do these have the darin 2 suite.I always thought that the newer (17) 2 seaters were far more advanced then the raf jags RAF upgraded Jaguars to GR.3 standard. The most impressive of this is the addition of a HMS and ASRAAM capability. ...
