This was to be expected: the New York police going after the man who filmed Eric Garner's murder:

Man Behind Bars After Filming Eric Garner’s Murder Crowdfunds His Freedom

Quote:

Orta’s attorneys, who are representing him in four cases involving gun possession and drug sale charges, told TakePart that Orta will likely be released in five to 10 days, after the fund-raising website clears the bail money and it is transferred to his family. When he was arrested the month after he filmed Garner’s death for allegedly passing a gun to a 17-year-old girl, Orta told the local news he was “100 percent sure” that he was being framed by the police in retaliation for filing the incident. He denies the charges.
Choke Holds Are Prohibited, So Why Wasn't the Cop Charged for the Death of Eric Garner?

Kenneth Perry and William Aronin, who also represent Orta, allege the district attorney’s office has disseminated “demonstrably false” statements made by unnamed police officers that implicate Orta in crimes he didn’t commit, including rape. Transferring his case to Manhattan or another borough would give him a better shot at a fair trial, they told TakePart.

Kansas set to prevent poor from using aid for swimming pools, psychics

Quote:

The list of banned uses would not only include alcohol, tobacco, gambling and sexually oriented materials, but other entertainment, including *movie theaters* and *swimming pools*. Cash assistance couldn't be used in nail salons or spas, on cruise ships or at tattoo or body-piercing parlors. Also out: Any "psychic or fortune telling business."

"I just think we are simply saying to people, 'If you are asking for assistance in this state, you're sort of less than other people and we're going to tell you how and where to spend your money,'" Rep. Carolyn Bridges, a Wichita Democrat, said during the House's debate.

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2015/apr/0 ... g-pools-p/

My comment: I don't know about libraries but they certainly don't want people on income support to see movies in theaters or go to swimming pools in Kansas.

A good article on this:

Why is Kansas pursuing tougher welfare rules?

http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Society/20 ... ules-video

It seems to me that some people are hell-bent to stigmatize the poor, those with less opportunities in life. To me, it's about punishing those on income support.

May be a native will come last, who knows. The natives also need to close loopholes so criminals don't come in prepared, knowing fully well that it is not a crime if criminals - all types of rapists, pedophiles and so on - exploit loopholes. Everyone knows about it, except moral keepers and probably law makers.
New Law Utterly Fails To Protect Native American Women From Unbelievable Epidemic Of Rape
..
It allows tribal courts to prosecute non-Indian men for sexual violence against wives and girlfriends, but rapists who attack strangers will remain beyond the reach of the law.
..
Even worse, the law states that the tribes must have their own lawyers and judges, a costly requirement that some tribes simply can’t meet.
..
But if someone throws a stone in India at church, it makes it to international news even before investigations are done.

Another one Guilt And The Conservative Antipathy For American Indians
Conservatives like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Simone, Bryan Fischer, and their Congressional groupies spew offensive remarks and support policies that directly hurt American Indians. They have no interest in including American Indians in their perfect America. They don’t like to be reminded of the history of the American Indians in this country. Well, except for one Thursday in November, when they can trot out their little American Indian decorations and pretend the conquest never happened. As long as the Indians are viewed through the filter of having helped the Pilgrims.

POSITIVELY only! No beer for ya!

Another one link - dated Mar. 20, 2012
There are three reasons some Republicans are trying to block the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act: Gays, immigrants, and Native Americans.
..
But more than half of Native American women are married to non-Native American men, which means that when cases of abuse arise, the local tribal authorities can do very little because they don't have jurisdiction over non-tribe members.
The law is not reauthorized until it does! But a question arises how can this happen in America?

Right now the police department might be busy planning how to create some positive news for the guy who recorded that shooting.
I wonder if they will have time to carry out that murder investigation.

Opinion of resident experts on positive news is needed.
Should an SDRE be brave enough to videotape police in the land of the free and home of the brave?

Around NY, the about-turn country , you should do only this carefully and anonymously. The Eric Garner person is already being made an example. In general, the white person strategy is look away and get along. Anything else is asking for trouble.

Pretty soon there will be laws against this. Just like farms and slaughterhouses.

New York woman gets 20 years to life for killing son with salt

(Reuters) - A suburban New York mother who blogged about motherhood was sentenced by a judge to 20 years to life in prison on Wednesday for murdering her young son with a salt overdose so she could bask in social media attention about his mysterious illness.

Assistant District Attorney Doreen Lloyd described Garnett as a normal, healthy child whose illnesses were induced by his mother, who eventually killed him by putting a lethal amount of salt into the hospitalized boy's feeding tube, all the while blogging and posting pictures to Facebook.

