I think this calls for an apology from Obama and another $2.34 bn in military and non-military aid to Pakistan. Further, the apology should also explicitly mention the accidental killing of Osama by the US military while looking for something called "restraint" in Abbotabad.

12 dead, dozens more injured after two explosions rock Boston marathon finish line
A federal law-enforcement source told The Post there are at least 12 dead and twice as many injured. Fox News reported that Massachusetts General Hospital was treating 10 people with amputated limbs and all operating rooms were on hold.

Bad news. Confirmation from Fox news. 3 dead. 10 amputated....

Explosions near finish line at Boston Marathon

DEVELOPING: At least three people are dead and dozens injured - including up to 10 with amputated limbs - after two explosions rocked the area near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The simultaneous explosions, and reports of at least one other unexploded device found near the scene - raised suspicions that the explosions, just before 3 p.m., could be terrorist attacks. Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the bloody chaos, while some witnesses reported seeing victims with lost limbs.

12 dead seems to be the official count so far. If twice as many injured than it's probably going to increase.

Was told (not confirmed in the news)... Boston police has defused a few (?) devices... (so there are more than 2 bombs planted).... Also there were ball bearings etc.. so these are supposed to be caused injuries.. these are timed multiple explosion so police is certain that this is terrorist attack...

(NY City is on high alert)

There will be a press conference in about 15 minutes.. will know more..

^^^Ramana - two more devices defused, according to fox..

The number of dead, according to BPD is still 2 (possibly 3)... many in serious conditions, at mass hospital so toll may be higher.. but may be not ... we have to wait and see.

Has to be video records. There must have been thousands of people in crowd. High time USA cuts off doles and military aid to center of international terrorism.

This is, according to Library director, not an explosion but unrelated electric fire... hope this is correct.)
(The Kennedy School has been evacuated as a precaution. Students, staff gathered outside.)

Added later: BPD confirms of the third explosion.

BPD is confirming that devices which exploded were bombs.

Here is one map of the area..

Bomb explosions in Boston

Blasts near Boston Marathon kill 2; injury toll rising

http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/15/us/boston ... ?hpt=hp_t1

(CNN) -- Blasts near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killed two people and injured more than 20 others Monday, Boston police said.
"It felt like a huge cannon," a witness told CNN about one of the blasts.
The marathon itself, on its Facebook page, referred to the blasts as bombs. Authorities did not say immediately what caused the explosions.
Massachusetts General Hospital said it was treating 19 injured people; Tufts Medical Center reported that it was treating nine people. Combined, that brings the number of injured to at least 28. Police reported 22 people injured.
The explosions sent smoke billowing into the air at Copley Square, turning a site of celebration into a mess of destruction.
Crowds had gathered in the area to watch the runners.
Out of an abundance of caution, the Lenox Hotel was evacuated, the Boston Globe reported, as authorities looked into possible security concerns.
"We are currently in contact with federal, state and city officials," Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick wrote on Twitter.
Other cities, including New York and Washington, tightened security as a result. Following standard protocol, the White House cleared out an area in front of the West Wing.
"If you see something, say something," Mark Boughton, mayor of Canbury, Connecticut, wrote on Twitter. "All cities will be on a heightened state of alertness per Homeland Security protocols."
Mike Baingon, who works at the Atlantic Fish Company in Boston, said an explosion took place in front of the restaurant and that he was right by the front door at the time.
The explosions occurred at about 2:45 p.m., more than two hours after the first of the race's nearly 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line, CNN Producer Matt Frucci reported.
The race was halted as was subway service into the area.
Runners east of Massachusetts Avenue were directed to Boston Common; those west of Massachusetts Avenue were directed to Kenmore Square, the state's emergency management agency said.
Troops from the Massachusetts National Guard were assisting police as well.

I don't see why homegrown groups would go after a marathon. They would go after federal government or other law enforcement types. This has Paki written all over it, IMHO.

Even though the actual toll might be small, this will sent shockwaves through the whole country because people travel there from all over for the marathon.
