Dayanand Pandey

This is back to the South Gujarat (Dangs) Conversionist agenda. He is the main obstacle to the conversionists there, I believe. This is the person who is a.k.a. "Swami Aseemananda", right?

If so, then the Teesta Setalwad connection comes up in flashing red lights again, and with it, all sorts of unsavory connections like the Ajit Yogi / INC gang in Chattisgarh, Communists in the US (FOIL), the Communist web in France, their links to the FOSA and the "Dalits" which means the rabid conversionist churches in Colorado and Tennessee, etc. etc. etc. "Retaliation for Orissa" maybe, for these gangs. They tried in 2002-03 and failed, now they are back with a huge attack.

VHP: Investigate Sonia & Opus Dei Links

New Delhi, Nov 25: The Viswa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Tuesday linked Congress president Sonia Gandhi with the Catholic organisation Opus Dei (God's Work) and urged the government to conduct a probe to uncover the mastermind behind the unusual deaths of her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi, husband Rajiv Gandhi and brother-in-law Sanjay Gandhi.

Describing Sonia Gandhi as the “daughter of Vatican” and Opus Dei, the “global Catholic outfit” that has an anti-India agenda, VHP president Ashok Singhal said: “Investigations must be made into the relationship between Sonia Gandhi and the Opus Dei and in this light, investigations must also be made to find the mastermind behind the unusual death of Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.”

He also alleged that Opus Dei was behind the arrest of Sadhvi Prgnya Singh Thakur, and the apparent move by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and the CBI to implicate VHP leader Pravin Togadia and other Hindu leaders in the Sept 29 Malegaon blast that killed six people and injured many more.

“For this conspiracy, a foreign woman has been planted and the Opus Dei, with which the woman is associated with, has been appointed three years ago to materialise the anti-India agenda. A foreign woman had revealed this secret to a prominent person three years ago,” Singhal maintained.{which woman, other than Sonia, hs is talking about}

Singhal accused the ATS of “disrobing the innocent Sadhvi, tried to show her blue (obscene) CDs and questioned her chastity, thereby outraging the dignity of a chaste woman.”

“The subject of humiliation of Hindu sants (seers) and organisations would certainly be an election issue,” he added.

Mumbai train blasts accused arrested in United Kingdom :Praveen Swami
Mumbai train blasts accused arrested in United Kingdom

Praveen Swami

NEW DELHI: United Kingdom authorities are reported to have detained Rahil Abdul Rahman Sheikh — a Mumbai resident the Maharashtra Police say was among the principal architects of the 2006 Mumbai train blasts, which claimed 185 lives.

Interpol, the international police organisation, had issued a red corner notice seeking Mr. Sheikh’s arrest in May 2007.

Neither the Central Bureau of Investigation, nor the Ministry of External Affairs, offered official comment on Mr. Sheikh’s reported detention, saying they were yet to receive official word from authorities in the United Kingdom. However, Mumbai Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor told PTI that he had received a notice from Interpol’s office in India, asking for “evidence regarding Mr. Sheikh’s involvement in the July 11 bombings.”

Government sources in New Delhi said there was no immediate word either on the circumstances of Mr. Sheikh’s arrest, or when he had entered the United Kingdom.

Maharashtra Police investigators describe Mr. Sheikh, who is believed to have hidden out in Pakistan after the 2006 Mumbai bombings, as one of the Lashkar’s top Indian operatives. A resident of Mumbai’s Grant Road area, Mr. Sheikh is thought to have come into contact with the Lashkar through the proscribed Students Islamic Movement of India, which Maharashtra Police believe he joined around 1999.

“When we receive formal notification of Mr. Sheikh’s arrest from our counterparts in the United Kingdom,” a Central Bureau of Investigation official told The Hindu, “we shall have to provide evidence to a court there to support our demand that he be handed over to India.”
Was this Sheikh another of Lt. Col Purohit's boys?

What does ATS think? Maybe they will subject another round of drugs to the Hindu Terrorists.

