Saving Private Vadra

The Congress’ rush to go on the offensive when it comes to defending Private Citizen Vadra has shown that the ghost of Giani Zail Singh who boasted that he’d pick up a broom and be a sweeper if his leader asked him to do so, is still alive and well. The Congress’ new brooms definitely don’t sweep cleaner. At least Zail Singh just offered to sweep the floor. Salman Khurshid has apparently offered to lay down his life for Sonia Gandhi, if needed.

The Congress chief has perfected the art of communicating by not talking. Her ministers are more than making up for it. The more Sonia does not talk, the more voluble her ministers become, walking off talk shows, ranting against her son-in-law’s accuser and exposing themselves as courtiers falling over each other to prove themselves in some feudal loyalty test.

The PM must be an even lonelier man now. His ministers and MPs have all deserted him and suddenly turned into PR flaks for a made-for-television movie called Saving Private Vadra.

"Saving Pvt. Vadra"? What sacrilege! Sacre bleu! Mon dieu! Gott in Himmel! Mamma Mia!

Don't you know that statements from the party's bigwigs that "an attack against Vadra is an attack against the Congress party" shows that Vadra is anything but a lowly private and is truly one of India's great "jarnails"! Why he is a great cavalry hero zipping along on his trusty two-wheeler iron steed, dressed up for battle, coolers et al,like one of the infamous "Son's of Anarchy"! He will shortly according to highly placed "high command" sources be awarded his Param Vir Sonia and Field Marshal's baton for his valiant defence of the familia over and above the call of fillial duty and his great victory at the battle of Kejriwal on the plains of DLF ,where he singlehandledly routed the forces of eviltude ...the IAC, (Idiotic Anna Curs).

Thanks to soon-to-be Field Marshal Vadra, esprit de corps was also resurrected in the supine Congress party ,riven with infighting ,as his glorious actions in the real-estate field brought them back to life like true cannon-fodder ever-ready as Maj.Jarnail Salman Kurshid trumpeted,"ready to lay down his life for Italy"!

Mr. Vadra was reportedly unhappy with somebody making a controversy out of a comment made by him on Facebook on Sunday. “Mango people in a banana republic,” he reportedly commented but later deleted the remark.

So it is 'somebody making a controversy out of' not the remark itself that is a problem..

If it were a BJP leader, of course, by now Chindu would have three editorials and ten opinion pieces condemning such fascist, anti-national remark about the entire nation being a banana replublic..

Stalinist yellows are also keeping their focus entirely on BJP's discomfort and ambivalence, instead of the serious charges that are facing the damaad..

The Robert Vadra mystery: Forget property, how did he acquire Priyanka? - Firstpost

To call the story of the growth of Vadra’s business empire… rags to riches would be stretching things a bit simply because there were no rags at its beginning. If anything, The Hindu’s description makes the business model of Vadra’s companies sound like a perpetual motion machine, with assets swelling despite no increase in business activity.

Then again, Robert’s ability to acquire precious commodities has always relied on the miraculous, as Unreal Times points out: “Certainly, Vadra’s acquisition of Priyanka was disproportionate to all his known sources of talent and Vadra needs to give a full account of his courtship to the public.” :rotfl: :rotfl:

We will never solve the mystery behind the miracle that is Robert Vadra. But his saving virtue for the Gandhi family is clear: He makes his brother-in-law look like Albert Einstein.

IMHO the damage is done...as Bofors took away the clean and white-washed myth of Rajeev's incorruptibility, this one too would take away the myth of current dynasty being fairies from heaven who are there to sacrifice everything for the country.

Pre-paid yellows, post paid yellows, rapist goon puppet yellows taken on lease in exchange for surrender to Beijing/TSP, may sing and dance as they might and try to whitewash this in days to come (mostly by throwing mud at Kejriwal, and creating secular fabric scares) but I think now in every public meeting for next election(s), BJP and others will use this as example of dynasty's dirty hands..

The crucial thing is it affects the prospects of Yuvarani. They were holding her back as a great white hope in case clown prince fails to deliver the gaddi (as he has repeatedly shown, he is dumber than his father). He is fast gaining a reputation as dimwit and loose talker without any vision or intellect despite best of yellow/domestic servants efforts to project him as the next great leader Kim.

INDIA UPDATE

WARREN BUFFET HIRES SONIA GANDHI’S SON-IN-LAW
by shovonc

In news that has relieved lovers of money everywhere, legendary
investment guru Warren Buffet has announced that the search for his successor is finally over. New Delhi-based entrepreneur Robert Vadra, son-in-law of Indian Supremo Sonia Gandhi, will soon be taking over as head of Berkshire Hathaway.

