Buddhist, 10 Muslims Lashed in Indonesia’s Sharia-Ruled Aceh Province
https://www.benarnews.org/english/news/ ... 45108.html
A Buddhist man found guilty of physical intimacy outside marriage was among 11 people caned in public in Indonesia’s devoutly Muslim Aceh province on Thursday, more than a year after the local government vowed to move such punishments indoors.

The spectacle in the courtyard of the Baitusshalihin Mosque in provincial capital Banda Aceh drew hundreds of witnesses, including children. The public lashings occur nearly weekly throughout the province.

Rony Yokil, an ethnic Chinese Buddhist from neighboring North Sumatra province, was caned 27 times after the Aceh Sharia Court found him guilty of being intimate in a hotel room with his 20-year-old Muslim girlfriend, who also received 27 lashes. Their sentences were cut from 30 lashes because the couple, both in their 20s, had spent three months in detention.

Banda Aceh Mayor Aminullah Usman said Rony had chosen sharia punishment as an alternative to jail time or a fine of gold, making him the third Buddhist and eighth non-Muslim to be subjected to the law since it was introduced in 2014.

The others punished were four unmarried couples and a man who raped a minor. They received between eight and 33 lashes.

On Wednesday, two unmarried couples were lashed 100 times each in the northern Aceh city of Lhokseumawe after they were found guilty of premarital sex. A third man received 160 lashes for having sex with a minor.

Irshad goes on Kanwar Yatra with Hindu friends, Muslims say ‘against religion’, thrash him and his father
https://www.opindia.com/2019/08/irshad- ... is-father/

In a shocking incident, Muslim youth Irshad, a resident of Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh was beaten black and blue by his own community members after he had joined his Hindu friends for Kanwar Yatra.

Reportedly, Irshad had attended the Kanwar Yatra along with his Hindu friends. He had travelled to Haridwar and returned to a Lord Shiva temple in his village to offer the holy water he had brought from river Ganga. This was not the first time that Irshad had participated in such Kanwar yatras. The locals have confirmed that he has been taking part in Kanwar Yatra from a long time now.

As he returned back from Kanwar yatra to his village Badka of Baraut tehsil in Baghpat, he was allegedly beaten and his family was attacked by a group of people. On Wednesday night, a group of men reached Irshad’s house in Barka village and began assaulting him. When his father Ikramuddin tried to intervene, he was attacked as well. Both Irshad and his father have sustained severe injuries in the attack.

In-Laws Chop Off Woman’s Nose For Refusing To Withdraw Triple Talaq Case Against Husband
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/in-laws-c ... st-husband
A woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur has accused her in-laws of chopping off her nose for refusing to withdraw a case against her husband for giving Triple Talaq, ANI has reported.

As per the police, after the husband gave Triple Talaq to the woman, the two families tried to reconcile the couple via marriage counselling and when the efforts failed the police filed a complaint against the husband.

This reportedly angered the woman’s in-laws who are accused of first assaulting her and then chopping off her nose using a sharp weapon.

This is A/ Making threats to kill, B/Incitement to murder C/ Violent intimidation

All are serious criminal offences, however our government will not dare to confront them.

Mexico to deport U.S. citizen suspected of supporting 'violent jihad'
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mexi ... SKCN1V61UA
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican authorities arrested a U.S. citizen suspected of supporting militant Islamists in an example of Mexico’s security cooperation with the United States even as the two neighbors grapple with sharp disagreements over trade and migration.

The unidentified American man sought by Interpol was under investigation for supporting terrorist groups and will be deported to the United States later on Friday, the Mexico’s attorney general’s office said in a statement.

The man was detained at a migrants office near Mexico’s border with Guatemala in the town of Huehuetan with the help of officials from Mexico’s National Migration Institute.

The statement highlighted information from U.S. security officials stating that “the foreigner has probably expressed support for violent jihad and radical Islam on digital platforms.”

Mexican authorities did not disclose when the arrest was made or any other details of the man’s activities in the country.

The case comes as tens of thousands of mostly Central American migrants have been crossing through Mexico in an attempt to reach the United States, with President Donald Trump pressuring the Mexican government to do more to reduce the flow.