Bet the extradiation trial will get bogged down due to the ATS inquiry.

Sadhvi ‘torture’ ball in govt court
OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
Mumbai, Nov. 25: The special court trying the Malegaon blast case today directed Maharashtra to reply to allegations of custodial torture levelled by sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, army officer Prasad Purohit and five other suspects.

Pragya, booked under the tough Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act, had yesterday told the court that anti-terrorist squad officials forced her to listen to an obscene CD and threatened to strip her. Purohit and the others arrested for the September 29 blast also alleged torture by ATS officials.

Special judge Y.D. Shinde asked the state government to file a detailed reply at the earliest. Though the court did not specify a date, sources said the reply could be filed on December 3 when all the seven would be brought to the court for request for police remand. The judge had yesterday sent the suspects to judicial custody.

Purohit’s lawyers filed a set of documents before the court, including letters commending the abilities of the military intelligence officer. One letter was from the Maharashtra ATS, which had invited Purohit to a workshop for officers.
Another letter was from Nashik police commissioner Himanshu Roy. “You (Purohit) have shared information of vital and sensitive nature with the police which has proved useful to both the organisations,” the November 2006 letter says.

A 2001 letter by an army commanding officer praised Purohit’s “daring and immediate” action when a group of terrorists tried to infiltrate an area manned by the 15 Maratha Light Infantry.

I have a hunch that real fall guy is pawar. He is the original amar singh when it comes to looking after the Arab interests in India. He has the history of lifting the sagging moral of Muslim masses. Be it Bomaby blasts of 1993 or arranging the exit of Dawood's mother and this Jamia encounter.

Malegaon blast suspects were trained to lie
“Injure yourself if you have to”; “complain of torture”; “make personal, embarrassing allegations against the police in court.” These are some instructions members of Abhinav Bharat were given at a training camp conducted by Lt Col Purohit, reports HT.

Sharard Pawar has made lots of money, all of that through high corruption. Sharad Pawar controls few things in India – Cricket (through BCCI), Sugar (Marathwada region is a big sugar belt, while sugar mills in UP/Bihar are dying, the one in MH are flourishing), agriculture (being agro minister), and all other tuff that happens in Mumbai (commerce and real state, when textile mills moved out of Mumbai, Sharad Pawar made a killing facilitating these transfer of land).

Sugar in 19th century was what oil is in the 20th century. In this century also sugar is one of the largest traded commodities (2% by weight of all traded commodity). India being the second largest producer (and I guess one of the top 10 consumer), lots of sugar is traded illegally from Mumbai ports. Pawar has a huge cut in that and that is his source of power in western Maharastra (almost all big politician owns sugar mill). No wonder he cherishes agro ministry so much.

The BCCI budget of few 100 millions of dollar is a joke. The underhand dealing is a larger amount. The last worldcup had $1 billion ad deals. Pawar gets his cut there. Again that explains why he wants to be BCCI chairman no matter what.

Even as Agro minister, he facilitates export of agro product that would/should not have been exported due to domestic shortage. He gets cuts from that.

The real state in Mumbai is another source of his income. I could give a very personal source, but I guess both me and BR would be in lots of legal trouble for that quote. Mr. Pawar is said to be in the loop when real estate deal happens.

He is the most corrupt politician in India, easily with double digit billions of dollar worth of money in Swiss bank and Middle East. So in that respect the west/arabs have his balls in a vice. He has to do their bidding (which he does) so that he is not exposed and his money is not lost. He is a real Trojan horse.

Revealed: Godman's links with Lt Col Purohit

Vicky Nanjappa | November 25, 2008 | 11:39 IST

Self-styled godman Dayanand Pandey has emerged as one of the key persons in the Malegaon blast case. During his narco analysis test, he had revealed that it was sadhvi Pragya Singh who had allegedly masterminded the Malegaon blasts to hit back at the Students Islamic Movement of India who she thought had killed her friend, Sunil Joshi.

