It cuts both ways. Telangana MPs have followed Yuvraj's cue well, in letter and spirit (Refer to Yashki's letter page1 & page2). The letter dated Nov29th, clearly outlines the necessary steps to create a conducive atmosphere for a Dec 9th announcement.

It means, it is upto T-vadis to provide enough ammunition to force the hand of the core committee, so Sonia can be seen as responding to popular demand.

Motivation for the 2 MPs is easy to see, Sonia's is not so simple. Yes, we have theories (I have been proponent of "Sonia day"), but need more insider insights to confirm.
ramana wrote:Why wasn't the AP Chief Minister not consulted about the decision to bifurcate the state?
Though Rossiah initially denied any knowledge around PC's announcement, there are several indications to suggest otherwise.

-It seems like he was in Delhi on Dec 9th, where the hot topic obviously is Telangana.
-He did call the all-party meeting in AP to discuss the issue and provided positive feedback to high-command
-If my memory serves right, some reports hinted that it was he who was supposed to break the news to KCR, but was surprised (more aptly sullen) when PC went ahead with announcement. (In the aftermath however, looking at the reaction on ground, Rossiah maintained innocence in the matter and let out that high command wanted him to give lemon water to KCR, but he declined).

To add to my previous post, everybody played their part well.

(1) Rahul/Sonia : Clearly identifying what they need to make it happen
(2) T-vadis : Fulfilling requirements - Agitations, KCR's fast-onto-death (with idli sambar), exaggerating KCR's state reaching a cresendo on Dec 9th
(3) Rossaih : "Here is the all-party consensus you were looking for madam"
(4) MKN : Molding intelligence to make a good case for T-vadis
(5) PC : Uses the reports, take it to the finish line and goes public.

And AP and India pay the price.

Somehow, in all this process, Pranab seems to have been kept at safe distance. Come to think of it, where was MMS in all this?

Unfortunately, OU campus student politics is full of extreme ideologies. I remember visiting the campus one day, about 15years ago, and was taken aback by all the highly ideological banners --- including those of overt naxalite groups like Radical Students Union, PDSU and even of ABVP --- hung all over the campus, and particularly around the Arts College. I wondered for a second as to why the famous Arts College had become a hotbed for extreme politics, and I realized that students in the Arts departments typically do not have much academic pressure nor nurture any strong academic and career aspirations. Second, these students are paid stipends by the AP state govt (talk of shooting oneself in the foot), and are given free boarding and lodging. That's why all the takleef when the students were asked to vacate the hostels and the messes closed down.

Even today, it is these radical and extreme student organizations that are spearheading the campus movements and causing much unrest in the city, whose effects and fallout are being felt all over the state. One has to realize that naxals do not have to make a special effort to infiltrate the students. Naxal infiltration is a misnomer and a misunderstanding of the situation. Naxals are very much part of the student body through RSU and PDSU.

No responsible government can let itself and the peaceful citizens be browbeaten by these extreme and ideological students.

But, do note that media, either by choice or by compulsion, has left Sonia/Rahul completely out of this mess. PC and now MKN seem to be where the buck stops.

I mentioned that MP letter may or may not be authentic. Who knows if Yashki was part of the "secret Telengana leaders" that provided "wrong" info to the central Congress.

We draw conclusions/theories from imperfect information and understand method to the madness.

Student death whether it is suicide or not is at a correct timing to get students out of deadlock of exams and planned padayatra and their anger in turn can be used put pressure on Congress MLAs.

I had a precognition that some events like this (student death or police action) would be precipitated when I was watching a Telugu news discussion in one of TV channels where they were discussing exams, padayatra, resignations.

Frontline reports

http://www.frontlineonnet.com/stories/2 ... 202600.htm
THE STATES

Troubled economy

THE political unrest triggered by the Congress’ hasty announcement on the creation of a separate Telangana State is threatening to derail Andhra Pradesh’s economy.

That the State’s finances will be under severe strain became evident from the Congress government’s admission that by the end of the third quarter, revenue accruals and open market borrowings have fallen short of the targets by Rs.6,645 crore. Accruals from land transactions, registration of vehicles and commercial taxes have been so low that the State’s annual plan outlay is being scaled down.

The biggest casualty is the real estate sector, which burgeoned in the last decade thanks to the infrastructure boom in the State capital. Land prices have now fallen drastically. The Telugu film industry, reputed to be bigger than Bollywood in terms of the number of films produced, is in trouble following repeated attacks by pro-Telangana activists.