Once a paki always a paki

Why the US doesn’t have a Muslim problem, and Europe does
It’s not the influx of Muslims; rather, it’s Europe’s inability to welcome and assimilate immigrants. The resulting racial tension creates a perfect recipe for ISIS recruitment among disenfranchised young men. America is doing it right, and we cannot repeat the European model. :rotfl:
Then why is there no Hindu problem or Sikh or Jain problem in Europe?

Europe has little control (intentionally or unintentionally) over the "type" of Muslims it imports. The Muslims in the US are mostly RAPE types (and their counterparts from Arab lands) who are more interested in making money and only interested in helping terrorists as long as they are far away from home. The US can pick and choose them because it does not have a long land border (or a comparatively small water body) separating them from the middle east. They have the entire Atlantic ocean between them. Europe does not have that luxury. Suffice to say that if Mexico and Latin America were Islamic, they would have exactly the same issues as Europe does and no amount of "assimilating" would make any difference.

Europe was able to clearly keep away the Islamic radicals for quite some time in their history. I feel from around 1600 itself - even when Europe was smaller kingdoms, they had clearly managed to keep themselves intact with the Islamics (or Turks) etc. not getting a chance to mess up things. And even during the world wars etc Europe did not allow an Islamic group to meddle in their way of life. The problem seems to have started some time after the world wars and when European countries started giving away their colonies. My understanding is that Europe's problems started when they started getting rich & lazy and wanted cheap labour to support their Koi Hei kind of life style. They allowed all sorts of people from their old colonies to land up, and things went south from then on.

US of A was also a country which did not have a colony in any part of the world which had lots of peacefools. Where as UK had India & Pakistan, France had colonies like Algeria etc.

to add to your point, Britain cut a deal with Muslim league to form pakistan in exchange for the islamic mercenary army which would block soviets in afghanistan. This led to a lot of immigration of pakjabis in britain and EU. The rest as they say is history..

Keeping out Islamic armies is different from keeping out refugees and economic migrants. You can fight and kill soldiers trying to invade your land. You can't do that to migrants. Unless you are prepared to fence and mine all borders or shoot people trying to cross over and sink their boats, it is very difficult to keep them out. US faces the same problem on their southern border. Just look at how many illegal immigrants there are in the US and how many of their descendants. Now imagine they were all ill-educated Muslims from poor backgrounds instead of Latinos.

Pakistan fruit-seller asks Turkish biker to recite Kalima to prove she is Muslim, says Muslim women don’t wear ‘such clothes’
https://www.opindia.com/2019/08/pakista ... h-clothes/
This video serves as a reality-check about Pakistanis whose leaders have recently fallen over themselves to claim lofty principles of secularism while criticising India’s move to invalidate Article 370 as communal and against the Muslim majority in Jammu and Kashmir. The ideology espoused by the concerned Pakistani fruit seller unveils the hatred that an ordinary Pakistani harbour for non-Muslims simply because one’s faith is the not same as his.

The snippet also shows that women in Pakistani worldview are second-class citizens who have no right to wear an attire they are comfortable with and instead depend on the validation from men around them and comply with archaic medieval practices.

History revisited

Everywhere in chains

Why Islamic debates over slavery matter to everyone

FOR ANY system of belief that vests ultimate authority in the past, slavery is a big moral problem. That goes for all three of the monotheistic faiths, and even for civil creeds such as traditional American patriotism, which is now wrestling hard with the fact that human equality’s most eloquent advocates, the republic’s founders, were also slave-owners.

For several reasons, this dilemma is an acute one for Muslims, as emerges in a scholarly but digestible new book, “Slavery and Islam”, by Jonathan Brown, a professor at Georgetown University and himself a Muslim convert. He focuses on both theology and history right up to the mid-19th century—when slavery became a bone of contention between European imperial powers, full of new-found abolitionist zeal, and traditional Muslim authorities across the Middle East and beyond. Like everything else about the Muslim encounter with European colonialism, this is a painful memory, and many Muslims insist that the European stance was patronising and hypocritical.

In certain cases, the Muslim sheikhs’ response to colonial pressure involved a tart recourse to Islam’s holy texts, in which the existence of slavery is taken as an inexorable feature of human society. If God tolerated this system, the traditional Islamic scholars said, it was surely not for any human authority to abolish it.

