Thats a problem with BJP Prime Ministers. Same was with ABV, same with Modi. They concentrate on keeping the fundamentals right. Remember the 5 Billion payments pending to the oil companies by the older govt which Modi govt had to pay?
If i was Modi, i would wait till the last year and in the last year, bring down the fuel taxes to 14%, increase tax limit to 20 lakhs and subsidize the gas cylinder to 300 rs and even give 5000 rs per month to BPL families which will by default cover unemployed. So either you win by these or congress gets big problems when voted to power. Either which ways, "Desh gaya tel lene" and it should be fine. He does not have any family to worry about, does he?

^ Not unluckiest saar, just not ruthless enough. They had plenty of time even before the pandemic began to rein in the media, both foreign and domestic. Had an amazing opportunity to bumfu*k twitter after the toolkit fiasco and when they refused to comply with GoI orders but they just meekly let them go. Same goes for labor and student unions, they're nothing in front of the elected government but you do have to be ready to use the cane.

They probably thought "sabka vikas" would trump all loyalties, sadly it wasn't so. Always thought the slogan was very naive to begin with.

Banning foreign media does not help, its not like even 0.01% of Indians read BBC, NYT or WaPo, so just banning their journalist from India wont stop them from publishing propaganda against India sitting in London or Dubai or NYC. There are plenty of Indian coolie journalists who will continue to peddle propaganda material to these foreign media houses.

I am split on Twitter, while i think the govt missed a golden opportunity post US elections to ban Twitter and Facebook from India, i also feel vacating Twitter/Facebook will let BIF spread anti-India content absolutely unchallenged. We see this with China where anything against China is not countered because China does not use Twitter/FB. That said its a shame that none of the desi alternatives to Twitter took off, atleast Chingari had some success but the terribly named koo or one of the many imitators just failed.

Going against labor and student unions isnt that simple, many of these unions have the ability to rapidly mobilize all aided and abetted by opposition parties. The entire anti-CAA riots and protests was continuation of fees protests in Delhi and later students from all over India joined. It took Congress years to develop rival unions who could do equal violence as commie student and labor unions. BJP needs strong state level leaders to do something similar and not look up to one guy always.

I call Modi "unlucky" because of the tattered economy he inherited, pakis and Chinese doing what they do best (which again was outside Modi's control) and the horrific pandemic. The only thing which was probably under his control were the riots of the last 2 yrs which should have been put down sooner.

WTH does CDC have to do with India and why is ANI propagating this crap

we desperately need the masks to stay on and the need to keep social distance is paramount.

just like the "farmer's agitation" this is also a part of the regime change agenda.

this is very wrong.

Some fully vaccinated individuals have died of covid much after their vaccinations.

many others have become infected with covid even after two doses.

@ANI · 20h

Fully vaccinated individuals can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart: US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

Banning of foreign media isn't just about their viewership, it's also about their impact during critical issues. Take a look at this Guardian article about RT's "disinformation".

How Russia spreads disinformation via RT is more nuanced than we realise
Why does this matter? Audiences for these channels in the UK are relatively tiny. Their online reach is dwarfed by domestic news outlets such as the Guardian, Mail Online and others. But their influence, especially on key issues, often belies their size. For example, RT’s coverage on the Venezuela coup attracted an average of 2,558 engagements (retweets, likes or shares) per online article, more than the BBC’s 1,780 engagements per article.

The above when RT is well known for being Putin's mouthpiece and Brits worshipping BBC like their lord and savior.

The Twitter/fb propaganda is entirely for domestic users. What does it matter to Xi if Susan from North Dakota believes he likes honey and wears a short red shirt as long as the majority of Hans believe he is good for China. So if they decide to take twitter/fb out of india, it wouldn't matter what propaganda is peddled there. Koo etc I believe would have gained tremendously as well from such a move. Still there's plenty of time left in the 2nd term; hope they turn things around.

I am not sure if banning twitter or facebook is a great idea. If it helps BIFs, its equally true that its a major platform for us, the silent majority, to air our frustration and call out on hypocritical left. If I were in their shoes (i.e twitter/fb), I would not indulge too much into censuring the pro-Modi supporters because I can get called out by GoI (BJP led) and would face an obvious ban. Hence I (as a twitter/fb owner) need to support both parties albeit a bias towards left here and there. Its a double edged sword for twitter/fb as much as it is for others.

