Tablighi Jamaat - its other, evil side
Global security experts call it the antechamber of fundamentalism, claim it is used to nurse and indoctrinate terrorists.
excerpted
nd now the climax, for the unwary. Where was this noble-looking evil born? India. Who founded it? Indian. Name? Maulana Mohammed Illyasi. When? In 1920s. Where is its global headquarters? Nizamuddin West Delhi! The place of its annual meet in which hundreds of Tablighis from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, China and other coronavirus hotspots participated. The outbreak was astonishingly in control in India till Nizamuddin exploded as a grave and dangerous national threat. TJ with its headquarters in India now functions in some 80 countries with some 80 million adherents.
In a 173-page paper titled “Tablighi Jamaat: Wolf in sheep’s skin [Sept 9, 2018; released to media again after the Nizamuddin episode] Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, a Zionist and multi-award-winning anti-jihadist journalist and a counterterrorism specialist, unravels the massive following of JT and its terror connections the world over. Thousands of TJ teachers from within and outside assemble in India and that is what they did in Nizamuddin. Is it just to memorise the six noble principles or as Dr Farhan says “to discuss and coordinate terror activities”, will never be known in India, as no government has the guts to enter any mosque, thanks to the way secularism is understood in our politics.Unless this limit is breached and the menace is outlawed, innocent Muslims attracted by its cosmetic exterior of Koran cannot be saved from becoming carriers of Kalashnikovs and makers and throwers of lethal bombs. Let the courts decide whether TJ’s right to mentor terror in India also constitutes minority right, as is so far being understood.

Never ceases to amaze. Even in the midwest of this crisis. There's something worrying with these fellas.

Knife attack leaves two dead in France.
Two people have been killed and five wounded in a knife attack in south-east France, in what the interior minister described as a terrorist incident.

Witnesses said the attacker entered a tobacconist in the town of Romans-sur-Isère, near Grenoble, and stabbed the owners and a customer.

He then went to a nearby butcher's shop and attacked more people.

A suspect, described in French media as a 33-year-old man from Sudan, has been arrested.

Tablighi Jamaat: An Indirect Line to Terrorism
By Fred Burton and Scott Stewart, 2008
Spanish police conducted a series of raids on apartment buildings, a mosque and a prayer hall in Barcelona on Jan. 19, seizing bombmaking materials and arresting 14 men who allegedly were planning to attack targets in the city. Spanish Interior Minister Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba said the detainees were Islamists belonging to a "well-organized group that had gone a step beyond radicalization." A Muslim leader in Barcelona was quoted in some media reports as saying the 14 suspects — 12 Pakistanis, an Indian and a Bangladeshi — were members of a "Pakistani-based group called Tablighi Jamaat." The Tablighi Jamaat (TJ) name has come up before in connection with terrorism plots, including the October 2002 Portland Seven and the September 2002 Lackawanna Six cases in the United States, as well as the August 2006 plot to bomb airliners en route from London to the United States, the July 7, 2005, London Underground bombings and the July 2007 attempted bombings in London and Glasgow, Scotland. Over the past several years we also have received several queries about TJ from U.S. law enforcement officials who are concerned about the group's presence and activities in the United States. This, then, is a good time to correct some of the erroneous information regarding TJ — and attempt to paint a realistic portrait of the very real threat posed by some of the people affiliated with TJ.

Tablighi Jamaat

The Tablighi Jamaat (Group for Preaching) movement was established in Mewat, India, in 1927 and stems from the Deobandi brand of the Hanafi Sunni school of jurisprudence. Deobandi is the most commonly practiced form of Islam in South Asia, and TJ is but a small subset of the larger Deobandi community. TJ was designed to be an apolitical, pietistic organization that sends missionaries across the globe on proselytizing missions intended to bring wayward Muslims back to more orthodox practices of Islam. TJ followers (Tablighis) are mostly of South Asian origin, though there are Tablighis from many different ethnic and national backgrounds. In fact, TJ operates in 150 countries and has an estimated 70 million to 80 million active followers, making it the largest Muslim movement in the world. Its annual gatherings in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh reportedly bring together the largest congregations of Muslims in the world outside of the Hajj. The group's stated mission is to work at a grassroots level, reaching out to Muslims across the social and economic spectrum. Tablighis do not solicit or receive donations, but rather are largely funded by senior members. At face value, TJ is a peaceful, egalitarian and devotional movement that stresses individual faith and overall spiritual development. In a sense, TJ is a widespread training system that urges average Muslims to examine their own lives and become involved in calling their fellow Muslims back to orthodox Islam. Because of TJ's tactics, some Islamist groups refer to its members as "Muslim Jehovah's Witnesses" and accuse them of abandoning politics and jihad. Upon joining the movement, Tablighi recruits are given the option of attending the Tablighi center in the Pakistani city of Raiwind, near Lahore, Pakistan, for four months of additional religious training to equip them to preach the Tablighi message. It is important to understand that TJ is a loosely controlled mass movement rather than a centralized group, as some would maintain. Although TJ operates mosques, it has no fixed membership and Tablighis are free to leave the movement. The mosques are used to support the efforts of the independent jamaat (groups of 10 preachers) that undertake preaching missions. The type of work performed and the duration of that work are left solely to the discretion and conscience of the individual jamaat. Some jamaat choose to serve a short period of time while others preach for months or even years. Although TJ is Deobandi, it allows any Sunni Muslim to join in its missionary work as long as that person accepts the group's austere creed. Because of the large number of South Asian Muslims in the United Kingdom, TJ is very strong in that country. The Tablighi-run Markazi Mosque in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, is the group's European headquarters. The organization's strength in Britain was demonstrated in 2007 when it announced plans to construct an 18-acre mosque complex in STRATFORd, East London, on a site near the 2012 Olympic Park. According to some reports, the new complex would have a capacity of up to 70,000 people, making it the largest religious building in the United Kingdom and the largest mosque in Europe. The construction of such an enormous mosque has raised some concerns and more than a bit of controversy among the British people. The organization, however, also has a presence in most other European countries, while French authorities have claimed that 80 percent of the radical Islamists they have encountered have had some sort of contact with the TJ movement. In the United States, the FBI believes some 50,000 people are associated with TJ missions, while Tablighi mosques currently operate in several U.S. states, including California, Texas and New York. The Al-Falah Mosque in the Corona area of Queens, N.Y., apparently is the group's North American headquarters.

