EU distances itself from its lawmakers’ anti-CAA move: Not our official position

EU distances itself from its lawmakers’ anti-CAA move: Not our official position

This distancing of the EU and France from the European Parliament, sources said, comes at a time when New Delhi has diplomatically “engaged” Brussels and European parliamentarians.

Shubhajit Roy
New Delhi
January 28, 2020

With five key political groupings in the European Parliament — these range from centre-right to far-left — moving resolutions slamming India’s Citizenship (Amendment) Act, the European Union Monday said the opinions expressed by the European Parliament and its members “do not represent the official position of the European Union”.

French diplomatic sources underlined that France, a founding member of the European Union, considers the new citizenship law an “internal political matter of India” and that European Parliament is an institution “independent of member states” and the European Commission.

This distancing of the EU and France from the European Parliament, sources said, comes at a time when New Delhi has diplomatically “engaged” Brussels and European parliamentarians.

Sources said Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has shot off a “strong protest letter” to the chairperson of the European Parliament, objecting to a potential situation of European Parliament taking up resolutions against the CAA approved by the Indian Parliament.

In an email response to The Indian Express Monday, EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Virginie Battu-Henriksson said: “The European Parliament is currently planning to hold a debate on legislation adopted by the Government of India last December establishing a fast track procedure for irregular migrants belonging to certain religious groups originating from neighbouring countries. The Supreme Court of India is currently assessing the constitutionality of this law. As per its regular procedures, the European Parliament published the draft Resolutions. It is important to recall that these texts are only drafts tabled by various political groups in the European Parliament.”

“Let me also remind you that the opinions expressed by the European Parliament and its Members do not represent the official position of the European Union. The EU will host its 15th Summit with India on the 13th March 2020 in Brussels, with a view to strengthen its Strategic Partnership with India. India is a key partner for the EU to address global challenges and to jointly promote the rules based multilateral order,” she said.

The Indian Express has learnt that Indian Ambassador to Belgium, Gaitri Issar Kumar, who liaises with the EU and the European Parliament, and her team have reached out to European lawmakers.

Sources said Speaker Om Birla’s protest letter to the chairperson of European Parliament has cited the mutual understanding among member states of the Inter-Parliamentary Union that considers the legislatures of respective nation states as sovereign, and does not interfere in their business and processes.

In this context, Birla is said to have stressed that it will be inappropriate for the European Parliament to pass a judgment on a legislation approved by both Houses of Parliament after due deliberations. In fact, the Speaker has cautioned against the precedent that European Parliament may set by allowing resolutions moved against the CAA.

Sources said the Speaker has used his communication to underline the CAA provisions, and that the law does not seek to revoke the citizenship of any citizen to make them stateless. He is learnt to have said that it offers citizenship to persecuted religious minorities from certain neighbouring countries.

Reacting to the resolutions, official sources in Delhi said that the CAA is a matter “entirely internal” to India. “We hope the sponsors and supporters of the draft will engage with us to get a full and accurate assessment of the facts before they proceed further. As fellow democracies, the EU Parliament should not take actions that call into question the rights and authority of democratically elected legislatures in other regions of the world,” the sources said, maintaining that the CAA is an entirely internal matter of India.

"Fools step in where angels fear to tread" .The Euro-buffoons of Brussels are dangerously attempting to shoot themselves in the groin by attempting to interfere in India's internal affairs. The best route for India ias not to attempt to debate the issue by sending our diplo-ducks of the MEA, but to boycott the crooked conspiracy of a,conference .Let us NOT give the Brussels buffoons the " oxygen of publicity",but treat its " deliberations" with the utter contempt that it deserves.

OTOH, Philip, did the EU Parliament actually pass any of those resolutions, or is all this noise about the equivalent of the Dan Burton gang of the 1980s-90s? You KNOW that there had to be a come-back after the GOI stunt of bringing a bunch of EU politicos on conducted tour of JKL. So I hope this turns out to be an equal-equal non-event as well.

Well put.I was totally against cherry-picking a bunch of mostly EU "minnows" to Kashmir for the all-paid-'for guided tour.Colossal waste of money and time. What's our business is our business. It betrays the MEA's lack of confidence and still afflicted by the disease of kowtowing to white massas. The Chinx don't debase themselves like our mandarins who are better preachers to lesser nations than standing upto to larger ones.