I don’t think any of this matters. Media narrative has been set that the government is incompetent. Everyone believes that Modi has failed and it is his fault alone.

Does anyone remember before Punjab elections how the atmosphere was created that drug issue was THE problem facing Punjab and that SAD were the ones that were kingpins? Movies were made, songs written on this…. Congress won and nothing changed on the ground, yet no one talks about it anymore as if the issue has gone away.

The Opposition is very good at controlling the media narrative that BJP lacks.

who is there to manage the media for Modi.

read the memoirs of many of the other media manager rascals who served with various PMs, how they managed to peddle their wares while in office and what secrets they revealed after leaving and how so many wielded unwarranted political powers and ran a power network and ecosystem in exchange for tangibles.

A media manager has to be privy to a lot of decisions, political, commercial, stock market shaking info, intelligence matters and foreign policy issues and there are any number of folks who would pay a kings ransom for such inputs in advance of their actual occurrence and any number of media managers who would eagerly sell their mothers for the chance to get at such information.

If he is given such inputs after the event, management of media is impossible so it has to be before so that some in the press can be briefed to place a specific spin or highlight a particular point or play down something that need not become an issue that may come back to bite the govt later

this constant rhona dhona about media management is counter productive. look at suswamy and how matters turned out there. clearly he expected something, that which was never promised to him, much more than a RS seat, a govt house and govt security to guard him

every BJP person who is media savvy has an agenda of their own as did ram madhav or gadkari.

even jetlee and swaraj had their own agendas and gadkari has been kept out of the loop for reasons not known publicly

so who can be trusted to perform loyally and honestly at such rarefied levels as that of a media manager who is essentially a very influential power broker by default, and a trusted keeper of state secrets

this BJP govt is very wary of any scandal coming out of left field because some joker opened his hole in the wrong company or place

True…

Btw just saw Gadkari slaggibg off Fadnavis in a whatsapp video. Specifically telling Fadnavis to stop criticising Thackrey and do actual work and let it speak for itself.

Ideologically and morally it is the right thing. With the Opposition India has, definitely not.

I don't know if its just coincidence but the last couple of months i have come across dozens of youtube channels all talking about India's rapid highway construction with a mandatory clip of Nitin Gadkari's interview. Paid promotion ? Is he preparing grounds to be the next PM candidate from BJP after Modi ? Or does he have an eye on the MH CMship ? Who knows. He was said to have been close to Pramod Mahajan and did not like Gopinath Munde and definitely does not get along with Fadnavis. That said he is one of the "go getters" in Modi's cabinet filled with damp squibs .

Does this all the time. Has made several slys on the PM too. If anyone thinks he is doing this for a moral high, I have a bridge to sell.
Mr contractor is the right name for him.
I have been pretty explicit regarding his incessant road building with no eye to ROI. Over the last year, have also outlined how he has tried to play as a PM option through a particular Nagpur lobby. He did that during the 2019 campaign as well.
Just because he spends an exorbitant amount on roads does not make him a doer. The real cost of his pet projects is too high.

This has been going on for a very long time. Gadkari has been propped up in the past as well. The BIF were propping him as a consensus PM candidate before 2019 election as well.

Give it time and they will start propping up Rajnath Singh as well.

via whatsapp but very true

The vaccine situation in India is like looking for a bride for marriage.

First, you are not ready..

Then, you don't like any..

Then, you don't get any..!!

Those who got are unhappy thinking that maybe the other one would have been better

then those who did not get, want to marry anyone from anywhere

this is a woke BIF circle to set in motion the continued spread and lack of control over the spread of the pandemic.

sedition charges should be filed against this "one rupee fine" activist punk who seems to be a great favourite among many hizzonners

let's see how this plays out.

If the govt can be forced to provide oxygen, then it can also use force, if necessary to safeguard the public health and safety by compulsory vaccination or permanent quarantine of these unvaxxed wokes in the face of the deadly pandemic.

What about the fundamental right to life of those people who will be infected by such politically "instigated" nonvaxxers. who protects them and who speaks for them

Aren't we under the Disaster Min.Rrules today?
I've said from last year repeatedly that a joint task-force has to be set up with a holistic team of experts to identify the economic ,material and logistic needs to fight the China Virus .Once identified, orders placed for worst case scenarios .It's always better to have more than less as we're tragically finding out now. Then hand over all logistic duties to the armed forces. In fact the CV war should be headed by a 3* officer, but babudom, wanting to preserve its power especially in a
crisis when so much moolah is being spent, and influence-peddling v.lucrative, will never allow this to happen, why we're seeing the armed forces being used so sparingly. Picking up oxygen,etc.,etc.,like courier lads is fine but ensuring timely delivery of oxy, vaccines, etc. to states, hospitals, etc. cannot be bettered than by the disciplined armed forces who will NOT be swayed by influence-peddlars, politico pressure and mercenary vested interests.