Exclusive: Why Malegaon blast was carried out

He also mentions during the test that he had introduced the sadhvi to Lt Col Purohit who in turn allegedly helped in undertaking the attack. The question now is how did Pandey get in touch with Purohit and what is the association between these two men.

During the test conducted on Pandey at Bangalore last week, he goes on to explain as to how he got in touch with Purohit. In a state of trance, Pandey reveals that while working for the Indian Air Force, he got in touch with Purohit who was in the military intelligence at that time.

He said both of them came close as they worked in the Marathwada region.

However, Pandey was sacked from service due as he had committed some irregularities. Later, he went on to start an ashram. He reveals that that in the ashram, he sheltered several boys. Investigating agencies claim that some of the boys were anti social elements and used to work for Pandey.

Purohit, however, continued his association with Pandey and used the latter's help to gather information about SIMI activists. During their several meetings, Pandey and Purohit discussed at length SIMI's activities. Both were in fact upset that SIMI continued to torment the nation with innumerable strikes and worse, the government was not acting upon this, Pandey revealed during the test.

Pandey states that, in the meantime, sadhvi Pragya had also approached him seeking help to strike against SIMI as they had killed her friend Sunil Joshi. Joshi is the same man, the sadhvi claims she sold her two-wheeler to. The same two-wheeler was used in the Malegaon blasts, which claimed six lives.

Pandey states that he got to know of Pragya after she had taken sanyas. She always looked up to him as a father figure and a mentor, he claims.

The self-styled godman says this was when the plan was hatched to carry out a strike. Since Purohit too was upset with the SIMI, he introduced him to the Sadhvi and decided that it would be a combined operation. According to Pandey, the plan was hatched and each one was assigned a different role.

While Pandey coordinated the attack, Sadhvi was in charge of planting the bombs while Purohit took care of assembling the bombs and arranging the explosives, Pandey further revealed to a startled investigating team.

Pandey says that Purohit, who was familiar with the activities of SIMI and their expertise to make bombs, got in touch with them for the Malegaon operation.

Purohit too had revealed during his narco analysis test that he had sought the help of local persons in Malegaon to assemble the bombs. The army officer said he threatened them and also lured them with money to assemble the bombs as they were reluctant at first.

Pandey says that members of the SIMI were used to assemble the bombs as they had expertise in the same.

Although the tests conducted on both Purohit and Pandey indicate exactly as to how the Malegaon blasts were planned there is still a bit of confusion over the procurement of the material used to make the bombs.

While the version that Purohit smuggled it out from the army base is a highly unbelievable one, there is also talk that the material was brought in from Jammu and later stored in Pune. The Mumbai Anti Terrorist Squad is investigating this angle too.

Nobody wants to answer where the two wheeler was after Sunil Joshi's murder.

Thanks for the compliment N.

But this article does not need any action.

It is after all "the truth".

What we have seen here is a great effort by the investigating agencies to nail the guilty of Hindu terrorism. Now that all connected cases of Hindu terrorism have been solved, we can rejoice that terrorism by the majority in India has been brought to an end.

But before people begin partying at this joyful event, I would like to point out the sobering fact that none of the cases of "Muslim terrorism" have been solved yet. As long as Muslim terrorist groups are not caught and brought to justice in the way Hindu terrorists have been dealt with - there is always the possibility that Muslim terrorism might recur.

I dread opening the papers in the morning to read news of yet another terrorist attack, And with Hindu terrorists having been caught and Muslim terrorists still at large, I hope that our praiseworthy and efficient investigating agencies redouble their efforts to bring to book the criminals of Muslim terrorism who have killed people in Delhi. Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Lucknow, Varanasi, Bangalore, Guwahati and other places in India.

It is commendable that the 10% of terrorist attacks conducted by the 80% majority have now been solved - a much more difficult task because the guilty needle was so much smaller than the innocent haystack. Now for the task of solving 90% of the crimes - which should be relatively easy with the 'smaller haystack" to search in.

