Kudankulam Protestors detain NPCIL buses
A group of anti-Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) protesters detained two buses of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) at Chettikulam on Saturday.

The police said a group of students from Chettikulam had gone for a books exhibition organised at the school on Anu Vijay Township campus housing workers, engineers and scientists of the KKNPP.

When they returned to their school at Chettikulam in two NPCIL buses, the protesters detained the vehicles. The police made repeated requests to the protesters to release the buses but they refused.

The stalemate continued for more than two hours and parents of the students intervened and freed the buses, a police officer said.

Since none from KKNPP administration was prepared to file a complaint, the police did not register a case against the protesters.

Cases against priests

It is learnt that the police have registered case against priests and the Bishop of the Tuticorin RC Diocese, Rt. Rev. Yvon Amboroise, under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code for participating in protests on the premises of a place of worship without obtaining permission. Cases have also been registered against Rev. Fr. M.P. Jesurajan and struggle committee convener S.P. Udhayakumar.

Now that they are running 1000 MW plants their attitude and operations must change. The system needs a complete overhaul until we proceed.
What the **** are you talking about?
What was/is so amateurish about DAE? Why is it ok to be amateurs for 200MW ATP tournaments plants but for Grand Slam Wimbledon 1000MW plants, one needs to be professionals?
Are you writing an episode for the Simpsons cartoon involving DAE employee Appu?

All the major accidents have happened at 1000 MW type plants. There is a reason for this.
Danger in the dark? Mystery? THriller? Background music eerie? Oh I love these movies...always have. What happens? Tell me tell me tell me !

What about VVER-1000 models ? HOw many safety issues have been seen?
What is the combined usage of this model?
How many exist?
When was the first one commissioned?
HOw many are being built?
What about Kalinin and the 4th unit being commissioned by the Russians in 2011?
Is the Russian nuclear agency still playing amateur ATP tournaments?
Did VVER 1000 models have overhaul and life extensions?
Oh wait a minute...this is what you said
- End of life plan. One of the wierd things about Nuclear is that they have a definite end date. Used to be 60 years but now about 40 years, in many case now 25 years when radiation damage causes the entire plant to be unsafe and to be shut down. DAE has no need to work/inform/be accountable to locals in terms of safety and long term material concerns, such as wastes, spent fuel and decommissioning
.
But what about VVER 1000 model sir? A 30 year extension is being done on one VVER 1000 model? So do you think amateur DAE is not aware of this?
Do you think amateur DAE does not consider financial costs to a nation like ours?
Why do you think amateur DAE invests in Thorium research if they do not think about finance and technological independence?
I've been reading a tremendous amount on Nuclear power and it has left me quite shaken. There is a tremendous amount that Nuclear Engineers do not know or understand. So much hand wringing that calculations on paper never match reality yet orders to proceed are given. At every step economic decisions overwhelm concerns for safety. Alvin Weinberg the designer and source of much of the technology behind these plants was very upset that his design originally intended for 50 MW type navy reactors was scaled up to 1000 MW+ for economic reasons. He abandoned the technology as simply too unreliable and spent the rest of his life working on alternative designs. To the very end he warned that these designs are deeply failure prone, esp. uncontrollably.
Aha . Let us compare this.
One man's word against:
1. Entire Amateur DAE
2. Entire Semi-professional Russkies
3. 10 odd VVER-1000 plants running for a combined 100+ years

doom and gloom have been used for 1000 odd years to whip up frenzy

Ramanna is quite right. As I've repeatedly said, the entire KKM protests have been deliberately "switched on",orchestrated by vested interests, mainly foreign, who are using their local quislings and "church" groups for the same purpose. Many of the local leaders involved appear to be trying to extract their "pounds of flesh" like Shylock making use of the controversy, like the TN govt. too,now wanting extra power from KKM.As for the others, some are LTTE trumpeteers par excellence, who now see another cause to beat the govt. with while carrying out their movement's nefarious activities on Indian soil. The demand to scrap Kalpakkam exposes the utter hypocrisy of the anti-KKM movement as for decades there hasn't even been a squeak about Kalpakkam. It is sabotage of India's entire n-industry and the protesters should face the full might of the law in squashing their dubious protests.

