NIA hints at link of 40 netas with terror module
In their report to NIA DG Sharad Kumar, sleuths hinted at the involvement of at least 40 politicians helped these terrorists gain a foothold in Bengal. National security advisor Ajit Doval, who met chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday, is said to have briefed the home minister that JMB terrorists had a diabolical plan of slipping into India and marrying local girls to get local identities and mask their terror activities.

Mini-ISIS in West Bengal: New jihad strategy is to hold territory and recruit globally
The detention of a former Google employee in Hyderabad for allegedly wanting to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the discovery of an Islamic terrorist module in West Bengal (and lately in Assam), and the announcement of a new South Asia-focused (which means India) al-Qaeda wing in September all fit into a new sinister jihadi narrative that India and the world cannot ignore anymore. The Burdwan blasts tell us how unprepared we are for this new threat.
Despite alleged differences between various fundamentalist groups like ISIS, al-Qaeda or Boko Haram in Nigeria, they are all united on one issue: that the world must be ruled by Islam. Which brand of Islam must prevail will be settled later – equally murderously
First, all the jihadi groups are clear that they can - and must - hold territory in order to create a viable economic base for their violent movements. Just as the Taliban used Afghanistan under Mullah Omar to build an Islamic state and gain official access to resources which can be used to acquire arms and critical training to target the west, the various fundamentalist groups are planning the same in multiple places. What was once a localised threat in one state is now mushrooming in multiple places
Apart from having an economic base to run their jihadi operations from, what the holding of territory will enable ultimately is limited recognition as proper states. Given the amount of money invested in jihadi groups by states like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iran and others, how unthinkable is it that the new fledgling caliphates will finally be recognised by the Islamic world? Once you are recognised by some states, it means you get legitimate access to arms, bank accounts, etc. A renegade state, even if recognised by a few other states, will acquire the ability to create many death weapons - including chemical weapons.
Second, in keeping with the new aim of winning and holding territory, all the jihadi groups – from ISIS to al-Qaeda to others – have adopted the multinational corporation (MNC) strategy of seeking global talent and recruitment to man their new terror networks.
This is exactly what ISIS is hoping to achieve. It has created gory brochures of its accomplishments and its propaganda literature has started appearing in many countries, including Pakistan and India. ISIS flags have been hoisted in Kashmir and even Hyderabad. ISIS already runs TV stations in the territories it controls in Iraq and Syria, and uses the internet and social media extensively to find global recruits. This is how the ex-Google employee appears to have been enticed by ISIS.

A global recruitment plan means two things: more rabid jihadis, and more potential CEOs for local jihad. Cut off from their traditional cultures, these recruits will be more rabid than people recruited locally from Iraq and Syria. The new convert is always more radical than the old ones. It is not without reason that the author of the recent beheadings by ISIS is said to be a British jihadi. If martyred, these multinational recruits will be used to attract more recruits; if they survive and become battle-hardened, they will be sent back to their original recruitment zones to motivate others and create jihadi cells locally. This is why we have to worry about both who may join ISIS, and those who may return.

A portion of the public park in the market area called "Gandhi Park" is now a Mosque. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/tamil-nadu/death-penalty-to-tn-fishermen-rail-link-to-rameswaram-cutoff/article6549007.ece
Rail link to Rameswaram Island has been cut off after angry mob pulled off railway tracks for nearly 900 metres between Rameswaram and Pamban following a court in Sri Lanka awarding death sentence to five fishermen from Ramanathapuram on charge of smuggling narcotics.

Three express trains that were scheduled to leave Rameswaram after 5 p.m. on Thursday have been rescheduled for Friday, the Railway Divisional Manager, A.K. Rastogi, said.

Mr. Rastogi said that the elastic rail clips fastening the rails with sleepers have been removed and the rails thrown away at Thangachimadam. “It will take at least four hours for us to restore the tracks. However, the work could be started only after the police give us clearance (on law and order front),” he added.

Railway Protection Force personnel, who were on special duty at the local railway stations, in view of Muthuramalinga Thevar jayanthi, have been rushed to Rameswaram to provide additional security to the stations, the RPF Divisional Security Commissioner, P. Sankar Kutty, said.

As a result of damage to the tracks, all the three express trains stranded at Rameswaram have been rescheduled to leave on Friday, provided the restoration works are over.

Rameswaram-Chennai Express scheduled to leave at 5 p.m. on Thursday has been rescheduled to leave at 10 a.m. on Friday, the Sethu Express has been scheduled to leave at 8 p.m. has been rescheduled to leave at 11 a.m. and the Rameswaram-Kanyakumari Express scheduled to leave at 8.45 p.m. at 12 noon on Friday.