The answer to the Kashmir problrm lies is a sound military strategy to exterminate Paki terror anywhere in the valley,POK,wherever, plus building fortified aesthetic settlements for the return of the Pandits, exiling locals indulging in anti- national violence to camps in the Thar desert, ANC island, etc. Opening up the state to the rest of the nation for investment, etc. on a war gooting.

The EU must be ignored and if it continues to poke its nose where it isn't wanted,we must do likewise. There are enough war crimes committed by EU Nations in the ME ,anti- semitism,Islamophobia in return to put them on the mat!

We have to take PFI to EU court. We have good case. PFI is trying to break a democratic country, thus creating Human Right situation. Indian parliament has sovereign right to make laws. WTF PFI has to do with Indian laws.

How governments can afford to send their baboon flying first class: Reuters
Airbus To Be Fined Nearly $4 Billion In Corruption Case
(1/28, Kar-Gupta, Hepher) reports that per a “preliminary deal with French, British and U.S. authorities,” Airbus is facing a “record $4 billion fine” to settle accusations of corruption and bribery. The deal is “believed to be” the “largest ever in a bribery case” by “anti-corruption experts.” It still requires approval from the courts but would “allow Airbus to avoid criminal charges that risked banning the company from public contracts in the United States and European Union.” When announcing the agreement, Airbus “said it would take a provision of 3.6 billion euros ($3.96 billion) in its 2019 earnings if the deal won approval in court hearings in the United States, Britain and France on Jan 31.”

Bloomberg (1/28) reports that the deal lets CEO Guillaume "Baksheesh" Faury “clear away a major distraction for himself as well as investors.” Jefferies International Research Analyst Sand Morris said that the news means “perhaps Airbus can steal a march on [The Boeing Company] while [it] is preoccupied.” Following the news, Airbus “shares closed up 1%.” Commerzbank Analyst Norbert Kretlow said, “For the stock market, relief of uncertainty is important.”

RT dot com does what they do best.

They got an exact double, almost. OK, maybe a bit thinner and brighter-eyed. Probably trying hard not to burst out giggling.
Russian prankster duo ‘Vovan and Lexus’ posed as Greta Thunberg and her father in call to ‘Joker’ actor Joaquin Phoenix, lobbying for a cameo in the sequel – and getting praise from Phoenix once he figured out the deception.
Following up their first successful prank acting as Greta Thunberg and her father Svante – targeting Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-California) – Vovan and Lexus set their sights on Joaquin Phoenix, fresh from his Oscar nomination for his role in ‘Joker.’
Phoenix brought his fiancée Rooney Mara into the call, who was just as excited to talk to the young environmental activist as he was.
“Greta” introduced a campaign called “Stars Save the Earth,” in which she wanted to enlist celebrities to help spread awareness of climate change. Phoenix and Mara enthusiastically supported this move, offering to help in any way they could.

India, EU sign civil nuclear cooperation agreement on eve of Summit.

India and the European Union (EU) on Tuesday signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement on the eve of a virtual summit, while Europol and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are negotiating a working arrangement to combat organised crime and terrorism.

The agreement between the European Atomic Energy Community or Euratom and Indian authorities will focus on cooperation between EU’s research programmes on new ways of using nuclear energy and similar activities on the Indian side, EU officials said during a briefing for journalists.

“The agreement is on research and development cooperation for peaceful uses of nuclear energy, which was negotiated for 13 years and finally can be cemented by the summit,” said one of the EU officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The India-EU Summit, to be co-chaired on Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, is expected to focus on strengthening multilateralism and global institutions in the face of the rise of an increasingly assertive China.

The leadership of both sides are expected to reiterate their strong commitment to combat terrorism in all forms during the summit, the EU officials said. The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation or Europol and CBI are negotiating a working arrangement that will support law enforcement authorities of EU member states and India to prevent and combat organised crime and terror, they said.

Asked specifically about the India-China border standoff, the EU officials described the recent incidents on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as a matter of considerable concern.

“We are pleased to see that since these very deadly clashes took place on the LAC, both sides have committed to show restraint, to engage in military de-escalation and to engage in dialogue,” one of the officials said.

Reports showed there has been a withdrawal of troops by both sides in key areas, and diplomatic and military efforts are having a “de-escalatory effect and we trust that both sides will continue dialogue to find a peaceful solution to their differences”, the official added.

