theo-saar, why this hurry to shove halal sartiphicates on to undeserving folks like me, complete with a golden seal of shame?
These folks in the picture earlier were the Libyan street who attempted to rescue and literally carried the Ambassador over their shoulders to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
if you say so, theo-saar, if you say so. I have no opinion nor sides on the recent happenings of libya, till now and it remains so, even after this event. There is nothing till now to interest India.

All I see from footage till now is that Amby died because of an attack by a persistent libyan mob that barged into the embassy, armed or otherwise. We will hear lot of H&D stories on the various aspects of this, for years. I cant believe khan's planners were this naive in a badland

(In pindi there will be pakis on payroll, who will take goras to hospitals. And then there is the paki street. khan knows the difference and till now, khan didn't err in protecting their proconsuls and governors)

If the consulate was over run, why did they not take hostages like in Iran 1979?
That would give the terrorists more propaganda, how could there be such a big security lapse, no marines no special ops personnel ?
was there any token resistance at all
things are very murky and only as days pass by we will know the real sequence of events.

It must have been a make shift consular office in a colonial bungalow.

perimeter has been shortened now. benghazi has been abandoned by consulate staff who have fled to tripoli and a hasty response team of 40 marines flown from spain to provide security . two destroyers sent to the coast to provide additional troops and a place to evac if more "issues" arise.

1. Benghazi is also the main transit point for the flow of pigs going to fight
in Syria.
2. Was Amby's right-hand man (info manager) in charge of all those psy-op pics
against Ghaddafi to whip-up the rebels?
3. The other two consulate guys were apparently "cya staff'.
...
The situation looks murky. It may be the handiwork of much more sophisticated party.
Those henchmen just worked under the cover of ordinary abduls protesting against
the movie. unkil must have gotten a whiff of the perpetrators who may be the outsiders.
it was indeed a revenge attack of several recent high-profile events in the ME.

If you look at the recent news flow coming out of Libya, its the Islamists that are pushing their agenda with violence. These Islamists hated Gadaffi and killed him, but they also hate the US. It may be comforting for you to blame Gadaffi supporters, but the reality is that the US officials were likely murdered by their own allies during the revolution. A bit like what happened after the Soviets were kicked out of Afghanistan by the Islamists with US help.

Theo_Fidel wrote:It is very odd to see that there is still love for Gaddafi on this board. This seems to be a peculiarly Indian phenomena. Not dissimilar to the redder than Mao commies running around.
I don't detect any love for Gadaffi. I detect absence of love for the US (mainly because of the support provided to Pakistan) and a deep dislike for the Islamists. I suspect its the former that gets your goat.

The real world is not binary. There can be, actually there are more than 2 players.

First they kicked out the traitor of Islam, Gaddafi
Second, kick the satan, USA
Third, kill the kaffirs and establish pure islam???
Fourth will probably green on green action

You must be kidding. Something Awful is one of the best comedy/humor sites around, along with fark.com.

Sean Smith was not only an IT guy, he was also a devoted Eve Online gamer in his spare time, to the point that the developers were asking him for advice on how to improve the game mechanics (he made quite a few significant contributions to the Eve Online universe).

Apparently in March this year Bibi said he won't attack Iran if Obama provides guarantees that if talks fail US will deal with Iran militarily. Obama said he can't guarantee that. Then he said Israel should have the means to look after itself as well. They both also expressed private disappointment over Mubaraks departure.

Protesters angry over anti-Islam film storm US Embassy in Yemen

Published September 13, 2012 | Associated Press

SANAA, Yemen – Protesters angered by an anti-Islam film have stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Yemen's capital, Sanaa.

The protesters were on the embassy's grounds but did not enter the building housing the offices.

Before storming the embassy compound on Thursday, the demonstrators removed the embassy's sign on the outer wall and set tires ablaze. Once inside the compound, they brought down the U.S. flag and burned it.