What was the purpose behind the 21kg of LTTE gold smuggled into India recently allegedly by a well known pro-LTTE family heavily involved in Rajiv's assassination.to help fund the KKM protests or to be used in another diabolic assassnation plot? It is no secret that the ISI is also heavily present in the island nd suspected of using Lanka to also smuggle in fake currecncy into TN and Kerala using Eelamist connections.Whatever the answer, all these entities take their orders from abroad-from the same western nations and puppeteers who have indulged in devilry in the subcontient.

Meanwhile, here is a message from Europe Solidaire Sans Frontières.
http://www.europe-solidaire.org/IMG/art ... a23392.pdf
Addressing the concerns of the people is valid. Expressing solidarity is fine. But what I find intriguing is this:
while it has outsourced redundant and dangerous nuclear technology from all over the globe imperiling the
safety of our own people.
The choice of words here is deliberate.
Redundant , deliberate and dangerous is how they described the equipment.

As I've mentioned before and am vindicated now,the IB has warned of LTTE attacks in Bombay (TV channels) as they have tied up with the...LET! I have repeatedly warned of the resurgence of the Eelamists in TN,using quislings and rent-boys in India, and this warning from the IB that the LTTE has tied up with the LET underscores my previous assertions that the two,the ISI and LTTE have made a devil's pact to harm India, using the Lankan route and traitors in TN. I asked the Q,what was the gold that was seized meant to fund? KKM protests and/or new terror attacks across the country? Koodamkulam is just one part of the strategy that the two have planned, the whole being orchestrated by the master-puppeteers.

This is interesting part
C. Rajan, Additional Director General, DRI, Chennai, said the arrests followed specific information that Sri Lankan nationals arrived in Chennai with smuggled gold from Colombo to Thiruvananthapuram. From there they came to Chennai by road and checked in a hotel in Mannady. The officials entered the room in which they were staying. They were identified as Mohammed Susan Akbar, Faseel Mohammed, Faisal Mohammed and Mohammed Fasran.

Philip you are giving a lot of stories that look interesting but you seem to be very desperate to go extramile in creating a negative image of Tamils in North Lanka repeating and particularly bring in rumours with any evidence. Can you please bring some evidences about your stories! With your rumours and heard somewhere stories, do not make this nuclear forum an LTTE forum and also do not try your best to find a way to bring conflicts between Indian government and Tamils in South India by bringin your stories.
Even the forum moderator has asked you for a pointer, you run here and there to provide stories that seems like srilankan intelligence people who are desperate to keep LTTE stories alive to cover up their own attrocities one hand and also linking the protestors in Koodankulam stories with your smuggling stories without properly connecting the route of hte money and the receiver of the money you seem to loose your plots and thus distrating others attention to main issues relating to Koodankulam.

The Kundankulam anti-nuclear protesters perhaps can express their solidarity with the rest of the folks in TN by refusing to use electricity from Kalpakkam (housing the highly dangerous nuclear reactor), Ennore and Basin Bridge thermal stations (highly polluting and affecting the residents in and around Chennai), Neyveli thermal plant (feeds on ineffecient lignite and polluting the areas around Chidambaram and Cuddalore). They should voluntarily get out of the southern power grid and use only solar and wind-generated power from now on. This way they can really lead and show the way to rest of the country.

Google New Cache on this
Intensive investigations revealed that the two arrested persons, S Anand (28) and Kodiakkarai Vedayan (26), were associated with persons who allegedly had links with some of the accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Interestingly, the smuggling activity that was at its peak during the LTTE heydays, have resumed in recent times with renewed vigour after a gap of 15 years, perhaps because interested parties are transporting the wealth from Sri Lanka to their supporters in Tamil Nadu, said another officer who did not wish to be named.

The police and customs tightened their investigations after they came to know that Anand was none other than the son of Kodiakkarai Shanmugam, who had been arrested for the crime of sheltering some of the accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, and who later committed suicide in police custody.

Customs officials said that it was common knowledge that the gold bars did not originate from Sri Lanka and international smuggling ring used 'Kuruvis' (paid transporters) from southern coastal towns for the bigger job now, as the security along the coast was slackening after the LTTE was decimated by the Sri Lankan army.

This is now getting more and more dangerous:
Cases against mid-sea protesters at Kudankulam
Cases have been registered against anti-Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) struggle committee convener S.P. Udhayakumar and 2,000 others for trespassing into the premises of the nuclear power project from sea on Monday.