I don't think the largest political party in the world has ever had a public relations machinery. I always find it rather ironic that anyone speaking for Hindu rights or dharma or just being pro-nation is branded as "BJP IT Cell" or "Rs 2 tweet IT cell member", where as majority of those who are fighting back the biased media on social media platforms or fighting fake news or retorting to BIFs propaganda are regular folks, they are doing the job what the current government and the party in power should be doing on every platform , both print and electronic media. It is amazing how a party like INC despite being out of power in pretty much every state can hire thousands of accounts from India to Turkey to Ukraine to spread its message or put out propaganda against the govt, but BJP cannot put together even a dozen accounts to counter it effectively.

I don't always agree with Rajeev Malhotra but i have to admit he was right about one thing, the trouble with RSS/BJP is that they are stuck in the past and when someone has new ideas either they are not accepted or the ideas are shunned. We see this percolates at every level down to international diplomacy where even a moth eaten pakistan has better lobbying leverage and media hold than India.

What is perplexing is why Amit Shah or Modiji are not doing weekly press briefings. Or at least get someone in Cabinet that has a good public face. There are actually a lot of achievements to talk about - vaccine programme, social programs, oxygen front news, future plans or just explaining why decisions are taken the way they have.

If BJP thinks their work will speak for itself or they will explain it away in 2024 they are idiots as the narrative would have taken hold and emboldened Kejriwal and his ilk.

Something has changed since victory of biden.

First Smita Prakash of ANI has turned nasty to BJP. Reposting fake news of dead bodies floating in Ganga. Is vicious towards people who question her on Twitter about why ANI isn't covering genocide of Hindus in Bengal?

Now madhu kishwar:

TWITTER

@madhukishwar:

1. Too many naive #Libtards have started projecting #JihadiMamta as best one for PM candidate to trounce @narendramodi in 2024
This amounts to ballooning in cloud cuckoo land.
She is too parochial. Her appeal can't go beyond lumpenized youth & Macaulay Putras &Putris of Bengal.

2. After watching several of his interviews, my gut feeling is:One who can give tough challange to @narendramodi in 2024 &may even bring him down is @PrashantKishor
My reasons:
1. He is very earthy &yet very sophisticated.
2. Is outperforming Modi in tuning to pulse of people

3. Many CMs are already obliged to @PrashantKishor. Will gladly accept his candidature;
4. He doesn't use bluster nor loud boasts. Believes in meticulous planning unlike Modi. Is clear sighted
4. Unlike Modi &Shah he never underestimates his adversary nor over estimate himself.

5. Much before Bengal election @PrashantKishor announced that he's quitting election management. Instead will enter politics
6. A man of his competence &stature won't be satisfied being mere MP.
7. Has huge army of dedicated, highly professional & well honed cadre all over India

8.Poorly trained Party cadre whether of @BJP4India or @INCIndia are no match for @PrashantKishor professional team that works with precise goals,
9.He's not burdened by ideological clap trap. Instead focuses on issues that matter to people
10.Appeals to intellectuals &Janta alike

11. Most importantly, @PrashantKishor knows the strengths &weaknesses of @narendramodi. So He has proven that can use that to his advantage
12. PK is not narcissistic unlike Modi. Doesn't mind admitting mistakes & good at swift course correction. Modi unable to admit&fix blunders

13. Media &narrative management is @PrashantKishor forte
Whether as Gujarat CM or India's PM, @narendramodi unable to manage media or political narrative
12. @PK has no enemies. Modi has too many, including within @BJP4India
13.All will gladly accept non PK to defeat Modi

14. If @narendramodi wants to win 2024, he should bring back @PrashantKishor &let him help BJP &Govt to do swift course correction.
But for that Modi has to accept PK as an equal, not a hired aide.
And be less of a Control Freak
Let his Cabinet &party colleagues work without fear

The only explanation is they are waiting for the situation to get better. The economy is certain to boom from pent up demand but it needs to be carefully managed in the coming months so it benefits those the most who have lost the most in this pandemic. People are just desperate for some "feel good" news and visible energetic leadership.