Others told their Western critics that slavery, as practised under Islam, was a far more humane phenomenon than the bondage endured by say, American plantation workers; therefore the Westerners had no moral standing.

Although this lies outside the scope of Mr Brown’s book, present-day discussions about slavery are further complicated by the much broader sense in which the word has come to be used. The term “modern slavery” now encompasses human trafficking, especially for sexual exploitation, as well as the bonded labour imposed for debts, for example in India and Pakistan. The term also covers forced labour mandated by harsh states like North Korea. According to the United Nations, at least 40m people endure modern slavery of one form or another.

However traditional slavery, in which humans are treated as chattels, and bequeath their status to their children, does still exist, even though all countries have abolished it. The places where the social reality of servitude lingers on are mostly in a swathe across North Africa: for example Mauritania, Niger, the Central African Republic and Sudan. In Mauritania, slavery was formally abolished by the French colonists in 1905, and by the independent republic in 1981, but last year the country was rebuked by the African Union for failing to stamp it out.

Nasser Weddady, a Mauritanian-American activist who encourages civil-society movements across North Africa, says the subject is so emotional in his home region that it is hard to have a calm discussion. People either exaggerate slavery’s persistence or deny it ever existed. Many younger Arab Muslims have accepted the argument that Islam never endorsed slavery, and become upset when presented with evidence to the contrary, he has discovered.

That makes it all the more important for scholars to examine the evidence through an objective historical lens, as Mr Brown sets out to do. In truth, he writes, there can be no doubt that Islam’s founding texts accept and assume the existence of slavery. They also strongly encourage masters to free their slaves, as a way of atoning for sin or simply as a disinterested act of piety.

But keeping slaves is not condemned: it is considered to be a logical consequence of war, in which the men, women and children of the losing side are taken captive. It also seems clear from the texts that male householders are allowed to take female captives as concubines.

On the other hand, it is also clear that in Islam, man’s natural condition is freedom; when an abandoned child is discovered, it is assumed to be free. But where a child’s parentage is known, the status of servitude passes down the generations. Unless they are explicitly freed, the children of slaves can expect to spend their lives in bondage.

Despite all that, the vast majority of today’s Muslim thinkers share the modern view that slavery is an absolute evil, whose abolition is to be welcomed. As Mr Brown carefully explains, they use many different arguments to reconcile this position with the older texts. Some stress that freedom for all was always the divine purpose, and that God only allowed slavery in the early days of Islam as a concession to the realities of the age. Others insist that God never really approved of slavery at all, and that regulating an evil phenomenon is not the same as endorsing it.

Others still assert that Islam can evolve. They stress the entitlement of Muslim scholars, after due deliberation, to make fresh moral pronouncements through a process of ijma or consensus. Some scholars emphasise the right of legitimate rulers to make liberating reforms. In other words, the adage that “man can never abolish what God allowed” has largely been dropped.

To people outside the world of Islam, or indeed outside the world of revealed religion, it may seem unimportant which line of exegesis is used to reconcile modern thinking about slavery with Islam’s holy writ. The main thing, surely, is the conclusion: that slavery is now and always will be unacceptable.

But Mr Brown convincingly shows that theology matters, if only because any argument that can be constructed theologically can also be deconstructed. The terrorist movement known as Daesh (or Islamic State) regards the legitimacy of slavery under Islam as axiomatic, and questions the right of anyone who thinks otherwise to be considered Muslim. Appallingly, it claimed scriptural authority for the right of its fighters to rape female captives of an alien faith, such as the Yazidis.

The ISIS “caliphate” may have been destroyed, but the group’s ideas also need to be opposed theologically. Non-Muslims are unlikely to make much contribution to the minutiae of debate about what this or that passage in the Koran really means, but they can at least offer encouragement from the sidelines whenever the matter is being addressed in good faith.

Correction: An earlier version of this article said that under Islamic law, the child of a free father and slave mother is considered a slave. In fact, such a child is deemed free.

Pakistan: Sikh priest’s daughter abducted, forcibly converted to Islam in Nankana Sahib, family pleads to Prime Minister Imran Khan for help
https://www.opindia.com/2019/08/pakista ... mran-khan/
The terrorist state of Pakistan, which perpetrates falsehoods about the supposed mistreatment of minorities in India, has itself remained a dangerous place for minorities, especially the Sikhs and Hindus as rampant forced conversion have left the community vulnerable in the country.