The protesters had announced that the fishermen, as part of the World Fisheries Day observed on November 21, would venture into the sea in the boats and stage demonstration against the KKNPP.

Hoisting black flags in around 600 boats, the protesters, including a number of women from the coastal hamlets of the district, staged demonstration in the sea against the project. While returning to the shores, the protesters entered the dyke, a prohibited area of the KKNPP, and raised slogans.

Sections

The police have registered cases under section 121 IPC (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging war against Government of India, 153 (A) IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race and language), 143 of IPC (unlawful assembly), 124 (A) IPC bringing or attempting to bring into hatred or contempt or excites or attempts to excite disaffection towards Government of India and Section 447 IPC (criminal trespassing into the prohibited area).
More details in this article:
Tension at KNPP again
Suddenly, raising tension in the neighbourhood of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) on Monday, fisher-folk of villages adjoining the plant area took their protest to the sea-front, taking advantage of ''World Fisheries Day'' on Monday.

Giving a novel twist to their prolonged agitation against the KNPP, fishermen in over 300 boats from Idinthakarai, the venue of the protestors’ relay fast, and other nearby coastal hamlets like Koothakuli and Perumanal, put out to sea with black flags and shouted slogans from the Bay of Bengal waters demanding the plant’s immediate closure.

After surfing the sea with black flags for quite a while, the boat-protesters at one stage came dangerously close to the “dyke” constructed by the KNPP, the intake point for taking the seawater to be used for cooling the condensers in the plant, sources from Kudankulam said over the phone.

It was a “near security breach” as fishermen have been advised to keep off the 500-metre perimeter from the dyke for safety and security reasons, sources said. The development jolted the KNPP authorities.

Even as women from the fisher-folk families joined the protests on shore, additional police reinforcements was rushed to the narrow beach stretches behind the nuclear plant area to avert anyone advancing towards the complex from the sea-front, sources said.

This is the second serious incident in the last three days after villagers opposing the KNPP, on Saturday stopped buses of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited at Chettikulam, south of the plant area.

The “People’s movement” against the KNPP and nuclear energy will convene a meeting in Chennai on November 27 where the forum’s group of expert advisers will discuss the Central team’s report.

They will also try to broad-base their agitation by enlisting the support of political party leaders and “intellectuals” across the country and then decide their future course of action, he added.
The heat is slowly being raised and seems pretty calibrated.

SS saar I know I am quoting an old post (dated Nov 07) but I think it's relevant so take it's fwiw; over a period of years I have now sort of got desensitized (for lack of a better word) to GoI's ways. No major agitation of this size can gain momentum without being on GoI's radar, if the agitation in question is detrimental to the ruling coalition's vote bank it's only then one would observe the otherwise lifeless elephant suddenly wake up from it's slumber and get to work, classic example was the crackdown on Ramdev and his followers in Dilli, why could similar measures not be taken against the rabble rousers in Kudankulam specially when the number of miscreants was small to start with ? You see as far as INC is concerned this is Amma's problem so that explains the reason for GoI's way of dealing with this situation. As far as GoI is concerned playing petty politics with important issues has become a norm that is why parliament only comes into life in order to pass a privilege motion if someone calls politicos names or deploy the IPS if someone sits on a hunger strike to question former's competence but somehow a rope of infinite length is extended to some others who happen to be delaying a multi million dollar project from going live as long as it does not affect former's chances in the next election.

That is why even I have decided to take a cue from the learned ones on this forum i.e. why worry have curry

From what I understand apart from cash and biryani, fear has spread among locals with images of starving children in Ethiopia and Somalia saying this is due to Nuclear energy. Why not show Tokyo and tell the locals we don't want TN to become like this? Simple question to protestors, show us the alternative to Nuclear power, tell the fisherman that the motors have been built with electrical machinary and if they agree that will go back to row boats ,we will agree.

Truth is in whichever village private players have power plants, donations are made to local panchayats to keep the protests away(I have audited companies generating power in TN in the past, thats how I know), Central agency does have this ability. So the locals wonder what is it in for them for having the risk of Nuclear Power plant next to them, this is being exploited by vested interests. If this was a private player, enough funds would have been paid locally to keep a lid on things. and why is the sea red, is it due to the Powerplant- NO. It is because of the Illegal Titatnium mining which is doing great environmental damage in those parts which the protesters happily ignore.

