in UK such purchases are strictly monitored unless some one imports from East Europe... but then UK is an island hence heavily guarded. Even this attacker could only access knives and no fire arms.
It would not be wrong to assume in current situation UK is one of the safest countries in Europe, even colleagues from east Eu endorse this.
(who have worked in army spl units).

how is the drug scene there? usually weapons are smuggled along the same channels are drugs as the machinery is well oiled and people paid to look the other way on drug shipments can be bypassed without their knowledge. this is how D-company graduated from gold and drugs into working for ISI - they had the logistics and people for end to end delivery from Krachi to GUJ/MH coast and then on to friendly warehouses.

belgium apparently has a thriving black market for weapons usually smuggled in from eastern europe.

bulgaria seems to be source of most of the jihadis weapons in syria, paid for by gulfies and other shadow backers but produced and lifted from bulgaria.

drugs are rife, but somehow guns are not. a tv channel ran an undercover op recently and managed to source assault rifles from E Europe mafia, but these are not showing up on the streets. france/belgium have far more easy access to assault weapons

interestingly, the modern VBIED was 'invented' by hezbollah and used initially by them in the 80's (when assad senior was driving the game and the americans were bombing gaddafi in response!). it was only later copied by the sunnis and then deployed against the shias!

added - the irish republicans also used truck bombs against UK cities in the 80's and 90's - but these rarely killed people. major major damage in central manchester and parts of london. but usually done in the middle of the night and no soosai

in my childhood the IRA used some math and rigged up a van with a few mortars and landed a couple in the garden of 10 downing.

the claim is munna was radicalized in saudi arabia. but since UK has a $100b of weapons going that way, no can ask for details

move along now, shoo shoo.

saudis will continue to use UK for their investments and summer trips to enjoy the fruits of the kuffar lifestyle.

he spent a little bit of time in saudi but that may or may not be significant
he spent time in prison, that could be more significant except that it was a long time ago
emerging picture is of a misfit disturbed man too old for teenage rage but still not stable
chances are that he was mentally ill and someone persuaded him to vent his rage (the cause might be fairly incidental)
he has a history of violent crime - suggestive of something deeper than just the pure fire if jeeehard

yes it is coming in since morning he worked as teacher in Saudi for 4 years and was radicalised there.
What are chances he is triple agent?

@Singha IRA still causes problem to local police with home made mortar, crude bums planted then disclosed deliberately, and yes they did cause massive damage in past but their alliance with Islamists is unlikely. As Lalmohan said drugs are plenty on street but some how guns are not.

the IRA were actually quite sophisticated but generally chose not to go for mass casualty attacks
some of their targeted attacks were very cleverly done - mercury tilt switches, etc.
they would also source many of their ingredients from readily available materials (now no longer so easy to get) and then only latterly started receiving more sophisticated kit from the libyans and possibly the syrians

bill and tony's only achievement was to bring peace to northern ireland - which is just about holding despite the current turmoil due to brexit, etc.

Disagree -
"Only teenagers can have jihaadi rage.
Other people have to be mentally ill to have jihadi rage at 52 years of age."
Not true at all.

In the later years, the IRA was even kind enough to give the brit police a short heads up that such & such car, parked here is going to blow up.
The brit police would arrive on the scene and see a car just blowing up or burning

You look for extenuating factors for Jihadi crime and are convinced that similar crimes by White Christians are driven by Racism. I guess we understand where you are coming from

They were careful not to cause human casualties, esp after the Birmingham Six episode. There was a huge backlash against Irish people and their business interests after that. They could kill the British soldiers in N.Ireland but not on mainland UK and never targeted civilians.

So UK intel can't intercept whatsapp? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-39400554

Revelations that Masood's phone may have connected with messaging app WhatsApp two minutes before he struck have prompted a debate about the responsibilities of messaging services.
Home Secretary Amber Rudd said encrypted messages must be accessible to intelligence services fighting terror, stressing there must be "no place for terrorists to hide".
She is meeting technology firms this week.
A WhatsApp spokeswoman said the company was "horrified at the attack" and was co-operating with the investigation.

Thanks for spotting this expression of taqiya on the Thames. Two points missed, who managed to organise this lot in such a short space of time, and look at the way the hijab and headscarf is being normalised in a Western capital. This particular normalisation of deviance is in fact an expression of domination

Hardly professional though they lost their collegues.

The gate was unmanned for quite some time and had the jihadi has a sucide car they would have easily passed the gate hitting the Parliament building

Tried to dig into who is behind women chain (in hijab) at Westminster bridge. It is a shadowy movement called 'Women's March On London group'.
Not much is known about their funding etc but they organised huge rally against Trump in Feb. They have twitter handle as well and a scrutiny reveals they have not tweeted single tweet against Yezidi sex slaves or women in Saudi..

Image
some of their sponsors; this includes GreenPeace, Amnesty etc.

Some local British women are inserted in protest to make it look legitimate.

More than 400 former jihadi fighters back in Britain, say security sources. In absence of enough evidence most are getting lost into the crowd avoiding jail. Even when jailed terms are nominal.

If you ever had a doubt that Muslims didn't condemn terrorism, the guardian has come to the rescue.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/shortcuts/2017/mar/26/muslims-condemn-terrorism-stats

The 712-page Google doc that proves Muslims do condemn terrorism

When a classmate told 19-year-old Heraa Hashmi that “all terrorists are Muslims” she began to compile a dossier of all instances of Muslims condemning terror attacks.