kishwar was one of modi's earliest media savvy supporter. She defended him on godra for the longest time.

but true to human nature, she fully expected to be recognised for her support and given "something" in return and that "something" for such people is political empowerment starting out with the baseline of a RS seat with visible govt patronage

Modi should have, at the very least, given her some chairperson-ship of some not so important organisation, but one that paid well in terms of salary and perks and celebrity status like the censor board or some educational/cultural committee "advising" the govt. The congis and commies know well how to play the game and she leans leftish as is evident from her NGO type activist endeavors.

she runs some sort of an NGO and has intellectual pretensions and thought that she would be able to leverage that support into setting up some well funded and powerful organisation and hype up her celebrity status.

It would probably have been much better to have her inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in.

nothing much can be done now. jo hua so hua.

Madhu Kishwar has always been uncouth and slightly psycho in the way she speaks and writes. This is not new. She wants constant attention from the PM and ministers and when that fades she starts tweeting like this.

Her expectations and behavior are no different from Susu. Loose cannons and “great expectations” for self.

PS: being for healthcare and environment does not make one leftish in India’s Dharmic traditions. Madhu K is just for self.

What is new ? She's been this way since 2014 and has said much worse before especially on those nights when she seems to have had more than few to drink and gets hold of a computer to rant. She is in the same waste basket as SuSwamy, Arun Shourie, Yashwant Sinha, Shatrugan and others who all dreamt of a cushy cabinet position without having done any work for the party and turned 180 degree and started spewing venom when their dreams did not materialize. Back in 2014,2015 Madhu Kishwar's pet target was Smriti Irani and since then she's taken out her rage against everyone from Amit Shah to Jaitley to Modi .

prashant kishore as PM candidate possibility is very intriguing as also extremely dangerous..

just remember that khujliwal was also built up and paradropped into the dilli CM's gaddi by the BIF. But Modi has been very clever in completely defanging this khujliwal and isolating him.

The fact that the mafia queen studiously and completely ignores khujliwal is proof enough that she considers him a danger to pappu, as well as, to the family.

khujliwal will never be able to do the CM's job himself so he has adopted the mafia queen's delegate to MMS strategy.

earlier RRR was being built up as the MMS substitute for pappu and now one more may join the BIF sponsored list of useful fools

She lives in my neighbourhood and I often bump into her while taking walk in the park post-dinner. Her NGO is called Manushi which is located in a four story building owned by her, just across the road from my house. She was quite forthcoming when I approached her for help for a girl who was being harassed by her powerful in-laws. They had filed a court case against her and had hired a famous lawyer to push the case. Kishwar put me in touch with a competent female lawyer who charged very reasonable amount. The lawyer totally turned the case in the girl's favor in a few months. Kishwar should have been recognized by Modi by giving her some government post, like chairperson of women and child commission or something. These are the type of people with whom an ecosystem can be built for BJP, but BJP has a habit of shunning its supporters and not reward them. This leads to bitterness. Arun Shourie, Chandan Mitra, Madhu Kishwar .. the list is long of people pushed to the wayside by BJP after it has won. BJP has zero culture of rewarding loyalty -- this is foolish of BJP. Congress would have immediately put these people into cushy government jobs in public sector or various commissions or hired them as advisors, etc. with good salary and government perks.

PM candidate from where and which party ? Outside of those who closely follow national politics the man is a totally unknown entity, an average voter even in the recently concluded WB elections wouldnt have a clue who Prashant Kishor is ! Then there's the question of platform itself, apart from BJP the only party with a pan-national appeal is INC, and INC will never allow anyone other than the Gandhis to be the PM candidate, and even if someday the Gandhis decide to take a backseat INC has a history of rewarding absolute loyalty, so PK wont be allowed inside the gates of 24 Akbar Road. That leaves us with the regional satraps like TMC, NCP, JDS, DMK, SS, RJD, SP etc, all of these parties have two fundamental flaws - (a) they are regional, their entire rise and survival is based on their "regionalism" and regional chauvinism, so it is impossible for them to grow outside their home states and (b) these post-mandal parties have all become family enterprises , so the baton is passed from grandfather to the son/daughter to grandson/granddaughter and so on, they will never allow their "family property" to be usurped by some political consultant who has lost more elections than he has won. Madhu Kishwar can down another peg and continue raging..