The Wahhabi/Salafi Myth

In addition to the misconception that TJ is a hierarchical group, perhaps the second most commonly held misconception about the Tablighis is that they adhere to a Wahhabi branch of Islam. In much the same way that there are different denominations of Christians, there are several different branches and sub-branches of Islam. Wahhabism, sometimes also referred to as Salafism, is an orthodox belief system held by the Saudi ruling family and most people in Saudi Arabia. Wahhabism also is the form of Islam practiced by al Qaeda and many militant jihadist groups. In fact, the Deobandi Tablighis often are severely criticized by orthodox religious authorities (ulema), such as Sunni Wahhabi ulema in Saudi Arabia, who have issued fatwa prohibiting the Tablighis from preaching in the country and banning Tablighi literature from being imported into the country. The Wahhabi ulema have issued rulings declaring Tablighis to be deviants and forbidding participation in Tablighi activities unless the reason for the participation is to criticize the Tablighis for their deviant beliefs. Remember that not all Wahhabi or Salafi Muslims are jihadists and not all radical Islamists are Wahhabi/Salafi — or even Sunni for that matter. Many groups ascribing to a jihadist theology, such as the Taliban, are Deobandi. Hezbollah is a Shiite organization, while Jamaat al Fuqra has Sufi leanings. Tablighis also are heavily criticized by militant Deobandi Islamists, such as the Taliban, Kashmiri militant groups, anti-Shiite sectarian militant groups and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI) for their apolitical stance regarding the war on terrorism, which many Muslims perceive as a war against Islam. Tablighi theology stresses that Muslims must first devote themselves to becoming good, practicing Muslims in their own personal lives, rather than struggling for political power or even protesting oppression by non-Muslims. This focus on the inner person first is the opposite approach to that taken by radical Islamists, who seek to seize political power through force and then form an Islamic state or caliphate that can impose Shariah law on the individual. Because of this, some Islamist militants accuse the Tablighis of being a tool of the Jews and Hindus because they deny the need for a physical jihad and focus on the "greater jihad," which is the inner struggle for faith and piety.