"She continued to portray him as a sick child for her own bizarre need for attention. She used that feeding tube as a weapon to kill him," Lloyd said.

There is a serious breakdown of the LAW, not law-enforcement, in N. Charleston. They FAILED to make 'videotaping a police-commited murder' at least a misdemeanor. Just like 'driving with a broken taillight while being non-TFTA'. Then they could have pumped 16 bullets into this video-wielding terrist.

Note how the shooting is ***NOT SEEN*** on the police car's dashcam video record. There's real N. Charleston law enfaujment 4 u.

This will have major ramifications for police work. I can foresee Blacks and other citizens carrying out souveillance (sou-under, beneath and veillance-monitoring) of police so that their actions in public space are recorded 24/7.

Which may well require new laws prohibiting such activity.

every black and hispanic and poor white in USA need to get themselves a body camera and dashboard cam without fail. on second thoughts indics too.

here is todays atrocity. in the land of the free - caliphornia itself..just by luck a news helicopter had latched to the chase and recorded it, not that it stopped the man getting kicked to an inch of his life, but he might get some compensation now.

these things must be happening all the time for decades...just that everyone having a cellphone cam and youtube have changed the game.

video here
http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local ... wt_LABrand

In the two minutes after the man was stunned with a Taser, it appeared deputies kicked him 17 times, punched him 37 times and struck him with batons four times. Thirteen blows appeared to be to the head. The allegedly stolen horse stood idly nearby.

Once again the US proves its credentials by pleading for the lives of convicted mass murderers...because unless you have Preet Bharara/Wolf Blitzen/Bill O'Reilly standards of fair trial and justice, it is just not real American Justice (TM).

http://indianexpress.com/article/world/ ... execution/
She said countries that impose a death penalty “must do so with great care, in accordance with a very high standard of due process and respect for fair trial guarantees.”
American justice is whiter than the purest driven snow and more just than something that is awesomely just, so makes total sense of the US SD to demand that mass murderers be allowed to live, so that he can work for the US once Khaleda Zia and her paki cronies are reseated back in power down the line.

Of course, as for Osama Bin Laden and others of his ilk, he was convicted by CNN, NBC and ABC, which is of course, "the highest standard of due process and a guarantee of fair trial", so nothing less than a bullet in his head by a US marine can be considered true justice. USA! USA! USA! USA!

Police in the land of the free, home of the brave are trained to kill/maim. And from the positive news we have been reading here, these police do stay true to that fantastic training, regardless of the situation or consequences. Kudos to the police training academies.
Hence, we should not be surprised when such police don't aid those whom they have shot without any need.
The Amrikhan public at the receiving end certainly isn't.
From that article
The Rev. Thomas Dixon, an African American community organizer in North Charleston, says many black residents are so conditioned to expect mistreatment that some black leaders were not surprised when Slager did not appear to offer Scott assistance after shooting him.

"In our community, we expect that kind of behavior," Dixon said.
If you are an optimist, you will note that only some black leaders were not surprised. This means there is urgent need for more positive news in that community. And with Officer Slager gone, who is going to create it now?

One more gem from that article
South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy does not provide first aid training during the 12-week program, the academy said, but Slager's personnel file shows he was trained in first aid and CPR.
Looks like the esteemed TFTA Criminal Justice Academy has its priorities in the right place.

All now explained: Why American Police Use the TASER so frequently:
They can't tell difference between Taser and MachineGun.
The shooting was an apparent accident, it has said.
The reserve deputy thought he had his Taser in hand, not his firearm, and shot Harris "inadvertently," according to the sheriff's office.
Evidently they don't train them as well as the Marines used to train:
This my Taser, this is my Gun
This is for Fighting Self-Defence, this is for Fun
Now Mr. Harris cannot testify about who else from the Police Dept Russian Mafia was involved in the gun trade, hain?
This was clearly Self-Defence. After he was lying face down, the Officers felt threatened because his left arm was not behind his back, and they couldn't tell whether he was scratching his balls or reaching for his Gun to fire backwards from face-down position. Like MGR used to do routinely. Seems perfectly logical to me....

This one is so screwed up I am not even sure I get this. What I do get is that here again the police managed to totally botch up a murder investigation and two innocent people (African Americans of course) were locked up for many years. The ineptitude is spectacular!

Ballistics tests are new twist in costly L.A. murder saga

On a March morning in 1994, two homicide detectives and a Los Angeles Times reporter stood on the roof of a South L.A. brothel, bullets and spent shells at their feet.

The detectives were investigating the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man who was killed during an apparent robbery the night before.

