Looking at the Thread on islamic state and how it has an easy time recruiting people online. GoI could actively use sting operations to draw out islamists so the govt. can get to those that are easy prey and also to create doubts in the minds of future recruits as to whether online recruiters are trustworthy or not. Raises the barrier for these ISIS recruiters to find people online.

It will have to be a brand new design note made of a different material and with enhanced security features. Expect a new wave of terrorism when this happens as it will be like a punch to the gut to the Pakistan Army.

India on alert over possible attack by Bangladesh-based Hizb ut-Tahrir: Report
http://bdnews24.com/neighbours/2016/01/ ... rir-report
Bangladesh-based Islamist organisation Hizb ut-Tahrir (HuT) may launch a series of terror attacks throughout India before the Republic Day, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has warned, according to reports.

IB detectives reportedly intercepted phone calls on Jan 15 from a Bangladeshi mobile-phone number.

The IB recorded the phrase "doctor medicine lekar jayega" while intercepting the calls twice on last Friday, ‘The Times of India’ reported.

The alert, sent to all state police chiefs on last Monday, says HuT is planning to carry out terror strikes at 23 locations across India, including Gurdaspur and Pathankot, where an attack on an air base left seven Indian military personnel nearly three weeks ago.

"The group is planning bomb and suicide attacks on January 23," it reads, according to ToI.

"In view of this, the field staff must be sensitised to take all necessary preventive and precautionary measures including review and strengthening of security of Army, Air Force, BSF and other vital installations," ToI added from the alert.

Two terror suspects have been arrested in Karnataka, two in Hyderabad and 1 from Mumbai. The NIA is reportedly also looking for five more suspects in Hyderabad.

Sources said the people arrested today are not believed to be part of a single module or connected to each other. There were also unconfirmed reports that explosives were recovered from Tolichowki area of Hyderabad.

Some of those arrested are students while the others are employees in various companies.

All of them had been under surveillance for over six months now and the arrests were made amid indications that an ISIS network is coming up across the country, sources said.

Security agencies want to prevent a Paris-style attack, where the terrorists were under surveillance and yet managed to strike. ISIS gunmen had attacked Paris in November, killing 130 people in a cafe, rock concert and other public places.

At a recent security review chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, officials concluded there is a "very real" ISIS threat for Republic Day, when French President Francois Hollande will officiate as chief guest at the parade in the capital.

Yesterday, a letter, reportedly mailed from Chennai and warning against President Hollande's visit, was delivered to the French consulate in Bengaluru earlier this month.

On Wednesday, four men were arrested from Uttarakhand for alleged links to the ISIS. They had been under surveillance for visiting ISIS propagandist sites.

The men arrested yesterday were allegedly planning to attack the ongoing Kumbh Mela at Haridwar in Uttar Pradesh, trains headed there, as well as strategic locations in the national capital, the police said.
The police have warned that they were part of a bigger group. "The national capital faces threat until the entire module is busted," a police officer said.

It's really simple, the piskology of Indian muslims. They see the Hindus as dhimmis, not martial or violent enough. They have tasted political power & wield powerful influences in the state government. The media is hand in glove with these 'secular' politicians who are hardcore Islamist apologists & appeasers. The Muslim youth first cut a goat's throat, they see themselves as martial and manly, next they then cut a Cow and stomp their authority over Hindus. When they see the Hindus do not retaliate or are not allowed to retaliate, the next target are Hindu women who are groomed for sex or gang raped as a sport by packs of Muslim youth who have repressed sexual energy that they can only release on daughters of dhimmis - where they can expect no retaliation and no punishment. It has become a sport for them.

The thing is that UP's Hindus have it in them to hit these Muslims really really really hard. They are not drunk of secular kool aid like their fellow Hindus in Bengal. Question is why is this not happening? Have they given up? Or has the population of Muslims in UP tipped over to a point where violent retaliation not a viable option? I don't think either of these is correct. The next explanation is that Muslims have been armed heavily by Saudi money and local Hindu leaders know that (in Muzaffarnagar riots, Muslims used AK-47s to gun Hindus down) and are arming themselves and waiting for the right time to strike.

Communal tension in Golibar area after youth dies in a brawl
Thursday, 31 December 2015 - 12:29pm IST | Deven Lad | Edited by: Prutha Bhosle

Trouble ensued outside Nirmal Nagar Police Station located in Santacruz East, after Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Sarmalkar along with party members started a protest, today.
The party members are seeking justice for 26-year-old Vikas Kamble, a resident of Santacruz's Golibar area, who died yesterday, after being beaten up by a group of 8 men, nearly 10 days ago.