Yemen is home to Al Qaeda's most active branch and the United States is the main foreign supporter of the Yemeni government's counterterrorism campaign. The government on Tuesday announced that Al Qaeda's No. 2 leader in Yemen was killed in an apparent U.S. airstrike, a major blow to the terror network.
Gunfire, then a missing ambassador -- officials describe chaotic scene at Benghazi post

By Judson BergerPublished September 13, 2012FoxNews.com

The attack started with little warning. The U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi began taking fire at 10 p.m. Tuesday night. Within minutes, the attackers were in -- firing inside the building.

It would be hours before U.S. personnel regained control. And hours before U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens' body was recovered.

These details and others emerged late Wednesday, as U.S. officials sought to reconstruct what happened in those chaotic and violent hours in eastern Libya the night before.

The attack on the U.S. Consulate left four dead, including Stevens, and three wounded. Questions have swirled over what instigated the attack, with a number of lawmakers and others speculating that it might have been a coordinated strike timed for the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Speculation is also widespread over Stevens' exact cause of death.

Senior administration officials, in a briefing late Wednesday, could not answer those two questions. But they sought to explain how the attackers mounted such a deadly assault on the compound, and in doing so acknowledged that U.S. personnel effectively lost track of Stevens after the initial attack.

Though details could change and State Department employees are still piecing together what happened, officials described the chain of events on Tuesday night as follows:

At 10 p.m. local time (4 p.m. ET, in Washington), the compound "began taking fire from unidentified Libyan extremists." That compound consists of a main building, as well as several "ancillary" buildings and an annex.

Just fifteen minutes later, the attackers busted their way inside the compound and began firing into the main building, setting it on fire. At the time, there were three people inside -- Stevens, department official Sean Smith and a regional security officer. After the attackers gained entry, those three became separated in the heavy smoke and fire.

The security officer made it outside, only to return in search of Smith and Stevens. They found Smith. He was already dead. However, they could not find Stevens, and had to leave the building because of the heavy smoke and "small-arms fire," officials said.

At about 10:45 p.m. local time, U.S. security personnel tried to regain the main building but could not and returned to the annex. Thirty-five minutes later, they tried again with the help of Libyan forces. This time, they held it down, for long enough to evacuate everyone to the annex.

However, at midnight, the annex too came under fire. The attack lasted for two hours, during which time two more Americans were killed.

At around 2 a.m. local time, Libyan security forces assisted the Americans in "regaining control of the situation."

In piecing together these details, U.S. officials are still trying to figure out what exactly happened to Stevens.

"At some point in all of this, and frankly we do not know when, we believe that Ambassador Stevens got out of the building and was taken to a hospital in Benghazi," a senior administration official said. "We do not have any information what his condition was at that time."

U.S. personnel did not see his body again until it was returned to the Benghazi airport around dawn. The official said the administration cannot say what the cause of death was -- reports have ranged from smoke inhalation to an attack on his car -- until an autopsy.

As for the rest of the U.S. Consulate staff, they were all evacuated back to Tripoli over the course of a couple cargo flights from Benghazi on Wednesday. The flights included the three wounded personnel and the remains of the four Americans. The staff is now in the process of being flown to Germany, where those who are wounded will be treated and others will be on "standby" while the security situation is assessed.

One official said the embassy in Tripoli, while still operating, has been reduced to "emergency staffing levels." All diplomatic posts around the world have been ordered to review their security situation and make improvements where necessary.

Fox News' Justin Fishel contributed to this report.

I say the solution to the problem is burn YouTube down. Na rahega baas na bajegi bansuri

US officials say 2 warships moving towards Libya
One destroyer, the USS Lasoon :rotfl: , moved to a position off the coast Wednesday, and the USS McFail  is en route and should be stationed off the coast within days. The officials said the ships, which carry Tomahawk cruise missiles, do not have a specific mission. But they give commanders flexibility to respond to any mission ordered by the president.
What next McChicken with Pyaaz?