The Tablighi Role in the Global Jihadism

However, there are indeed some links between Tablighis and the world of jihadism. First, there is evidence of indirect connections between the group and the wider radical/extremist Deobandi nexus composed of anti-Shiite sectarian groups, Kashmiri militants and the Taliban. This link provides a medium through which Tablighis who are disgruntled with the group's apolitical program could break orbit and join militant organizations. One apparent manifestation of this nexus was a purported militant offshoot of TJ, Jihad bi al-Saif (Jihad through the Sword), which was established in Taxila, Pakistan. Members of this group were accused of plotting a coup against former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 1995. Yet, because of the organization's extreme secrecy, little is known about it other than that it is believed to have developed in reaction to the TJ's apolitical, peaceful stance. The TJ organization also serves as a de facto conduit for Islamist extremists and for groups such as al Qaeda to recruit new members. Significantly, the Tablighi recruits do intersect with the world of radical Islamism when they travel to Pakistan to receive their initial training. We have received reports that once the recruits are in Pakistan, representatives of various radical Islamist groups, such as Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, the Taliban and al Qaeda, are said to woo them actively — to the point of offering them military training. And some of them accept the offer. For example, John Walker Lindh — an American who is serving a prison sentence for aiding the Taliban in Afghanistan — traveled with Tablighi preachers to Pakistan in 1998 to further his Islamic studies before joining the Taliban. Because of the piety and strict belief system of the Tablighis and their focus on calling wayward Muslims back to an austere and orthodox Muslim faith, the movement has offered a place where jihadist spotters can look for potential recruits. These facilitators often offer enthusiastic new or rededicated Muslims a more active way to live and develop their faith. Although the TJ promotes a benign message, the same conservative Islamic values espoused by the Tablighis also are part of jihadist ideology, and so some Muslims attracted to the Tablighi movement are enticed into becoming involved with jihadists. Additionally, because of its apolitical belief system, TJ seems to leave a gap in the ideological indoctrination of the individual Tablighi because it essentially asks the novice to shun politics and public affairs. The problem in taking this belief system from theory to practice, however, is that some people find they cannot ignore what is happening in the world around them, especially when that world includes wars. This is when some Tablighis become disillusioned with TJ and start turning to jihadist groups that offer religiously sanctioned prescriptions as to how "good Muslims" should deal with life's injustices. Once a facilitator identifies such candidates, he often will segregate them from the main congregation in the mosque or community center and put them into small prayer circles or study groups where they can be more easily exposed to jihadist ideology. (Of course, it also has been shown that a person with friends or relatives who ascribe to radical ideology can more easily be radical). Examples of people making the jump from TJ to radical Islam are the two leading members of the cell responsible for the July 7, 2005, London bombings — Mohammed Siddique Khan and Shahzad Tanweer. Both had life-changing experiences through their exposure to TJ, though by 2001 the men had left the Tablighi mosque they had been attending in the British city of Beeston, because they found it to be too apolitical. They apparently were frustrated by the mosque's elders, who forbid the discussion of politics in the mosque. After Khan and Tanweer left the Tablighi mosque, they began attending the smaller Iqra Learning Center bookstore in Beeston, where they reportedly were exposed to frequent political discussions about places such as Iraq, Kashmir and Chechnya. The store's proprietors reportedly even produced jihad videos depicting crimes by the West against the Muslim world. Exposed to this environment, the two men eventually became radicalized to the point of traveling to Pakistan to attend a terrorist training camp and then returning to the United Kingdom to plan and execute a suicide attack that resulted in the death of them both. TJ also is used by jihadists as cover both for recruiting activities, as discussed above, and for travel. Like Khan and Tanweer, many jihadists desire to travel to Pakistan for training, while others want to get to Afghanistan, Kashmir or other places to fight jihad. However, the travel environment is far different today than it was in the early 1980s, when 747 jetliners packed with jihadists from Saudi Arabia and other places flew into Pakistan en route to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. Foreigners traveling to Pakistan today cannot enter the country without a visa, and Pakistani authorities are no longer inclined to issue visas to jihadists, as Jeffrey Battle and the other members of the Portland Seven had to learn the hard way. Shortly after the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, the friends traveled to China with the intention of entering Afghanistan by way of Pakistan. Once at the Chinese-Pakistani border, however, they found they could not enter Pakistan without a visa. After spending a frustrating month trying to obtain visas from the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing, the seven aspiring jihadists decided to go their separate ways. Battle, who reportedly once served as a bodyguard for Black Panther leader Quanell X, later attempted to obtain a visa to Pakistan by saying he was affiliated with TJ. The Pakistanis, probably recognizing him from his prior (and apparently somewhat vocal) visa attempts, denied him again, though he was able to get a visa to travel to Bangladesh using the feigned connection to TJ. Unable to make his way from Bangladesh to Pakistan or Afghanistan, however, Battle returned to the United States, where he was later arrested. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of seditious conspiracy and waging war against the United States. Similarly, in the spring of 2001 the members of the so-called Lackawanna Six cell traveled to Pakistan under the pretext of studying the Islamic religion and culture at the TJ training center. In reality, the men traveled through Pakistan to Afghanistan, where they attended training at the al-Farooq camp, a training site being run by al Qaeda. Again, the men used TJ as cover for travel, though there is no indication that TJ played any real part in their alleged plot. Although the TJ organization unintentionally serves as a front for, or conduit to, militant organizations such as al Qaeda, there is no evidence that the Tablighis act willingly as a global unified jihadist recruiting arm. Rather, such activities appear to occur without the knowledge or consent of TJ leaders. Additionally, because of the very size of the organization and it activities in Muslim communities in the West, a great many Muslims have had some sort of contact with the group. TJ itself, however, is not an intentional propagator of terrorism.

Bihar: A minor Hindu boy sacrificed to make a new mosque in the area ‘powerful’ and ‘influential’, police apathy forces family to relocate
https://www.opindia.com/2020/05/bihar-a ... ocate/amp/

In a horrific incident, a minor Hindu boy, a resident of Bela Dih village of Kateya in Gopalganj, Bihar, was taken to a mosque and killed. His body was then thrown into a nearby river. When the parents of the minor reached the police station with a complaint, they were brutally beaten up by the police. The conditions became so hostile that the family was compelled to leave the village and relocate to somewhere in Uttar Pradesh.

The father desperate to get justice said helplessly while speaking to OpIndia that so far no local leader has also extended a hand to help to his family. The village head and the senior police officer are relatives, due to which the sarpanch is not supporting them, alleged Rajesh. He feared that they could be harmed as the accused will now seek revenge from them.

Totally demoralized by his ongoing struggle, Rajesh said that his wife had literally held the feet of the police officers and pleaded for justice but still their heart did not melt.

