Madrassas dens of gays, ban them: AMU professor
ALIGARH: An Aligarh Muslim University professor's alleged comments on madrassas that they are "dens of vice and homosexuality" has triggered a storm of protest in the campus.

The professor, Waseem Raja of the university's history department, has been accused of saying in a WhatsApp message that he sent to a TV channel that "maulanas are involved in such activities" and that the fortunes of Muslim youth will only change for the better if madrassas in the country are banned.

Chat grabs show Raja saying, "We want removal of madarsa... Where homo sexuality is rampant...Maulanas are part of it".

The professor, who has been teaching in AMU for the past three decades, has, however, denied he said any such thing. "I did not say anything like that," he told TOI on Tuesday. "I have been part of SAARC conferences in the past and I have always spoken about reformation of the community. Are madarsas not part of the community? That does not mean I said such things, my phone was hacked and I have blocked the chat group now."

But students have taken to social media to condemn Raja's remarks. Shah Alam Turk, a research scholar, said, "I was chatting on the group when Raja popped saying such things -- his personal views. I messaged him saying 'You have constitutional rights to express (your views), but don't defame (madrassas) without verifying facts first. This is prejudice, not logic, and will weaken the community, not strengthen."

Other students hit back equally hard. One of them said: "People like you spoil the name of the university. God has given you reason, so think before speaking."

Mustafa Zaidi, AMUTA secretary, said the professor should have "calculated" what to say. "Such statements can be misconstrued and can result in anger," he said, adding, "If he said so in the first place."

Rashid Shaz, director of AMU Bridge Course that deals with madrassa students, condemned Raja's views and said, "Students of madrassas are very cultured and have standards of morality. One should show evidence before questioning them en masse."

AMU PRO Rahat Abrar said course of action against the professor will be decided only when the VC returns. "VC is away, decision will be taken only when he returns," he said.
I believe this is true of puki and arab madrassas too. Can somebody please provide links to any such articles about other madrassas so we can buttress the facts.

Yemen man pleads guilty to al Qaeda scheme to kill U.S. military

A Yemeni man who prosecutors said was a member of al Qaeda and engaged in attacks against U.S. military forces stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan pleaded guilty on Tuesday to conspiring to kill Americans overseas.

.....

Prosecutors have said that al-Abbadi fought against U.S. military forces in Iraq between 2003 and 2007, before traveling with Al-Hamidi to Pakistan in 2008 to train and fight with al Qaeda.

In mid-2008, al-Abbadi and al-Hamidi traveled from Pakistan to separate parts of Afghanistan to conduct attacks against the U.S. military, prosecutors said.

Al-Abbadi led at least two separate attacks against U.S. forces in Pakistan's Paktya province, including one in May 2008 in which a U.S. Army Ranger died and several others were wounded, prosecutors said.

Shariah-compliant rape - Victims forced to recite from Quran during rape
Suzan gave horrific accounts of daily rapes by the man’s bodyguards.

“They forced me to say things from the Quran during the time they did their actions, and if I didn’t they whipped me.”

On an occasion Suzan resisted, they burned her thigh with boiling water.

“They took us to one of the villages near Shingal. [Al-Russiyah] and his bodyguards were wounded when they fought against Kurdish soldiers. He died immediately and the guards also. That was when we fled.”

Some girls who ran back to ISIS because they were afraid. As Suzan said, “another girl who tried to escaped had her legs cut off.”

Austria Bans Foreign Funding for Islamic Groups (from Feb)
The Austrian parliament yesterday passed a law which bans foreign funding for Islamic organisations and demands that any group claiming to represent Austrian Muslims use a standardised German translation of the Quran, prompting major concern among the Austrian Muslim community.

The controversial reforms were added to an existing law that made Islam an official religion in Austria in 1912, and are partly aimed at tackling Islamist radicalism. However, while the law gives Muslims more legal security by protecting religious holidays and training for imams, it also bans foreign funding for mosques and for imams from countries such as Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

The law also requires Austria's 450 Muslim groups to demonstrate a "positive approach toward society and the state" to continue receiving official licensing. There are around 560,000 Muslims in Austria, approximately 7% of Austria's 8.6 million inhabitants....

...public broadcaster ORF reported that a recent poll showed that 58% of Austrians believed that "radicalization" of Muslims had increased and 41% feared terrorist attacks. It is estimated that around 200 people from Austria - including women and children - have gone to Syria and Iraq to join jihadist militias.

I think Shreeman pointed to this a few pages earlier -- making Islam an official language allows the government to set the standard for what Islam means and thus outlaw the original, bigoted vile, arabic version from taking hold and challenging the local constitution, as is happening in every country with a majority of the muslim crowd wanting Shariat to replace the local constitution according to Pew Global Research.

the chinese have already implemented the austrian model of 'control n measure' in great depth with their official licensed version of Islam. 100s of imams were also made to stand in parade and do tai-chi exercises to keep them fit and healthy.

this is perhaps the only way to control the vile poison and money that flows out of the oil sultanates to rest of muslims in the world.

"12 Melbourne women try to flee Australia to join ISIS"
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/worl ... 471487.cms
At least five young women from Australia have successfully joined the Islamic State and are among over a dozen similar cases from Melbourne most of whom have a "romanticised" view of the dreaded militants and want to become "jihadist brides", police said on Friday.