Google refuses to remove YouTube clip mocking the Islamic Prophet Muhammad
The clip, based on a longer film, depicts the prophet as a fraud and philanderer and has been blamed for sparking violence at US embassies in Cairo and Benghazi. The US Ambassador to Libya, J Christopher Stevens, and three other American diplomats were killed in an attack on the US embassy in Benghazi on Tuesday.

"This video - which is widely available on the Web - is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube," Google said in a statement. "However, given the very difficult situation in Libya and Egypt, we have temporarily restricted access in both countries. Our hearts are with the families of the people murdered in yesterday's attack in Libya."

The 14-minute clip is a trailer for a film called the "Innocence of Muslims," produced by a man who described himself as a California-based Israeli Jew named Sam Bacile.

Allah did not want Google to remove the movie. Let us fulfill his wishes by watching it in its entirety

The Lebanon report on the murdered U.S. ambassador in Libya, Christopher Stevens, remains unconfirmed by the AFP.

According to the Lebanese news organization Tayyar.org, citing AFP news sources, U.S. ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens, who was killed by gunmen that stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on Tuesday, was reportedly raped before being murdered. A google translation of the report says :

A news report made by the Libyan Free Press is also reporting that Ambassador Stevens was sodomized before he was killed:

"Libya - USA Ambassador in Bengazi sodomized and killed by his own al-Qaeda puppets."

Inside the public relations disaster at the Cairo embassy

Posted By Josh Rogin Wednesday, September 12, 2012 - 8:48 PM

One staffer at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was responsible for the statement and tweets Tuesday that have become grist for the presidential campaign, and that staffer ignored explicit State Department instructions not to issue the statement, one U.S. official close to the issue told The Cable.

Two additional administration officials confirmed the details of this account when contacted late Wednesday by The Cable.

The statement, issued as a press release on the U.S. Embassy website, has been attacked by Republican challenger Mitt Romney, lawmakers, and conservatives around the country as an inappropriate "apology" and a failure to stand up for American principles such as freedom of speech.

The White House distanced itself from the statement Tuesday, and Romney criticized it directly in his initial reaction to the attacks in Egypt and Libya shortly thereafter, accusing President Barack Obama of evicing sympathy for the attackers.

On Wednesday, Romney doubled down on that criticism, saying, "I think it's a terrible course for America to apologize for our values."

President Obama commented on the controversy in an interview to be aired Wednesday evening on 60 Minutes.

"In an effort to cool the situation down, it didn't come from me, it didn't come from Secretary Clinton. It came from people on the ground who are potentially in danger," Obama said. "And my tendency is to cut folks a little bit of slack when they're in that circumstance, rather than try to question their judgment from the comfort of a campaign office."

But Obama's remarks belie the enormous frustration of top officials at the State Department and White House with the actions of the man behind the statement, Cairo senior public affairs officer Larry Schwartz, who wrote the release and oversees the embassy's Twitter feed, according to a detailed account of the Tuesday's events.

The official noted that the statement was posted at exactly 12:18 p.m. Cairo time -- 6:18 a.m. Washington time -- well before the protests began. Romney has said, wrongly, that the statement was the administration's first response to the protests, but the official said that the demonstrations did not begin until 4 p.m. Cairo time and protesters breached the wall about 2 hours later.

After the breach, as public criticism of the statement grew, the Cairo Embassy Twitter account continued to send out tweets defending it, some of which were later deleted. One deleted tweet, originally posted at 12:30 a.m. Cairo time, said, "This morning's condemnation (issued before protests began) still stands. As does condemnation of unjustified breach of the Embassy."

Before issuing the press release, Schwartz cleared it with just one person senior to himself, Deputy Chief of Mission Marc Sievers, who was the charge d'affaires at the embassy on Tuesday because Ambassador Anne Patterson was in Washington at the time, the official said.

