Most Clifton houses have high perimeter walls, CCTV and their own 24 hour armed security guards. Plus, armed police presence is ubiquitous and response times are good.

Everyone does not need to have such a fortification. Smattering of enough armed private security guards in a neighbourhood does not present good odds for miscreants.

Has anyone plotted the attacks on google maps? My hunch is that these are on the outer regions of Karachi but I could be wrong.

Why is that a country that makes such a big deal of its Mohammadden identity sees so frequently the killing of Mohammaddens by Mohammaddens at locations and times of Mohammadden significance such as Mosques, Fridays, Ramadan and Muharram :?:

All this is normal. It is part of the Islamic identity of Pakistan. That is how things must be as Islam gets pure, for no nation can claim greater purity than Pakistan. "Paki" after all means "pure" if you ignore the other meaning - pubic hair.

This is the begining of the long awaited Pashtun hardliners taking on the Pakjabi hardliners.

BTW SeS (soldiers of Muhammad) was state sponsored hardliner Islamist Pakjabi group used to spread terror among other Muslims in Pakistan. A couple of years ago they killed the Ah le Hadith leaders in Karachi.

President Mohammad Ayub Khan, in his emotionally charged radio address to the nation, recited the kalma tayyaba to warn India that the kalma reciting Pakistani would not rest until the enemy’s guns were silenced.Through the 17-day war in 1965, the entire country reverberated to the vociferous chants of jihad against Hindu India. Jihad and Islam were formalised almost as a military doctrine. So much of this jihad-dominated propaganda poured into the media, both print and electronic, that an inconclusive war turned into a final victory.
Frontline troops, lieutenants, colonels and lower ranks followed the five-time prayers code strictly. A number of field officers even refused to have their pictures taken, calling it un-Islamic. For the field marshal and his army chief, General Musa, the reactive Islamic lore came as a godsend. The field marshal’s invocation of the kalma became the popular slogan ‘Pakistan ka matlab kia? Laillah illahla’ (what does Pakistan mean? There is only one God).
Comparisons with Badr and Uhud, led by the Prophet (PBUH) himself, were freely cited. Jihadism, post-1965, emerged as a powerful talisman and motivational force for senior commanders to motivate their men and young officers. General Musa’s post-war tours of the units, still in their battle locations, made a strange mix of the highest rhetoric for the Islamic Pakistan Army and the harshest references to India’s exemplary perfidy and rank cowardice.

The Beechcraft shoot down was a military plane vs a civilan plane that appeared lost and was surrendering by the Paki pilot's own account. So to shoot it down is cowardly act by the Paki pilot Hussain and cannot be equated to the Battle of Basantar.

Also note the tone of humilty of the Paki Brig in recounting the Battle of Basantar vs the triumphalism in the Paki pilot Hussain's account of the Beechcraft shootdown. A world of difference. The Paki pilot's account is more like a ghazi slaughtering his surrendered victims. This is same as long line of infamous murderers from that region including those who killed Daniel Pearl.
Only thing missing is whether he screamed AOA while firing.

Ashok Malik has lost his moral compass when he equates the two.
There I said it again.
Perfectly valid statement. The attitude in 1965 is on record. An excerpt from Nosey Haider's book which I reviewed

http://www.bharat-rakshak.com/IAF/index ... cle&id=812
Interestingly Haider describes the Islamic ritual he prescribed as morale booster for his pilots before the Pathankot raid. He asked for a bucket of cologne in water to be brought in and towels dipped in it for the pilots to rub themselves before the attack so that in case any of them were killed they would be smelling good for the “houris and angels” who would receive them at the gates of heaven.

(Posting in Full) Husband Arrested for Plotting Shooting that Killed Wife in Front of Son
The husband of a woman who was gunned down as the couple walked with their son along a New Jersey street after a Ramadan dinner has been arrested for plotting her murder with another woman, authorities said Friday.

Prosecutors say Kashif Pervaiz, who was also shot in the Tuesday night ambush, is charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.

Nazish Noorani, 27, was killed. Pervaiz is accused of plotting her murder along with a female acquaintance, identified as Antoinette Stephen, 26, of Boston. She faces charges of murder and conspiracy.

The married couple's 3-year-old son was not hurt. They also have a 5-year-old, who was not with them when they were shot.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said Pervaiz had given conflicting statements about what happened, first saying that they were attacked by several gunmen who called them "terrorists."