I am happy to be able to say "Death to Hindu terrorism". I would now like to see a change from the current status of "Long live islamic terrorism"

Sorry, doc, you didn't understand that fully yet.

All those so called Muslim terrorism were in fact done by the Hindu terrorists. Those Hindu terrorists funded ignorant SIMI elements to plant bombs to instigate majority community against Muslims to take revange against partition, and atrocities done to Hindus in Bangaldesh and Kashmir.

It would be funny if it wasn't half true. It won't be far fetched if someone goes ahead and claims this while shouting into some loudspeaker at a rally, only to make it gospel. Mahesh Bhatt can take this idea and make yet another movie with a Muslim protagonist!

When the sensational news of the suspects identity was first broached to the media, the majority of ordinary people thought that therewhile there could be "no smoke without fire" in the case,t wass perfectly understandable that in the absence of any visible effort on the part of this GOI during its term to tackle mounting Islamist terror, orchestrated from without the country using cells within, especially SIMI,that an equal and opposite reaction might happen.Outlook mag also reported that our dear NSA allegedly was too busy for a few months "tying " up MMS's vote on the N-deal in parliament rather than fighting the wave of serial terror blasts across the country.later on,with the selective leaks to the media, the entire affair has become a circus show, where the clowns have taken over from the ringmaster and buffoonery is at its highest.Even if the accused are as guilty as hell,no alley cat or stray dog worth its vagrancy rights will believe so in the manner in which the manipulation of this case has been accomplished.

As another post said,is this farce being engineered to cast doubts upon the evidence obtained from those held for the serial blasts and other terror acts? The idea being that the entire lot can thus escape justice. What this is doing to the entire law and order machinery and especially investigative arms of the law is simplu scandalous. It threatens to derail the entire anti-terror capability of the country, thanks to MMS and his buffoon HM,whom we are told is at odds with him because arch crony-capitalist MMS wants the Naxalaites to be branded as the leading danger to the country and not the Islamist terrorists because of the Muslim votebank!

To my mind, the greatest danger to the country is our dear PM who has already sold our nuclear deterrence and our indigenous N-technolgy down the Potomac, has fashioned economic policies that have produced such enormous economic inequality between rural Indian and the urban elite, where farmer' suicides take place daily whilst the elite are pampaered with the most expensive toys available globally.Just the other day aboard a ferry where I spied a sign where a small cabin cruiser was being offered at a discount ,price of ..1.25 crores, whereas a poor farmer wouldn't even be able to pay for the price of the ferry ride! Producing such poverty and thus being in fact the chief promoter of Naxalism across India, our dear PM wishes to whitewash the ungodly perpetrators of Islamist terror. In fact, like a true coward,he cannot even bring himself to utter these words for fear of being dumped into history's dustbin in the coming elections.

PS:Will a future PM and administration of the country subject these worthy stalwarts themselves to "narco-analysis" in the future? We can surly expect some juicy revelations at that time!

Looks like we are getting biases by giving only links that will hurt our sentiments. This is a matter that has to be looked proper sprit. Currently we are just posting the writing things which we want (pro-hindutva) rather than being neutral and judging the issues.

In the link which I posted earlier it says "asking her hear an obscene CD"
and
you link says "she was made to listen to some tapes which were offensive to his client"

I don't see much difference.
As far as biasness is concerned its the goverment who should be blamed for this.
Whatever they had against these accused, they should have stated in the court. But they turned this very sensitive case into Arushi Murder case. A police+ media drama to gain votes. Now people have started thinking that there is more than just grabbing votes. From now on, no terrorist will be caught for sure at least for sometime.

Malegaon probe in final stages: ATS
On Tuesday a local court in Mumbai asked the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to respond to claims of torture by sadhvi Pragya, Lt Col Purohit and others accused in the Malegaon blasts, but as that battle continues the ATS says they have now reached the final stages of their investigation.

