This is very common in Bengal. This would not make front page news.
Bengal politics is extremely violent. That is why you get all or none election verdicts.
well she needs a trip to raqqa or mosul to see how enlightened societies work at ground level.
or how about idlib, hear it's wonderful place with lots of tourists deciding to make it their home. how about east ghouta where moderately enlightened Free Syrians practice target shooting.
These Nivedita Menon types are products of a system. The seeds of this were sown with the hiring of marxist profs in the 60s/70s. Over the course of time, they have morphed into an even more poisonous vermin.
They are now competing with the more communal leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Laloo Yadav, Mayawati or Owaisi and so need to find themselves new identities.
Their hold on academics needs to be broken. Else we will continue to have jokers like Ayesha Kidwai, Nivedita Menon and KM Chenoy etc peddling their snake oil.
Ten years of not hiring these jokers should do it. But the BJP itself goes around seeking good conduct certificates so I dont have high hopes.
I dont see anything educational in Nivedita Menons clip from a lecture..
what stops JNUs students from filing a case of hate speech against her ? Shes actually inciting hatred against Hinduism. One must question what part of syllabus is she teaching.
ABVP would do well to take smart action by filing such cases rather than getting into sloganeering matches with qtiya communists. And yes, burning pages of manusmriti is just not cool.
Has any professor made such remarks about Islam, the religion of peacefuls ?
^^^^ With the appeasing and contrarian view spouting useful idiots growing in number each day, the competition to get noticed for enjoying the perks of being a member of the 'intellectual and chai-biskoot circuit in foreign shores" is very intense. So these turds are desperate and make more and more anti-hindu and anti-national comments. The foreign NGO's and embassies must be having a hard time in keeping a track of and making their choices for recruiting from these self-hating indians.
The strategy against Nivedita Menon should be the same as against MF Hussain. About 900 cases were filed against Hussain in various places and he had to flee. Menon is inciting hatred against a community and should face the same fate. Hope someone out there is going to do the needful.
Glorifying terrorism is a specific offence in all Western academic institutions. University student bodies and the faculties now have to show that they are not promoting extremism or activity that can be beneficial to terrorism eg in the UK, the PREVENT strategy legally mandated.
France is even more rigid in this regard after the evenements of the 1960's. Look at the case of the comedien, Dieudienne who was jailed for insulting and slandering the office of the President.
For those who have access to Google Scholar, it would be interesting to know the citation metrics of the JNU academics and to determine their intellectual output. I have tried to compute an H-index for Prof Nivedita Menon, based on some of the Thompson, Lexis-nexus references but haven't had much luck, presumably because many of her articles appear in low to no impact factor periodicals or Journals that are unrecogized.
What is clear is that India's thinkers, intellectuals and academics of the JNU persuasion would struggle to get a credit card reference in any other part of the world.
Nivedita Menon and others of her ilk come from a tradition of Indian leftism whose singular contribution has been to re-apply Marx and Gramsci and create the whole field of subaltern studies. As the summary below points out, it is an Indian innovation that professors of social sciences and humanities be stridently political instead of being apolitical as western academics have generally been. However, that is changing as over the last 25 years, large numbers of such Indian social scientists and humanities profs have descended into western academic institutions and fundamentally changed them as well (all of these letter writing campaigns with 100+ such profs demonstrate the extent of the infiltration). Many American profs are ow similarly radicalized as the behavior of that Melissa Click showed in the whole Ole Miss black lives matter thing last fall showed. Sub altern has now spread to all disciplines, especially african american studies, chicano studies, feminism, queer-lgbt, now transgender etc. This summary traces the history of such work and is quite interesting. One can see where the Pollocks and Donigers came from; ironically, from some of these leftist Indian thinkers.
Its a 15-minute video of Satyapal Singh (who is former Mumbai CP, SIT chief on Ishart case and now BJP MP) in Loksabha. It proves that Khangress gives a damn to political fair game and rule of law. I say its a must watch speech.
Congress leader told me to trap Narendra Modi in Ishrat case: Satyapal Singh

Not a task doable by humans. There are tens of thousands of such people. India also needs to do what the NSA does: giant data centers that trawl the web, use machine learning to make connections, fill databases and issue red flags when hash buckets start filling up