I posted this in one of my very early posts about how an illegal sand miner was responsible for publicizing the anti-KKNPP protests. It appears that some of the leaders who are vigorously protesting KKNPP, have been otherwise in the habit of demanding bribes from owners of windmill units being set up in these areas. Otherwise, they are being threatened. This also appeared in a Tamil newspaper sometime back. It brings out the hollowness of these protestors who demand windmills, solar units etc as an alternative to nuclear power.

Facebook helps fuel Koodankulam fire

[quote]Revellers at the Besant Nagar beach, including a group of Americans, were taken by surprise on Sunday evening when placard-holding, pamphlet-distributing youth confronted them on the sands, seeking their signature for a memorandum against the setting up of the Koodankulam nuclear power plant in Tirunelveli district.
. . .
Even the group of Americans they met at the beach were aware of the ill-effects of nuclear power and readily signed the memorandum, he {Rajkumar Palanisamy, a young entrepreneur and activist} added. . . .

I personally feel that in this forum at times there are individuals who are trying to manipulate and bring a stereotypical images about people like fishermen and Srilankan Tamils without much evidence. Even when the stories are given with link they are not relating to fishermen, ten kg gold, ISI and LTTE. I am beginning to loose interest as I begin to suspect a few things such as regional hatred is very much expressed through their opinions and rumours rather than evidence based stories. These are the people who encouraged and supported by a few and they do hit and run inflicting personal religious, linguistic and other dististinctions as matters. I begin to feel some of the tactics of divide and rule policy which Congress is using in India for long time which is also being used by a few here. I think this forum should focus in real points of arugments with supportive evidences before accusing some people generally and a sensible discussion of real issues around this Koodankulam nuclear plants.

I have read the document and I am beginning to realise that congress is also playing its own politics because they cannot open this reactor due to various other issues. They need to find someone else to blame including fishermen for their delays. For me the protest is a minor issue which can be thrown off as it is not getting majority support from Tamils there except Congress govt should stop irritating the Tamil people's feeling by saying this electricity is being given to Lanka - a terror regime which keeps attacking Tamil Fishermen and also Tamils in lanka! In this way Indian Congress govt is supporting terrorism in the neighbourhood. Secondly the Russians are also worried about the legal protection given by the parliament of India. They want to clarify the concerns as well as wanted some exception for this plant from such legal issues. Until it is done the Russians are not going to start this plant producing electricity.

I am not finding any other reason to start the plant producing electricity. The electricity should be supplied to Indians only with preferences to Tamil Nadu. The protest will continue like a mosquito in someone's garden!

Generally This place - Koodankulam and the neighbouring districts are Congress holds. But in future it is doubtful that they will get even one seat in Tamil Nadu. Jeya will get maximum with some DMKs. She will support an NDAIII

The russians are not in charge of the plant..its like a transfer of technology agreement.. electricity production is done by SDRE onlee...

I agree that electricity should not be supplied to Srilanka..the trade of elec will be in INR so we ll not get any forex..besides there is nothing of value in SL that we need to import..SL does have strategic importance..but it ll not dare bark against the mad gigantic superpower on its north..if it does get suicidal and tries messing India can always deliver a Jhapad..we need not give it freebies like electricity when we ourselves are deficient..IMHO the word "christian" or "vatican" should be avoided in these discussions..We clearly know who is behind the protests...its the Unkil and the Panda.. It would be laughable to think that a non-entity like Vatican can dare mess with a mad ,gigantic future superpower..

At a seminar held in Loyola College’s Education department a week ago, many activists of Chennai, who had been part of the movement against Koodankulam 25 years ago, regrouped to network once again. While much has happened since the time when they first tried to create awareness about nuclear power, they found the support base for their movement swelling now.

Loyola College is a Jesuit institution in Chennai, India.

Loyola College was founded in 1925 by a French Salesian, Rev. Fr. Antony Raj, with the support of a group of Jesuits who had had their grounding at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and the London School of Economics.