On December 21, Vikas Kamble was beaten up by 8 unknown persons, in the area, after which he was immediately hospitalised. Ten days later, on December 30, Vikas succumbed to his injuries. The police has so far managed to arrest only 3 men involved in the crime.

Shiv Sena leader Shrikant Sarmalkar along with party members barged into the police station today, demanding justice in the case. The leader has also announced to close down entire Golibar area, until justice is served to Vikas Kamble.

Sources stated that the unknown persons belonged to another community. Vikas's friend, on condition of anonymity, said, "Along with Vikas, his two other friends were also beaten up. They are admitted in the hospital too. The police must to arrest all the culprits at the earliest."

Alert issued after Pathankot taxi driver found dead
The Delhi Police on Friday issued an alert after a taxi driver alleged hijacked by three unidentified people from Pathankot in Punjab was found dead in Himachal Pradesh.

Through its official Twitter handle, the Delhi Police released photographs of three suspects and the details of a Maruti Alto car, bearing registration number HP 01D2440, which was hired by them on January 20.

Taxi driver Vijay Kumar was later found dead at the Kalta bridge in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, a police officer said. Kumar was the resident of Gaggal in Kangra.
Investigating agencies said that the vehicle, which was registered with any travel agency, is missing.
Security agencies relate the incident similar to the Pathankot Indian Air Force (IAF) base attack in which a taxi driver Ikagar Singh was hired and killed by Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist hours before their terror strike.
"People should not panic as security agencies and Delhi Police are doing their best... The message is to just alert people. Citizens should inform the police control room if they observe any suspicious activity," Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajan Bhagat said.
The Delhi Police issued the alert a week before French President Francois Hollande is set to arrive in India to be the chief guest at the Republic Day celebrations in the national capital.
The security agencies are into tizzy following the raids by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) across the nation in search of suspected IS terrorists.
The NIA in coordination with different state police teams have arrested twelve suspected terrorists from different places including Karnataka, Hyderabad and Mumbai, sources said.
The Delhi Police have already made India Gate and Rajpath out of bounds for vehicles and tourists. This year, police closed movement of vehicles on Rajpath early in the wake of numerous intelligence reports about possible terror attacks.
“The security has already been increased all across the capital. We do not want to leave any loophole. We are not allowing anyone to enter India Gate and park their cars near it. The tourists and Delhi residents are not being allowing to stand on the road near India Gate for long,” said a senior police officer.
The officer said that the crowded places, malls, railway stations and bus depots are kept under tight security cover.
"Extra paramilitary forces have already been deployed in the city with sniffer dogs and Delhi Police Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) following the terror threat."
The Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested four suspected IS terrorist from Uttarakhand when they were planning to attack in Delhi, National Capital Region (NCR) and the ongoing Ardh Kumbh in Haridwar.
Central intelligence agencies said the four had been under surveillance for several months after their online activities drew suspicion, including contacts with people in territory in Iraq and Syria controlled by the IS group.

Looks like 3 folks from Pathankot hired a taxi, killed the driver and probably in Delhi. Hope they are caught before they want to be pardoned by our Awardwapsi gangs.

Terror suspects sneak into Vizag from Odisha

Andhra Pradesh additional director general of police Law and Order R.P. Thakur said, “Based on inputs from Odisha police we caught them at Nakkapalli gate and shifted them to Vishaka-patnam. We are verifying the terror links if any. We haven’t found any explosives with them so far.”

They also told cops that they were coming from Hyderabad but it was found that they were coming from Bhubaneswar.

Police verified the car number and it was found to be a car rented from a travel agency in Delhi. They told the travel agent they were using it for local touring but they drove to Bhubaneswar.

A senior police official said, “All of them arrived at Delhi from other countries on different dates. Some of them have come from Bangladesh. We are now talking to Iran Embassy to verify the passports authenticity.”

Odisha police alerted AP police that suspected anti-national elements have passed the Palasa gate in Andhra Pradesh at 4 pm on Wednesday.

Odisha Inspector General (Crime Branch) Arun Bothra said, “Concrete inputs have been obtained about the entry of four terrorists who came to book two rooms in a hotel near Master Canteen Square on Monday evening and fled the place when the hotel authorities and a sub-inspector present at the reception suspected their movement. The Ford Icon car in which they had come has been located in Visakhapatnam.”

At around 9 pm on Wednesday, four persons who introduced themselves as citizens of Iraq came in a Ford Icon car bearing a Delhi registration number — DL4C 9645 and wanted to check into Hotel Arya Mahal.