The spanking new international airport at Shamshabad near Hyderabad, which was built in a spirit of competition with the one that came up in Bangalore, the 12-km-long elevated road leading to the airport, the operation of several sea ports along the State’s 1,000-km-long coastline, and the rapid improvement of State and national highways had made Andhra Pradesh a preferred investment destination. But “Brand Andhra Pradesh”, assiduously built up by Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu during his nine-year stint as Chief Minister and cultivated by his successor Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, may lose its sheen unless political parties decide whether economic development or narrow sub-regional interests should get priority.

The image of Hyderabad as a hub of information technology, pharmaceuticals and other industries has already taken a beating. Alarm bells have started ringing in the IT and bulk drugs sectors.

With deadlines to meet and their offices forced to shut down following the agitation by pro-Telangana and unified Andhra activists, some IT companies have shifted their operations to hotel rooms. “IT companies that have signed Service Level Agreements have to specify the response time for completion of the work. They will be in trouble if they do not deliver,” said J.A. Chowdary, a long-standing spokesman of the IT industry.

In a desperate move, representatives of the IT sector in the State met Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhara Rao to convey their concerns.

The IT sector in the State provides 2.3 lakh direct jobs and eight lakh indirect jobs and accounts for an annual turnover of Rs.31,000 crore, constituting 15 per cent of the total revenue generated by the sector nationally. :!:

The Rosaiah government was embarrassed when the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) resolved to shift the prestigious Partnership Summit scheduled to be held in Hyderabad to Chennai. No amount of persuasion would make the CII reverse its decision. The government is now planning an “investment summit”. “We have lost an opportunity to sign memoranda of understanding for new ventures worth at least Rs.10,000 crore,” Y. Harishchandra Prasad, the CII’s A.P. chapter president, said.

Chandrababu Naidu told Frontline: “Most people do not have an idea of the persuasive efforts I put in to showcase Hyderabad as an investment destination in the health, biotechnology, tourism and pharmaceutical sectors. I held 30 meetings with the Prime Minister and other Central leaders to build an international airport in Hyderabad. It also took a dozen meetings to prevail upon the Centre to set up the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority here. The media have never appreciated these achievements. Look what is happening now.”

Revenue from domestic and international tourism has been affected. To make it worse, the United States State Department has issued a travel advisory about the risks involved in travelling to the State.

It is now up to the so-called "T-JAC" and the "OU-JAC" to stop their madness and prevent any further loss of life. It is the intemperate language of T-JAC that has contributed in no small measure to this tragedy. In Delhi, they agree to hold talks after peace is restored. In Hyderabad, they say they want an immediate roadmap for T-state. T-leaders make statements like "we will chop our heads", "we will sacrifice our lives" and all that happens is students giving up their lives. Clearly, the Centre has not committed itself to declaring any such timeframes. People like Kodandaram, who is unwilling to give up his own plush job in OU, put artificial deadlines as if the world is coming to an end. All this leads to a tinderbox situation, which results in poor people losing their lives.

It is sad that a reasonably genuine wish of the Telangana people is now more or less completely in the hands of extreme ideologues and naxal sympathizers. My thoughts on the rough chronology of events that has led things to come to this pass.

(1) If people remember, late 2008 and early 2009, TRS was trying to sew up an alliance with TDP after the latter's volte face on a T-state.
(2) As soon as the talk of a potential alliance is in the public domain, there was talk of secret letters being dispatched from the Naxal leaders in Charlapally jail to KCR. TRS initially denied this, but later accepted getting letters.
(3) The naxal letters to KCR decelerated the TDP-TRS alliance talks, but did not stop them completely. It was after repeated and forceful commitment of TDP to a T-state that the naxals relented and the talks proceeded.
(4) These events clearly demonstrate the Naxal influence.

Coming to current scenario:

(1) Kodandaram is/was a member of APCLU, a known pro-naxal body.
(2) In every so-called Telangana "dhoom dhaam" organized in OU, KU or other venues, Naxal cultural organizations such as Arunodaya Mandali (e.g. Vimalakka, a known Naxal aboveground sympathizer) and Jana Natya Mandali have dominated the proceedings.
(3) OU-JAC is full of PDSU members, again a known radical and pro-naxal student organization.
(4) "Kishenji", currently the most powerful naxal leader, does a telephone interview lasting longer than 2hours on ABN Andhrajyothy, telling politicians what to do.
(5) Voila, things happen as per "Kishenji" diktat.
(6) TDP MLAs visiting OU campus are roughed by people with naxal background.