"Within hours of the crime, it was obvious to investigators that this was sadly the alleged handy work of the victim's husband who allegedly did the unthinkable and plotted to murder his wife, after a religious celebration," Bianchi said.

Bianchi could not characterize how Pervaiz and the Boston woman know each other, but said they did have some sort of relationship.

Noorani's funeral is being held this afternoon. Lawyer information for Pervaiz was not immediately available.

Prosecutors said Pervaiz was arrested shortly after the killing, but the information was not publicly released because investigators were pursuing his alleged co-conspirator, who was arrested in Massachusetts on Thursday night.

Noorani's sister, Lubna Chouhdry, told NBC New York on Thursday that her sister had sent their brother a text in recent months saying she was afraid for her life, writing that if she turned up dead someday, it was her husband who did it.

Pervaiz was shot four times. Noorani's relatives said before the charges were announced that they hoped he didn't have anything to do with the shooting.

"I'm hoping he's not involved," said Kaleem Noorani, the victim's brother. "I'm hoping it's nothing like that."

According to her family, Pervaiz sent his wife a text message just before 11 p.m. telling her they should leave the sister's home and walk to her father's home a couple blocks away.

Husband admits role in fatal Boonton shooting of wife, prosecutor says

Police: Accused man claimed bias in wife’s killing
By Associated Press
Friday, August 19, 2011 - Added 7 minutes ago

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A Pakistani-American man whose wife was gunned down while they and their son strolled a quiet suburban street plotted the killing with another woman and told police his family had been attacked by a group of men who called them terrorists, authorities said Friday.

Kashif Parvaiz, 26, suffered non-life-threatening wounds in the shooting in Boonton, N.J., that killed his 27-year-old wife, Nazish Noorani. They were walking with their 3-year-old son to a relative’s house when shots rang out Tuesday night. The boy was unharmed.

Parvaiz and 26-year-old Antoinette Stephen, of Billerica, Mass., both face charges of murder, conspiracy and weapons offenses. He also faces child-endangerment charges.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi, Parvaiz’ initial accounts of the attack were inconsistent and immediately raised suspicions.

Parvaiz had told investigators the couple was attacked by a different combination of black and white males who shouted ethnic slurs at the Pakistani couple, authorities said. In his initial story, the group shouted something about the family being "terrorists," authorities said.

Bianchi said investigators were deeply concerned when Parvaiz suggested it was a bias crime, but within hours "it was obvious to investigators that this was sadly the alleged handy work of the victim’s husband who allegedly did the unthinkable and plotted to murder his wife."

Bianchi didn’t characterize the relationship between Stephen and Parvaiz, but investigators wrote in an arrest affidavit that Parvaiz and Noorani had a turbulent relationship. Authorities said he met Stephen in Brooklyn and the two discussed the murder plot.

Bianchi wouldn’t say who pulled the trigger.

The affidavit quotes a text message from Noorani to her brother in which she wrote "Someday u will find me dead but its cuz of kashi ... He wants to kill me."

Bianchi said Friday that Parvaiz, who has been in the hospital, was arrested "a few days ago." Stephen was arrested Thursday night in Massachusetts. Parvaiz was being held on $1 million bail, while Stephen was awaiting extradition and being held on $5 million bail.

Noorani was a native of Karachi, Pakistan, while Parvaiz was originally from Brooklyn, relatives have said. The couple were wed in an arranged marriage six years ago. They were in Boonton, which has many Pakistani-American residents, visiting relatives.

Parvaiz told family he was attending graduate school at Harvard, but the school has no record of him studying there
.

New Jersey authorities gave the spelling of Stephen’s first name as Antoinette, but it is spelled Antionette in public records.

Kabul Attack on British Compound Linked to Pakistan, Police Chief Says
Gen. Ayub Slangi told ABC News the attackers, who used a truck bomb, suicide bombs and automatic weapons to besiege the British Council for hours, were in constant contact with their superiors in Pakistan based on cell phones recovered after Afghan and international forces retook the compound. Slangi has previously said attacks in Afghanistan were directed out of Pakistan.

An opinion piece by a TSPian prof in US. He confirms the adage that you can take a Paki out of Pakistan but cannot take the Pakistan out of a Paki. He is nothing more than a Jehadi mascarading as a Professor.