The charges of torture and abuse, say investigators are only a diversion. Just as the Malegaon case reaches its final stages, two critical sources of information fast tracked the investigation:

One is the laptop of Swami Dayanand Pande

He had an odd fetish for recording conversations (2 dozen recorded conversations) about the Malegaon plot and their ideology

He even has made video recordings (2 dozen video recordings) of some of their meetings

The other is the testimony of Ajay Rahirkar, the treasurer of Abhinav Bharat and very close to Lt Col Purohit.

Rahirkar who was present at many of the critical meetings is freely sharing information. He may even be persuaded to turn approver.

The origins of these groups coming together is unclear since they inhabited the same sphere. There was much meeting and interaction but one clue is on the Swami's video is a meeting in October of 2007.

It was attended by Pande, Purohit, Chaturvedi and Kulkarni. In it can be heard saying, "Let us have simultaneous blasts in Muslim areas on Id."

This group and its members went on to hold a series of meetings over the next 7-8 months in the towns and cities (Jabalpur, Indore, Bhopal, Deolali, Nasik and Pune) that would come to define the geography of the conspiracy.

This built up towards a critical meeting in June 2008 which introduced the sadhvi to this conspiracy, one which also suggests that she had a wider role other than just being the former owner of the bike that was used.

This was a meeting that takes place in June of 2008 in Indore at the Circuit House where Dayanand Pande was staying.

The sadhvi introduced members of her group, Ramji Kalsangra and others to the Swami. She says this is a bunch of 'brave boys, willing to do anything'.

Her group was formed roughly two months earlier in June. Her philosophy for the group: The RSS was too udasin or weak, that this was a krantikari or revolutionary group, willing to take risks.

This meeting was to set the stage for another meeting, two months later, in August this year in Indore where the plot took final shape.

The Indore meeting was attended by Dayanand Pande, Colonel Purohit, Ajay Rahirkar and Shyam Apte.

According to Rahirkar the Swami asked Purohit to give explosives to Ramji Kalsangra and Sandeep Dangle.

The Swami described them as a group of 'good boys who work systematically'. He said, "They take great care in calling, never from the same number."

Purohit said that he 'already knew the group'.

Rahirkar then gave Rs 5 lakhs to Dayanand Pande, of this Purohit said he 'needed a lakh for grenades and explosives'.

Purohit then orgainses the explosives from Pune which are handed over to the two men, Ramji Kaslgare and Sandeep Dangle who in all probability planted the bomb.

Both are missing today and the ATS says, the moment they are caught they are ready to go public with the case

What is the Truth, Mr. Prime Minister?

Arvind Lavakare
http://sify.com/news/fullstory.php?id=14804178
Monday, 24 November , 2008, 14:38

Arvind Lavakare may be 71, but the fire in his belly burns stronger than in
many people half his age. The economics post-graduate worked with the
Reserve Bank of India and several private and public sector companies before
retiring in 1997. His first love, however, remains sports. An accredited
cricket umpire in Mumbai, he has reported and commented on cricket matches
for newspapers, Doordarshan and AIR. Lavakare has also been regularly
writing on politics since 1997, and published a monograph, The Truth About
Article 370, in 2005.

Malegaon has become a maze --- a maze wherein it's become impossible at this
stage to differentiate between what is true and what is fictitious about the
bomb blasts in that town in Maharashtra on September 29 this year.

Over the last few weeks, the state's Anti-terror Squad has probably created
a record of sorts for the India police with almost one startling public
revelation a day, only to have egg on its face soon enough.

At the moment of writing this, it seems as if the Maharashtra ATS has not
only been out of its depth on the matter but out of its head as well. Sad to
say, even our daily media, supposed to be the fourth pillar of democracy,
has been sucked in by sheer sensationalism into that mindless whirlpool.

In the beginning one had accepted the possibility, however remote, of a
sadhvi being one of those who had a hand in the Malegaon blast. The first
news had said that it was her motorbike that was used to plant the bomb. But
it soon enough transpired that she had sold the two-wheeler four years ago
to a man named Sunil Joshi and signed the relevant papers for transferring
its ownership. Even then the ATS kept pointing at the sadhvi with a finger
of guilt, publicly disclosing that it had a transcript of her several phone
calls expressing her apprehension over the sale of her two-wheeler. One
still thought it possible that the sadhvi had something to hide, especially
when the chief district judge in Nashik (a city in Maharashtra) granted the
ATS demand for remanding her to police custody.