In another case of forced conversions of minorities in Pakistan, a Sikh girl named Jagjit Kaur has allegedly been abducted and forcefully converted to Islam on a gunpoint in Pakistan’s Nankana Sahib city. The family of the victim has alleged that the girl was forced to marry a Muslim boy after bring forcefully converted to Islam. The 19-year-old girl is daughter of Bhagwan Singh, a ‘granthi’ (priest) of Gurudwara Tambu Sahib.

Reportedly, the family added that six people abducted their daughter Jagir Kaur at gunpoint on the night between August 27 and August 28. The girl’s family has also appealed assistance from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to protect the family and has demanded that the girl be sent back. They said even though an FIR had been filed, nothing was done to bring back the abducted girl. The girl’s brother has alleged that the goons have threatened them to withdraw the complaint otherwise they’d be killed.

Virginia: Muslim State Senate Candidate Cries 'Islamophobia' When He’s Quoted
https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/v ... es-quoted/
Qasim Rashid, an Ahmadi Muslim who is running as a Democrat for the Virginia State Senate, is enraged at the dirty tricks of his opponent, Richard Stuart. “My Republican opponent,” fumed Rashid in a video last week, “is launching anti-Muslim, Islamophobic attacks against me questioning my loyalty to the United States and questioning my ties with terrorism, I mean just the most ridiculous, meritless claims that are imaginable.” What did Stuart do to warrant these charges? Why, the racist, bigoted Islamophobe had the temerity to quote Rashid’s own words.

Rashid, according to WMAL, “posted a screenshot on Twitter of one of the ads paid for by incumbent Richard Stuart’s re-election campaign. It shows a picture of Rashid with a caption ‘QASIM RASHID DOESN’T BELIEVE ISLAMIC TERRORISM EXISTS.’”

But there’s just one catch: Stuart’s claim that Qasim Rashid “doesn’t believe Islamic terrorism exists” is based on the words of none other than the notorious Islamophobe Qasim Rashid. In his own defense, Stuart was able to point to a 2018 tweet in which Rashid declared: “No such thing as Islamic terrorism. Terrorism has no religion.”

The truth? What’s that? Brushing aside Mohr’s defense, Rashid said that Stuart was “fear-mongering” about his Islamic faith. To that, Mohr came back with yet more truth: “Mr. Rashid is crying foul to deflect attention from his radical positions,” Mohr wrote. According to WMAL, “Mohr went on to say none of the ads mention Rashid’s religion, and Stuart’s record shows he supports religious liberty.”

Meanwhile, Rashid “said he will not respond to the ads with counter-attacks but will instead focus on the issues.” Yes, of course. Just pay no attention to Rashid’s countercharges that Stuart was engaging in “anti-Muslim, Islamophobic” attacks and leveling “ridiculous, meritless claims.” Rashid said piously that he was not going to respond, and he is obviously credible.

Note also Rashid’s straw man: he charged Stuart with “questioning my loyalty to the United States and questioning my ties with terrorism,” but there is none of that in Stuart’s ad. All it says is that Rashid doesn’t believe that Islamic terrorism exists, which is what the man actually said.

Rashid’s unhinged and disingenuous response to being quoted is not really any surprise. Qasim Rashid has for years been a professional liar, a one-man cottage industry of deception and hypocrisy. He has whitewashed Muhammad’s support for torture and the reality of jihad violence and Sharia oppression; dissembled about the Qur’an’s sanction of deception of unbelievers; lied about the presence of violent passages in the Qur’an; lied about the Qur’an’s sanction of beating disobedient women; lied about the nature of Sharia; called for limitations on the freedom of speech and expression to outlaw behavior and speech some Muslims may find offensive; and lied about Muhammad’s stance toward the persecution of Christians. He has even blamed Christianity for Islam’s death penalty for blasphemy. He has also claimed that “the teachings of Islam could help us prevent more sexual abuse scandals.”

When challenged about the “facts” he has presented, Qasim Rashid (like virtually all other Islamic supremacists) responds with furious ad hominem contempt, but never answers the refutations of his articles on substantive grounds — because, of course, he cannot do so. Just as he has behaved now toward Richard Stuart. It’s characteristic of the dishonesty that has marked Qasim Rashid’s entire public career that he would sling multiple smears at his opponent and then claim he wasn’t going to respond at all.