“Despite an extremely rigorous gym schedule, this extraordinary young man has become a billionaire in just four years,” said the Sage of Omaha. “Not only did he convince real estate giant DLF to give him an entire suburb of Delhi at throwaway prices, he also got them to lend him the money, interest free. My sources inform me that he is also acquiring two or three other Indian states, but he’s too modest to talk about these things.”

Members of Sonia Gandhi’s domestic staff have welcomed the move.

“I kiss his boots on a regular basis,” said Law Minister Salman
Khurshid, “It’s amazing how smooth he keeps the leather.”

“He’s extremely dynamic,” said baggage-handler Manish Tewari. “When I carry his bags at the airport, I can barely keep up. And it’s not just because he doesn’t have to go through security.”

DLF has rubbished allegations of corruption, and maintains that all dealings have been completely transparent. “We did everything very openly,” said a spokesperson for DLF. “There is no question of favouritism. We are committed to providing the same benefits to anyone who marries Priyanka Gandhi.”

Others have also earmarked Vadra for international glory.

"Let me just get through this election," said US President Barack
Obama. "If I win, I'm going to use this man's help to revive the US
economy."

Philip, I saw that...as the tamil saying goes, when the pumpkin becomes too big to hide in the plate of rice, Chindu resorts to yet another clever trick...that is to report facts and leave it there. And of course, try to present itself as 'neutral, presenting both sides of fact' onlee..

If this involved BJP, there would be detailed analysis of the evidence by special correspondents and para after para of damning indictments, criticism and condemnation. Of course, three or four editorials a week. Of course, unknown anyonymous BJP leaders would then provide private comments, exclusive to Chindu, that 'admit' that they are hopelessly corrupt.

In place of that, we have this meek bare reporting of facts (which are too large to be suppressed) and a week 'gandhian' editorial opinion piece by Katju..who merely requests MMS to issue clean chit to Vadra. No calls for arrest, investigation etc.

Just read this..

http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/c ... epage=true

Even though this was the second verbal assault on Mr. Vadra in five days, party members at the Congress headquarters were taken by surprise at the ferocity of Mr. Kejriwal’s accusations that forced even the principal opposition party
it is not serious corruption allegation backed with credible evidence...it is simply 'verbal assault'

Indeed, as the Congress hunted for a way out, party sources said the focus could shift to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda
the sacrificial lamb has been found..dynasty is pure as snow of course...

PC had said that there is no need for verification. Then around the same time, MCA, Moily said that all verifications had been done and there was nothing untoward noticed. The faithfuls doing the rounds of various tv studios have no idea either way.

The family, of course, and as always, is awfully, awfully quiet now. Sonia Gandhi came up with a distraction when she visited the family of the girl who was raped and murdered. Thus she misused the family's, and our society's collective, tragedy, for her own purpose in the true spirit of our politicians. As somebody pointed out, nobody had to balls to ask her anything when she was there.

Congress is saying Prashant Bhushan brought some property in Himachal that should be probed. They are also saying AK is doing it only for publicity for his party.

DLF said they did not give any unsecured loans. Their Balance Sheet says otherwise.

An appeal by IAC is doing rounds on twitter asking people to contact them if they know anything at all about the wrongdoings of BPTP and Indiabulls as well.

Another rumble that has started is that this is being done so people forget about the coal mining scam.

Vadra jokes abound now.

"Agar tum mil jao, kamana chhod denge hum".
Vend it like Vadra

Blame the voters of this country..

It is practically impossible to operate in the real estate sector in india if you are not a mafia don, murderer, thug, goonda, neta or babu or a mixture of all.....most title deeds are not worth a roll of toilet paper, rules are framed to block everything and then violate anything after paying the needful...Practically no zoning, building control, strata tile, post-sale management of property, or other rules that either exist or make sense, the list goes on and on...

IAC should go to the root of the problem and secure the RE sector from mafia hands..

IMHO the only ones that can do it are the Maoists.

IndianExpress Editorial ...http://www.indianexpress.com/news/politics-as-unusual/1014916/0

Excerpt:
Kejriwal, of course, is playing to his strengths. He is playing “outsider” to the hilt, and addressing himself squarely to the TV cameras that have been helpfully present, as they were through last year, even cheering his cause. Team Kejriwal has masterfully coopted the media, with teasers about the next episode, and rhetoric made for TV splashes. Of course, as they insist, the burden of proof is not on them — they are not journalists or investigators or a court of law, and they are allowed to merely point to areas of reasonable doubt. Yet, there is a question for Team Kejriwal to mull: how many degrees of separation lie between unproved allegations and the full-throttle conspiracy-mongering that internet name-callers, anonymous or not, have perfected? The answer is crucial, especially for the credibility of the new politician and party.

Delicious irony by IE - pray, who had the burden of proof for the coup story ? If that wasn't conspiracy-mongering, what was it ?