The rent for two rooms was finalised at `5,000. When the hotel authorities asked for their identity cards, they could not produce any and said they had their passports in the vehicle. They went to their car parked at a distance and sped away.

Suspecting their activities, the hotel authorities immediately informed the police which swung into action. A plain-clothes police sub-inspector, who arrived at the hotel reception for checking the guest list, suspected the activities of them and asked for their passports. They left the hotel reception to get the passports from the vehicle. However, instead of returning to the reception with the passports they sped away. On another front, the helium-filled balloon that was shot down by an IAF Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter over Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on Tuesday had flown in from Pakistan and was apparently an advertising balloon with “no payload”, though it may have been a ploy to test India’s operational preparedness, top government sources said Wednesday.

Terror suspects turn out to be tourists - The Hindu
Five Iranians who were intercepted at an Andhra Pradesh border toll gate on Wednesday evening after an alert from the Odisha police on suspicion they could be terrorists turned out to be mere tourists. . . . “We have checked their passport and visas and also inquired with the immigration authorities. They will be resuming their tour shortly,” Superintendent of Police Koya Praveen said on Thursday.
Two questions. If they had the passport & visa, why did they run away when documents were demanded? What about the car which had a fake Delhi registration?

Church street blast cracked, prime accused arrested: NIA - The Hindu
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has claimed to have cracked the 2014 Church Street blast case and announced that Alam Jeb Afridi alias Javed Rafeeq (30), who was arrested by NIA and Telangana ATS recently confessed to the crime.

Afridi was the same suspect who stabbed a Telangana ATS constable Srinivasa, resisting arrest at Doddanagamangala, Parappana Agrahara. While the Telangana ATS and NIA, had picked him up in connection with the Ahmedabad 2008 blasts, he confessed to the Church Street blast in custody, NIA sources claimed. The agency also claimed that the target was a Israeli delegation that was purported to visit Coconut Grove restaurant, that day.

Afridi, NIA sleuths claimed, is a Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) cadre and was an accused in a case for organising SIMI meetings in Waghamon, Kerala, and was declared an absconder with a Rs. 3 lakh bounty on his head for at least five years now. He was close to several top SIMI leaders.

He had been residing in the city for more than three years as a AC mechanic and planted the bomb at Coconut grove, Church Street on December 28, 2014, killing a woman and injuring several others. This was him acting on the instructions of his handler, NIA said. However, the NIA sleuths are not forthcoming on the details of this handler. NIA sleuths are also not commenting on whether Afridi acted alone or if there was a larger group in the conspiracy.

NIA sleuths said that Afridi also carried out the Israeli Visa centre attack in Ulsoor in November 2015.
I would suspect Afridi to be an IM cadre shifting allegiance to IS.

Rape attempt foiled in Kolkata Municipal Corporation ward office

TNN | Jan 25, 2016, 11.56 PM IST

Kolkata: Memories of the Park Street gang rape rushed back for a few nervous moments for Kolkata Police on Sunday night when a young woman complained she had been kidnapped by three men from AJC Bose Road and taken to a KMC ward office where they tried to rape her.
Unlike the Park Street rape case, Shakespeare Sarani police took quick action and arrested three suspects, one of whom is a KMC security guard of the ward 63 office, Md Taufiq. Police have registered a case of kidnapping and criminal conspiracy and sent a lady officer to the survivor's home to record an FIR and statement. Police say Taufiq, 37, is the main conspirator and the others - Shah Alam, 30, and Md Sainul, 45 - are his friends.
According to police, a 20-year-old from Topsia area had gone scouting for a house in Mullickbazar after arguing with her family that she wanted to live on her own. "Around 9pm, on AJC Bose Road, she realized two persons were following her. They promised to show her a room that suits her budget and took her to the first floor office of KMC ward 63 on 9/1 AJC Bose Road," said an investigating officer. A third person joined them there. They confined her to the room and tried to get her to drink liquor, says the FIR. Then, they tried to force themselves on her, the woman says.
The woman resisted and screamed for help. Luckily, some locals heard her and rushed into the KMC office. They cornered the trio and called the police helpline - 100 - at 1.15am. Shakespeare Sarani OC Arun Kumar De personally led the team that responded to the distress call. A police team escorted the survivor home and a lady officer was sent on Monday to take her statement. The arrested trio were produced in court, said DC-south Murlidhar Sharma. "We have contacted KMC to know if the accused guard was on their payroll. We will also find out how his friends got access to the building at night. Medical tests show all three were drunk," said an investigator.
Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said the guard was on contract and the firm he works for has been showcaused. "We will take action," he promised, adding vigil will be stepped up at all KMC offices. "We will run a review and see if offices need to be left open after dark. We will seek details of all guards and whether any of them has a police record," the mayor said.
Police will take the three suspects to the KMC office to reconstruct the crime. Ward 63 councillor Sushmita Bhattacharya denied it was her office. "It is was neither a Trinamool office nor my main office. There is just one room allotted to me that was under lock and key. The room probably houses the health unit of the ward," said Bhattacharya.