However, the EU officials said two sides are “quite far apart” on the issue of a Bilateral Trade and Investment Agreement (BTIA), negotiations for which were suspended in 2017. They were also critical of what they described as “protectionist” measures adopted by India and the termination of bilateral investment treaties with 25 EU member states.

The trade relationship was far below the potential, with India accounting for less than 3% of EU’s total trade, they said. They added EU wants an ambitious and comprehensive trade agreement that brings in strong rules, removes barriers to trade in goods and services and investments and opens up human markets.

“India maintains a quite protectionist stance when it comes to negotiations on tariffs and on opening up its services sector, it goes backward in many areas, [such as] reducing access to the Indian procurement market for European companies,” one of the EU officials said. “At the moment, we are quite far apart in agreeing on joint operations we want to see in such an exercise.”

EU is looking forward to the launch of a high-level trade dialogue between the EU trade commissioner and India’s comer minister to address these issues, they said.

Besides the trade dialogue and a cooperation roadmap for the period till 2025, other deliverables expected from the summit are a joint declaration on circular economy and resource efficiency, the renewal of a science and technology cooperation agreement, the launch of a new maritime security dialogue, and the development of security and defence consultations and military contacts, the officials said.

Not India related.
https://www.ecfr.eu/publications/summar ... olitical_e

https://www.ecfr.eu/page/-/the_big_engi ... ermany.pdf
ECFR sent invitations to complete the questionnaire by email to foreign ministries, government and parliament offices, think-tanks, research institutions, journalists, and other organisations that work on European affairs. The 2020 edition is based on the expert opinions of 845 respondents. For each EU member state, between 15 and 51 respondents answered the questions.
When French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel announced they would support a €500 billion EU bond to help with Europe’s economic recovery, it was not quite François Mitterrand and Helmut Kohl holding hands in Verdun.
Since the publication of the first edition of the Coalition Explorer, in 2016, the overall picture has largely remained the same: Germany is the EU’s centre of gravity – its most influential country. This time, a whopping 97 per cent of respondents to the survey held this view. Germany is firmly embedded at the centre of a web of connections, relationships, and alliances that stretches across the EU. In 2020 Germany is once again not only the most-contacted country (82 per cent), receiving votes from every EU member state, but is also perceived as the most responsive and the easiest to work with (55 per cent). It ranks in first place on the question of shared interests in EU policy – albeit with only 44 per cent of the vote.
The EU27 survey shows that Germany’s relations with other states are not evenly balanced – everybody contacts Berlin, but Berlin is not equally responsive. Germany reaches out to France more often than any other EU country, followed – albeit at a distance – by the Netherlands and Austria. Spain, Poland, and Italy (in descending order) are also on the list of those contacted regularly by Germany.
This second-place status is a recurring theme of France’s role in Europe. Experts and policymakers around Europe see France as influential and important, but always after Germany. The German juggernaut, it seems, cannot be overtaken – charming presidents notwithstanding. While France sometimes comes close to rivalling Germany, the United Kingdom’s departure from the EU has ensured that there is no competition for second place. The Netherlands’ position in third place on most questions is quite remarkable, given the country’s size. It is an achievement that deserves its own analysis, especially since respondents agree that no one does more to punch above their weight than the Dutch.
France’s position is stronger among southern European respondents, who report that they often contact the country and work well with it. In Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, and Spain, at least 80 per cent of respondents view France as easy to work with. This suggests that France can build bridges between northern and southern Europe: all southern European respondents list France among the countries they contact most; and Italy, Greece, and Cyprus even view France as their most important interlocutor.

Recent compromises on EU bonds suggest that one of the biggest roles that France can play is in influencing Germany. This is also reflected in language – initially, German elites were no fans of the “European sovereignty” line used by their French partners. Now, even the German foreign minister cites this term as a primary goal for the German EU presidency. And, as France builds bridges to the south, Germany can do so to the east.

Editorial in the American Express -- repeats John Kerry's gurglings about climate change and "net zero" and wants to impose some sort of "international order" on India. Same Biden shyte in an european package. EU/Germany's trade with China has increased in the past year, and in this context we have this aryan brother preaching the same message that Xiden did a few weeks ago.
the region’s rise has created three Asias. There is the familiar Asia of business — open, dynamic, interconnected. However, there is also an Asia of geopolitics, with ever-starker nationalisms, territorial conflicts, arms races and Sino-American rivalry. Lastly, we have an Asia of global challenges, without which fair globalisation and getting on top of the pandemic or the climate crisis are impossible.

