Way to go, Mr Home Minister: Sushilkumar Shinde extends his stay in the US; red terror be damned.

Shinde was among the prominent absentees in Raipur on Sunday, too, where his seniors, prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and vice president Rahul Gandhi had gathered to pay respect to the deceased.

Sushilkumar Shinde At least 27 people were killed and over 30 injured in Saturday’s Maoist attack on a Congress convoy in Chhattisgarh but home minister Sushilkumar Shinde is busy spending time in the US even after his official work is over.

As a result he will not be there on Tuesday to take stock of the situation. Instead, Union home secretary RK Singh will visit the state, along with the Intelligence Bureau director, to have a frank discussion with the state’s executive about possible lapses that led to the grievous loss of lives.

Shinde was among the prominent absentees in Raipur on Sunday, too, where his seniors, prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, and vice president Rahul Gandhi had gathered to pay respect to the deceased and meet the injured and instil courage among the shaken partymen.

Shinde, who was expected to return on May 25 after attending the Indo-US homeland security dialogue from May 20 to 22, extended his stay in the US by four days. His travel plan remains unchanged even after the tragic incident.

Jolted by the Maoist attack, the Centre on Monday asked all Maoist-hit states to revamp security of political workers and appoint nodal officers to coordinate political programmes to prevent such deadly attacks.

In an advisory to Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh, the home ministry said: “...there is a continuing possibility of more attacks on political personalities and programmes. There is an urgent need to factor this into the security architecture of all the states concerned.”

Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Madhya Pradesh go to polls in October-November and the Lok Sabha elections will be held by May 2014.

“It is advised that a nodal officer be appointed at the police headquarters to coordinate programmes of all political parties. He should also coordinate with field formations on security related matters including security arrangement for rallies, protection along route, and enhanced security for persons with high threat perceptions.”

The home ministry told the states that in political programmes, SPs should issue written orders on all aspects of security plan, conduct rehearsals, and DIGs and IGs of respective ranges should act similarly when programmes cut across districts.

The Centre has decided to finetune the security presence in Chhattisgarh by pushing in more central armed police forces to fill in critical gaps in places like Sukma, Narayanpur, Kanker, and Dantewada.

After ex-president Prathiba Patil, Shinde seems to be the new "Emperor Nero" of India :P. Making full utilisation of the privileges given to a senior minister and going around the globe.

Sachin ji, Shinde is just a paper stamp. Infact that is why he has been designated as the home minister by Congress.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is travelling abroad on the orders of Madam herself.

How come incompetent, yet affable persons are placed in the chair of HM, when we need exactly the opposite? Very peculiar. Any explanations from the gurus?

Sir, look no further than Karnataka where the CM today mentions that a certain George has been made HM to restore the confidence of the minorities which communal BJP govt terrorized over last 5 years of their rule.

George was made HM to restore confidence of minorities:Siddu
Accusing the BJP of having spread communal tension during it’s five-year tenure, Siddaramaiah said his senior colleague K J George was given the Home portfolio mainly to restore confidence among the minorities.

"The five-year regime of the BJP resulted in the minorities across the State living in fear. In order to restore their confidence, I insisted that a minority leader be made the Home minister," said Siddaramaiah.
Such is the seriousness INC attaches to roles like home minister. No wonder it repeats at center also

Why didn't this Siddaramaiah idiot offer his own chair to a Christian to restore their confidence even better? Hindus must have gone bonkers to have voted this anti-Hindu garbage to power.

Siddaramaiah's first move: Lifts ban on cow slaughter.

Siddaramaiah, who took over as the 22nd chief minister of Karnataka [ Images ] on Monday, is all set to face a stormy legislative assembly session. Among the several decisions that he took after being sworn-in was to reverse the previous Bharatiya Janata Party [ Images ] government’s decision banning cow slaughter in the state.

The BJP had decided to implement a ban on cow slaughter in Karnataka when it came to power in 2008 and had passed the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation Bill.

This meant that there was a blanket ban on cow slaughter across the state. The same was passed in the legislative assembly. However, Siddaramaiah made it clear that the bill would be withdrawn.