Schwartz sent the statement to the State Department in Washington before publishing and the State Department directed him not to post it without changes, but Schwartz posted it anyway.

"The statement was not cleared with anyone in Washington. It was sent as ‘This is what we are putting out,'" the official said. "We replied and said this was not a good statement and that it needed major revisions. The next email we received from Embassy Cairo was ‘We just put this out.'"

A heated discussion ensued among State Department and White House officials over e-mail as the controversy over the statement grew Tuesday evening, even grabbing the attention of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Meanwhile, those same officials were dealing with a more serious attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the death of four American officials, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

"People at the highest levels both at the State Department and at the White House were not happy with the way the statement went down. There was a lot of anger both about the process and the content," the official said. "Frankly, people here did not understand it. The statement was just tone deaf. It didn't provide adequate balance. We thought the references to the 9/11 attacks were inappropriate, and we strongly advised against the kind of language that talked about ‘continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.'"

Despite being aware of Washington's objections, the embassy continued to defend the statement for several hours, fueling the controversy over it, a decision the official again attributed to Schwartz.

"Not only did they push out the statement but they continued to engage on Twitter and retweet it," the official said. "[Schwartz] would have been the one directing folks to engage on Twitter on this."

At approximately 10:30 p.m. Washington time, Clinton issued a statement on both the Libya and Egypt attacks that included a reference to religious tolerance as well as an emphasis on the administration's condemnation of the embassy attack.

"The United States deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others," she said. "Our commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear: There is never any justification for violent acts of this kind."

Despite his disregard of Washington's instructions and his actions throughout the day Tuesday, Schwartz has not yet been disciplined in any way and is still the lead public affairs officer at the embassy.

"He remains at post at the same capacity as he was," the official said.

The State Department declined to comment and a request sent to the U.S. Embassy in Cairo for comment was not immediately returned.

A witty, sarcastic article In Asia Times by Pepe Escobar on the Libyan incident:

Mr Blowback rising in Benghazi
"Daddy, what is blowback?"
Here's a fable to tell our children, by the fire, in a not so-distant post-apocalyptic, dystopian future.
Once upon a time, during George "Dubya" Bush's "war on terra", the Forces of Good in Afghanistan captured - and duly tortured - one evil terrorist, Abu Yahya al-Libi.

Abu Yahya al-Libi was, of course, Libyan. He slaved three years in the bowels of Bagram prison near Kabul, but somehow managed to escape that supposedly impregnable fortress in July 2005.

At the time, the Forces of Good were merrily in bed with Colonel Muammar Gaddafi in Libya - whose intelligence services, to the delight of the Bush administration, were doing their nastiest to exterminate or at least isolate al-Qaeda-style Salafi-jihadis of the al-Libi kind.

But, then, in 2011, the Forces of Good, under new administration, decided it was time to bury the oh so passe "war on terra" and dance to a new, more popular groove; humanitarian intervention, also characterized as "kinetic military action".

So al-Libi was back from the dead - now fighting side by side with the Forces of Good to topple (and eventually snuff out) "evil" Col Gaddafi. Al-Libi had become a "freedom fighter" - even though he was openly calling for Libya to become an Islamic Emirate.
Blowback - as in Afghanistan - might have taken years. This time Mr Blowback reared its ugly head in only a few months. And that's just the beginning.
So what now? Who're you gonna bomb? Who're you gonna drone to death? What about bombing Benghazi a year after condemning Gaddafi to death because he might have threatened to ... bomb Benghazi?

Ask US Secretary of State Hillary "We came, he saw, he died" Clinton, who claims to talk on behalf of the "Libyan people". Maybe she will come up with a policy of retroactively aligning the US with Gaddafi.

And since this is an electoral year, why not ask invisible former president Bush himself? After all, he proclaimed on September 20, 2001 that "either you are with us, or you are with the terra-rists."
Well, Mr Blowback would say, beware of what you get when you are in bed with the terra-rists.