THE OATH OF THE JESUITS AND THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS

I______________ ______________ , now in the presence of Almighty God, the blessed Virgin Mary, the blessed St. John the Baptist, the Holy Apostles, St. Peter and St. Paul, and all the saints, sacred host of heaven, and to you, my Ghostly Father, the superior general of the Society of Jesus founded by Ignatius Loyola, in the pontification of Paul the III an continued to the present, do by the womb of the Virgin, the matrix of God, and the rod of Jesus Christ, declare and swear that his holiness the Pope, is Christ's vice regent and is the true and only head of the Catholic or Universal Church throughout the earth; and that by virtue of the keys of binding and loosing given his holiness by my Savior, Jesus Christ, he hath power to depose heretical kings, princes, States, Commonwealths, and Governments and they may be safely destroyed. Therefore to the utmost of my power I will defend this doctrine and his holiness's right and custom against all usurpers of the heretical or Protestant authority whatever, especially the Lutheran Church of Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway and the now pretended authority and Churches of England and Scotland, and the branches of same now established in Ireland and on the Continent of America and elsewhere, and all adherents in regard that they may be usurped and heretical, opposing the sacred Mother Church of Rome.

I do now denounce and disown any allegiance as due to any heretical king, prince, or State, named Protestant or Liberals, or obedience to any of their laws, magistrates, or officers.

I do further declare that the doctrine of the Churches of England and Scotland, of the Calvinists, Huguenots, and others of the name of Protestants or Masons to be damnable, and they themselves to be damned who will not forsake the same.

I do further declare that I will help assist, and advise all or any of his Holiness's agents, in any place where I should be. in Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Ireland, or America, or in any other kingdom or territory I shall come to and do my utmost to extirpate the heretical Protestant or Masonic doctrines and to destroy all their pretended powers, legal or otherwise.

I do further promise and declare that, notwithstanding I am dispensed with to assume any religion heretical for the propagation of the Mother Church's interest to keep secret and private all her agents' counsels from time to time, as they in trust me and not divulge, directly or indirectly, by word, writing, or circumstances whatever but to execute all that should be proposed, given in charge or discovered unto me by my Ghostly Father, or any of this sacred order.

I do further promise and declare that I will have no opinion or will of my own or any mental reservation whatsoever, even as a corpse or cadaver, but will unhesitatingly obey each and every command that I may receive from my superiors in the militia of the Pope and of Jesus Christ.

That I will go to any part of the world wheresoever I may be sent, to the frozen regions north, jungles of India, to the centers of civilization of Europe, or to the wild haunts of the barbarous savages of America whatsoever is communicated to me. I do further promise and declare that I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war, secretly and openly against all heretics, Protestants and Masons, as I am directed to do to extirpate them from the face of the whole earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex, or condition, and that will hang, burn, waste, boil, flay, strangle, and bury alive these infamous heretics; rip up the stomachs and wombs of their women, and crush their infants' heads against the walls in order to annihilate their execrable race. That when the same can not be done openly, I will secretly use the poisonous cup, the strangulation cord the steel of the poniard, or the leaden bullet, regardless of the honor, rank, dignity, or authority of the persons, whatever may be their condition in life, either public or private, as I at any time may be directed so to do by any agents of the Pope or superior of the Brotherhood of the Holy father of the Society of Jesus.

In confirmation of which I hereby dedicate my life, soul, and all corporal powers, and with the dagger which I now receive I will subscribe my name written in my blood in testimony thereof; and should I prove false or weaken in my determination, may my brethren and fellow soldiers of the militia of the Pope cut off my hands and feet and my throat from ear to ear, my belly opened and sulfur burned therein with all the punishment that can be inflicted upon me on earth and my soul shall be tortured by demons in eternal hell forever.

I wonder whether there is a jargon related misunderstanding of one of the Expert Committee's comments.

The Expert Committee says:
2000 MW(e) electrical power generated from KKNPP Unit#1 and Unit#2 is exported through the 400 KV power transmission lines.
The word "export" is, I think, a usual jargon (another word used for the same being "evacuated") to signify despatch of electrical energy from a power plant to the Grid (within India, in this case). It does not mean "export" of the electrical power from India to another nation as we normally understand in the context of commodities. Of course, electrical energy is some times talked of being "exported" and likewise, being "imported" ("wheeled-in" and "wheeled-out" are other expressions, I believe) from one nation to another as usually happens in Europe; but that is not the case here.

In this case, as far as I know, there are no under-sea (or aerial) 400 Kilo Volt (KV) electrical transmission lines between India and Sri Lanka. These transmission lines (cables) would have to be massive, probably much bigger and much more secure than under-sea telephone/Internet communication cables that exist between India and other countries. This would tend to make transmission of electricity from Koodangulam to even the northern most part of Sri Lanka quite expensive and hence salability would be close to nil, at least for a very long time to come.