The shocking truth came when Mahesh Jethmalani, an eminent crime lawyer,
came on Times Now television and told viewers that the police remand
applications against the sadhvi had absolutely no evidence against her. When
asked about the telephone transcripts which the Maharashtra ATS had publicly
spoken about, the lawyer smiled and said that there was absolutely no
mention of any telephone conversation in the remand applications.

An aside in the above TV news item was the TV anchor's perverse persistence
on knowing why Jethmalani had chosen to represent the sadhvi. The latter's
reply was polite, saying that the accused's family had approached him; he
would have been justified in telling the anchor that why he took the
sadhvi's brief was not his business and beyond the subject of the question
being debated. The little incident showed up how our media looks with dark
suspicion even on something that doesn't concern it.

Jethmalani's disclosure on the utter lack of evidence against the sadhvi
opened up a can of worms regarding the Maharashtra ATS investigations" in
the Malegaon blasts of 2008.

See, for instance, the ATS giving the sadhvi two forensic tests ---
psychological profiling and polygraph (lie-detector) --- even without
elementary evidence of guilt. And, as it later transpired from the sadhvi's
affidavit on oath, the 38-year-old woman was detained by the police from
October 10 but was formally arrested only on October 24 --- a shocking
illegality on the face of it. A queer associated event was that Sunil Joshi,
(the alleged buyer of the sadhvi's ), had reportedly been shot dead by two
men exactly 10 months before the Malegaon blast, but Joshi's cell phone,
taken away by one of his murderers who were later apprehended, has not been
traced as yet. "Off the record, officials said that there had been pressure
'right from the top' to go slow in the matter" reported The Indian Express
in its Mumbai edition of November 21. "Pressure from the top" to avoid
checking on the phone of someone who had purchased the guilty bike from the
allegedly guilty sadhvi? Strange, very very strange.

See, again, the ATS revelation that Lt.Colonel Purohit, whom it suspects of
being a "mastermind" behind the Malegaon blast, was also behind the
Samjhauta Express blast of February 2007. That bomb blast tragedy had not
showed up any trace of RDX --- 60 kgs of which Purohit is alleged to have
stolen from Army Stores and part of which he supposedly used in the Malegaon
blast as well as for the train tragedy. That the ATS was quick to deny this
allegation is one proof of its bumbling ways.

Now consider the ATS allegation that Purohit had stolen 60 kgs of RDX. Now
that quantity is just too big to be hidden in the records of Army Stores or
Ordnance factories --- unless it was the ATS belief that there's no such
thing as security and record keeping in those two military units. And 60
kgs!! Do you know that that quantity is "enough to blow up Parliament,
Rashtrapati Bhawan, South and North Blocks and still have ammunition to
spare." (Ashok Malik, an ex-Assistant Editor of The Indian Express, in The
Pioneer, November 20.) The Maharashtra ATS must be a nut to think that an
army colonel would be so stupid to steal what he didn't need.

Y.P.Singh, a retired senior police officer of Mumbai, was at a loss on TV to
explain away the Maharashtra ATS public allegations without any hard
evidence in support. He thought one reason for the ATS attitude was
"overzealousness." He did not specify the cause of that "overzealousness" or
what other reason could have prompted the ATS to be as blindfolded as it has
been found to be.

There are more such twists and turns to the ATS tales revealed so far. Its
hypothesis so far has been utterly child-like: "spit and scoot" as someone
so devastatingly put it. Apparently under some pressure to nail certain
non-Qoranic elements of our society as "terrorists", the ATS has found the
simplest possible way of leaking its "discoveries" to the media. And the
media, 24x7 and all others, have lapped up the muck without any cross
questioning. Today's media men and women, it seems, don't believe in wearing
thinking caps but only in "Breaking News".