Nightwatch comments on North Africa

Egypt-US: The day after the storming of the US Embassy, all day and night on 12 and 13 September, mainstream media aired footage of obviously unemployed Egyptian young men gathering and milling near the US Embassy in Cairo. A single security vehicle was imaged making an occasional and completely feckless foray through the gathering area, during the early morning of 13 September in Cairo. No Egyptian police or military or other security personnel were present.

Comment: The normal time for organized, violent Muslim protests is Friday afternoon, after prayers. Muslim Brotherhood leaders already have called for "non-violent", anti-US protests on Friday after prayers. Readers should expect more anti-US protests and no Egyptian security forces.

The unemployed and the underemployed in Cairo are amusing themselves by protesting in the name of Islam over just about anything they think is offensive. Much larger and dangerous protests are likely after the miscreants are infused with Islamic fervor after Friday prayers.

Had the Mursi government begun to deliver on its promises of more jobs, theoretically, the unemployed and under-employed youth would have been asleep in anticipation of going to work. The unemployment rate for men under 35 is about 50%.

{In US the people have sports to keep them occupied while the leaders fiddle and engage in mock blame game. Its preposterous to suggest that fledgling govt in Egypt should have created jobs when the might US economy despite massive infusion of capital has falied to do so!}

It is a negative commentary about the job creation accomplishments of the Mursi government to date that so many men have nothing to do in Cairo but vent their frustrations. In Egypt there is no penalty for destroying a foreign embassy, but criticism of President Mursi is a criminal offence. That explains why Egyptian men would judge they could attack the US embassy, when their real target should have been the Mursi government.

The protestors said, in paraphrase, that they understand the US has freedom of speech; the US needs to understand that they have freedom of action. Theirs is a claim to justify lawlessness granted by the Mursi government as long as the violence is not turned against Mursi.

What is important is that the Mursi government has not denounced the violence. The US and the US president are vowing to bring justice to the killers in Libya, but the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood government has made no comment or apology. Instead, Mursi's reaction is to urge the US to punish the US filmmaker.

Comment: There is only a trailer of the film, no film yet, Mursi has not seen it nor have most of the protestors in Egypt and Libya. The riots are flash mobs, arranged and manipulated by others.

NightWatch Special Comment: Ambassador Anne Patterson's April Glaspie moment.

Ambassador Anne Patterson, the US Ambassador to Egypt, experienced her 'April Glaspie' moment yesterday when she blamed Americans instead of Egyptians for attacking, storming and desecrating the US Embassy in Cairo and the US Flag.

Old hands will remember, April Glaspie, who was a rising star in the State Department's constellation of diplomats. Her notorious conversation with Saddam Hussein in early 1990 led Saddam to believe that the US encouraged and condoned an Iraqi invasion of Kuwait.

Having worked closely with US officials for a decade in the struggle and war against Iran, Saddam understood that everything after the Glaspie talk was plausible deniability by US President Bush, 41.

Glaspie misunderstood and misjudged the Iraqi leadership and the situation in Iraq. Patterson's operations at the US Embassy in Cairo bespeak a comparable misjudgment of the Egyptian Arab situation, its volatility and the depth of anti-American sentiment.

She did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to USMC blogs. Thus she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.

In this respect, she did not defend US sovereign territory and betrayed her oath of office. She neutered the Marines posted to defend the embassy, trusting the Egyptians over the Marines.

She apparently judges that Egyptian President Mursi spearheads a democracy and a new civil order, despite the mounting evidence that Mursi disregards US interests, cavorts with US enemies, is a budding authoritarian ruler who disdains parliament and does not honor the basic obligations of diplomatic agreements and the Geneva conventions.

Readers, by definition, whenever an embassy of any country is overrun by locals in any country, everyone knows that the ambassador and senior staff must be replaced.