That s the sycophancy/gulam nature of our media outlets (national and state).

phoren origin and gora skin makes out media moghuls not to say anything negative about dynasty. Look at scums of Indian Express, TOIlet, even India Today. These scums had no problem in attacking PVNR and even Indira Gandhi for any decision. But when it comes to phoren madams, too much slavish mentality to say anything bad.

Hanumanta Rao, both Rajya Sabha members and both, I believe, have the dubious distinction of not winning a popular election to even a panchayati board in the last two decades. When YSR was alive, he could expose their worthlessness successfully to Madamji everytime they made some noise. But, now that he is gone, their voice is the only one, until the rest of AP has also spoken. In a recent interview, Sarve Satyanarayana (Malkajgiri MP) openly revealed that the Telangana MPs have told Madam ji that TRS will merge into Congress after T-state is formed. Harish Rao, seated right next to Satyanarayana, did not even condemn that statement. Soniaji was taken for a huge ride and I think she is realizing it.
:rotfl: :rotfl:

I just pity this line of thinking. For all the mess that AP is going through between YSR padayatra of 2003 and events-of-today if anyone to be blamed it is the top most queens and kings of Congress. Educated-INC-voter-supporter is the guilty party. They started of with the loss of Volkwagon to lose-everything-that-is-possible in the state. The educated-INC-voter-supporter is like amatya Kartikeyan in Chanakya serial.

It is as if Soniaji does not know anything about AP, TRS and overall Telangana movement. It is as if she did not know the election results of 2004, extremely-special-byelections where TRS fought for Telangana and lost, and then 2009 and the latest greater hyd elections. She suddenly listens to two world renowned nalayaks from her party while Chidu just believes in some two-bit IB official(not MKN by the way) to declare the state with haste. What a spin and WOW. Everyone has to beleive now. WOW again :).

I would say "my foot" and !@#@!$#@$@#$$@ to all theories that someone gave wrong information to Chidu+Sonia. Operation-search-scapegoats-and-fall-guys in full swing using the willing media outlets.

The Students are clever. They called off the Bandh tomorrow, as they saw that nobody cared, they have already lost the support of the People. Except in OU, there was no effect of Bandh. But I personally feel that there should be calls for Bandh for continuously for 10 days, and the People will reject the Idea of Telangana once and for all.

One of the things the TJAC asked was to replace "AP" with "TG". I travel around Secunderabad and Hyderabad (decent amt. of travel). I rarely get to see TG stickers.

Also todays' is a complete failure...except for all the tamasha at OU.

I use the word "tamasha" because as per the uvvacha of Kondaram...

1. The police rejected the permission for the procession of the dead body to "Gun Park" from where it can be taken to Suryapet for cremation. This "Gun Park" location is right opposite public garden and next to assembly.

2. The Police gave an alternate location (another "Gun Park" location at Secunderabad) from where they can go to Suryapet.

3.The students refused or rather were adamant about the "gun park" location near the Assembly.

This caused the entire violence.

Here is see the students being un-reasonable which caused the lathi charge and the usuage of tear gas shells.

According to Home Minister, around 15 police men were injured in the stone throwing incident.

A more hilarious thing, a student complaining police used expired tear gas shells.

Shava Rajakeeyalu (deadbody politics). OU Students didn't handover the deadbody to police or for postmortem. Students and politicians were using the deadbody for their own politics to threaten government. Police had to attack students and take over deadbody and send the body to his nativeplace.

Cops Hijack OU Student's body

Added later: Some random student from different college outside OU died in a remote spot in OU campus and became OU student. We may never know if it was murder or suicide.

Its strategy seems to be to create enough division and let nature, some background instigations, and idiotic politicians like KCR take care of the rest to the point that Congress mata can come and provide healing touch and birthday gifts.

It is Telengana now. Next seems to be Vidarbha. North Karnataka may be after that.

BJP is ideologically pre-disposed towards greater autonomy and smaller states! Its their ideology to create efficient smaller states, where demanded, that are unable to single handedly sway the national politics as has happened for the past 3 or 4 general elections through UP and AP.