This would now lead to a debate on the floor of the House and the BJP, with 40 legislators, has decided to oppose this move.

BJP leader Suresh Kumar, a former law minister, said, “Let it come to the assembly. We will debate it. We had taken the decision to prevent the in-discriminatory slaughter of cattle.”

When the BJP had introduced the amendment bill, the Congress had petitioned the governor and Siddararmaiah had vehemently opposed the same on the floor of the House. He had said that it affects beef-eaters and also those persons who are into transportation of cattle.

It also has an impact on those in the leather industry and the meat packaging industry, he had pointed out.

The BJP, however, decided to go ahead with the amendment bill. As per the amendment bill, slaughtering of cows, calf of a cow and bull, bullock, buffalo male or female and calf of she-buffalo is prohibited. However, if permission is obtained from a competent authority, animals above the age of 15 could be slaughtered.

The original act which was passed in 1964 stated that cows, calves or she-buffaloes cannot be slaughtered. However, it allowed the slaughter of bulls, bullocks and buffaloes provided they were 12 years of age or above and also unfit for breeding, did not give milk or victims of drought.

The bill has been contentious in Karnataka and the movement to ban cow slaughter was strongest in Mangalore. There were protests -- and at times violence -- over this issue and the BJP government had decided to ban cow slaughter despite reservation from the Muslims.

in the Indira days, whatever be the degree of family raj , psycophancy, "putting minorities in charge to restore confidence" in the zail/buta singh mould, there were men of competence and ability in general for the key positions - men like k c pant, pranabda ....

ever since the shivraj patil era in UPA1, the INC has been plumbing new depths each passing year in appointing men and women of weaker and weaker caliber to key positions...the era of rubber stamp figureheads controlled by the rajmata has crossed ALL LIMITS.

I hereby state SHIP is OUT OF CONTROL.

Wouldn't normally recommend shekhar gupta's bilge but the occasional rare gem of sanity does coem forth every once in a blue moon...

The bleeding heartless
For a full nine years, the leadership of the Congress bought this unquestioningly. It allowed, even welcomed, the embedding of the Maoist middle ground and sympathisers within its establishment, notably the NAC and the Planning Commission. Remember that one of those eight Maoists released in exchange for the abducted Malkangiri collector Vineel Krishna was A. Padma, wife of top Maoist Akkiraju Haragopal alias Ramakrishna. And she managed Aman Vedika, an orphanage run by activist and then NAC member Harsh Mander ('At NAC member's NGO, they wait for Padma, wife of top Maoist', IE, February 24, 2011, goo.gl/cK0ja).

Many of us — including this paper — sympathised with Dr Binayak Sen for being charged and convicted under the obviously archaic sedition law. He is also a very likeable, soft-spoken, sincere paediatrician. But must you appoint him in a key Planning Commission committee (steering committee on health, drafting their 12th Five Year Plan)? Gentle, children's doctor, yes. But he is a convicted Maoist sympathiser. Bringing him inside the tent like this, what message are you sending out to the security forces, to the police and intelligence agencies and people of India? Or, to twist the knife, and twist a popular Hindi heartland slogan as well, sainiko tum sangharsh karo, hamein pata nahin hum kiske saath hain (fight on soldiers, just that we are not sure whose side we are on). And finally, what message are you sending out to the Maoists?
Your heads and hearts should burn with fury every time an armed forces chief says he won't send his forces to fight the Maoists, because his troops can't be seen fighting their own countrymen. Own countrymen, did you say? Then who are the Kashmiris whom you've been fighting with pride, and to subdue whom you have built the largest and most powerful military command in India's history? So large that the Northern Army Commander has more than 50 two- and three-star generals reporting to him. So you think Kashmiris are not your countrymen as much as the heartland Indians are. Isn't that exactly what the Kashmiri separatists are saying? Or what about the Nagas, the Manipuris and other tribal insurrectionists of the Northeast, to fight whom, sort of permanently, you have set up an entire counter-insurgency corps in Dimapur? Do you think they aren't Indians as much as the tribals of Dandakaranya? If so, isn't that exactly what the northeastern separatists are saying? The fact is, the leadership of the armed forces has merely jaywalked into the policy vacuum left by the UPA. At one point, it had got so frustrating that this newspaper even carried a half-serious editorial asking why the admiral ('Soldierly silence', IE, April 12, 2010) was letting his navy down by also not coming out to say that under no circumstances would he allow his warships and submarines to be used against the Maoists.
Oh, read it all, I say. Worthwhile, for a change.