Need to grit your teeth to read this psyop.

agree with Suppaih, more gems
Robert Vadra is a far cry from the babalog boxwallahs of yore, the Rahul-Robert-Priyanka set of fashionistas are mostly garment and jewellery export business owning children of real estate who with ready access to the internet, hardly read or think about India as much as their parents might have.
( youth icons by the same MSM sometime back)
When they step out into the boondocks, like when Priyanka sallies forth into Amethi and Raebareli, they opt for the dress required of visiting tourists or foreign NGOs on a rustic Indian field trip, shedding their 7 for all Mankind jeans for khadi regalia for the benefit of “villagers” who are supposed to gasp in admiration at their ethnic costumed dramas.
(ouch it hurts)
Who are the individuals increasingly capturing the public imagination? Whether we like it or not they are Mamata Banerjee, Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar and ironically even a Naveen Patnaik or a Jairam Ramesh, the latter having just got a wave of public sympathy from Dalit communities for his toilets-are-purer-than-temples remark. These are ear-to-the ground 24*7 politicians, living breathing and existing with people, some, like Patnaik and Ramesh, Macaulayputras who have reinvented themselves as quasi folk heroes by lowering the volume on privilege and raising the volume on connectedness with people.(equating NaMo with mamata Didi, NK,NP and JR- one more wall breached in some ways) Rahul and Sonia Gandhi simply cannot compete with a Mamata Banerjee or even a Nitish Kumar, not just because the Gandhis don’t spring from the soil but also because they lack the 24*7 engagement with people, that building a mass profile now requires. The UPA’s present image crisis stems in large measure from the perceived elitism of its top leadership.
(indicting sonia brood for the failures- ouch must hurt their peach bottoms)
When Rahul Gandhi tells a rally in Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh that UPites have been forced to become “beggars” in Mumbai, when he takes a British politician to spend a night at a Dalit home, when Sonia Gandi issues a two line royal edict from 10 Jan Path claiming Vadra has done no wrong and expects it to be swallowed by some mythical adoring mass of dynasty worshippers, these actions and statements are so out of sync with the prevailing mood that they appear as the last gasp of an ancien regime.
(Is it reality dawning :rotfl: )
Vadra has indeed given the Indian elite a bad name, from Jawaharlal to Robert is an unfortunate trajectory for a family and a nation.

(Mistakes equating vadra for Indian elites who are far off better than the teflon family).

Looks like the personal anguish of the teflon family writer.
At least made some attempt. IOW again some breach in the wall.

I know we blame MKG for not supporting Patel but once the idea was to enfranchise without education, it would be someone from the Ganga-Jamuna belt due to demogrpahic margins, in which case might as well appear wise and acquiese to JLN.

The thing is to find ways to work within the 'system' since it can't be changed...in that respect, somehow I am getting a feeling we at BRF are missing the pulse of the 'real india' obsessed as we are with the shenanigans of the prepaid/postpaid/leased Stalinist yellows (who BTW have gone back to their 'suppress all news of Kejriwal, hope it goes away' trick. Yellows that are yet to speak out for women raped and savaged by their ideological fellow travelers in Nandigram and elsewhere are picking on Chautala's silly comment to let the dynasty off the hook), who are mostly occupying the angrezi media..

As can be seen from comments here + in the media itself, the credibility of the hired yellows is at lowest point. Yet they carry on blissfully because they are paid to do so and/or allowed to engage in influence peddling.

It may be worthwhile to have a thread that focusses exclusively on what the vernacular media, particularly in the cowbelt is saying..after all we have the entire bharat represented in this forum...then we know how the game is really being played..may be it is the same game, may be it is different..

The unimaginable trillions India lost to Nehruvian socialism
Scams amounting to lakhs of crores of rupees seem to be the defining feature of the Sonia Gandhi-led UPA government. The theft of public assets is nothing new, however. It is a structural problem endemic to the system of governance imposed on the Indian people. The mind simply boggles at the sheer size of the loot. Estimates regarding money stashed away in offshore banks amount to $1 trillion and more. And that’s just one part of the wealth stolen from India.

Let’s do a little bit of arithmetic. At the time of India’s political independence from Britain, India’s population was around 350 million. The per capita GDP was around $250 (in constant 2010 dollars). Over the last 65 years, India has grown at an average GDP growth rate of close to 2.1 per cent. We call that the “Nehru Rate of Growth,” (the rate at which the time to double the GDP is 35 years). ( rate of growth with appropriate name-- ?brfite or lurker. )

If you add up the GDP of India for the years 1950 to 2010, you get a figure of approximately $25 trillion. In other words, the Indian economy produced an aggregate amount of goods and services that are valued at $25 trillion. During that time, the population went up from 350 million to around 1.2 billion.