The Tablighi seem to be involved in the conversion of the Dominion of Pakistan to the Islamic Republc of Pakistan? The role of the Ahrar in the Anti-Ahmadi riots of 1953 in Pakistan is documented in the Munir-Kayani report.

Report of the Court of Inquiry constituted under Punjab Act II of 1954 to enquire into the Punjab Disturbances of 1953
In political matters, they announced, they would follow the Muslim League. After this they began holding their conferences under the label of Tabligh Conferences, and a series of such conferences was held at Okara, Lyallpur, Maghiana, Chiniot, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Pind Dadan Khan, Jhelum, Shujabad, Burewala and Multan. The demand for the declaration of Ahmadis as a non-Muslim minority was first made at a conference in Rawalpindi and reiterated at a public meeting held at Pind Dadan Khan on 1st May 1949. After this, criticism of the founder of the Ahmadiya community and Chaudhri Zafrullah Khan became a regular feature of all Ahrar addresses and they began to feel that it was not necessary for them to seek the help of the Muslim League and that they could in future function as a separate party.

Justices Munir and Kayani did not pull punches in 1954. They mocked the Clerics. Imagine Pakistani Supreme Court Justices writing something like this today:
Historians have often posed the question: what would have been the state of the world today if Muawiya's siege of Constantinople had succeeded, or if the proverbial Arab instinct for plunder had not suddenly seized the mujahids of Abdur Rahman in their fight against Charles Martel on the plains of Tours in Southern France. Maybe Muslims would have discovered America long before Columbus did, and the entire world would have been Moslemised; maybe Islam itself would have been Europeanised. It is this brilliant achievement of the Arabian nomads, the like of which the world had never seen before, that makes the Musalman of today live in the past and yearn for the return of the glory that was Islam.
He finds himself standing on the crossroads, wrapped in the mantle of the past and with the dead weight of centuries on his back, frustrated and bewildered and hesitant to turn one corner or the other. The freshness and the simplicity of the faith, which gave determination to his mind and spring to his muscle, is now denied to him. He has neither the means nor the ability to conquer, and there are no countries to conquer. Little does he understand that the forces which are pitted against him are entirely different from those against which early Islam had to fight, and that on the clues given by his own ancestors, the human mind has achieved results which he cannot understand.
He therefore finds himself in a state of helplessness, waiting for someone to come and help him out of this morass of uncertainty and confusion. And he will go on waiting like this without anything happening. Nothing but a bold re-orientation of Islam, to separate the vital from the lifeless, can preserve it as a World Idea, and convert the Musalman into a citizen of the present and the future world, from the archaic incongruity that he is today.

South-African Muslim body says Eid can become Coronavirus super-spreader
https://www.opindia.com/2020/05/muslim- ... er-appeal/
The Muslim Judicial Council of South Africa (MJCSA) has alerted fellow Muslims to avoid the traditional gatherings and ceremonies stating that this Eid can be a potential super-spreader if the guidelines are not followed.

The council said that the community members will have to forego their usual practice of meeting for prayers at open spaces and their visit to cemeteries with family and friends.

The statement said, “Eid can potentially become a super-spreading event, which results in many more people dying, especially if people disobey lockdown regulations and start visiting family (as) it will lose its effect if people start visiting each other at home. Please avoid physically getting together as it puts yourself and your family at risk.”

S.C. Senate candidate accuses Spartanburg charter school of ’indoctrinating’ Islam, school asks for proof
https://www.goupstate.com/news/20200604 ... -for-proof

State Senate Candidate Mark Lynch says an Upstate charter school is "indoctrinating" the teachings of Islam in order to "destroy America," according to his campaign Facebook page.

The state’s Public Charter School District that oversees Green Charter’s four campuses in Spartanburg, Greenville and Irmo, along with 29 other publicly funded Charter schools, has asked the candidate for evidence so it can investigate.
When contacted by a reporter about the comments, Lynch hung up and did not answer or return a subsequent telephone call.

Lynch is challenging S.C. Sen. Scott Talley for the District 12 seat, which represents sections of Spartanburg and Greenville counties. The Republican primary election will be held Tuesday, June 9.

Turkish Ties

There are two Green Charter Schools in Greenville, one in Spartanburg, and another in Irmo. The Spartanburg school has 234 students. Overall, Green Charter serves 1,459 students.

Lynch claims that it’s also among the roughly 150 charter schools across the nation linked to Fethullah Gülen, a powerful religious leader from Turkey who’s currently wanted on charges that he instigated a failed coup there several years ago.

As a charismatic Muslim preacher, Gülen attracted a number of supporters and followers who have built a worldwide religious, social and nationalistic movement in his name.

Some of those followers have started charter schools across the U.S.

"Green charter schools are Fethullah Gullen (sic) schools that promote Islam and teach our children Sharia law," Lynch wrote on his on Facebook post. "Their goal is to indoctrinate our children at a young age so that they will convert to Islam. I will always be against Green charter school‘s, knowing that they are here to destroy America and Islam is a domestic enemy of America."