(§) Perhaps the tamil translation for "export" (yetRumathi ஏற்றுமதி) might conjure up an image of items being loaded in a ship (or aitcraft) about to set sail. This is not the case with electrical energy.

Just my thoughts.

(§) = Added later

But who is gonna jail such people.
Manmohan singh? who is known to be a IMF agent furthering the NWO agenda of creating regional economic unions as a step towards one world government
Sonia gandhi? the puppet master who controls manmohan, who is a daughter of a fascist. Fascists and vatican are chaddibuddys, with vatican agents helping fascists escape after their defeat.

What is the problem if the Catholic priests or Jesuits join in any protests?

By saying Jesuits are supporting anti nuclear forum and also they get support from Rome it does not make sense. Some of you should read the story of how Thumba was established in that place in Kerala. When a similar controversy arose because there was a church and a Christian community which was living in the same place. It was a Christian priest who convinced the community and thus they all moved away from this place in order to give the land for rocket launching place.

If a few priests support antinuclear protests it is because they may have found some reasons or are convinced of their protests. It is the govt's responsibilities to address their genuine concerns and then move on. Bringing in religion into this discussion makes some people happy and also diverts the discussion and fulfils some people's agenda of promoting hatred against religious minorities. then there is not much difference between the Pak terror religious groups who wanted to see all the minorities out and see them terrorised.

For me Nuclear scientists have not yet come up very clean yet about recycling of the used rods. I still have concerns about certain safety issues with nuclear plants. If there is a problem with the plant and if the Russian scientists suddenly left, do we have enough scientists to handle the situation (at least in Japan some old people volunteered). If Sea water enters into the plant, I hear that there are number of back ups. Are there preventive efforts to protect plant from the entering sea water) Some of these questions arise out of illiterate concerns but these kind of questions are asked in the local Tamil Media and so people share these concerns.

Secondly there is a fear among the any public about the recent Japanese disaster which has contributed furthering of the protests. Thirdly Government of India and state govts have always meddled up with local people in any land acquiring and settlements. Either money is not completely given or jobs as assured were not given to the people.

The local people needs to appreciated for giving their farm lands and valuable other lands to govt with a trust but this trust is never kept in any industrial set up. This anger turns into any protest against any industry that comes to these places. We need stronger laws to protect people's interest too. Have it in mind that some states and some places one cannot imagine setting up such plants.

For me I am still not sure about Govt's agenda to start the plant. It should have been running two years ago or before. But they kept on waiting for commissioning or waiting to start the plant and waiting to produce electricity? What was the govt doing with plant for many years though it was ready? Was money not paid fully? Was Russians not happy to start?

Govt should take the protestors to court if they are unreasonable in their demands. If they ask good questions then answer them. If safety questions are clear and then address them! Because i still remember those days when the decision was being made I was one of those college students who were campaigning for this plant to come and thus was looking for development of this region which is often neglected by consequtive chief ministers of TN!

They can. But as long as they play into the hands of non-Indian powers they will be suspects. The onus is on them to prove their loyalties.

That is part of the package that comes with "conversion funds". Is it too difficult to understand?

You bring this too often as if the TN locals are so well versed with the intricacies of Fakushima. For argument sake let us assume, they are well informed:

Can you please outline the exact damage happened to Japanese population and economy?

The Russians are not living there.. Its completely managed by Indians.. We have a far higher quality technical man power than what was present at Fukushima..Stop spreading such BS to the locals that Russians are living there and if the leave the plants would blow up..

Joshvajohn,

These priests by all accounts are not just 'joining' in the protests but are actively leading the activity.

There IS a problem when priests stray too far away from the domain of religion to what is clearly a technical matter that should not have anything to do with religion. Corruption in public life as an issue can be explained away as being somewhat loosely connected with 'morality' and hence 'spiritualism' but nuclear power matters - sorry, religion should have no say in it. And this applies to clergy of ANY religion leading such activities - not just to Christianity. If Hindu priests were to start leading such protests - that would be equally objectionable.

Even a Imam for that matter. Imagine if Shahi Imam said something to that matter, we would be all blaming him as a Pakistani mouthpiece. Wont we?
Religion must stay away from matters of Defense, Economy, Power and other key sectors. We have enough problems with religious subversive activities already. We do not want more of this cancer.