So, "open dynamic, interconnected" == south korea, Japan(?)
"asia of Geopolitics and Nationalism" == China, the main business partner of the aryan nations in EU, and India with its Yindoo notionalists.
"asia of challenges" == India (maye) and everyone else in asia

The message is still about "climate crisis" -- another way of pushing "net zero", which seems to be inspired by Greta Thunberg's grades in school when she took a year off and boldly asked no one in particular: "how dare you?".

If this message from the EU is about the paris accords, they can't say anything that India has not already done above and beyond.

so this seems like another attempt to get the "asia of challenges" to hobble itself for the benefit of neo-imperial powers, US/UK/EU. *Yawn*

What is interesting is "there is also an Asia of geopolitics, with ever-starker nationalisms", which could refer to China or it could refer to the Mudi, who must rejine if you read what the nazi turds in Deutsche welle have to say about Yindoo nationalist these days, and even before these days.

Geopolitical rivalries threaten free trade. The fight against the pandemic is mutating into a systemic competition between democracy and authoritarianism.
What free trade is being threatened? And what is this "systemic competition" that is different from what the colonials have been indulging in for the past few centuries? This whole "democracy and authoritarianism" shyte being repeated by these white christians in EU and USA is laughable when both the americans and Germans are making all their money from the "authoritarians" while they preach about "climate change" and "religious freedom" to the "democracies".

What is this free trade that is being threatened today in Asia, that was not being threatened 10 years ago, when Germans, USA, and the Chinese CCP where feeling each other up on hot sultry nights? Sure China is putting the screws on EU, Australia and the rest of the jerks, which is not a bad thing, really. About time someone did it them tools.
For open economies and free trade; for the fight against pandemics and climate change; and for an inclusive, rules-based order.
Against the same "inclusive rules-based order" shyte where they get to create the rules while they still can, as this guy admits shortly after.
To my mind, this shows that if we Europeans do not become more proactive, others will write the rulebook of the future.
Make them all sign on the dotted line before they get too powerful...same old trick that started with the East India Company, or the dutch did when they bought New York for 60 guilders from some bunch of guys that did not use money for commerce. Now the Dutch and Germans think that they can do it again 400 years later. They can try.

Europeans have been writing the rulebook for a few centuries, so maybe other should write a new rulebook for the future.
Just emphasises that this whole "rules-based order" nonsense must be treated with the contempt it deserves. After all, we are allegedly living in a "rules based order" imposed by post-world war II colonial and imperial powers today.
we will hold close consultations with the new administration under US President Joe Biden with a view to ensuring fair market access and investment conditions.
Biden sends warships to India's EZ yesterday, and today we have this.
We are underscoring Germany’s interest in cooperation, open shipping routes and respect for international law — the sanctions against North Korea are a case in point — by dispatching a German Navy vessel to the region and signing up to the agreement on combating piracy in Asia
Suddenly, every neo-imperial scumbag and his mother-in-law has "Respect for international law" when they have not bothered to follow these rules if it was not convenient to them.

As for EU sanctions against North Korea, it is no secret that they are about as effective as a toot in the wind -- China continues and will continue to fill in the gaps, and keep North Korea's economy going, even with all these EU/US sanctions in place.
The Leaders Summit on Climate that will be hosted by the US next week sets the stage for cooperation. Germany and Europe will stand to benefit from this, as we have been investing in renewable energies, climate protection and biodiversity in the Indo-Pacific for many years.
Same old "net zero" carbon emissions shyte that John Kerry presented from his bag of used diapers.
Europe will continue to stand up for human rights and democracy in the Indo-Pacific. We demonstrated this recently with sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in Xinjiang — and also against Myanmar’s generals, who are taking their country to the brink of civil war.
Same old "hyooman rites so important" song that these guys sing with easter eggs in hand, waiting for Myanmar to rise again as a friendly christian nation. The song and dance from the EU and the US is so obviously orchestrated that it would be foolish to fall for it.

What a wonderful time to be alive.

Unlike the aryan nation (Germany), France has been pragmatic and non-interfering:
A statement by the Ministry of External Affairs said that India welcomes France’s decision to take up the “Maritime Resources” pillar of India’s Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI).

