Pakistani caught with fake cards
Immigration officials arrested a Pakistani national at Suvarnabhumi airport on Saturday with eight credit cards and US$2,000 in counterfeit banknotes.

Muhamad Shafique, 25, was arrested after authorities searched him while he was at Exit 4 in the arrivals area of the airport.

They found four CitiBank credit cards and another four issued by Barclays Bank, and four US$500 bills and arrested him after verifying that all were counterfeit, said Pol Col Vitoon Deecho of the Suvarnabhumi Immigration office.

Mr Shafique had flown into Thailand from Islamabad on Pakistan International Airlines flight PK 892, according to police.

He told officers that he was a tourist and denied that the credit cards and the banknotes belonged to him. A friend in Pakistan had asked him to carry them to a cousin in Bangkok, he added.

The police were unconvinced and suspected him of using fake credit cards in Thailand during the long holiday.

Mr Shafique was charged with possessing counterfeit money and credit cards.

Bottled water causing cancer, heart disease in Pakistan

Around 12 brands of bottled water sold in Pakistan contain arsenic, which can cause skin diseases, diabetes, kidney problems, hypertension, heart disease, birth defects and cancer, a Pakistani agency has found.

The Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources collected 86 samples from bottled water brands from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dera Ismail Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Tandojam, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar, the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) reported.

Comparison of analytical findings with the permissible limits of the Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority revealed that 27 brands were unsafe due to chemical or microbiological contamination.

The report said 12 brands contained high levels of arsenic, whereas 10 contained microbiological contamination that may cause cholera, diarrhoea, dysentery, hepatitis and typhoid.

The remaining brands had high levels of sodium, potassium or fluoride.

:(( :(( yevil baniya is blocking the rivers with 100,000 dams built illegally and bious zamzam sold in bottles by momeens seems to caise heart trouble to rapes what should they drink now? :(( :(( :((

Even worse, koophar yindoos are doing potty and susu in the rivers flowing into Pakistan.
Hence the heart disease and cancer.

Note: Nobody in Pakistan gets diarrhea from drinking the susu-potty infested water.
Hmm now I know why Pakistanis were getting upset with the design of India's dams in J&K. India used the work "Flushing" (in drawdown flushing) to describe the cleaning of the dams.

Pakistan has always taken a pricipled stand in condoming the susu-potty water of the Indians. However due to leaks, the pious have been having birth defects, which is misfortunately blamed on cousin marriages.

Guys, here is some update on Daimer Bhasha dam.

http://tribune.com.pk/story/579754/diamer-bhasha-dam-govt-seeks-adb-financing-to-kick-start-project-again/

Diamer Bhasha Dam: Govt seeks ADB financing to kick-start project, again

ISLAMABAD:

As the $14 billion strategically important Diamer Bhasha Dam remains stuck due to reluctance of international financiers, Pakistan has again requested the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to release funds for the much-delayed project.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar made the request in a meeting with ADB’s Country Director Werner Liepach here on Saturday.

Dar said the new government was working on various initiatives to jump-start the economy and “looks forward to ADB’s assistance for the construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam”, according to an official handout released by the Ministry of Finance.

Liepach was said to be supportive of the project and said the ADB was willing to work with Pakistan in designing a “workable model for the implementation of the project”.

An earlier move by the ADB to bring the World Bank on board for co-financing the project backfired when the WB insisted that the ADB first seek a no-objection certificate from India – a condition that has delayed the project. Delhi believes that the project site is in a disputed territory.

India should keep up the pressure. Should not allow this dam to be built.

Compared to initial estimates of $11.2 billion, the revised cost of Diamer Bhasha Dam is touching $14 billion and construction work is yet to start. Lately, Japan has come forward with a $4 billion package for purchase of machinery, but still the lead financier is missing.

HAHAHAHA.. Japan will have to issue a denial again!!

Sunday, September 16, 2012:

Code: Select all

http://www.thenews.com.pk/Todays-News-2-132228-Japan-denies-it-made-4-bn-offer-for-Bhasha-dam

Japan denies it made $4 bn offer for Bhasha dam

ISLAMABAD: It has now been confirmed that the Senate Committee on Water and Power was misinformed by the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) when it was told that Japan had agreed to provide $4 billion for the Bhasha dam as Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has denied it officially.

The impression that Japan has taken the lead by agreeing to provide funds of $4 billion for machinery and equipments including turbines for the much touted Diamer-Bhahsa dam was given by EAD officials but a JICA spokesman told The News that Tokyo had not given such a nod to Pakistan. The controversy over Japan funding the Bhasha dam emerged when a senior EAD official informed the Senate Committee meeting that Japan had come forward and agreed to help install the electro-mechanical system of the dam which includes the 12 power turbines, each with a capacity of 375MW and to this effect it would provide $4 billion credit line.

Liepach expressed the hope that Pakistan would increase its share in projects, thus the ADB could assist in participating in a larger number of projects.

How? Where is the money? By taking another loan from IMF?

One thing that should bother the Pakistanis is the Morsi ouster in Egypt and the support from most members of the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council). Countries like KSA, Kuwait and UAE have pledged USD 12 B and a large portion of that would be available by next week to the Egyptian government obviating its need to go to the IMF. Where does it leave Pakistan ? Why are these ummah countries with which the 'Fortress of Islam' has 'brotherly' (and 'sisterly') relations not helping Pakistan ? Why does Pakistan have to go repeatedly to the IMF and face the ignominy ? After all, Nawaz Sharif is rumoured to be close to the Saudi Royalty, isn't he ? Questions are bound to be asked. KSA, UAE and Kuwait are bound to answer them.

Sridhar saar,

Have some pity on pakis saar . If they are that intelligent, they wouldn't have become a failed state.