It's a great national shame, therefore, that L.K.Advani's expression of
outrage at the facts expressed in the sadhvi's affidavit on oath has
prompted the Congress --- and the English media therefore --- to pass the
judgment that Advani and his BJP are "politicising terrorism" and "thwarting
the ATS investigations".

Indeed, the Congress is apparently happy with the unending, unsupported
allegations which the Maharashtra ATS has been levying. Why else would the
Congress proclaim that the investigations of the ATS in a state ruled by it
prove that the party is not soft on terror as alleged by the BJP ever so
often? Clearly, the Congress has just not understood the cause of Advani's
outrage at the facts in thesadhvi's affidavit. Nor, sadly, has our 24x7
media

The Prime Minister was gracious enough to heed Advani's expression of
outrage and to send the National Security Adviser to brief him on the
matter. Unfortunately, the PM himself had not apparently read the sadhvi's
affidavit! Wasn't it the same PM who had last year confessed his inability
to sleep over the plight of an alleged terrorist held in custody in far away
Australia? Do the arrested person's book of faith result in different
emotions in our PM?

Do tell us the truth of the entire ATS on Malegaon, Mr. Prime Minister? Is
it an investigation or an inquisition? Do tell us. Please.

It would be funny if it wasn't half true. It won't be far fetched if someone goes ahead and claims this while shouting into some loudspeaker at a rally, only to make it gospel. Mahesh Bhatt can take this idea and make yet another movie with a Muslim protagonist!
Are you kidding, thats the line thats being peddled as we speak. Someone posted a letter to Sonal Shah, member of Obama's transition team. That letter was signed by three NRIs including Ananga with their phone #s. Just to get a glimpse, I called the worthies, and boy were they frothing in their mouths about "Hindu terror". And when I asked why obsessive focus on "Hindu terror" when India has suffered infintly more from Islamic terror, and the answer was furious: all these terror attacks on India have been by Hindus and the 'truth' will come out.

This is truly good news!

That means there will be no more terror attacks! Terrorism has bee stopped, solved, stalled like US drones on Pakistan.

Peace has come in our times. What more can we ask for?

My be a bit OT, but is relevant to overall theme...

Looks lik AP Congress Govt found a new weapon - The SC, ST atrocities act

Now the AP Police is charge sheeting the Chiranjeevi, leader of the new political party, on this act  Looks like some SC/ST person felt insulted in one of Chiranjeevi's road shows.

Looks like the UPA/INC parties have decided to act against national interests openly.

Does this mean UPA conceded defeat in upcoming elections and is systemically destroying the reputation/legitimacy of all the institutions (law-order, media, justice, public distribution) that would be used to haunt them by the next government?

This is how Indira and Sanjay danced when Allahabad court gave the verdict. Current setup does not have either power or vision of Indira to get the nation back to normalcy. They will lose the elections no matter what they do and I believe they are trying to find reasons for not conducting the election in a free and fair manner. I am not sure what is up their sleeve.

Lt Col Purohit’s appreciation letters submitted to MCOCA court
Special Correspondent
Tuesday, November 25th, 2008 AT 4:11 PM

MUMBAI: Lt Col Prasad Purohit, who now faces the serious charge of engineering a bomb blast at Malegaon on September 29, has in fact foiled several infiltration attempts by foreign militants in Jammu and Kashmir - and have helped police in matters of intelligence gathering.

A list of his dare devil operations was submitted to the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court at Fort here, where he was produced on Monday. The bunch of documents submitted also includes letters of appreciation from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), for having conducted workshops for them. .................

Not yet.

We still have to name and identify the Hindu terrorists who have attacked Mumbai and figure out how Col Purohit and Sadhvi Pragya assisted them while in ATS custody.

Any names of terrorists yet?

Gabbar Singh?
Sadhu Mangal Singh?
Padam Pal Sharma?