Christianity today-Politician Who Saw God's Hand in Gujarat Quake Forced to Resign
posted 2/1/2001 12:00AM -Flashback from the past.
A member of the government of the state of Karnataka, in southern India, has been forced to resign after claiming that the earthquake which killed tens of thousands of people in the western Indian state of Gujarat last week was God's punishment for atrocities against Christians.

T. John, a civil aviation minister in Karnataka's state government and a member of the Orthodox church, has handed in his resignation after widespread criticism and protests by Hindus angry at his interpretation.

The 69-year-old politician had described the Gujarat earthquake, the worst to hit India in 50 years, as "the punishment of God to the people for ill-treating Christians and minorities in the state."

He issued his controversial statement at an inter-religious meeting of the Good News Global Peace group in Bangalore, capital of Karnataka, on January 30, four days after the earthquake

However John's comments reflect the views of some Indian Christians who have said in private that they can see the work of the invisible hand of God in the earthquake. They have pointed out that church institutions and buildings suffered comparatively little damage in the earthquake. In particular, Christians drew attention to the fact that 320 blind and disabled inmates of a church residential center at Raidhanpar, near the epicenter of the earthquake, escaped unhurt. The residents were in the open grounds of the center, for the raising of the flag for Republic Day, when the earthquake took place.
Hope this George is different from John and the unnamed christists of the report.

Cops probe Madani link in BJP office blast
The radical Islamic leader from Kerala, Abdul Nasser Madani of the People's Democratic Party, is once again under the scanner in a bomb blast conspiracy case with the Bangalore police looking closely at possible contacts between him and some of the accused in the April 17 blast outside the BJP headquarters here. The blast had left 16 people injured.

Lawyers of a few arrested accused said the police were probing about an alleged meeting between Madani and Kichan Bukhari, linked to the banned Tamil Nadu terror outfit Al Ummah, on March 9 at the Bangalore airport while Madani was on parole and in transit to attend his daughter's wedding. The police sources have confirmed this. "There was a phone call received at the airport at that time which is of interest in the case,'' they said.

The police have named 20 persons as accused, including Bukhari and three absconders Fakruddin, Bilal Malik and Panna Ismail. All of them are former members of the Al Ummah who figured in the February 1998 Coimbatore blasts case. Bukhari was released after his sentence couple of years ago.

According to Bukhari's lawyers, during questioning in the recent blast case, the police have accused him of meeting Madani at the Bangalore airport as part of the conspiracy. "Madani was on a parole and was travelling under police escort. There was no way anybody could meet him. Bukhari was on a flight to Delhi that travelled via Bangalore, so he could not have alighted at the stopover,'' his lawyer said.

The police are also investigating the source of Rs 50,000, allegedly given by Bukhari to Panna Ismail.

PAST CASES

Madani, who like Bukhari was also accused in the 1998 Coimbatore blasts case, was exonerated in 2007, after spending nine years in prison. Madani is among 31 chargesheeted in the July 25, 2008 bomb blasts in Bangalore that killed one person and left 20 injured. He recently wrote a letter to President Pranab Mukherjee asking for a speedy trial in the 2008 blasts case, saying he had been wrongly implicated.

What happens to Shri. Mahdani-ji now needs to be watched closely. Kerala politicians are now bringing in more and more pressure on the Karnataka Govt. Now that a "secular" govt. has been brought in, they are expecting this fellow to be realised. Two days back one chap from the Panakkad clan (to home Muslim League in Kerala pays obescience) was at Mahdani-ji's home at Parappana Agrahara. This gang also had met Karnataka ministers. I feel Karnataka Police would be now under immense pressure to get the case moving. Worst would be if NIA pokes its nose in this case as well. If Mahdan-jii and this Kitchen Buhari-ji are pals, then it would be more fun for Mahdani-ji.

