Re: Bomb explosion in Boston
I think the idea was to ID the bombers by the public. Though they might have seen someone who looked like the younger guy in the video the image might not have been very clear and they might have thought it wont help the public to ID the culprit. Because of the clear image in the video public were able to ID the culprits.Victor wrote:Wonder why they haven't released video/photos of the guy planting the bomb. A distinctive white hat worn backwards would be enought to link the planter with the clearer photos. They should have released those videos/photos taken by the cctv across the street. There's absolutely no reason not to and it would close a circle that's wide open right now. Now father is going to speak from Dagestan. He's going to accuse the FBI for sure.

Possible that elder brother made some arrangement to protect younger one and that may be posing challenges to law enforcements.
Another possibility is that the story will show younger one killing himself or of his own doing rather than law enforcement taking him, a 19 year old, down. Remains to be seen.

Re: Bomb explosion in Boston
So the brothers Tsarnaev are
Tamerlan Tsarnaev
Dzhokar Tsarnaev
"Tamerlan" we already know as Timur the lame, the grandfather of Babar I believe.
"Dzhokar" is pronounced as "Jauher". Incidentally, "Jauher" is the Hindi/Rajasthanvi term for the mass suicide the womenfolk used to commit when a Rajput fort was sacked and the battle lost. It was a mass sati to avoid becoming the "right hand possessions" of the faithfool. I wonder if the name is glorified in that manner for that reason, like "Tamerlan".

Good observation and very true. I was wondering how these people just moved to US from wherever to make a better life. That would be almost impossible for any of our Indian citizens.Singha wrote:there are also bunches of people with no passport but some kind of "refugee papers" from war torn regions...some asylum seekers who know how to game the system etc. I had gone to the JFK Federal building in boston once for some visa matter and every slick Paki roaming there was accompanied by slick willie kind of sharp gora lawyer. these lawyers have made a lot of money off doubtful immigration cases.

Swamy G..just wanted to reiterate from that link (was about to post the same):
Another article that gives more info is here:
Why are Police Scanners Accessible
Vested interests are surely learning to use social media in a crafty way. It would be better to be ahead in these circumstances at least by understanding why this happened.
There are many groups at the international level that would want to equate the Dharmic adherent with terror. The Sunil case is more serious than the Middle eastern ones..the Sunil one was quoted reportedly as named suspect by the Police on their scanners while a live 26/11 kind event is on!The only problem is that there is no mention of Sunil Tripathi in the audio preceding Hughes' tweet. I've listened to it a dozen times and there's nothing there even remotely resembling Tripathi's name. I've embedded the audio from 2:35 to 2:45 am for your own inspection. Multiple groups of people have been crowdsourcing logs of the police scanner chatter and none of them have found a reference to Tripathi, either. It's just not there.
Could some people have heard the name, but somehow that did not make it into the canonical recording at Broadcastify? I don't think one can rule anything out with this story, but it seems, at least, unlikely. (No other recordings have turned up from this time period in which Tripathi's name is mentioned.)
Yet the information was spreading like crazy. Seven minutes after Hughes' tweet, Kevin Michael (@KallMeG), a cameraman for the Hartford, Connecticut CBS affiliate, tweeted, "BPD scanner has identified the names : Suspect 1: Mike Mulugeta Suspect 2: Sunil Tripathi. #Boston #MIT." More media people started to pick things up around then, BuzzFeed's Andrew Kaczynski most quickly. His original tweet has since been deleted but retweets of it began before midnight and reached far and wide. At 12am, @YourAnonNews, Anonymous' main Twitter account tweeted, "Police on scanner identify the names of #BostonMarathon suspects in gunfight, Suspect 1: Mike Mulugeta. Suspect 2: Sunil Tripathi."
The informational cascade was fully on. @YourAnonNews' tweet was retweeted more than 3,000 times. We don't know how far Hughes's, Kaczynski's, or Michael's tweets went because they've been deleted. Hundreds of references to their tweets remain on Twitter.
By this time, there was a full-on frenzy as thousand upon thousands of tweets poured out, many celebrating new media's victory in trouncing old media. It was all so shockingly new and the pitch was so high and it was so late at night on one of the craziest days in memory. That Redditors might have identified the bomber hours before anyone but law enforcement seemed like amazing redemption for people who'd supported Reddit's crowdsourcing efforts.
----
In the aftermath, I kept coming back to the moment when the fevered detective work of a subreddit broke out into a national story within minutes. Where had that authority come from? How had so many people bought in so fast?
The key moment is clearly at 2:43am when Hughes tweeted that the police scanner had mentioned these two names as suspects.
------------
A few things are for sure: the scanner chatter never mentioned the two false suspects together. The scanner chatter never mentioned them as suspects, either. The scanner chatter recordings contain no record of any mention. And no one has been able to produce any recording of the scanner mentioning Tripathi.
This presents us with a strange mystery that I wish I could fully solve, but I can't.
Perhaps this is some kind of hoax perpetrated by some unknown group.

How could the second one outrun the cops in the chase stay out of bounds for this long inspite of the alert. By killing the first one, they have to get this one alive to elicit info out of him. ....Not a good sign for Boston police.

I think we at times underestimate our Intelligence. The Boston cops despite HD images of the known suspects broadcast the names of the Chechyans ONLY after the shootout killed the elder brother and his ID spilled out. Till then the world was being fed Mulugeta and Tripathi with not one clarification!

Re: Bomb explosion in Boston
Or perhaps an order from the other alphabet agencies not to let the truth out (even if the younger one is captured or dead) in the hopes that any helping individuals/groups trying to contact his cell or send indirect coded message on twitter? Whats the big deal if the search goes on for a day or two? Just a thought IMO.Paul wrote:How could the second one outrun the cops in the chase stay out of bounds for this long inspite of the alert.