The French minister arrived here on Monday evening on a three-day visit to explore ways to further boost cooperation between the two countries, including in the Indo-Pacific region.

Paradise Lost- Joe Biden Declares War on Tax Havens – in Europe, Too
U.S. President Joe Biden is calling for a minimum corporate tax rate of 21 percent for companies. But countries like Ireland and Luxembourg have established a lucrative revenue stream through big breaks for multinationals. A number of EU countries could soon feel the pinch.
By David Böcking, Martin Hesse, Christian Reiermann und Michael Sauga, 20.04.2021

If you want to know why a company should have its headquarters in Ireland these days, the best place to ask is IDA Ireland, the government’s foreign direct investment agency based in Dublin. The Emerald Isle, their lobbyists rave, has a "great density of data centers.” It advertises the country’s large pool of young talent with above-average qualifications as well as international and innovative companies, ranging from Microsoft and Facebook to German corporations such as Allianz, Zalando and SAP.
But when asked if perhaps the real attraction for investors is the extremely low corporate tax rate of 12.5 percent, the IDA declines to answer. For that, the agency says, it is best to contact Paschal Donohoe, the Irish finance minister and chair of the Eurogroup.
The man currently finds himself facing a problem that has become a concern for all of Europe. Since U.S. President Joe Biden presented his groundbreaking proposal for a global minimum tax on corporate profits, old rifts have ripped open again on the Continent. Whereas large member states such as Germany approve of the move, it would hit smaller EU members like Ireland, the Netherlands and Slovakia hard.
For years, they have lured international corporations into their countries with the promise that they will be largely spared from the grasp of the domestic tax authorities. If the U.S. gets its way, that could be the end of it.
Numerous EU countries would not only have to reckon with revenue losses in the billions, but also with the loss of corporate headquarters and thousands of jobs. Countries like France or Italy, on the other hand, would feel vindicated. Out of anger with corporations like Amazon that have barely paid any taxes at all in Europe in recent years, they enacted their own digital taxes - and drew the ire of Donald Trump by doing so. The former U.S. president even threatened retaliatory tariffs on German cars, Italian cheese and French handbags. Now, the U.S. has performed a spectacular about-face – and raised difficult questions for the Europeans: How seriously must pledges from Brussels to fight tax evasion be taken? Would it just be the tax havens that have to reckon with losses or would they also be painful for large exporting countries like Germany?

German company that sells ‘innovative’ leaf tableware gets schooled by desi tweeple
Leaf Republic, a German firm, came up with a collection of eco-friendly leaf tableware, which have been seen a routine presence at Indian households and social gatherings, especially at religious thoroughfares.

No wonder thus, the noble idea to reduce plastic waste, was met with much disdain and scorn by Twitter users in India. What left the desis more shocked is the pricing – what is available for a few pennies back home, is being sold at £8.50 per plate, close to Rs 700.

From comments on the appallingly exuberant price to imparting a bit of history knowledge on how the British had push-sold fancy bone-china crockery in India, killing the indigenous market, the netizens went on a no-holds-barred rant on social media.

Here’s what some had to say:

EU and India agree to resume long-stalled trade talks
The European Union and India agreed to restart talks on a free trade deal that have been frozen since 2013.
8 May 2021

The European Union and India have agreed to resume stalled free trade negotiations and seek closer cooperation to combat climate change at a virtual summit, as concerns about China bring Brussels and New Delhi closer.
Partly overshadowed by the COVID-19 crisis in India, the meeting on Saturday brought together Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and all of the bloc’s 27 leaders for the first time in eight years in a sign of the EU’s renewed interest in the Indo-Pacific region.
Past EU-India summits have involved only the Indian prime minister and the EU’s chief executive and chairman.China’s rise from a benign trading partner to a rival power with a growing military presence has alarmed the West and its allies in the Indo-Pacific, where Brussels wants more influence.
“We agreed to resume negotiations for a … trade agreement which would respond to the current challenges,” EU and Indian leaders said in a statement after the talks, adding that for talks to succeed, both sides had to solve market access issues.
In parallel, EU and India will start talks on a separate investment protection deal and an accord on geographical indications – famous brand names often linked to the places they are made, from France’s champagne to India’s Darjeeling tea. “Between the EU and India there is a close relationship but also a lot of untapped potential,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said. “The most untapped potential is in trade and investment.” China’s rise from a benign trading partner to a rival power with a growing military presence has alarmed the West and its allies in the Indo-Pacific, where Brussels wants more influence.