What Kenyan thugs did then, SFI does now;- Veteran diplomat slapped over education meet
an. 29: As India's ambassador, T.P. Sreenivasan has survived a beating with rods, gunfire and a coup overseas. He would not have known it then but the Indian Foreign Service was preparing him for his toughest assignment yet: retired life in Kerala, the picturesque state that is also home to an endangered brand of revolutionaries. This morning, the septuagenarian diplomat found himself being shoved around and slapped with such force that he staggered and fell on the road in Kovalam, known for its beach and located on the outskirts of the capital, Thiruvananthapuram. The assaulters were activists of the SFI, the CPM's student wing that opposes intolerance everywhere but not always in its own pocket boroughs. The activists were protesting against a global education summit, organised partly by a council headed by Sreenivasan, on the ground that the real objective of the programme was to privatise higher education in the state.
Sreenivasan, who became the face of India's public diplomacy and mass outreach in the US after the nuclear tests in 1998, is no stranger to violence. In December 1995, when Sreenivasan was high commissioner in Kenya, armed attackers entered his official residence and assaulted him amid a spurt in violence against foreign diplomats - especially from the Indian subcontinent. The attackers pinned Sreenivasan and his wife down, fired at the ceiling, and then thrashed the diplomat with iron rods - leaving him with a fractured leg.The SFI's skills were not as honed as the Kenyan rod-wielders. Sreenivasan did not suffer any bruises today."The fact that they will respond to a policy disagreement through such violence is what is really disturbing and sad," Sreenivasan told The Telegraph. "They had clearly made up their mind to attack me, and they did."
He had returned to Kerala after 37 years in the Indian Foreign Service. A 1967-batch IFS officer, Sreenivasan served as the permanent representative of India to the UN, governor for India at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ambassador to Austria and Slovenia and deputy chief of mission in the Indian embassy in Washington. After the 1998 nuclear tests when sanctions were imposed on India, it was Sreenivasan who appeared on public platforms in the US to put forth the country's views. Articulate and persuasive, he pursued the issue later at the IAEA.His wide experience on the international stage prompted the Congress-led state government to persuade him to join the Kerala State Higher Education Council as the executive vice-chairman.A group of SFI activists had converged on the road leading to the convention centre and turned restive as Sreenivasan reached the spot. "When we saw the students blocking the way near the venue, police told me to walk through them as the car couldn't go through," Sreenivasan said. "I did, but the police had clearly not understood the intentions of the protesters."
According to Sreenivasan, one of the protesters yelled out his name as he left his car. Seconds later, a protester slapped him and the 71-year-old fell on the road. The SFI apologised but accused the veteran diplomat of "deliberately creating trouble", pointing out that chief minister Oommen Chandy and other ministers had chosen to skip the education meet. Chandy had cancelled all his programmes during the day because of the solar scandal. "Sreenivasan deliberately created trouble by arriving there, virtually challenging the protesters," the SFI said in the statement. "What happened next should never have happened. We express our apology for that.''The diplomat said he wasn't trying to challenge the students, merely trying to get to the venue, which he eventually did, attending the day's discussions after briefly stopping at a friend's home for an examination by a doctor.Curiously, Pinarayi Vijayan, politburo member and an aspirant for chief minister if the Left wins the summer Assembly elections, found no reason to condemn the incident. Vijayan was quoted as saying Sreenivasan was not an education expert and he was appointed to privatise higher education.
"Sreenivasan said the attack appeared to be "deliberate". "I could hear them shouting my name... The objective of this meet is only to improve the quality of our educational system. The world is witnessing revolutionary changes in the educational sector. Why should Kerala alone be like a frog in the well?" he asked. "Just as the Marxist party had objected to computers when they were introduced, they are now opposing the meet."Eleven SFI activists were arrested. The person who slapped Sreenivasan has been identified as Sarath, a district-level functionary of the student body, and is said to be absconding.Allegations surfaced that the police remained mere spectators - a charge that video footage seemed to substantiate.Official sources said the police department had decided to act tough and sent a sub-inspector and three constables for "one-year repeat training to the police academy" instead of the usual transfer or suspension for a limited period.