Los Angeles police Det. Pete Razanskas bent down and picked up six rounds. But instead of bagging them as evidence, he handed them to the reporter, Miles Corwin, as souvenirs.

The spent rounds from the roof were kept in a closet in the reporter's home as two men were convicted in the killing. The men spent more than 15 years in prison until a judge threw out their convictions.

Now, ballistics tests conducted by lawyers for one of the men suggest that the spent rounds came from the weapon that was possibly used to kill Felipe Gonzales Angeles and could have helped identify the real killer.

The USA is such a great country, where even the average guy has MGR level shooting skills, and even little little children speak an english-like language. It is no wonder they want to provide guns to school students to defend themselves. Sounds like a highly dangerous place.

Absolutely no idea. Never tried GoFundMe.

I did take a look at the atrocities going on in PACER -- evidence is not just being redacted but entirely sealed.

And you bet your ass the ACLU, EFF et al wont touch it with a six foot pole. There hasnt been a single retweet. It doesnt even appear in hashtags for wonderful twitter policies let alone trend.

Few Reasons I feel why America should choose Hillary this time .
( This supposedly is an unbiased view of an outsider ).
Reason1 - Obama was disappointment as people felt this was first person who is outside close-knit all white-men club . She might be first to break the glass ceiling and bring different perspective. This may have bearing on foreign policy. Their current foreign policy as you know is not winning them friends anywhere.
Reason 2 - 2nd amendment actually part related to gun laws which sounds ridiculous to us non Americans . She may be able to make a dent . Wishful thinking maybe ?
Reason 3 - China's rise. She may have courage where other's did not and take bull by it horns. It may be inevitable that China will rise to pre-emminent power someday but American import hungry retail industry will have it's final say. If they are smart they would spread their eggs build some sourcing in Africa and India not just suck up to East Asia which is China's back yard anyway and is already coming back to hound them with their own Bretton Wood's style AIIB.
Reason 4 :- Stop this unnecessary obsession with former communist countries like Cuba and Russia. They are Frenemies at best . Same goes for Iran ( Classical Persia not Islamic version). Hillary being a women may see inevitability of taking on Islamism and the evil that it poses to humanity. For this she may realize that all great powers P5 + Rest of Brics + Germany , Italy, Spain have to unite and fight the common enemy which is Islamofacism . I hope she has courage to realize that unfortunately Obama did not.

Phillip,

Hillary would be "positive neuj" for the american public! I certainly dont wish them ill!. She will be massively bad neuj for india too. And the only chance at something half decent is if she loses the primary. But she my implode on herself and do everyone a favor. Hillary is not the people's left wing candidate you are reading her as.

Rarely does the same party hold the white house a third term. But the field this time will be the cookiest in past thirty years -- rand paul, marco rubio, jeb bush. All are bad neuj for US and India. There isnt any sane candidate. EVeryone including hillary is a Sarah Palin in a wig.

It is really really sad state. Voting will probably fall to 50% again and the next senate/house/white house are all a very scary prospect.

The 73-year-old "reserve cop" who mistook his gun for a Taser shot and killed an unarmed black man. He has not been charged with a crime.

For $2,500 (one time payment onlee) you can kill one unarmed Black Men in United States of America.

Wait Wait, there is more positiveness here.
As the black man lay dying, he screamed "I cant breathe, he shot me, I didnt do nothing". So a benevolent white cop gently offers "****** your breath", while continuing to have his knee on the man about to see jeebus.
I cant imagine a human being doing this to another, but wait murican is exceptional. No ordinary human being, must be sooperhuman. Die blackie, should never have run from the cops, atleast you would not have died tired.

^ the knee of the burly police officer seems to be on the dying man's head..perhaps to help him along to the afterlife.
looks like wealthy enthusiasts are buying there way in to get access to all the cop gear and priviledges.
a 73 yr old man should not be attempting this kind of operation at all when younger lads are available.

a kid would not mistake this . the weight diff alone would be substantial... and trigger is high up in the taser

Prosecutors in Tulsa, Okla., on Monday filed homicide charges against a 73-year-old Sheriff’s Department volunteer who fatally shot a suspect on April 2, apparently firing his handgun instead of a Taser by accident as other officers were subduing the man on the ground.

The volunteer, Robert C. Bates, was charged with second-degree manslaughter involving culpable negligence, punishable by up to four years in prison.

Mr. Bates, an insurance broker, had been a reserve deputy since 2008. He is among scores of civilian police enthusiasts, including wealthy donors to law enforcement, some of whom effectively act as an armed adjunct to the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Department.