Timing
Readers also should remember that by definition the time for an official government protest for an attack on a US embassy is always when rioters attack or deface the embassy compound itself, long before they violate or penetrate the US sovereign territory or deface the US Flag. Not nine hours later and not when the details become clear. Then it is too late to take action to keep an embassy from burning or to protect American diplomats. The objective is safety, more than knowledge.

When foreign TV videos showed rioters on the walls of the US Embassy and tearing apart the US Flag on the early evening of 11 September, the time for a strong US official protest and angry telephone calls to Mursi had already passed.

Every student of international affairs and international diplomacy knows this. Every experienced foreign policy staff and every competent journalist knows this. But not this State Department and not this US administration and not mainstream US news services. The US simply failed to defend itself.

It bears repeating: apologies never mollify criminals. Only law abiding citizens believe such baloney. Criminals consider apologies to be acts of submission, especially in foreign cultures.

The NightWatch Chronology

When NightWatch wrote last night, every news channel carried video footage of the violation of the US Embassy; the destruction of the Embassy's US flag; the raising of the Islamic flag - not the al Qaida flag, mind you - and the burning of the US flag.

AFTER those events, the news services carried Ambassador Patterson's denunciation of Americans at fault. Ambassador Patterson at no time denounced in public the Islamists who violated her Embassy.

When the NightWatch ended, details about the Benghazi atrocity had not yet been reported by any major news services.

Subsequently, Twitter and Facebook postings by the Cairo embassy, after the Libyan catastrophe was reported in the press, insisted that the Americans were wrong for hurting the feelings of the Muslims, despite the loss of life in Benghazi. Patterson's embassy astonishingly continued to try to minimize the loss of American life and to justify the acts of the Egyptian and Libyan crazies by blaming Americans.

In an earlier era, less politically correct, old time professionals would have called this clientisis - falling in love with one's client. It is similar to Stockholm syndrome and is an occupational hazard of US diplomats. The US Embassy staff in Cairo has it, based on public, twitter and facebook postings.

The bottom line is that some deferential, weak US diplomats have done more to encourage anti-American outbursts and to promote the perception of US weakness and subservience to Muslims than US citizens exercising free speech. They need to be vetted and replaced because they do not speak for us.

Final note, in most less-developed countries of the world, from Morocco to Indonesia, no one believes the press is free of government control. There is no free press in any of those countries. Thus their leaders, analysts and others disbelieve the US press is free of government control. They mirror-image their own conditions and project them onto the US.

NightWatch has talked with senior foreign officials who simply refuse to believe the American press is free of US government control and manipulation. US official apologies for the actions of private citizens reinforce this astonishing misperception, around the world.

Libya: Multiple sources have reported more details on the events that led to the death of Ambassador Stephens. The details suggest this was another case of well-intentioned but misguided hubris by Americans, as to their own safety, and well-aimed and well- targeted attacks by the Muslim attackers. This appears, in fact, to have been a deliberate assassination of an effective diplomat, within the cover of an anti-US demonstration in Benghazi.

The reporting indicates that the number of fundamental US security and intelligence lapses, blunders and examples of ineptitude make the efforts of Libyan security and of a local, loyal militia force to protect the US Consulate look heroic by comparison.

Comment: The State Department admitted that the Ambassador and an information management officer - an ex-US Air Force veteran - were killed. Foreign media reported two US Marines also were killed.

The website for gateway pundit carries video images of US Ambassador Stevens' body being dragged through the streets of Benghazi by his Muslims miscreant murderers. All mainstream US media failed to report that the Muslim miscreants not only killed the US ambassador, they defiled his body.

Note to analysts: It is important for intelligence analysts to never forget that the fundamental purpose of US intelligence, as stated in the legislative history of the US National Security Act of 1947, is to keep the US, its persons, property and its interests safe. Yesterday, US intelligence apparently did none of them.
I think this incidents will have serious election impact in US in November.

TV and Internet are spreading the information beyond govt control.