Should not the student have at least provided correct number of islamic terrorists?

Muslim student calls out educational institute for uploading 'Islamophobic' lecture content
https://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2019-09- ... s/11483392
Tayeba Quddus was shocked when she saw a lecture slide from a subject on diversity suggesting that while "most Muslims are peaceful", up to 300 million Muslims were "radicals who want to destroy and murder".

The 26-year-old had already been disturbed by a classroom discussion early in the unit at Melbourne's Holmesglen Institute, where she said students had been allowed to talk over her and share false cliches about Muslims.

So she complained to her teachers, who she said took her comments on board but initially left the material online.

Unsatisfied, Ms Quddus took her complaint to the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission.

Shortly afterwards, Holmesglen Institute took the material down and has since offered an unreserved apologised to her, promising training for the teachers involved.

RSS: Why only Muslims, not other minorities, feel unsafe? | India News - Times of India

HIGHLIGHTS

- RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal questioned the perception that Muslims were afraid in India.

- “Muslims are more than 16 crore, then why are they afraid? Why and from whom? It should be discussed," Gopal said.

- “How many Parsis are there in India... hardly 50,000, Jains 45 lakh and about 80 lakh Buddhists are there. Jews are only 5,000. They are not afraid of anyone,” he said.

NEW DELHI: Why is there a perception that Muslims are “afraid” in India despite numbering over 16 crore, RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal asked while saying that other minorities, far less in numbers, felt safe in the country.

Gopal questioned the perception that Muslims were afraid in India, suggesting it was difficult to understand this when Parsis, Buddhists and Jains did not share such a perception.

Gopal said India never compromised on the principles of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (entire world is one family) and ‘sarve bhavantu sukhinah’ (all should be happy) and wanted that even Pakistan should prosper.

The RSS leader was speaking at a conference on Mughal prince ‘Dara Shikoh — Icon of Composite Culture’ in the national capital on Wednesday.

Describing Dara Shikoh as the face of inclusiveness, Gopal said he was a true Muslim and had translated the Upanishads into Persian. He said inclusiveness and unity were always integral and an essential part of Indian culture.

Referring to an article written by Islamic scholar Raamish Siddiqui that Muslims should not be afraid as they were more than 16 crore in the country, Gopal said "it is a big question" as to why such a mindset exists.

“How many Parsis are there in India... hardly 50,000, Jains 45 lakh and about 80 lakh Buddhists are there. Jews are only 5,000. They are not afraid of anyone, ” he said.

“Muslims are more than 16 crore, then why are they afraid? Why and from whom? It should be discussed, " Gopal said and suggested that it could be due to a "divisive mindset" propagated by Mughal ruler Aurangzeb.

Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, who also addressed the conference, said Aurangzeb was a "symbol of terrorism" while his brother Dara Shikoh was the “identity of nationalism”.

“Violence and oppression committed by an anarchist and cruel ruler like Aurangzeb was glorified by a group of Islamic fanatics, Leftist and so-called secular historians," Naqvi said, adding that Aurangzeb's philosophy was to destroy human values and India's 'Sanatan Sanskriti'.

Bihar: Hindu widow punished by Sarpanch Aslam for ‘affair’ with Muslim man, fed beef, converted to Islam and forcefully married off to him
https://www.opindia.com/2019/09/bihar-h ... to-muslim/

In Farkiya Panchayat under Baunsi Police Station of Taniganj in Araria district, an incident of forced conversion of a widow has come to light. A middle-aged Muslim married man and a Hindu widow were tied with a rope and could be seen beaten with a stick by the villagers in a viral video. They were accused of having an illicit affair. The woman was then fed beef forcefully against her will, converted to Islam and married off to the Muslim man before being cast away from the village.

The video of the crime went viral on social media. The middle-aged man has been identified as one Akbar. The incident happened on the 13th of September. According to reports, when Akbar went to his paddy field, several villagers took him to the woman’s house on some pretext and tied them there. The woman was fed beef and bones by the violent mob. All of this was done under the leadership of the Sarpanch, Mohammed Aslam. Now a concerted effort is being made to hush up the incident.