The troublesome Lashkar
By Saleem H Ali
Published: August 19, 2011
The writer is professor of environmental planning and Asian Studies at the University of Vermont, US. He can be followed on Twitter: saleem_ali

Among the many jihadi outfits that were spawned by a malevolent mix of Cold War opportunism and presidential zealotry during the Zia years, the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has the most intriguing pedigree. Its founding leader Hafiz Saeed was a member of the Council on Islamic Ideology created by Zia. He was a popular lecturer of Islamic studies at the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore but became increasingly radicalised following a sojourn in Saudi Arabia, where he had been sent by the government for higher studies. The organisation which he founded as Markaz al Dawa al Irshad became the prime organisation for preaching the Salafi (Wahabbi) school of thought in Pakistan and continues to this day to be a formidable force.

The ISI may have been seduced into supporting Saeed’s organisation during the 1990s because of their focused, and somewhat misplaced, stance on the Kashmiri jihad. When doing research on madrassas in Pakistan some years ago, I had the opportunity to visit the enormous complex of the Markaz near Muridke. The sheer scale of the complex with hectares of crop fields, aquaculture ponds, training buildings and schools, surrounded by fortified walls and watch towers suggested some level of state support for the organisation. While international pressure forced the overt training infrastructure to be dismantled, the organisation morphed into Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and continued with its activities. To this day, the Pakistani state and the international community remain unwilling or unable to dismantle the JuD. Yet the existence of the JuD is currently the most significant stumbling block in improving relations between India and Pakistan. There are several reasons for this impasse. First, the JuD has followed the model of Hamas as a militant organisation that also has a very powerful charitable wing. During Pakistan’s recent natural disasters, it mobilised its activists to help people in need and this has won the organisation much grass-roots support. With this, it is extremely difficult to dismantle an organisation and castigate its leadership. For this reason it is impossible to find witnesses to testify against any of the JuD leadership with regard to their connections to particular terrorist acts. Following the dismissal of the case against Hafiz Saeed in the Lahore High Court, Justice Asif Khosa famously said: “In the name of terrorism we cannot brutalise the law.”

Furthermore, as noted by Steven Tankel in his authoritative new book on the LeT titled Storming the World Stage, (Columbia University Press, 2011) Pakistan is so embroiled in a struggle against anti-state jihadis (such as the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan) that it does not have the capacity to deal with all outfits simultaneously. Tankel notes towards the end of his book that “Dismantling Lashkar must be a gradual process in order to avoid provoking a major backlash that could destabilise the country.”

India needs to appreciate this sensitive internal reality within Pakistan and should not make the arrests of JuD officials a prerequisite for substantive movement in the peace process. Indeed, moving forward with a serious peace effort internally within Kashmir, as well as with Pakistan would be the most potent way of eroding the militant strands of the Lashkar.

Targeting the JuD will also not serve much purpose. Indeed, its charitable arm could provide an important means of ‘repatriating’ the jihadis towards more socially beneficial functions once there is comprehensive regional peace. At the same time, it is important for the religious parties to do some soul-searching as well and consider the results achieved by their militancy. With current power differentials and global norms against violent extremism, the Kashmiri jihadis are far more likely to achieve success through non-violent civil disobedience. The Mumbai attacks have done nothing to further the cause of Kashmir..{In other words in a different time, success through violence against innocent Indians is perfectly legitimate strategy. If there had been any progress on the J&K issue with TSP then the Mumbai attacks would have been alright too.} Often Pakistanis blame India for intervention in Balochistan — we need to consider that Indians view us in the same way vis-à-vis Kashmir. Amidst all this, the West has to realise that both India and Pakistan have a nefarious record of covert intervention that is a legacy of the Cold War modus operandi mastered by the US and the Soviets. Instead of futile blame games, there needs to be greater effort made to address the genuine internal grievances of ethnic minorities within both India and Pakistan — such an approach would most directly delegitimise the subcontinent’s vigilante Lashkars.

Almost.

"It takes Deep Thought 7½ million years to compute and check the answer, which turns out to be 42. The Ultimate Question itself is unknown.

When asked to produce The Ultimate Question, the computer says that it cannot; however, it can help to design an even more powerful computer, the Earth, that can."