In other words both the occurrence of blasts or their non occurrence can be a victory of sorts for the "sangh parivar". Except that the non occurrence of blasts will be a victory for India.

But does anyone think blasts will suddenly stop occurring?

The expressions "Islamic terrorism" and "Hindu terrorism" will not go away because they are too attractive and too convenient. The next terrorist atrocity will throw up exactly the same expressions and arguments and one side dances with glee and the other side sulks.

Imagine a scenario in which the BJP wants to "cheat" and gain electoral brownie points. Some functionary could get some Muslims to explode some bombs

And imagine that the Congress wanted to get electoral brownie points. Someone could get some Hindus to plant bombs.

This is how politics works in India. Ideally both sets of parties should be able to crack down on people who supply bomb making material and criminals who are willing to set them off. But individual members of both parties need these criminals to perform their day to day tasks - like illegal land dealings, electoral intimidation and the like. So neither the Congress nor the BJP will really crack down on the executive mechanism of the terror apparatus. Both parties will lose MLAs and MPs and vote blocs if they get serious about crime.

Must be Biharis this time...

Shiv: It will take a lot more of such attacks for the citizens to unite and vote some party that is better. Maybe it will take n number of attacks and y number of dead people before a political party emerges that will solve the problem. Or would the Hindus' backlash be before that!

If you have not read "Maximum City" by Suketu Mehta, this is the time to get a copy and read it.

I think we are still thinking of hoping to change things by voting and hoping that some political party will save us all! This means we still rely on this state machinery to deliver - when repeated and consistent failure against such massive Jihadi attacks immediately leads us to consider the possibility that many of this state machinery itself could have been infiltrated under the casual laxity and protection of Islamophile regimes, so that nothing can be done until the attack is mounted. The whole Malegaon episode followed up by Mumbai offensive shows the political paralysis and ineffectiveness of the entire state. Gandhiji once brought the idea of derecognizing a state that was harmful for Indian interests - and construct a new one. Perhaps that is the direction to take?

In a democracy what other options do we have. I am going to ask you to explain how another state can be formed in lieu of the present. Be careful, your post could get you banned in know time. So I might be just giving you a rope.

Two things for what is desirable in a state (1) a chief executive/president/head of state (and no two tier system like a supremely powerful PM and a "shikhandi" President) elected by direct vote by the people, so that it becomes extremely difficult to use social fractures to negotiate small "minority" niches - such a directly mandated person is much less amenable to group and factional blackmail and is able to intervene much more effectively. (2) a rethinking of the basis of nationhood and acknowledging roots formally in the constitution to India's pre-Islamic past (many modern perfectly democratic states retain such acknowledgments of cultural primacy of a particular root tradition in their constitution- e.g. Republic of Ireland).

What we have is neither a secular system nor an ethos/culture based system. I have no problems with a strictly secular system - a state that protects no religion at all and does not recognize claims of any religion over the state - but then it has to be perfectly clear about this, and reflect this in laws, state machinery, policy - no sponsoring of Haj or pilgrimage to holy lands - no recognition of holy sites (non-recognition not of just "Hindu" sites) if state needs it for the greater good of the nation, no recognition of separate inimmutable religious laws imposed as civil law as per sweet will of religious leaders - in fact no recognition at all by the state of any activity of any religion in arena of state-citizen relationship.

If we cannot have that kind of a "secular" system, what we have is a strange parallel existence of multiple religious states. If that is the only option left, I would go for that with which the majority culture coincides and not anything else.

So you are implying that if it was 1942, and Gandhiji was thinking of asking Indians to consider peacefully non-cooperating with a harmful regime, he would be "banned" in this forum? :)

Er.. no one has got banned for arguing Gandhian or Jesusian Peaceful Non-Cooperation, and no one is likely to. Arguing for the Anschluss or the equivalent of the Taliban, Pol Pot or Hutu Purity regime, or suggesting that the uniformed MILITARY start "non-cooperating", or appealing for foreign invasions of India, may get you banned in "know" time as the kind postor above says.