India, EU leadership summit 'turning point' in ties, says EU Envoy Ugo Astuto

Calling India, EU Leadership Summit of May 8 a "turning point" in ties, the European Union's Envoy to India Ugo Astuto has said, "We want to work together so that we can shape the global agenda". This is the second time this format of one world leader and all 27 EU member states meet happened, the first was with US President in March this year.
Speaking to WION, Envoy Astuto spoke about the connectivity partnership, a key outcome of the summit saying, "connectivity" should be "grounded in principles such as sustainability... transparency." The other key outcome of the summit was both sides decided to resume talks on India, EU Free trade agreement.
On Indo-Pacific, the Envoy said the Bloc's strategy is "close to the Indian vision" and "India is clearly a key player" in the region. In April, the European Council approves conclusions on EU's Indo-Pacific strategy. He also spoke on EU's assistance to India amid the Covid crisis, with flights from Finland, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Slovenia, Portugal, Malta expected to come to India soon.
On the outcome of the India-EU leadership summit, Envoy Astuto said, "It has been an extremely successful meeting. It has been described as a turning point, a historic meeting. The meeting has taken place against the backdrop of this major crisis of COVID, what emerged is a clear message of solidarity from EU and its member states vis a vis India in difficult times. India has been leading by supporting the rest of the world since the outset of the emergency, by exporting medicines and vaccines. We are trying to help India as much as we can that is why we have set up this operation within the civil protection mechanism. We have agreed on a connectivity partnership which I believe is an important platform grounded in our common belief in a rules-based system of international governance, cooperative approach to international relations."
In terms of FTA, the resumption of talks has been since it has been announced. On the timeline, the Envoy said, "These are complex negotiations. But what we have taken is the decision to resume the talks, the formal negotiations, and at the last summit in 2020, we had a high-level dialogue chaired by minister Goyal from the Indian side, on the European side by the executive vice president. This dialogue has proved to be very effective."

Phew. Come to India and visit temples. Ull get this donnai. What have u exactly invented ? We have been using leaf plates for centuries.
I had a project to import this stuff from Onfia. Authorities denied saying that these are not hygienic and are prone to be infected with bacteria, fungus , molds and what not.

Europe now literally looks like 'Hunger Games'. These images from Spain and the images coming out of rest of Europe the last few weeks with islamists going on a violent rampage makes me think the continent has less than 20 yrs before an open civil war begins in every country. The rapidly falling birth rates among natives, worshiping at the temple of wokeism and open borders have already put Europe on a path of no return.

Let them reap what they have sown. For a long time, they have vouched for their supremacy however just like Rome of lore, they have become soft, pinky and some even red.

However, what are the chances of Islamists militarily winning if they prematurely wage civil war without wealth or even mass? Sure, they will probably kill hundreds of thousands of people if not millions but can they topple the European governments and extinguish Christianity in Europe? In France, they tried it too early and got their Netherlands handed to them by Macron through effective legislature and police action.

Christian Europe has a most bloodthirsty record. Islam will do better to avoid an open confrontation.

I don't think their aim is to militarily win. Their aim is conversion and mass terrorism. Once the terrorism begins, economy goes for a toss and then conversion starts at the earliest. Legislation can do little if people themselves follow the religion of wokism. People of Europe are ill prepared to deal with people who are fanatics, have seen war along with hardships it brings and are on a Islamic Jihad campaign. They will win through demography soon enough. And Christianity's hold on Europe is fading. They are now embracing wokeism.

why is everyone expecting them to surrender so tamely

I am very sure that they have a play in mind where their societies are not eclipsed by mere unwashed migrants

They fought and ended up on the winning side in two world wars, and for what, do you think that it is only to lie down tamely and docilely a few decades later and get screwed out of their countries some by illiterate jehadi muslims

they will strip these jehadi refugees of their voting and other rights at the very first chance they are able to manufacture

Its a mistake to assume the future Europe and Europeans will have the same tenacity and ruthlessness of the Europe of the past. This is for 2 good reasons -

1. Demographics. The birth rate have been on a steady decline among native europeans for decades now, but this century it has completely collapsed.
2. Islamists are not stupid to confront the natives militarily, atleast not yet. What we are seeing from UK to Germany to Sweden to Denmark is islamists are ingraining themselves in politics, lobbying groups and even law enforcement. How will there be legislative reforms when the legislature is influenced by the unwashed Abduls from Lahore ?