Lynch did not provide any supporting documentation. Taylor Fulcher, Chief of Staff with the South Carolina Public Charter School District, said this isn’t the first time somebody has accused the school of being tied to the Turkish leader.

Gülen schools, while generally high-performing, have faced backlash since they began cropping up in the late 1990s. Critics say the schools use tax money they obtain to operate the schools to advance Gülen’s agenda.

A 2014 article published in The Atlantic determined there to be no evidence that the nearly 120 Gülen charter schools in America include Islamic indoctrination in their curriculum.

But some of the schools have had other problems. In Utah, a financial probe launched by the Utah Schools Charter Board found the Beehive Science and Technology Academy, a Gülen-run charter school, to be nearly $350,000 in debt, according to The Atlantic.

A probe determined that the school’s money — public funds from the local community— was being donated to Gülen-affiliated organizations and used to pay the cost of bringing teachers to Utah from Turkey.

ECISD board member defends social media posts
Odessa American/Mark Rogers
https://www.oaoa.com/news/education/eci ... 11779.html
In the wake of what some say are offensive Facebook postings by Ector County ISD trustee Doyle Woodall, Mike Atkins, the attorney for the district says there isn’t much to be done.

There is an image of a hangman’s noose with words above it that say: “If we want to make America great again we will have to make evil people fear punishment again.”

Another has Nazi officers with the words “It’s not murder" above it and “Jews aren’t actually people” at the bottom and another photo of a pregnant woman and another woman with “It’s not murder” on top and “Babies aren’t actually people” on the bottom. Another shows a large groups of Muslims in prayer and says “Spill a few gallons of bacon grease on that street and it would clear out fast,” followed by three American flags.

The comment below says, “This is not Saudi Arabia … This is “Sweet Home” Birmingham, Alabama! Nervous yet?”

Atkins said Woodall, who commented on the memes himself and shared others, said Woodall can post that and still be a school board member. “It’s 1st Amendment,” Atkins said.

Kansas Republican group defends decision to invite speaker who compared Islam to cancer
https://www.kansascity.com/news/politic ... 44822.html
The organizer of a Republican event in western Kansas has defended the choice of an anti-Muslim keynote speaker — who compared Islam to cancer — at a gathering that will feature multiple candidates for the U.S. Senate and House later this month.

The Dodge City Republican Expo on June 27 will include appearances by three U.S. Senate candidates — Rep. Roger Marshall, former Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and former Johnson County Commissioner Dave Lindstrom — and a debate between two candidates to succeed Marshall in the heavily Republican 1st Congressional District, former Lt. Governor Tracey Mann and Finney County Commissioner Bill Clifford.

It will also feature a speech by John Bennett, a former Oklahoma state representative who called for the removal of U.S. mosques in 2017. He is now vice president of Understanding The Threat, a group that offers training to police departments on how “to dismantle the Marxist/communist and jihadi networks inside the United States,” according to its website.

The group’s hate message is not restricted to Muslims. According to CAIR, the founder of Understanding the Threat, former FBI agent John Guandolo, called Black Lives Matter a communist organization during a radio interview last week and said “we should round up the leaders and execute them for trying to revolt and overthrow the government.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office canceled a scheduled training from the group in 2014 at the urging of CAIR’s Kansas chapter.

Bennett has previously compared Islam to cancer and distributed a questionnaire to Muslim students asking them to answer if they beat their wives before he would agree to meet with them.

Laura Tawater, the president of the Wild West Republican Women’s Club and the 1st District Republican vice chair who organized the expo, has rejected the request to cancel Bennett.

“We look forward to having John Bennett with Understanding The Threat come out and speak to Kansas Republicans about the threat of communism in our country. He will be talking about the current riots and its connection to the communist and Islamic movement and their strategic plan to subvert America,” Tawater said in an email Monday.

She noted Bennett’s background as a Marine veteran and sponsor of legislation to enable the 10 Commandments to be displayed at the Oklahoma State Capitol.

“It is a shame how much backlash and ridiculous demands we receive from groups who are outraged by us practicing free political speech that differs from theirs. We believe we are doing the right thing and will continue to move forward.”

England: 14-year-old boy from Hampshire charged with plotting Islamic terror attack

The police officials arrested the boy last week Friday from Hampshire Constabulary and the juvenile was later held under custody section 41 of the Terrorism Act by CTPSE sleuths.

https://www.opindia.com/2020/06/england ... or-attack/

“The arrest of the boy in Hampshire on charges of Islamic terrorism might concern the community of Eastleigh but Hampshire Constabulary have been working closely with colleagues in Counter Terrorism Policing South East on this investigation and we want to reassure you that the case is an isolated one with no known wider risk to the community,” the statement released by the CTPSE said.

The Countless George Floyds Of Bangladesh That The World Turns A Blind Eye To
https://swarajyamag.com/world/the-count ... ind-eye-to
A fortnight ago, Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamim Hasan of Kotalipara Police Station in Bangladesh’s Gopalganj district pinned Nikhil Talukdar to the ground with his knees and broke his spinal cord. Talukdar, 32, died the next day (3 June).