Chhattisgarh attack: Did insider tip off Naxals?
Sources in the Intelligence Bureau and the National Investigation Agency claim that the Naxals had precise information about the movement of the Congress convoy which came under attack on May 25, reports Vicky Nanjappa

The precision with which the attack on the Congress convoy took place on May 25 at Darbhaghati in the dense forests of Bastar in Chhattigarh has led investigators to believe that there was an insider who provided vital information to Naxals.

Even though the home ministry has denied the involvement of any Congressman in the massacre, which left 28 including senior party leaders, dead, the National Investigation Agency continues to probe this angle.

If i am correct Prakash Ambedkar is anti-Pawar. So he is hitting where it hurts most.
Did Rajeev Shukla meet Dawood Ibrahim when he was in Pakistan?

Mumbai: Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh chief Prakash Ambedkar on Monday alleged that Union minister Rajeev Shukla had met India's 'Enemy Number One' in Pakistan on April 5, 2004, and discussed :?:  important security issues with him.

Ambedkar produced a two-page document, which he claims was an internal report of the external affairs ministry, to corroborate his allegation. Though Ambedkar didn’t specify who 'Enemy Number One' mentioned in the said report was, it is well known that Indian security agencies use the phrase to refer to Dawood Ibrahim. Shukla, however, rubbished the allegations.

As per the alleged confidential report, Shukla was part of the BCCI delegation that accompanied the Indian cricket team on the tour of Pakistan in 2004. The document has details of Shukla’s alleged meeting with 'Enemy Number One' in Lahore, at the farm house of Atikur Rehman, who is said to be an ISI operative and close associate of 'Enemy Number One'. Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh chief Prakash Ambedkar on Monday produced the alleged internal report of the ministry of external affairs’s 'G' Desk to corroborate his allegation, which states that Union minister Rajeev Shukla’s activities and movements were under the scanner when he travelled to Pakistan in 2004 as a BCCI delegate with the Indian cricket team, which went to play an ODI series with Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium.

The document produced by Ambedkar states, “Mr Shukla was at the stadium with the cricket team till lunch and slipped away from the stadium around 2.30 pm. He went to the farmhouse of Major Rehman, where ‘Enemy Number One’ was already present. Mr Shukla even handed some documents to ‘Enemy Number One’ and some copies of correspondence between Mr Shukla and the PMO was part of the said documents.” An Indian agent codenamed FAE-31 was also present at the meeting and he later sent a detailed report to the MEA.

According to FAE-31, Shukla told 'Enemy Number One' that only four RAW officers were posted in an Indian mission to snoop on underworld dons and hawala racketeers based in Pakistan. Shukla also said that “he had written a three-page letter to the Prime Minister and made a pointed reference to RAW’s non-planned expenditure having mounted to Rs 100 crores and said that the agency presence in Pakistan is less than half of its sanctioned strength.

“He also told ‘Enemy Number One’ that to curb and control RAW’s operation in Pakistan he had demanded the institution of a Cabinet committee or a high-powered panel under the Cabinet Secretary to suggest its revamp,” the document states With regard to the confidential documents, Mr Ambedkar demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh clarify whether Mr Shukla was authorised to meet the Pakistani military establishment.

Responding to these allegations, Shukla said the report on the basis of which the allegations are being made is fake and bogus.

“It’s a five-year-old allegation and he has been repeating it over and over again. There is no basis to his allegations. The documents, which he claims to have with him, are fake and bogus. It’s nonsense,” said Shukla.

^^^ This kind of treason can only be possible in India. MSA, Shukla ... there were also allegations that Mulayam Singh Yadav was also on the ISI take. Worse, even when treason becomes open knowledge, nothing happens -- it is business as usual and traitors continue to occupy powerful positions.

What's more funny is that in 2003 Congress was against TADA on terrorists but in 2013 it has no problem applying MCOCA on a sports person.