The women are said to be between 18 to 20 years of age, and had lied to their families about their intentions before leaving Australia.

Victoria Police assistance commissioner Tracy Linford said that while it was difficult to quantify the exact numbers involved, the state police knew of at least 12 such women who had tried to flee and at least five who had succeeded in joining the terror group.

Someone should investigate the bank accounts of the families of these women. These women are being sold. This whole business is just to entice more muslims to join the ISIS.

http://www.atheistrepublic.com/blog/cas ... nicornists
Unicorns Don't Kill People, People with Unicorns Kill People

Whenever I bring up the subject of the inherent harm that religion has brought upon humanity, it never fails that someone will say that it was all on the people who did those things and that it is wrong to blame religion. The problem with that logic is that it doesn't tell the whole story. You see, it is quite obvious that people will harm each other over anything and even nothing at all, but what is not so obvious is that in most cases a person needs a justification or rationalization for their actions. It doesn't matter if that justification is actually rational or not. It simply has to be there to calm our screaming conscience. If we can convince ourselves that our actions are justified then we are apt to do whatever we want.

This is where religion becomes the culprit, because religion has always been the ultimate justification for inhumanity. When the Jews wished to commit genocide against the Canaanites and others as they conquered ancient Mesopotamia, they simply told the people that doing so was the will of their god. And so Jewish men went in and murdered men, women and children, then returned home to sleep soundly in the conviction that the atrocious crimes they'd committed were not only justified but were actually condoned and prescribed by their god.

Now here we sit over 2,000 years later and nothing has changed. Muslims murder in the name of their god and point to the teachings of the Quran as a justification for it. Christians in Africa murder their own children and others, saying they are witches and point to the bible as a justification for this. As we speak, Israeli leaders try to find a way to justify the genocide of Palestinians and I have no doubt that many of them point to the Torah and Talmud as the perfect justification for doing just that.

From Turkey, where the wave of Islamism succeeded in overwhelming the secularists, and then promptly split into two factions vying for totalalitarian power to create a "perfect" state -

Turkish religious thinker ponders future of Islam
In an article on Dec. 28, Gultekin went beyond the Erdogan-Gulen acrimony and raised a more basic question: Why have Muslims failed so spectacularly for 1,400 years to establish just, prosperous and peaceful societies? In the article, Gultekin challenged those Muslims who fall back on the tired excuse of “but this isn’t real Islam” when confronted with extremist groups such as the Taliban, al-Qaeda and the Islamic State. “Which one is real Islam?” he asked, and lamented how “as people’s religiosity increased [in recent years], so have their sinfulness.”
“So, do you think ascending to power has stained the Islamist movement?” I asked. Gultekin corrected me, saying, “Gaining power has not stained Islamism — it has destroyed Islamism. Islamism has nothing to give to society anymore because Islamists have nothing left to say.”

Even if Islam gets rid of all the jihad and other extremisim, it can never be 'peaceful'.

Because the whole concept of One God, One prophet , One Book, Everyone must become like Arabs, etc. is inherently unstable. At best, Islam can become what Christianity is now ( and we know what the result of that is ).

"Staten Island woman accused of using soda can as weapon in N.J. pizzeria fight, report says"
A woman from Staten Island's Charleston section is accused of striking another woman with an unopened can of soda during a dispute in a pizzeria in Hoboken, N.J., according to a report by the Jersey Journal.

Police arrested Heather M. Kay, 25, of Jessica Lane, after they were summoned to the Hudson Place restaurant at 2:31 a.m. on Sunday, the Jersey Journal reported, citing information in police reports.

Officers on the scene found a 24-year-old woman bleeding from a gash on her face. She told cops she was arguing with a group when Ms. Kay struck her in the face with the beverage can, according to the Jersey Journal.

When questioned by officers, the police reports cited claim Ms. Kay replied: "When she tried to record me - I did what I had to do."

She faces charges of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the report

Dunno if this is a spoof - from 2006.
Always ask a stewardess for two unopened cans of soda. A full soda can thrown at someone’s temple can kill him. They can smash a terrorist’s nose, knee cap or head. If everyone throws a full soda can at a terrorist he can be stoned to death. A full soda can wrapped inside a blanket can be swung as a deadly mace.

ISIS bans pigeon breeding - punishable by public flogging - because seeing birds' genitals overhead offends Islam

Islamic extremists in Syria and Iraq have banned citizens breeding pigeons

Claim the sight of uncovered pigeons flying overhead is offensive to God

Also say that raising the birds wastes time that should be spent praying

Those who break the rules will face flogging, fines and even imprisonment

Earlier this year ISIS executed three boys they found breeding pigeons

We, the undersigned, are appalled to learn that the Law Society, the representative body for solicitors in England and Wales, has issued Sharia-related guidance on wills, succession and inheritance.....This scandalous guidance is similar to that which Universities UK published endorsing gender segregation at universities in Britain. UUK was promptly forced to withdraw its guidance after widespread condemnation.

We call on the Law Society to immediately and unequivocally withdraw its guidance.