The Madurai-Rameswaram passenger train scheduled to leave at 8 p.m. has been cancelled.

With no bus services, the rail passengers have to wait at the station till the rail services are restored. “We have made arrangement for food and water at the station,” the DRM said.

The last train to leave Rameswaram was the passenger train to Madurai that left at 4. p.m. railway sources said.

Meanwhile, the passenger services between Madurai and Rameswaram have been partially cancelled between Manamadurai and Rameswaram, he added.

Meanwhile, a mob set on fire a bus. Reports reaching here indicated that the situation is tense.

Mumbai, Oct 30 (Mid-day) : The local tailor who was arrested for the ruthless rape and murder of a 12-year-old in Baiganwadi, Govandi, has shown no signs of remorse for his crime, Shivaji Nagar police revealed. In fact, in an act of perversion, the accused was in the first row amongst those attending the victim’s funeral, silently watching as she was interred in the ground.

The accused, identified as Qasim Yusuf Khan, was very calm while he confessed to the police that after he murdered the girl, he attempted sexual intercourse with the body. He admitted that he performed several sexual acts before he decided to dispose the body. Khan, a tailor, then rolled the victim in a mat and stitched the ends shut to ensure that no one could get a peek at her inside.

He waited till 3 am, and then dumped her in a garbage container where she was found the next morning. The police said Khan is a married man, and has a daughter. A few days before the incident, his daughter and wife had gone to visit their hometown, Siddharth Nagar, in Uttar Pradesh. On the day the victim went missing, he was alone in his shop, which is just a few metres away from her house.

According to Khan’s statement, the girl had come to the shop asking him to repair her wallet. He said she was irritating him, and in anger, he had hit her. Worried that people would find out, he killed her. However, sources in the police have said that his version is hard to believe, as he systematically abducted, raped and then murdered her.
Khan added that before killing the victim, he had tried to rape her, but when she shouted, he panicked and gagged and strangled her. The police said they now have enough evidence to convict him for the heinous crime.

Part of protest group

Cops added that Khan had come across as diabolical, and when local residents had launched a protest outside the police station earlier, to demand speedy justice, he was amongst the protestors as well, demanding that the culprit be caught.
Last evening, a large crowd gathered outside the police station yet again, demanding that the cops hand over the accused to them so they could get justice themselves. The police managed to disperse the crowd eventually.

Additional Commissioner of Police Chering Borge said, “Khan has been charged with kidnapping, rape, murder and destruction of evidence. He has also been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He has been remanded to police custody till November 5.”

Love in the time of jihad: NIA investigations reveal startling facts in Burdwan blasts
Terror and love can live happily together if the revelations thrown up by the National Investigation Agency into the Burdwan blasts are any indication.

During the course of investigation, the NIA has so far discovered 13 Jihadi couples who were part of proscribed terrorist organisation JMB's (Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh) grand dream of establishing an Islamic state in Bangladesh and three West Bengal districts of Malda, Nadia and Murshidabad.

Investigations have revealed that to put their plan into practice, top JMB leaders in Bangladesh had instructed their cadres involved in India operation to target young females belonging to low socioeconomic background and marry them. This would enable them to acquire Indian identity and documents and the women could be used as a cover too.

According to NIA sources, 13 women from West Bengal got married to JMB cadres, and were involved in imparting dangerous jihadi indoctrination and training at the Simulia madarsa in Burdwan and Mukimnagar madarsa in Murshidabad. They also actively participated in spreading jihadi philosophy.

The findings allege that Fatima, wife of absconding chief of Burdwan module, Sajid and three others, Ayesha wife of Yusuf Sheikh, Moina wife of Talha Sheikh and Saira who was married to Suman alias Sadik were the four lead trainers at the two madarsas.

The rest of the nine women, including arrested Alima, again married to JMB cadres, were undergoing training at different levels to be incorporated as trainers after completion of their training.

The training included gun and arrow shooting, physical training, bomb making, delivery of jehadi talk and to show the plight of Muslims through videos to woo young minds.

At least four of the absconding JMB cadres – Sajid, Talha Sheikh, Nasirullah and Kausar, on whom NIA has announced a reward of Rs. 10 lakh each, are suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals. Their wives Fatima, Moina, Samina and Muzura are also on the run.

The identity of rest of the JMB activists so far indicates that they are Indian nationals but it is yet to be established whether their parents were inflitrators or original inhabitants

NIA Raids Burdwan Blast Accused's House in Assam

GUWAHATI: Natinal Investigation Agency sleuths have searched the house of Sahanur Alom alias Doctor, an absconding accused in the Burdwan blast case, at Chatala in Barpeta district of Assam, an investigating agency official said on Tuesday.