The Benghazi consulate was actually an "interim building" while they were building the real one elsewhere.
Marine Corps spokeswoman Capt. Kendra Motz said that Marines were not posted to the consulate, unlike the embassy in the capital, Tripoli.
....
The Benghazi consulate had “lock-and-key” security, not the same level of defenses as a formal embassy, an intelligence source told POLITICO. That means it had no bulletproof glass, reinforced doors or other features common to embassies. The intelligence source contrasted it with the American embassy in Cairo, Egypt – “a permanent facility, which is a lot easier to defend.” The Cairo embassy also was attacked Tuesday.

The guy who wrote that was a former member. He got banned soon after. On the other hand, do you know how many internet memes were popularized by Something Awful? All your base are belong to us is one example. My last post on this matter as it has nothing to do with the topic of this thread.

It looks to me that America is creating another Pakistan.. and they are using an expert: Anne Patterson (formerly Ambassador to Pakistan).

Some Wikileaks on her :-
Some stars shine through the banality such as the heroic envoy in Islamabad, Anne Patterson. She pleads that Washington's whole policy{use of drones} is counterproductive: it "risks destabilising the Pakistani state, alienating both the civilian government and the military leadership, and provoking a broader governance crisis without finally achieving the goal". Nor is any amount of money going to bribe the Taliban to our side. Patterson's cables are like missives from the Titanic as it already heads for the bottom.
"you can't kill your way out of this{Af-Pak trouble}. That's not the option. There might be other alternatives -- reconciliation process, offering job opportunities, I don't know. But it's not just by force."
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree ... -wikileaks

She was appointed US Ambassador to Pakistan on July 31, 2007 and Musharraf is kicked out by 2008. She was appointed Ambassador to Egypt after Mubarak was kicked out..

I guess she is a "transition to Pakistan" expert.

That defence is a far cry to say that forum as "on of the best comedy/humor sites around"

The Wiki page of that site tells you of some violent activities either committed by the members or those resulting out of their actions.
At least one precedent of involvment of that community (holding just him accountable for the entire game development and the popularity of it is lame in my view) in a similar hate campaign as one purported (the video) to be the cause of recent violence.

Ramana garu, my initial, limited and deliberately ambiguous comment was relevent to say that there may be potential linkage between the violence in libya, the muslim hate material and possible source of that. I could well be wrong but to keep the folks on look out and keep their antennas ON for reception.

Time is reporting on the Nightwatch article that RamanaJi posted above :-
What’s Worse: No Marines, or (Possibly) Unarmed Marines?

By MARK THOMPSON

Senior U.S. officials decline to discuss it, but it’s clear there were no U.S. Marines protecting U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and his beleaguered staff at the Benghazi consulate Tuesday night. Marines are routinely posted to U.S. diplomatic outposts around the world, but the “interim” facility in Benghazi apparently was defended only by a handful of U.S. security officers and local hires. The Marines have let it be known that the two unidentified U.S. officials who died at Benghazi were not Marines.

As any Marine’ll tell you, if there had been Marines at Benghazi, they’d be among those killed.

But what’s worse? No Marines or unarmed Marines?

There’s a disquieting report in Thursday morning’s NightWatch blog that claims the Marines 700 miles away in Cairo were barred from carrying live ammunition as the U.S. Embassy in Egypt came under attack:

[U.S. Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson] did not permit US Marine guards to carry live ammunition, according to USMC blogs. Thus she neutralized any US military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy. In this respect, she did not defend US sovereign territory and betrayed her oath of office. She neutered the Marines posted to defend the embassy, trusting the Egyptians over the Marines.
…reports John McCreary, a former veteran Defense Intelligence Agency analyst. Well, Battleland can’t find those blogs; we’ve asked McCreary for them, and also asked the Marines and State Department to respond to what he is reporting.

Senior U.S. officials late Wednesday declined to discuss in detail the security at either Cairo or Benghazi, so answers may be slow in coming.