Arwa Mahdawi

Sunday 26 March 2017 12.00 EDT
Last modified on Sunday 26 March 2017 19.10 EDT

It happened in history class. Heraa Hashmi, a 19-year-old American Muslim student at the University of Colorado, was supposed to be discussing the Crusades with the man sitting next to her. Within a few minutes, however, he was crusading against Islam.

“Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims,” Hashmi’s classmate told her. What’s more, he complained, not enough Muslims were making a stand against terrorism.

Hashmi was perplexed by this analysis. Muslims are constantly denouncing atrocities that have been committed in the name of Islam. Yet many people seem to think Muslims don’t condemn terrorism enough. So Hashmi decided to put the notion to the test. Using Google spreadsheets, she made a “712-page list of Muslims condemning things with sources”, which she tweeted. The list includes everything from acts of domestic violence to 9/11.

“I wanted to show people how weak the argument [that Muslims don’t care about terrorism] is,” she explained.

Her stats struck a chord. Within 24 hours, Hashmi’s tweet had been retweeted 15,000 times. A couple of her followers volunteered to help her turn her spreadsheet into an interactive website and, within a week of the tweet, muslimscondemn.com was born. This was last November, but the website has grown considerably since then and, sadly, flickers into prominence whenever a new attack takes place.

Hashmi’s project isn’t just designed to prove that Muslims are constantly condemning terrorism; she made it to demonstrate how ridiculous it is that Muslims are constantly expected to offer apologies for terrorist acts. Muslims, notes Hashmi, are “held to a different standard than other minorities: 1.6 billion people are expected to apologise and condemn [terrorism] on behalf of a couple of dozen lunatics. It makes no sense.” After all, Hashmi, says, “I don’t view the KKK or the Westboro Baptist church or the Lord’s Resistance Army as accurate representations of Christianity. I know that they’re on the fringe. So it gets very frustrating having to defend myself and having to apologise on behalf of some crazy people.”

You can see that double standard at play in the aftermath of the London attacks. Khalid Masood, the London attacker, was born Adrian Elms in Dartford, Kent and is believed to have converted to Islam in prison. Have we heard Kent natives – hello Nigel Farage! – condemn the actions of the people born in their county? (“I hope my Kentish brothers and sisters will reach out to fellow Britons in solidarity to demonstrate that such hatred will not defeat the inherent bonhomie of the home counties?”) No, we haven’t, because that would be ridiculous. And yet Muslims have often been expected to apologise for the actions of someone on the very fringes of their community, and have done so.

Thanks to Hashmi, all these condemnations are now carefully recorded at muslimscondemn.com. So for anyone asking why more Muslims don’t denounce terrorism, you know where to go.

The fun starts?

Scottish lawmakers voted 69-59 in favor of an independence referendum Tuesday, setting Edinburgh on a collision course with the UK government. The vote by members of the Scottish Parliament gives the green light to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon to ask the UK Parliament for a referendum between autumn 2018 and spring 2019. Poodlestan Prime Minister Theresa May has indicated she will reject the Sturgeon's timetable. Britain is expected to leave the European Union in 2019, and May has said that "now is not the time" for a vote that could break up the United Kingdom. But Sturgeon has said there is an "unquestionable democratic mandate" for a referendum.

Time for Indian Parliament to introduce a resolution Strongly Supporting the Inalienable Right of the Scotch (hic!) Scottish People to Self-Determination.

Gets better:

Scottish parliament votes for second independence referendum
MSPs pass motion to give Nicola Sturgeon the authority to begin negotiations with UK parliament on breakaway vote

Time for Resolution to express Solidarity With the Freedom-Loving People of Scottistan with their rich cultural heritage. I still remember the guided Bus Tour:

This is where the Campbells massacred the MacDonalds and looted their whisky supplies.
And this is where the McDonalds massacred the Campbells and burned their shacks.

When I was in Birmingham in the mid 80's I heard about this from many of the local people, there was also a news item on television one day. That's all I can say. Not going to spend time searching for links.

You can often collect funds openly for a dubious organization, especially in a place like an Irish pub where the IRA would be viewed in a sympathetic light. In those days (post 1984) a large number of Sikh shops in UK were also collecting for Khalistan and of course you can still find jars in local Paki stores here in the US labeled 'for mosque'. Not sure where the money ends up though. I doubt the police have the time to chase all such people.

This time the Scots will vote YES,preferring EU privileges to second-class treatment by London, which will complicate travel in the UK massively.Even routine travel between N.Ireland and the Irish Republic will be affected. I have travelled between the two by rail-no checks at all unlike air travel from London to Dublin. Imagine travelling by the E-Coast line to Waverly from King's Cross. You will have passport checks at both ends just like travelling on the Eurostar from Paris to St.Pancras!

More importantly is the fate of the RN's strat. SSBN base at Faslane. Then there's the historic naval anchorage at Scapa Flow in the Orkney islands
Perhaps Scotland could allow these bases to remain by becoming a NATO member. Then the defence of Scotland could be a NATO responsibility, not just that of Britain.

N.Ireland unlikely to break with London,as the Nationalists will prevent any break-up with the Union. It will then sadly mean the checkpoints again.
However,Mrs. Mayday...oops! May,is dead against the Scots having a second go at Independence, saying nothing until Brexit has been sealed. That happy day looks way off in a distant galaxy, the untangling of knots so complicated. Therefore the more Mrs. May delays the day,the louder will the cries for independence be from the Scots.

There can be no going back. Mrs May thunders in parliament. Brexit in progress now. Nigel Farage while fanning Brexit fire is steering clear from any responsibility like running for election next time.
Any way at the moment their party has one MP only (in spite of 13% vote share in 2015). This means many voters of conservatives or even labour voted for Brexit.