G. KISHAN REDDY

G. Kishan Reddy is the floor leader of the BJP in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly
Very eloquently put. For the first time, I saw a sane and logical argument.
Economics of small States

The case for small States can be argued with two parameters of macroeconomic statistics from the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The first parameter is the percentage increase in Gross Domestic Product for States between 1999-2000, when the smaller States were created, and 2007-2008. India’s overall GDP increased by 75 per cent during this time period. During the same period, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Uttaranchal recorded more than 100 per cent, 150 per cent and 180 per cent increase respectively. These rates were much above the rate at which national GDP increased. This clearly indicates that the recent creation of smaller States was a step in the right direction.

Experts have often argued that the creation of smaller States has been at the expense of the States they were created from. For all its lack of governance, Uttar Pradesh grew by more than 21 per cent of the national average during this time period.

The second parameter, the percentage contribution of States to national GDP, helps negate the myth of smaller States growing at the expense of the States they are created from. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh each contributed the same amount to national GDP. While the contributions of Bihar and Madhya Pradesh increased by 0.01 per cent and 0.06 per cent respectively, Uttar Pradesh’s contribution to national GDP increased by 1.2 per cent during the same time period. This is more than Chhattisgarh’s percentage increase in the contribution of 0.64 per cent to national GDP, the highest increase among the three newly created smaller States.
Some Good points.
Capital politics

Hyderabad is an integral part of Telangana and a Telangana State without Hyderabad as the capital is inconceivable. However, the militant rhetoric of some political parties has made people of other areas feel unwelcome, creating an air of mistrust among the Telugu-speaking people of various regions. This is not only constitutionally illegal but also extremely foolish as it affects the image of Brand Hyderabad. Everybody who has come to Hyderabad in search of a better quality of life must be protected. Rhetorical slogans such as Telangana waalon jaago, Andhra waalon bhago gives the impression of an exclusionist movement that forces people of the non-Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh out of Hyderabad rather than a movement where the people of Telangana want greater autonomy for their region. Significantly, when Maharashtra and Gujarat were created from the then Bombay state on the recommendation of the States Reorganisation Commission, there was fear about Mumbai losing its importance as a financial nerve-centre as a lot of investment in Mumbai had been made by Gujarati business people. The creation of two separate States did not halt Mumbai’s rapid development. In fact, it additionally paved the way for the development of Ahmedabad and Surat as alternative financial centres. Hyderabad can emulate the same model. As in the past 400 years, the city can continue to welcome people with open arms rather than close its gates to fresh talent and creative ideas.

The people of the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions feel that the benefits reaped from Hyderabad must be accessible to all those who have been equal stakeholders in the city’s development. The solution to this is not alternative models such as according Hyderabad the status of a Union Territory or making Hyderabad a joint capital for the States carved out of present-day Andhra Pradesh. These solutions are just not practical. A better approach would be to plan a special financial package for the development of a new State capital for the non-Telangana region. Pragmatism would dictate that the special package be funded through some form of cess on the city of Hyderabad for a limited period rather than running to large financial institutions for loans, as has been proposed by some political entities.
He makes an attempt to start a dialog on how can all the regions share revenues for some period. At least an attempt to resolve the issue with a positive attitude instead of spewing hatred and lies.
Social dynamics of water

About 70 per cent of the catchment area of the Krishna and close to 80 per cent of the catchment area of the Godavari is located in the Telangana region. Across the world, water distribution and sharing schemes between two areas is calculated on the basis of the percentage of the catchment area that lies in the region. Other factors that influence water-sharing accords is the population of a given region, the projected usage of water for industry and the domestic population, and the physical contours of the region through which the river flows.

Take the instance of the Godavari, where the areas planned for large dams in the Telangana have not been found feasible for various reasons. As the Sriramsagar project on the Godavari already exists, it is not feasible to build another large dam on the Godavari until after the Pranahitha tributary joins the Godavari. There is not enough water to be harnessed on a continuous basis for the project to be economically feasible if the dam is built before the Pranahitha joins the main river. The Inchampally project, a national project whose benefits are to be shared between the States of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, was one such large project that was proposed. Though the project was conceived a long time ago, it has run into typical issues that are usually associated with projects that have multiple States as stakeholders. Though Andhra Pradesh, by large, is the main beneficiary of the project, the project plan estimates more forest land being submerged in Maharashtra (47.7 per cent) than in Andhra Pradesh (29.9 per cent; all land in Telangana). An equal amount of cultivable land will be submerged in Chhattisgarh (41.8 per cent) and Andhra Pradesh (42.2 per cent; all land in Telangana). And, more villages that belong to Maharashtra (100) will be submerged as compared to Andhra Pradesh (65). This has obviously made the other States reluctant to move as quickly as Andhra Pradesh on this project.