Couple of years ago, globalecco org published an article on Lashkar-e-Taiba. Pakis spend a woppy $50 million/year on LeT. That makes it more than a $1 billion for the past two and a half decades.

If we add in funds for incidental expenditures, one can estimate that the Mumbai terrorist attack may have cost the LeT around $200,000 USD. When compared with LeT's overall annual budget (probably in the $50 million or more range)

The Financing of Lashkar-e-Taiba

All the 3 letter terror organization + infrastructure and Afghan Taliban would have easily cost 10s of billions of dollars. And they are financing this when their economy is in doldrums. To make matters worse, they are taking more loans to finance their Army, nuclear weapons and Terror infrastructure. But, nothing to fix the economy. :D

Pakis (a.k.a Hindu converts) are worse than USSR. Atleast they invested in their military to fight wars, though they lost the cold war. They have a decent Military-industrial complex to be proud about. But, these pakis are in deep schit. Nobody will save pakis (i.e GCC, US,UK,China, etc)

Shiv saar is not around, but what he said remains TRUE. Pakis can be saved by only one country in the whole world, that is India. But, thank God these rabid pakis are hostile to us.

US agrees to extradite imprisoned Pakistani woman

The US has offered Islamabad an agreement in which both sides will release each other’s inmates. The US government agreed to send back Siddiqui after finalizing the deal.

The terms of the deal demand that Pakistan accept the ruling of a US court, in which Siddiqui was convicted on terror-related charges.

Pakistan banega Talibanistan progress report:

http://tribune.com.pk/story/579655/k-p- ... -relative/

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Clerics in parts of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa have issued a temporary ban on the shopping of women unless they’re accompanied by a male relative.

District police official Fazal Hanif told Reuters that the ban, which was announced over mosque loudspeakers in the Karak district on Friday, is being supported by the police.

According to the new law, women found alone in the marketplace are to be arrested and shopkeepers entertaining such women punished.

One trader said he feared the ban would affect business and damage the region’s reputation.

“We never supported this ban and [have] convened a meeting on Wednesday to protest over the clerics’ decision,” Munawar Khan, one of the merchants in the region, told Reuters.

The mosque announcements said the ban was intended to stop men from being distracted during sacred period of Ramazan. The annual period of fasting and prayer falls in July this year.

Here is a surprising bit of news, if it is indeed true.

http://www.nation.com.pk/pakistan-news- ... xtradition

Basically, the article claims that the US has agreed to extradite Aafia Siddiqui to Pakistan, where she will serve out the remainder of her sentence. Is there anything to confirm it? Are the Pakistanis (as usual) smoking some of their neighbours' finest, or are the Americans doing it?

Women in Karak barred from leaving home without 'mehram'

A committee of local clerics (ulema) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Karak district banned the entry in markets of women who are not accompanied by a 'mehram' (close male family member).
women roaming in the city bazaars (markets) without male members of their family were a source of spreading vulgarity
...especially in the holy month of Ramazan
women (without a mehram) were also involved in theft and robberies
unaccompanied women in bazaars was not only against local Pakhtun culture but also against religious norms
committee also requested local shopkeepers not to sell goods to women who are shopping alone in bazaars

What does Im the Dim have to say about this diktat? His party after all won the recent elections in KPK.

Pakistan on Monday summoned Syrian envoy and conveyed concern over a recent attack on a holy shrine near Damascus, the Foreign Ministry said.

Reports earlier suggested that a rocket strike near the revered shrine of Sayyeda Bibi Zainab’s (AS) on Friday had killed its custodian and cause partial damage to the tomb.

The shrine is a famous pilgrimage destination for Shiites from across the world and the attack also sparked protest rallies in Pakistan.

“The strongly condemns the deliberate and wanton attack on the holy sites including the recent attack on Sayyeda Bibi Zainab’s shrine on 19 July in Damascus” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Charge d’ Affairs of Syria in Islamabad was called at the Foreign Office to convey the concerns of the government and people of Pakistan on desecration of the holy shrine of Sayyeda Bibi Zainab, a statement said.

Pakistan called upon the Government of Syria to ensure safety and security of all holy shrines and buildings in Syria.

“The trend of desecration of the holy sites has hurt the sentiments of Muslims in Pakistan as indeed the world over. Such violations, which also fan sectarian strife, are most reprehensible,” it said.

Pakistan also called upon all parties to the conflict in Syria to observe international humanitarian law and help protect the common heritage of mankind respecting the sanctity of the holy buildings and places of worship.

Remarkable ! Here is a country where similar 'holy shrines' (Data Durbar, anyone ?) have been desecrated with impunity and repeatedly. And, it feigns outrage at an incident in a far away land and that too in a civil war aided and abetted by its 'friends'. It also talks about 'sectarian strife' there. This is really laughable. Pakistan has absolutely no shame and it believes that like itself, everybody is a fool. It has banned 'Ahmedis', it constantly exterminates bunches of them, it treats them as third class citizens, it was on the verge of declaring Shi'a as non-Muslims at one point of time, it kills Shi'a in large numbers every single day, it wants only Wahhabi/Deobandi school of thought to overwhelm everything else and it talks of 'sectarian strife' in far away Syria !!

No, it is the guy with an arm bandage at right extreme. he doesn't even make an attempt to look pious when everybody else is praying.

the shiite shrine attack might have been done by Pak Taliban. Pakistan government knowing its people certainly cannot rule out that possibility. Still it had the nerve to call Syrian envoy, whose government is trying to protect its minorities from Pakistani sponsored terrorists

Amazing ability of double speak from Pak government

There is no such English phrase that's all I know. May be in pakglish 'sentenced to death' is 'sustain to death' ?