Though separated by thousands of miles, the unfortunate deaths of Talukdar and George Floyd in Minneapolis (Minnesota) were similar. But while Floyd’s killing triggered outrage spanning continents, Talukdar’s has become just a statistic. This is the shameful, heart-rending and continuing saga of persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Looters chant 'Allahu Akbar' during Stuttgart's worst ever riots that turned the city into 'a battlefield'
Looters shouted 'Allahu Akbar' as they ransacked shops in Stuttgart on Saturday night and most of those arrested came from a 'migrant background', it has emerged.

Yobs attacked police with stones and bottles after a German teenager was arrested for a drugs offence in clashes which quickly escalated into the city's worst-ever night of rioting.

Of the 24 people arrested, 12 were foreign nationals while three of the other 12 were German nationals with a migrant background, police announced at a press conference on Sunday.

Hans-Jürgen Kirstein, the head of a police union, told Bild that 'young people with a migration background were at the front of the riots'.

It's not surprising that the fans of Islamophobia have been flamed in The Tennessean and other media outlets just as Americans reawaken to the grave injustices in our society.

What the world loses, as the Hajj takes a pandemic pause
Sheema Khan
Special to The Globe and Mail
Published June 25, 2020
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion ... mic-pause/

This week, the Saudi government announced that, due to the coronavirus, only a few thousand local residents will be allowed to perform the hajj pilgrimage, effectively cancelling one of the main pillars of Islam. the hajj, which usually draws 2.5 million people worldwide, is incumbent on every able-bodied, adult Muslim who is able to afford the journey.

The Saudi announcement has been met with sadness, not only for the loss of a timeless ritual, but also for the lost opportunity for pilgrims – some of whom have waited patiently to participate in the journey of a lifetime.

Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government analyzed the impact of the hajj in 2008, based on a random sampling of more than 1,600 Pakistani Muslims who had applied for a hajj visa. They compared the attitudes of those who received the visa (and thus performed the hajj) with those who did not. Researchers found that the hajj led to more favourable attitudes toward women, including greater acceptance of female education and employment. The Pakistani hajjis also demonstrated increased belief in peace, and harmony toward different ethnic groups, Islamic sects, and adherents of different religions.

Perhaps one of the most famous transformations occurred in 1964, as described by Malcolm X in his letter from Mecca. Previously, Malcolm had broken from the Nation of Islam. While the group advocated Black self-sufficiency, it espoused a strident anti-white ideology. Yet, while performing hajj, Malcolm X wrote: “Never have I witnessed such sincere hospitality and overwhelming spirit of true brotherhood … They were of all colours, from blue-eyed blondes to black-skinned Africans. But we were all participating in the same ritual, displaying a spirit of unity and brotherhood that my experiences in America had led me to believe never could exist between the white and non-white … I could see from this, that perhaps if white Americans could accept the Oneness of God, then perhaps, too, they could accept in reality the Oneness of Man – and cease to measure, and hinder, and harm others in terms of their ‘differences’ in colour.” His experience caused him to change his own views on race, reflecting the words of Prophet Muhammad: “There is no superiority for an Arab over a non-Arab, nor for a non-Arab over an Arab. Neither is the white superior over the black, nor is the black superior over the white – except by piety.”

Pakistan: Maulana threatens China after Chinese companies ban Pakistani employees from offering namaz
https://www.opindia.com/2020/06/pakista ... ssion=true
A Pakistani maulana has threatened China and asked the Chinese companies to follow the law of the land after various Chinese companies ban Pakistani employees from offering namaz, the Islamic prayer. In a video that has gone viral on social media, a visibly upset maulana can be heard threatening China to not interfere in their religion.

“Un Chinese ko bolo yeh unke baap ka mulk nahin hai (tell those Chinese this is not their country,” he could be heard saying. “When some people gather and protest, they’d be scared. Then even their father will let you offer namaz. Today morning someone was asking that they’re afraid of losing job and hence can’t protest against Chinese companies for stopping namaz. This is our country, not their daddy’s. When we go to their country, we follow the rules,” he said.

You have to make people respect you. “Make them realise that ‘you have come here, you are the real guest’. You will work as per our laws. Then they will let you offer namaz,” he can be heard saying. It is unclear when the video has been shot and if it is a recent threat to China over reports of namaz being banned.

As per reports, many Chinese companies in Pakistan have disallowed its Pakistani employees from offering namaz, one of the five basic tenets of Islam. A video shared by Twitter user Farah Khan reveals how one Pakistani employee of a company was beaten up by his employers for allegedly offering namaz.

Construction of Hindu temple in Islamabad is against Islam and an insult to Islamic kingdom: Pakistan assembly speaker
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/hindu-t ... er-punjab/
Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi from Pakistan’s Punjab province on Wednesday made a shocking remark against the construction of a temple in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad claiming that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam and construction of a new temple in Islamabad was not only against the spirit of Islam but also an insult to the ‘Madina Riayasat’, a reference to the Islamic welfare state that Pakistan aspires to be.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi strongly opposed the construction of Hindu temple saying that it is not only against the spirit of Islam but is also an insult to the Islamic State of Pakistan. He reportedly added that after the victory of Mecca, Hazrat Muhammad along with Hazrat Ali broke 360 idols in Baitullah Sharif and said, “Haq Aya Aur Batil Mit Gaya Baishak Batil Mitney Wala Tha.”