Everyone is expecting them to surrender so meekly because the world wars and Hitler’s actions have made the Europeans mentally paralyzed. If they had intended to take action or had a plan in place, they would have implemented it by now. And except France's knee-jerk reaction to the beheadings no other country has any plans on how to deal with it. When are they going to implement their so called plans? After 20 years? When the demography is already tilted in favour of the jihadis?

Vicious Cycle Middle East Crisis Ratchets Up Anti-Semitism in Germany
The effects of the renewed violence in the Middle East can be felt in Germany. In the past several days, anti-Semitism has spilled out into the open. What can be done about it?
Katrin Elger, Annette Großbongardt, Roman Lehberger, Tobias Rapp, Hannes Schrader und Wolf Wiedmann-Schmidt, 21.05.2021

....
Not everyone who recently attended pro-Palestinian demonstrations in Germany, though, shares Al-Awad’s views. In the Berlin neighborhood of Neukölln last weekend, the situation grew out of control. Instead of the 80 participants organizers had predicted, some 3,500 showed up – and some chanted anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic slogans. "Muhammad’s army will return!” or "Take aim at Tel Aviv!” Many participants wore Palestinian headscarves and some of the men wore camouflage or Salafist clothing. Others waved Turkish flags and made the hand signals from the Grey Wolves, a Turkish right-wing extremist group. Marching along with them was a group of left-wing extremists flying the red, communist flag with a hammer and sickle.
There was plenty of activity on social media channels as well. One Jewish resident of Berlin received a comment in English on Instagram reading: "I miss Hitler. He should come back for a quick extermination.” It was far from the only comment of this kind.
It is far from the first wave of aggressive anti-Semitism to have broken in Germany over the past several years. The coronavirus pandemic, most recently, has added fuel to anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. According to central crime statistics, the number of anti-Semitic crimes in the country has risen each year since 2015 – from 1,366 that year to 2,351 now, a rise of more than two-thirds. The police believe right-wing extremists are responsible for almost 95 percent of them, which is also a function of the fact that incidents in which the perpetrator cannot be identified are frequently assumed to have been the handiwork of right-wing extremists.

Belarus forces airliner to land and arrests opponent, sparking U.S. and European outrage
Andrey Ostroukh and Andrius Sytas, May 23, 2021

MOSCOW (Reuters) -Belarusian authorities scrambled a fighter jet and flagged what turned out to be a false bomb alert to force a Ryanair plane to land on Sunday and then detained an opposition-minded journalist who was on board, drawing condemnation from Europe and the United States.
In what was described by some EU leaders as a hijacking, the passenger plane flying from Athens to Lithuania was suddenly diverted to Minsk, the capital of Belarus, escorted there by a Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jet. On its landing, authorities took journalist Roman Protasevich into custody.
Protasevich had his head in his hands and was shaking when he realised the flight was headed for Minsk, Lithuania's Delfi news outlet said, quoting a passenger. Later, as he was led away, according to the report, he remarked: "I'll get the death penalty here." Reuters could not verify the report.
The 26-year-old journalist worked for Poland-based online news service NEXTA, which broadcast footage of mass protests against Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko last year via the Telegram messenger app at a time when it was hard for foreign media to do so.
Protasevich who now works for a different Telegram channel called Belamova, is wanted in Belarus on extremism charges and stands accused of organising mass riots and of inciting social hatred, allegations he denies.
Data from the flightradar24.com website showed the plane was diverted just two minutes before it was due to cross into Lithuanian airspace. After seven hours on the ground, the plane took off and finally landed in Vilnius where Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte was waiting to meet the passengers.