Muslims in India luckier than those in Islamic countries: Mark Tully – PTI

NEW DELHI: Muslims in India are "much luckier" than those in the Islamic countries as they can worship in any Islamic tradition, says veteran journalist Mark Tully.

Citing an example, he says that in Delhi's Nizamuddin area, where he resides, there is theTablighi Jamaat's headquarters and they are “very strict and orthodox”.

Next to it, there is the Sufi tradition where people pray at the tomb of Nizamuddin Auliya and sing qawwalis, he adds.

“India's spirit of tolerance is its strength which makes a harmonious environment for different religions to exist side by side, ” Tully is quoted as saying in the latest issue of The Equator Line magazine. The issue is titled “Home and The World”.

According to Tully, India is “unique and is home to all the religions, well almost”.

“India has spirituality. As of now these religions are varied themselves. Muslims in India are much luckier than Muslims in the Islamic countries because in India they can worship in any Islamic tradition” he says.

Also in the issue is a piece by Tim Grandage, a Briton who came to Kolkata 32 years ago as a banking officer. He later gave up his job to set up a charity called Future Hope to work for slum children.

Grandage says he learnt a lot from these children.

“The value of trust, care, opportunity, commitment, and of tolerance, of talking to others and listening too, of seeing a glass as half full and not half empty.”

There are also essays by Bhaskar Chakravorti, dean of global business at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University; US based psychiatrist Reshma Hingorani; consultant and former UN staffer Sarthi Acharya and writer and television producer Jad Adams among others.

In the editorial, Bhaskar Roy writes that the real challenge for India is to “go out meet the world upfront occupying as much space as our talent and capability permit, and also to restore and recover the back-end from the abysmal chaos and dysfunction”.

He says the 21st century India needs to “navigate its anarchy and flaws to recover what has been already laid waste”.

Malaysia: 54% of the Muslim women surveyed believe it is not acceptable for a Muslim to attend a Hindu wedding at a temple
21% of Muslim women in Malaysia believe that a husband can beat his wife if the wife disobeys him, a survey by rights group Sisters in Islam (SIS) on Muslim women’s realities in Malaysia has stated. The Islamic concept of “nusyuz” or refusing to obey a husband’s wishes or commands is cited as the basis for this opinion.
88% of respondents agreed that it would be nusyuz if a wife were to leave the house without her husband’s consent, refuse to move in with the husband (54%), refuse to have sexual intercourse (52%), refuse to open the door for the husband (50%) or refuse to answer the husband’s calling (46%). Under these circumstances, they believe a husband may beat his wife. They believe that these are acts of disobedience by the wife, and therefore the husband is permitted to strike her.

In addition to that, 93% of the surveyed Muslim women believed that a woman must always obey her husband, 76% believed that the right to divorce must always be in the hands of the husband and 20% believed that a working mother is usually not a good mother to her children. Furthermore, 31% of the women did not believe they had the right to report if their husbands forced them to have sex without their consent. 32% of them did not believe they had the right to decide when to have sexual relations within their marriages. The opinions of the women on polygamy were interesting. 70% of the surveyed women agree that Muslim men could practice polygamy so long as they treated all their wives fairly but only 32% of them would permit their husbands to take another wife. At the same time, 66% of respondents agreed that it is fine for a wife to demand a divorce if her husband decides to marry another wife and 74% of respondents agreed that a wife has a right to object should her husband wish to take another wife.

The SIS survey also revealed the bigotry that prevails within Malaysian society against non-Muslims. 54% of the Muslim women surveyed believe it is not acceptable for a Muslim to attend a Hindu wedding at a temple. 58% believe it is not acceptable for a Muslim to attend a Christian funeral at a church. 61% believe it is unacceptable for a Muslim to accompany a non-Muslim friend to eat in a non-Halal restaurant. 87% believe it is not acceptable for a Muslim to consume alcohol among his non-Muslim friends.

Furthermore, 31% believe it is not acceptable for a person to marry someone from a different religion. 35% of those surveyed believe it is unacceptable for a non-Muslim to attend an Ijab Qabul ceremony at a Mosque.

The survey came to the conclusion that “Gender inequality is more prominent at an individual level; there exists strong pressure to conform to expectations. Independence is lacking in the roles of Muslim women as daughters, wives and mothers. As a wife, a Muslim woman encounters far greater levels of discrimination than in other roles”.