Now hold your breath, consider this
Now consider a counterfactual. What if instead of the 2.1 per cent annual Nehru rate of growth, the Indian economy had grown at a reasonable 6 per cent per year? What would have been the aggregate GDP then? The answer is a staggering $145 trillion. That means that Nehruvian socialism has cost India around $120 trillion so far — and counting.
:(
China has India’s failed Nehruvian socialist policies to thank for at least a part of its success.

What would India have been like had its leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru and his daughter Indira Gandhi chosen to make India economically free? India would have been at least a middle-income country with a per capita income of around $10,000 per year.

Hundreds of millions of Indians would have had a shot at living decent lives and contributed to global welfare. The loss India has suffered hardly bears imagining.

It is high time India chose a different path — one that leads to prosperity instead of poverty. But for that, Indians will have to first fully understand how needless and futile socialism is for economic well-being.

Institutionalisation of Corruption under Congress
One could still argue that a socialist philosophy as advocated by Nehru had its supporters at that point in time and therefore he at least had the right intentions (howsoever wrong those intentions might have turned out to be). One subject however, on which I cannot let Nehru and the Congress party escape culpability is the institutionalisation of corruption in India. The last 5 years have been most damaging to India’s reputation as a democracy and as an investment destination for both domestic and foreign investors. We have witnessed corruption scandals worth unimaginable amounts. These scandals have led to India standing at rank 95 among 183 countries in the ‘Corruption Perception Index’ published by Transparency International in 2011. Some of the other emerging countries like China, Ghana, South Africa, Cuba and Costa Rica fare much better than us on this index. India’s score, at 3.1 in 2011, was a significant decline from the high of 3.5 in 2007. Our standing on corruption in the world, in many ways, reflects upon the performance of Congress or the Nehru-Gandhi family as they have directly or indirectly ruled India for most of the 65 years since independence at Central, State and Municipal levels.

It would be a mistake to believe that corruption in India is a recent phenomenon. The rot that we see in all branches of Government where corruption has more or less become institutionalised has set in gradually since even before Independence, under the Congress leadership. In 1939, none other than Mahatma Gandhi had said, “I would go to the length of giving the whole Congress a decent burial, rather than put up with the corruption that is rampant,” in response to the widespread corruption in Congress ministries formed under 1935 Act in six states in 1937.

Going against the demand of the Opposition for judicial inquiry as suggested by the Inquiry Committee, the Government led by Nehru announced on Sep 30, 1955 that the Jeep scandal case was closed. Union Minister G B Pant declared, “as far as Government was concerned it has made up its mind to close the matter. If the opposition was not satisfied, they can make it an election issue.”

This arrogant stand was driven in equal parts by a lack of opposition and Nehru’s tolerance for corruption and craving for loyalty. As a reward for Menon’s loyalty, he was inducted into the Nehru cabinet as a Minister without Portfolio. Eventually Menon rose to become the Defense Minister and under his leadership we lost the 1962 war to China. As Defense Minister, Menon had repeatedly declined the Army’s request for safeguarding India against Chinese aggression saying that the real enemy was Pakistan and not China. When the Chinese attacked, we were caught napping.

Nehru further showed his embrace of corruption in the judicial inquiry into the charges against Pratap Singh Kairon. The inquiry was held after an indictment was handed out by the Supreme Court in a case filed by a Punjab Civil Surgeon. It was the first ever judicial inquiry into charges of corruption, set up against a Chief Minister in office by the Government of India. The commission concluded that “There is no getting away from the fact that Kairon knew or had ample reason to suspect that his sons and relatives were allegedly exploiting his influence and powers. In view of his inaction in the face of the circumstances herein before alluded to, he must be held to have connived at the doings of his sons and relatives, his colleagues and the government officers.”

Nehru reacted to this matter by saying “The question thus arises as to whether the Chief Minister is compelled to resign because of the adverse findings on some questions of fact by the Supreme Court. The ministers are collectively responsible to the legislature. Therefore, the matter was one, which concerned the Assembly. As a rule therefore, the question of removing a minister would not arise unless the legislature expressed its wish by a majority vote.” Supported by Nehru, Kairon’s initial reaction was to stick to his office in spite of the adverse verdict. But when Lal Bahadur Shastri got the report published, Kairon had no option but to quit.

These two cases clearly demonstrate how Nehru not only had a high tolerance for corruption but also how he created a culture where nepotism was an acceptable way of life and how corruption was never a deterrent to the advancement of political career of the culprit. We see the same philosophy in play in the current UPA Government everyday. UPA leadership always reacts with disdain to the demands of resignations of corrupt ministers, choosing rather to keep promoting the corrupt.