“Pakistan was made in the name of Islam and building another Hindu temple in the capital is against the soul of Islam,” said Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi.

The proposed temple at Islamabad was to be the first temple to be built in the Pakistani capital city ever since Islamic country came into existence in 1947. The Islamabad city authorities had allocated a 20,000 sqft plot for the construction of the temple.

Following the decision of Pakistan government to build the temple in Islamabad, Mufti Zia-ud-Din of the Lahore chapter of Jamia Ashrafia, a leading cleric in Pakistan has issued a “fatwa” against the construction of the temple, calling it “un-Islamic”.

Bangladesh: Video of Muslims destroying fence of 200-year-old Hindu temple goes viral on social media
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/banglad ... deo-viral/
On Monday, the bamboo fence bordering a 200-year-old Shiva temple and a privately owned land was destroyed by miscreants in the Dighirjan village of Pirojpur district in the Barisal Division of Bangladesh, reported Bangladesh Darpan.

The video of the incident has since gone viral on social media. In the video, a man dressed in blue can be seen breaking the fence with a stick. “Viewers, see how Hindus are being persecuted here. We are staying here for ages but they are now destroying our fence. Look at the law and order situation in the country under the Awami League government,” a Hindu person was heard as saying. Another person, in the background, said that the vandalism was an ‘act of loot’ and a malicious attempt to hurt their sentiments. Inspired by the actions of the miscreant, another man, dressed in red, began to vandalise the property.

Pakistanis are shocked that Turkish actress does not cover herself head-to-toe in real life like her role in TV show Ertugrul, slams for wearing modern clothes
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/turkish ... -dressing/
In the absence of a local Islamic ‘hero’ and a long-standing identity crisis, Pakistanis have been searching for their roots in Turkey now. The TV series, ‘Ertugrul’ has received an overwhelming response in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In a conservative society ridden with illiteracy, orthodoxy and skewed understanding of ‘modesty’, Pakistanis have time and again failed to distinguish between ‘real’ and ‘reel life’.

A glimpse of the regressive mindset that dominates the patriarchal society of Pakistan was on full display, in the comment section of the Turkish actress Esra Bilgiç. Her mistake was that she played the role of Halime Hatun in Ertugrul. It came as a ‘culture shock’ to Pakistanis when they discovered that the actress was distinct in her personal life from the role that she played in the TV series.

Sudan will scrap alcohol ban, apostasy law, and end flogging
https://m.startribune.com/sudan-will-sc ... 571746822/
Sudan will allow non-Muslims to consume alcohol, get rid of its apostasy law and abolish the use of public flogging as a punishment as its transitional government eases decades of strict Islamist policies.

The government had already moved to ban the genital cutting of women, a measure that is coming into effect now.

After taking power in 1989, Bashir extended Islamic rule and introduced public order laws that criminalized a wide array of activities and behaviors, including drinking alcohol and wearing revealing clothes for women. Those who contravened the rules faced prison time, fines and public lashing. Rights organizations said the laws were "oppressive," giving authorities extensive powers to make arbitrary arrests, particularly of women.

The apostasy rules in particular drew worldwide condemnation after a pregnant woman was sentenced to death in 2014 for renouncing Islam. The woman, Meriam Ibrahim, gave birth while she was in prison and was later released after organizations, including Amnesty International, campaigned for her.

Bangladesh: Islamists dig up the grave of an Ahmadi newborn and throw the corpse on the road because she was ‘infidel’
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/banglad ... rd-sharia/

On Saturday, the leaders of the Ahmadi community in Bangladesh reportedly accused radical Islamists of digging up the grave of a newborn baby and dumping the corpse on the roadside. The infant was buried in a government-owned cemetery on Thursday in Ghatura in Sadar Upazila in the Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh.

The Ahmadis have been the subject of religious persecution in the Islamic Republics of Bangladesh and Pakistan because of the belief that their founder was the Prophet. About 1 lac Ahmadis in Bangladesh have reportedly been attacked. In recent months, Muslim fundamentalists threatened authorities to declare them as non- Muslims.

BlueLeaks: Inside Cops’ Islamophobic Counterdrug Training
https://filtermag.org/blueleaks-counter ... hobia/amp/
Videos on “Middle Eastern crime culture and communtiy” shown at the March 2014 class were “very informative,” another survey respondent wrote, before adding a comment that implicitly denigrated Muslims and the Global South, while valorizing Christianity and the United States. “I wish the American public could have to their eyes opened to what is happening and realize how blessed we are to live in this country and to be able openly worship a sovergein [sic] God and practice Christianity.”

Some instructors seemed to peddle far-right conspiracies about Islamist “terrorists” invading the United States.

“I strongly liked the presentation on radical Muslim Training camps in America,” wrote a student in 2013. “Strongly recommend this course to all law enforcement and even regular citizens as an eye opener to whats is going on in their back yards ie. a muslim training camp 2 hours away next to Binghampton NY.”