The report further concluded that “Many women feel that Islamic teachings can be used to favour men as the more ‘dominant’ gender and this is a pressure point for women to portray a correct self-image as a Muslim woman. This can be seen at home and at work”.

Cutting the line

To suppress news of Xinjiang’s gulag, China threatens Uighurs abroad

A government-funded radio station in America has played a vital role in exposing Xinjiang’s horrors

On a single day in January 2018 in the far-western region of Xinjiang, 25 members of Gulchehra Hoja’s family, including her parents in their 70s, received calls summoning them to police stations in Urumqi, the provincial capital, and in Ili, 500km away near China’s western border. When they arrived they were told they were being detained because of their kinship with Ms Hoja, a reporter for Radio Free Asia (RFA), a broadcaster funded by the American government. RFA had recently reported on the mass internment of Uighurs, a Muslim ethnic group that makes up nearly half of Xinjiang’s 22m people. Ms Hoja’s father could not answer the summons because he was in hospital. Instead, police sent guards to stop him escaping.

The message to RFA was clear, and it was not the first one. A year earlier—just before China began rounding up hundreds of thousands of Uighurs, often for no other reason than their devotion to Islam—Ms Hoja’s colleague, Kurban Niyaz, another Uighur exile in America, received a photo from his younger sister on WeChat, a Chinese social-media app. It showed two Chinese police officers sitting on her sofa (one of them smiled for the camera). They had ordered her to send him the photo, Mr Kurban says, to remind him that “the people’s cops are just next to my family members”.

The Communist Party’s efforts to suppress Uighurs have extended far beyond China’s borders. Uighur exiles and former detainees in Europe, America and elsewhere have been warned, sometimes through relatives, not to speak about Xinjiang’s new gulag. Those who have done so have faced repercussions. On October 13th state media in China circulated a video of a Uighur man rejecting as “an outright lie” an account by Mike Pompeo, America’s secretary of state, that the man’s sister, Zumrat Dawut, had been detained, beaten and forcibly sterilised. In the video Ms Dawut’s brother appears to be reading a statement. “I’m making this video clip just to tell the truth to the world,” he says to the camera.

Few exiles have felt intimidation more acutely than the 12 Uighurs in America who produce RFA’s Uighur-language news. That is because the station is the only one outside China that broadcasts in this Turkic tongue, and it pulls no punches. RFA reports relentlessly on Xinjiang’s human-rights horrors. Uighur staff say their relatives have been interrogated or detained just for having a family member who works for RFA. At least six of them have a combined total of more than 40 relatives who are in the new detention facilities (officially known as vocational-training centres—one is pictured) or in prison, or have gone missing. That includes more than 20 of Ms Hoja’s relatives, who are still being held 21 months after they were taken. The police have asked them what they told RFA, which China calls an “enemy radio station”. Her relatives were not sources for her stories, she says.

It is easy to see why Chinese officials would view RFA so darkly, even if it were not funded by America. Its staff doggedly pursue sources in Xinjiang, sometimes making hundreds of calls daily, to glean titbits of information about the regime’s treatment of Uighurs. The service beams its Uighur-language reports for two hours each day via shortwave radio and satellite. China jams RFA’s transmissions and blocks its website, but in a survey of Uighurs in Turkey who had recently left their homeland, about one-fifth had listened to or read RFA news at least once a week while in Xinjiang. RFA’s stories have helped bring global attention to the new detention centres, details of which have been difficult for journalists to uncover because of an intense security clampdown in Xinjiang. The publicity has aggravated tensions between China and America. The Trump administration this month declared sanctions against Chinese officials and businesses implicated in repressing Uighurs.

Mapping the Gulag

It was more than a year after RFA first reported on the facilities that the government finally acknowledged their existence in October 2018. It continued to deny that Uighurs were being forced into them to undergo weeks, months or even longer periods of indoctrination in the party’s virtues and the dangers of “extremism” (a term applied even to the wearing of Islamic dress). Since then officials have arranged Potemkin tours for some foreign media and diplomats. The visits have fooled few. In August Olsi Jazexhi, an Albanian scholar who had previously been sceptical of reports such as RFA’s, emerged from a detention-camp tour to attest (to RFA) that, from what he saw, people were being imprisoned for the crime of being Muslim and Uighur. Adrian Zenz, a German scholar, notes that even the government’s own literature says the centres are meant to “wash clean the brains” of the people they house.