On Why MCOCA has been Slapped on Cricketers - The Hindu

I did not realize that MCOCA was applicable in Delhi too. The fair question is why were Vindoo & Gurunath Meiyappan not slapped with the same MCOCA as the bookies were common and all reporting to Chota Shakeel.
“The accused cricketers, including Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, knowingly facilitated or abetted the operation of this international organised crime syndicate and therefore, they get covered under the relevant MCOCA provisions,” said a police officer.

Explaining the reason for invoking Sections 3 and 4 of the MCOCA, the officer said the chain of bookies and the rules of betting both worked in an organised manner and the accused had — individually or collectively — derived pecuniary benefits through active participation in the conspiracy. “At least one player was even intimidated and coerced by the bookies into toeing their line and underperforming during the IPL matches,” the officer said. The MCOCA enacted in Maharashtra in 1999 was adopted in Delhi during the tenure of the former Police Commissioner, Ajai Raj Sharma, in 2002. The law was brought into operation to put a curb on organised crime in the capital.

Police investigations have revealed that alleged bookies like Ashwini Aggrawal alias Tinku Mandi and his accomplice Sunil Bhatia were in direct touch with Dawood and Chhota Shakeel allegedly operating from Pakistan and Dubai. Bhatia and Mandi also have multiple cases registered against them, The Special Cell investigators have managed to link certain phone calls between these bookies and the underworld figures on the basis of which they have now been formally accused of their complicity in the spot-fixing case.

Chhota Shakeel, whose name had also cropped up during investigations into the 2000 match-fixing scandal initially probed by the Delhi Police, is suspected to be running the entire betting racket through a large network of bookies like Mandi and conduits for the past two decades at the instance of Dawood. “D Company men even demarcate jurisdictions among the bookies to ensure smooth operations and avoid any bad blood,” said a police officer.

a sign of things to come. above is the prototype of future justifications against the Hindus. whether in a war-scenario or a natural calamity. even setbacks against the Islamics could very well be interpreted as God's intervention against the Pagans, as a favor to his flock.

MCOCA was made applicable in New Delhi as well, during the days of Ajay Raj Sharma IPS as the Police Commissioner. The way this case is going, I feel Saanthan the Praanthan would only be the chap who would be at the losing side. Others would all play the money game, regional, communal and political games and come out unscathed. Sreesanth is being assaulted by someone very high up in the food chain. Who could that be ? The one at the apex is feeling most betrayed by Mr. Sreesanth. A very small group is controlling this chain of events.

Once the Sreesanth thing comes up at court, if he has a good lawyer, all this so-called evidence that has been collected, it won't stand legal scrutiny for 5 minutes. Truly India is a banana republic.

this is the time all Keralites should stand united behind him. To me now, he seems the most innocent of the lot.

his main fault lies in being an airhead. Everyday new charges are being bought up against him. Shukla goes and actually meets Dawood, yet he moves around free. See the irony ?

Shukla still has people covering him. So have Gurunath Meiyyapappoo, & Vindu. this is result of someone gunning specifically for Kerala lobby which is in eclipse currently after TKA Nair, V. George, Tharoor etc have been sidelined. Antony is irrelevant for any practical humanitarian purpose. This group have made him a voodoo doll to strike at them.

That Deccan Chronicle article does look like a psyops piece targeted at Dawood and the ISI.

if Shukla went and met Dawood, he didn't do it of his own accord. It was at someone's behest. That someone is covering Shukla today. Indian politicians won't share the pie with anyone, least of all some dawood who has already been made irrelevant in India.

they are ravenous in nature, and want it all for themselves. Sadiyon ki bhookh hain, jaldi nahin mitegi. (it's a hunger spanning ages, it won't subside immidiately). In this context, it's highly unbelievable they will cede control to someone outside.

^^^ Corruption is one thing, but revealing details of RAW officials posted in the Indian embassy in Pakistan to a gangster in the presence of an ISI official is nothing but treason of the highest order. In other countries, the dude would be jailed for 100 years.

^^ assuming they had people posted in the embassy (which I can tell you they didn't) which is why I think the story is a plant. And since when does MEA do agent running instead of RAW or IB or DGMI.