A seven-member NIA team from Guwahati seized some material after a 6-hour-long search of the house on Monday, he said.

"We seized whatever was found in two cartons. The investigation is on. We'll analyse it in our Guwahati office. We cannot say anything at present," he said.

The seized articles included some documents, Arabian coins, bank passbooks and money collection receipt books of Talimul Madrassa of West Bengal, he said.

Alom is absconding and NIA has recently declared Rs 5 lakh reward for anyone giving information leading to his arrest.

The key accused of the October-2 blast that left two dead gave a slip to the West Bengal Police as well as the NIA and is believed to have fled to Bangladesh.

NIA traces most of the calls in three states
KOLKATA: After investigating the Khagraghar blast for nearly two weeks, the NIA has opened a new avenue which can change the entire perspective of the probe. Unearthing several calls to Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir, the NIA investigators have zeroed in on Wadala West, a pentagonal two kilometre slum in Mumbai from where numerous calls were made to and from Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad and other parts of the country.

...
The entire spree of calls caught the NIA's notice after analysis of one of Shakil's phones recovered from the blast site. It was found that more than 23 SIM cards and international calling cards were used in that single phone. Investigators unearthed the calls made to different states and abroad on analysing the phone's details through EMI number.

Previously, NIA investigators also learnt that a radical Islamist organization — Revival of Islamic Heritage (RIH) — may have been responsible for funding different terror modules operating in the state. The sleuths have also identified at least three organisations and some people in Metiabruz and Chattabazar areas who might have received funding from this overseas organisation through the Hawala channel. Furthermore, the investigators also found that RIH, apparently an Islamic religious organization, receives most of its funds from an undercover pan Islamic organization - Equalin Muslimin.

INS Khukri ,INS Sumitra called back due to operational reasons. Connected with the Kolkata terror alert. Something serious related to Al-Keeda.
Two Navy warships, which were scheduled to be berthed at Khidderpore dock here till November 7 for public visits, were today withdrawn to the sea for undisclosed 'operational reasons,' a Defence Ministry official said.

The recall of warships INS Khukri and INS Sumitra came in the backdrop of an alert by central intelligence agencies to the Kolkata police about the possibility of a terror attack in the city, especially in the port area.

Same thing had happened in northern districts of Kerala (mainly Kasaragod) twice. NDF and SDPI folks took out rallies wearing uniforms similar to Pakistani Army. The police took an excuse first time. That the organisers of the rallies made a genuine mistake and the community elders had promised NOT to repeat such things. Last year too the same thing happened. I don't think any strong action was taken by the police force of Kerala.

Let the sarkari maulvies in madarassas and masjids educate the followers about the treatment of mojahirs in Pakistan and the genocide committed by them in Bangladesh, Baluchistan etc, "education" works.

It is not nice to see these boys wearing Pakistani team costumes and dancing.

But let me be accused of being anti-national or pseudosecular myself and ask a lot of questions
  • 1. Why would these boys wear Pakistan team clothes and be seen in public?
Ans: It is an obvious taunt. It is designed to cause a reaction from other Indians - especially Hindus.
  • 2. Would these boys all have collectively gone and bought these costumes from the local "Shopper's Stop"?
Unlikely. I am sure tailors can make costumes from all nations and someone has paid for these boys wear these clothes for the occasion
  • 3. These boys risk being beaten up. Are they doing this because they want to be beaten up? Or are they trying to prove that Hindus are cowards?
It is unlikely that boys want to be beaten up. They have been instigated by someone and someone has paid for these boys to taunt someone else.
  • 4. Are these boys Muslim boys?
The obvious answer is "Of course. No nationalist Indian would do that. Only Muslims support Pakistan. Everyone knows this" Of course everyone knows this. So if I, as a Hindu leader (eg a Psec leader) want to create the scene for a riot, I would pay for boys to dress up in this way and dance, and make sure they are photographed and not beaten up. So could this photo be a taunt to have some Muslims thrashed within an inch of their lives?
  • 5. This image is designed to cause the reaction "Maaro saalon ko". Who would want Muslims to be bashed up by Hindus when Modi is in power? Only Pakis? Anti National Muslims? Congress cadres? Samajwadi party? BSP? Commies? IMO any of these could be responsible
If I was a Congress or SP leader, nothing would give me more pleasure than "Nationalist BJP supporters" getting angry and automatically targeting Muslims. Nothing better than that to regain power.

Moral of story: Be careful. Let the intel and security agencies deal with this.

BJP should just stay away from commenting on the internal/national security matters as a policy. Leave all the commenting/shommening and action taking to the central govt. After all it is their own government.