It is not only China’s government that criticises RFA’s reporting on Xinjiang. Some people who sympathise with the Uighur cause say its stories are sometimes thinly sourced and melodramatic. Others say the station’s support from the American government, to the tune of $44m a year, including $2m for the Uighur-language service, suggests that RFA is a propaganda tool. The broadcaster, founded in the 1990s, says it has editorial independence. But it belongs to a constellation of government-sponsored stations, other members of which had their heyday in the cold war, including Voice of America and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

There is certainly a cold-war feel to working for RFA’s Uighur service. Many of the people the journalists try to speak to in Xinjiang are too afraid to answer. Staff suspect the Chinese authorities use voice-recognition technology to identify them and block their phone conversations—lines to Xinjiang often drop after a minute of conversation. “The intimidation, the incarceration of our loved ones is very constant,” says Mamatjan Juma, the service’s deputy director. His three brothers are all in custody, two of them since May 2017. Sometimes the pressure is too much—just hearing a song that he used to listen to with his brothers can cause floods of tears. “It affects you, but you have to get up every day and come to work, because if you don’t write, if you don’t report on these issues, nobody would. We don’t have a choice.”

For the record, from above, comrades doing their comrade putch (or whatever it's called) on peaceful.

Don't let half comrades and half Islamists fool you.
Some nomenclature to clarify muddle:

Rebellion : by common people to establish democracy, which is what Indians should be ready to support elsewhere.

Jihard: religious riots, to be suppressed, even if called as rebellion to hide root causes.

Conquest/crusade : same as above.

Pseudo-lefty rioting: putch or what it's called. Reminds of Chinese premier going to Nepal and issuing threats while comrades came to power with support from interested groups and no one reminded that China does not have democracy so Nepal democracy, even under left, is 'better' than China.

IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi killed in US raid in Syria, Donald Trump says

Speaking at the White House on Sunday, the President said the IS leader “died like a dog, he died like a coward” in an operation on Saturday evening.

Mr Trump said he had watched the operation unfold by video “so clearly” that it was “almost like a movie”, later adding that Al-Baghdadi died while “crying, whimpering and screaming”.

"Last night, the United States brought the world's number one terrorist leader to justice. Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is dead," he said.

“He will never again harm another innocent man, woman or child.

“He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a much safer place. God bless America. Thank you.”

Mr Trump said US intelligence forces had followed him for weeks before the incident on Saturday, and that “many people” had been killed in the final raid.

He added that “two or three efforts were cancelled” before Saturday’s operation, which saw eight helicopters land “in a friendly port, in a friendly country” - although he refused to disclose the specific location.

According to Mr Trump, the US team “were greeted with a lot of firepower” but Baghdadi was surrounded by airpower and “we lost nobody”.

He said Al Baghdadi was chased “into a dead-end tunnel” where he detonated a suicide vest and killed himself and three of his children.

Earlier on Sunday, Newsweek quoted unnamed sources as saying the raid was carried out by special operations forces after they received "actionable intelligence".

Trump had earlier tweeted in the early hours of Sunday: “Something very big has just happened!”

Al-Baghdadi has led the IS terror group for the last five years and has remained at large with a £19.5 million bounty on his head despite several claims that he had been killed, which later turned out to be untrue.

He is believed to be responsible for encouraging jihadists who couldn’t travel to the caliphate to kill people where they were.

IS released a video of a man it claimed to be Baghdadi earlier this year - the first time he had been seen in five years.

Before that, the leader’s last public appearance was when he delivered a sermon at Mosul’s Great Mosque of al-Nuri in 2014 in which he declared the creation of a "caliphate" across parts of Syria and Iraq.

Since then he has released audio recordings, including one last month in which he called on members of IS to do all they could to free IS detainees and women held in jails and camps.

In the US, some extremists have pledged their allegiance to al-Baghdadi on social media including Tashfeen Malik, who alongside husband Syed Rizwan killed 14 people and injured 22 in a mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, in 2015.

Mollycoddling and pandering to Islamists is deeply ingrained in US/Western societies.
It's no wonder that turds like Audrey T tries to cover for genocidal maniacs like Aurangzeb.