The link canal that has been planned between Inchampally and Nagarjuna Sagar that is proposed to irrigate the regions of Telangana in between also involves prohibitive costs as a result of the 107-metre lift that is required for the water to reach the Nagarjuna Sagar. The lift itself will require a separate hydro-electric power project for the project to be feasible. Commonsense and pragmatism would have ensured that a project in Kanthamapalli or Kaleswaram be pursued. Additionally, three smaller step- dams between Yellampalli and Sriramsagar must be devised with a realistic State-level river-interlinking plan. Inchampally is not an exception, but the trend in how political leaders across the aisle in Telangana have been caught up in the big-projects-to-line-my-pockets mentality at the cost of the development of the region by looking at smaller, realistic projects to execute.
Nails the lies and propaganda of many T-vadis including Dr. Jayashankar, Prof. Kondandram and lies from blogs which are pasted here by some hate mongers.

Irrigation problem of Telangana is not a conspiracy but
1. Inter-state disputes
2. Other states not participating
3. lift up irrigation which is not feasible.
4. Greed and bribery nature of many a politician of AP including Telangana cutting party lines so they don't support small projects but money minting big projects which are not feasible.

In my mind I often come to realise the fact that BJP leadership can solve many of the issues in India and have shown clear strategy of taking India ahead. They had courage even to address the issue of Kashmir and so on. Their policy towards smaller states is very sound one though cannot be applied in every states except those places where administration becomes very impossible or imbalance development is held for many decades. Ofcourse congress too has some good leaders but unforunately they have become minorities now within the party and government.

Meanwhile,
3 more commit suicide

All universities in telangana need to come together and declare that no exams/lectures will be conducted for 12 months or atleast till a concrete time frame is declared. Let the centre send troops to telangana to maintain normalcy. Let them do it for the next 12 months.

Politicians will be politicians, force them to resign!! Like KCR said, "constitutional crisis is the way". Let them go for an election. Let them go in circles. Hit them where it hurts - there money. Chase away all the investors. Take the protest to andhra.

All this is good way to protest, but is it possible for Telangana leaders to issue notification to students not to commit suicides. Frankly, this is just sickening where the young students are committing suicide and the leaders are leveraging that for more protests. In fact, it is basically goading others to commit suicide.

For god's sake, think about their parents.

Are the students really committing suicides? I am having my own doubts. Don’t you think these things are coming at a convenient time for politicos like KCR to increase the heat?

No post- mortem was done on the body of Venugopal Reddy, the MCA student died. I read his brother's inverview wherein he said he spoke with his brother one hour before the alleged suicide and Venugopal told him that he is studying for the exams. This does not sound right. I think politicos are killing people and showing them as suicides. There to no limit to our leaders evil minds.

Police shall start a reinvestigation on each and every suicide death.

Sorry, but I have to say this.

Either you are really ignorant or you really care nothing for the welfare of Telangana people, most of whom, like everyone else, have to work every day to make a living. Investors with deep pockets will be hardly affected by this self-destructive behavior you are so eagerly espousing, they can always absorb some losses and take their money elsewhere where it is more welcome. It is the people who will suffer due to lack of business and development.

The Nizam's days when feudals fed on the toil of the people and sustained an elegant lifestyle while doing no work are over. They are not coming back. The days job == government job are also over. Wealth generation is what is needed to give the people some dignity. Randomly spreading hatred is not going to do it.

- MLAs are not resigning and are leaving JAC. Students anger directed towards them can help force their resignations.

- Some random suicides (fake or real or murder-suicide) that JAC convenor was announcing didn't have much impact. Suicide by student can add good fuel to dying fire.

- Death black-mail. Man (with fake fasting) was about to die so they announced T-formation. Now students are dying so announce T again.
As suspected, Police is investigating the death of the student. His suicide note is being sent for forensic analysis...

This is a correct way to go. Why educated people are going to die for political leaders. If so much feeling is there and so much fear is there that Telangana may not come how many political leader's kids committed suicide??? No one. Leaders who are reaposible for the present state of affairs are well off having looted public for decades and now they are killing students and showing them as suicides.