Fury over Belarus airliner action set to dominate EU summit
Sabine Siebold and John Chalmers, May 24, 2021

BRUSSELS,(Reuters) - Fury over the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Belarus has upended the agenda of a European Union summit dinner on Monday, where leaders were due to discuss relations with Russia and Britain but will now also consider punitive steps against Minsk.
Belarusian authorities scrambled a fighter jet and flagged what turned out to be a false bomb alert to force the civilian aircraft to land on Sunday and then detained an opposition-minded journalist who was among the passengers on board.
The diversion of a plane owned by an EU company that was flying between two EU capitals was "an inadmissible step", the bloc's foreign policy chief said, and it would be raised at the summit.
"The EU will consider the consequences of this action, including taking measures against those responsible," Josep Borrell said in a statement on Monday. The president of the 27-nation EU's executive, Ursula von der Leyen, tweeted on Sunday that "the outrageous and illegal behaviour of the regime in Belarus will have consequences". The EU has already imposed three rounds of sanctions on Belarus in response to last year's contested presidential election there, and even before the Ryanair incident had been working on a fourth round targeting senior officials.
Additional sanctions could now include suspending overflights of all EU airlines over Belarus, banning Belarusian airline Belavia from landing at EU airports or suspending all transit, including ground transit, from Belarus to the EU, according to an official for the bloc.

How Far Will the Belarusian Dictator Go in Hunting Down the Opposition?
The hijacking of a passenger plane shows the extremes to which Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is willing to go in his efforts to persecute his opponents abroad. Members of the opposition fear further shocking acts of repression.
By Giorgos Christides, Christian Esch, Christina Hebel, Katrin Kuntz und Alexander Sarovic, 28.05.2021

Two young people in their enemies' clutches. In two videos, each 30 seconds long, they introduce themselves and their offenses. Roman Protasevich, 26 years old, looks directly into the camera, speaking loudly and clearly. "I continue cooperating with investigators and am confessing to having organized mass unrest in the city of Minsk,” he says. His girlfriend, Sofia Sapega, 23, allows her gaze to wander around the room. She barely moves her lips. "I am also the editor of the Telegram channel Black Book of Belarus that published personal information about employees of the Interior Ministry,” she says.
These two young people are the spoils dictator Alexander Lukashenko can show following the forced rerouting of Ryanair Flight 4978 from Athens to Vilnius last Sunday. Lukashenko was willing to risk a worldwide outcry to get his hands on Protasevich and Sapega. Greece’s foreign minister called the incident an "act of state air piracy.” Poland’s prime minister decried what he called an "unprecedented act of state terrorism.” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, for his part, called for an independent international investigation.
By targeting air traffic flying between the capitals of two European Union member states, Lukashenko has isolated his country even further than it already was. European airlines are no longer landing in Minsk and are avoiding the airspace over Belarus. The national airline Belavia, furthermore, is no longer allowed to fly to many destinations in Europe. Neighboring Ukraine has stopped all air traffic with Belarus.
Brussels is now considering implementing sanctions against entire sectors of the Belarusian economy – measures that would affect the export of petroleum products and potash fertilizer as well as the financial system. Such restrictions would hit Lukashenko’s regime much harder than any air-space restrictions.
Lukashenko has clung to power in Belarus for 27 years now – longer than Protasevich and Sapega have been alive. After protests last summer, his regime brought quiet to the country with an iron fist. But now we are seeing that it isn’t enough for Lukashenko to spread fear through Belarus alone – he wants to extend his shadow across Europe. He also doesn’t appear to fear sanctions, believing himself to be under the protective wing of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

I got Indian mangos for the first time. This market was occupied by Bakistani rotten mangos. Paid 10 Euro for a box of 4 small mangos. Sub loot rahe hein. we get seedless grapes from Pune at normal rate in supermarket but mangos are different story. Once hyperstores start imports things will be different.if Europe starts imports from India lot of Latin American and African countries will go bankrupt. Case of Guava is even worse.Either you get Egyptian mini guava or Chinese guava which are as big as melon. Both are tasteless.

No European Union 'Green Pass' for India-made Covishield, yet
Travellers vaccinated with Covishield, manufactured by Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), may not be eligible for the European Union ‘Green Pass’, being launched to enable easy travel into and between EU countries.
but,
According to schengenvisainfo.com - EU's official portal for visa-related information - only the Vaxzervia version of AstraZeneca vaccine - manufactured in the UK and other sites in Europe - is eligible for Green Pass. The Covishield version of AstraZeneca, produced by Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII), has not been included in the list.

Oh this because of reputation tarnished by chaos during second wave and I am sure that Germans are behind this. But what stops India from paying in same coin? Covexin and covishield are to be made mandatory upon arrival in India.Medicine that work Homo Sapines in one part of world , is good for other part.
India can take EU to court.