Emergency at Kakrapar nuclear plant in Gujarat after major water leak
Employees were isolated for hours but no exposure to radiation
Reactor was shut down safely and will take 24 hours to cool
New Delhi: An emergency has been declared within the nuclear plant at Kakrapar in Gujarat after a major heavy water leak in a nuclear reactor. No worker has been exposed to radiation, said officials, adding that the employees remained sequestered till their shift ended, which is standard operating procedure for a crisis.
The workers were allowed to go home after they had been counted and accounted for as officials checked to ensure that no radioactivity was reported outside the plant.
IN the wake of student protests at Jadavpur University here against the arrest of JNU students in Delhi for alleged sedition, the Kolkata police is asking all colleges in the city to give details of their students who are from Jammu and Kashmir.A note from the police, a copy of which has been obtained by The Indian Express, is addressed to the principal of the college and reads: “Please let me know that students, whose residential addresses is under the State of Jammu & Kashmir, studies in your Institution for onwards transmission to the Ministry of Home Affairs, North Block, New Delhi, Govt. of India.”Senior police officers said that the request for these details had come from Central intelligence agencies which got the Special Branch of Kolkata police to get the details. “It’s an attempt to create dossiers on J&K students so that we can monitor their activities,” said a top police officer. “This is really something new we are doing for the first time.”When contacted, a Union Home Ministry spokesman told The Indian Express: “Following the JNU controversy, the Centre had sensitised all states to take adequate precautionary measures to avoid a repeat of such incidents, and a general advisory was issued to all states.”

Why do the "victims" of these self-soosai incidents always seem to be RoP?
Sachin wrote:On the murder of BJP activist at Mysore. The Chindu seems to have covered it. Off course hiding the true reasons and upholding "secularism".
There have recently been a series of murders of BJP leaders/cadres in various parts of the country, in Kerala, Chattisgarh, Mysore. The series of murders of 5 prominent BJP/Hindu Munnani leaders in TN still remains unsolved.

not always.
Anyway - all political parties, if they have any wish to have clout in Bengal have to have very good muscle-power and fire-power at their beck and call. Lots and lots of small time goons are known as haath-kaata [nick-name]...(hand-less.....)
A top Home Ministry official, on Tuesday, said that National Security Advisor of Pakistan Naseer Khan Janjua's inputs over infiltration of terrorist were correct.
He said that 3 of the ten terrorists were "neutralised" three days ago.
Plan to attack Somnath temple
The official said that they were not in a position to share any further information about the three killed terrorists as verification process was still on. He also said that the terrorists planned to strike the famous Somnath temple on the coast of Gujarat, ahead of Maha Shivratri celebrations last week.
"There are seven more, whom we have to track. The terrorists could belong to a third country as well," said the official.
Mr. Janjua had tipped off his counterpart Ajit Doval that they had information about ten terrorists, belonging to either Lashkar-e-Toiba or Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).
^^Just like SULFA (Surrendered ULFA) was kept mobilized against ULFA in Asom (and the kukka parey types in J&K), guess these surrendered naxals can be pressed into service in JNU. Enroll them in some PhD program in counter-insurgency or something and let these battle hardened vets come face to face with the likes of kanhaiya, anirban, khalid and other poseurs I say...

10 terrorists who entered from Pak have been tracked down. Security forces eliminate at least 3 out of 10 terrorists: Sources
which is a bit confusing.
And notice the absolvement of Pakistan has already started. Acknowledging the tip off and the 3rd country part? Looks like a half truth mixed in with the press release
what makes you say that; Right now, I only take the input that 3 are getting their 72. Beyond that, I believe the paper embellishes with stuff the official may or may not have said. It's the Chindu after all
Why in the world would Pakistan NSA give info. about terrorists infiltration off Guj coast. There is definitely something that doesn't meets the eye. A country which hid Osama right under its Army camp from US for 10 long years suddenly got change of heart. I am stumped.
It is Pakistans last chance, basically. From the world. For now. They know it. And they do want those F-16s. Now they are giving terrorists to us instead of Amirkhan. That's all. Now ten instead of 1 Al Qaeda number three.
Do I have to explain why? Ok I'll spell it out. All together now: one Paki terrorist to Amirkhan is equal to 10 Paki terrorists to India.

+1. Same here.
Tomorrow, I half-expect the Pak NSA to give info that some x terrorshits have stolen a dirty bum and have sneaked into India. See, we warned you no? So if the bum goes off in Dilli or mumbai or BLR tomorrow, don't blame us. Rather, we'll join in the Rudaali-nautanki and commiseration... onlee.