At the end of the first radio series (and television series, as well as the novel The Restaurant at the End of the Universe) Arthur Dent, having escaped the Earth's destruction, potentially has some of the computational matrix in his brain. He attempts to discover The Ultimate Question by extracting it from his brainwave patterns, as abusively[2] suggested by Marvin the Paranoid Android, when a Scrabble-playing caveman spells out forty two. Arthur pulls random letters from a bag, but only gets the sentence "What do you get if you multiply six by nine"?

“ "Six by nine. Forty two."

"That's it. That's all there is."

"I always thought something was fundamentally wrong with the universe"

A river of blood spilled in a house of Islam, by a follower of Islam, for a cause of better Islamic rule and yet no one in the Islamic world is discussing a revision/reinterpretation of Islam for a better world.
Huh? This is that better world. This is a normal day in jannat. Who can question the Islamic credentials of Pakistan?

More seriously the persistence of such attacks is and the lack of efficacy of the so called "most powerful force" in Pakistan - the army in being able to chcek this is not just a loss of control - it is an indicator of how the Pakistan army has handed over control to the pious Islamists.

When you have a population that is heavily armed and has acces to high tech factory manufactured explosives like RDX tat will kill a hundred in one go - there is a need to crack down on that population and clear it out of letal material to re exert state control. In the case of Pakistan the state was too busy encouraging that population to kill people that the army wanted to have killed - usually Indians, and now American soldiers and some Shias etc.

These are signs of state failure, to be taken along with overpopulation, resurgence of polio etc.

Eight bodies found in Balochistan
Eight bullet-riddled bodies were recovered from Pasni, Hub and Mastung areas of Balochistan on Thursday and Friday.
The deceased were identified as Sajid Baloch and Khalid Baloch, who were missing for the last few weeks. Baloch National Movement sources claimed that both the men were members of their central committee.
All the bodies bore bullet marks on the head and chest.

Sharp rise in roadside dumping of bodies
An alarming increase in the dumping of corpses by the roadside in different parts of the city has been witnessed this year, said police and rescue workers
The phenomenon common in the 1990s seems to have returned with the mere difference that plastic bags have replaced the old jute bags, which were used to dump bodies then.
According to police records, 1,241 people were killed during the last seven months in the city, while last year the metropolis had witnessed a total of 1,339 killings.
The senior functionary of the country`s largest charity said: “On a daily average, two bodies were found lying abandoned in different parts of the city this year.”
Generally the bodies are thrown from moving cars, but these days motorcycles are being used for the purpose, according to some police officials.
Nowadays if a family visited police station to report about their missing relative, officials usually advised them to visit the Edhi morgue

One thing is certain. The paki-killers are no environmentalists.

More macabre news from the land of plenty (of mayhem). No space left in mortuary
No space was left in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital Karachi to keep bodies being taken there that were found mostly in the city’s downtown areas on Thursday.
Because of the ‘unprecedented situation’, the bodies are being kept on concrete slabs as there are only three post-mortem examination tables in the mortuary

Finally! An admission. Home minister admits failure of govt
..a depressed home minister said: “Today is not a good day for the Sindh government, police and other law-enforcement agencies
In reply to yet another question, he said the situation in Karachi did not deteriorate in a day. It had reached to this tipping point due to the policies of the past few decades.

Guys: You heard it here first, but this story gets a real twist: Ms. Stephen is an SDRE. Now the purest of the pure will of course claim, "Our pure son, Kashif, couldn't have done this without the involvement of this SDRE woman. Especially during the holy month!"

Pakistan seeks closer links with Xinjiang
Only TSP has the gumption to say this after it was found supporting terrorism in Xinjiang. Trly, hats off to Pakistan. Now, let us see how PRC reacts.
Pakistan has sought closer economic links with China's far-western Xinjiang region and has pledged to assuage the country's security fears in the wake of recent attacks which Chinese officials have blamed on Pakistan-based terror groups.

Pakistan was working towards “integrated border management” with China and in creating a trans-regional economic zone with rail linkages between the disputed Gilgit-Baltistan region in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and neighbouring Xinjiang, said its Ambassador to China Masood Khan here on Friday.

Mr. Khan said China's plans to build a Special Economic Zone in the border city of Kashgar would bring the two countries closer by strengthening trade links, and pledged support to addressing security concerns that some Chinese analysts fear may impact cross-border trade ties. While Chinese officials hope Kashgar's development into an SEZ will raise incomes in Xinjiang's south, a region seen as the source of unrest, authorities have also expressed increasing concern over growing cross-border terror linkages.