Another example in a September 2014 instruction saw narcoterroism instructor’s personal Islamophobic conspiracy integrated into a class. He “seemed to be airing his ‘pet peeves’” about “Islamic organizations” that “apparently operate or have a presence in his local law enforcement area of operations,” wrote a student. The instructor alleged a “disjointed association between Islamic organizations and organized crime/narcotic,” stating “how bad these guys were and that they were tied to other criminal activity.”

Police may drop term ‘Islamist’ when describing terror attacks
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/poli ... -7pjsf8pn7

The police are looking at dropping the terms “Islamist terrorism” and “jihadis” when describing attacks by those who claim Islam as their motive.

Proposed alternatives include “faith-claimed terrorism”, “terrorists abusing religious motivations” and “adherents of Osama bin Laden’s ideology”.

The reform was requested by a Muslim police organisation that blamed the official use of “Islamist” and “jihadi” for negative perceptions and stereotypes, discrimination and Islamophobia.

The problem was discussed at an online event last month addressed by Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the national head of counterterrorism policing, and attended by more than 70 attack survivors, victims’ relatives, academics, experts and advocacy groups. The police emphasised to The Times that the reform was not certain to go ahead.

Letter: Zakat will help restore economic justice
https://www.middletownpress.com/opinion ... 424069.php
To the Editor:

Economic inequity continues to widen in America, and it’s hurting the underprivileged the most. Our obsession with capitalism and consumerism keeps financially gratifying the rich at the cost of indebting the poor. Money is largely monopolized by banks where loan interest not only destroys credit scores but hard-working families.

We have to do better, before it gets worse. Debts desperately need to be removed, even forgiven as charity. Interest must be replaced with a lending model of collective gain and loss. Hoarding excessive amounts of money without investing it should be penalized. Such funds could be redistributed to alleviate the poor.

Believe it or not, this is the very system of Zakat that Islam prescribed and Muslims practiced 1,400 years ago. Today, economist Thomas Piketty and politician Elizabeth Warren agree that this approach is the only way out of our current mess. They call it marginalized wealth tax, but Muslims have called it Zakat since the seventh century.

Islam visualizes a liberal economic model that permits collaborative building of wealth, but also gives a mechanism for redistributing surplus to the underprivileged through Zakat. It’s the equalizing antithesis to the greed of interest.

The Qur’an reveals: “Whatever you pay as interest that it may increase the wealth of the people, it does not increase in the sight of Allah; but whatever you give in Zakat seeking the favour of Allah — it is these who will increase their wealth manifold.”

Zakat would reduce the current level of inequality and reconcile capital and labor. It turns out Islamic civilization still has a lot to offer in economic prosperity and financial ethics.

Muslim grooming gangs in UK justfied rape for violation of Islamic rules
https://www.opindia.com/2020/07/muslim- ... ails-rape/
In a shocking interview with the Triggernometry, rape survivor Dr. Ella Hill has revealed that at least half a million Non-Muslim (Kaffir) girls have been raped by grooming gangs, operated by Muslim men in the United Kingdom, in the past 40 years. The interview was conducted by two comedians, Konstantin Kisin and Francis Foster.

Recounting her tale of horror from 20 years ago, Hill informed that she was targeted as a teenager by her Pakistani Muslim boyfriend. She said that the relationship soon turned into a ‘controlling, obsessive, and religiously charged’ one. She reminisced about being taken to different flats around Rotherham, Sheffield, and Bradford and subsequently raped, tortured, and strangled. “You know (I) was covered in bruises that lasted over a year.” Her Pakistani boyfriend also threatened to kill her and her parents if she confided in them, the harrowing tale of brutality. As such, she was coerced into silence.

When she tried to run away from her perpetrator, he stalked her and then barged into her house. The Pakistani man tried to execute an ‘honour killing’ along with his friends but Hill survived to tell the story. She was hospitalised for a week and had suffered multiple fractures and lacerations. Her only way out from the Pakistani grooming gang was to change her name, shift somewhere else, and start life afresh. “At that point, the police told my parents to move me away and change my name which is what they did.. and that’s how I got out of it,” Hill narrated.

Modus Operandi of the grooming gangs

Dr Ella Hill defines the activities of the grooming gangs as ‘racially and religiously aggravated rape’, perpetrated by a group or network. She revealed that the grooming gangs primarily target underage girls but also victimise young and old women. “Well, it’s all over the UK. There are a lot of different towns that have been named as being involved. There’s Burnley, Blackburn, (and even) Oxford. Really, there are very few major cities that haven’t had some sort of grooming gang scandal.”

She then reiterated that there have been half a million victims of grooming gangs in the UK alone in the last 40 years. “And it’s predominantly white victims and the perpetrators are predominantly Asian Muslim,” Hill emphasised. On being asked as to why the issue has not been raised to the status of a ‘national scandal’, she stated that there have been multiple reports about crimes committed by the Muslim grooming gangs and that it was indeed a national scandal.

The medical practitioner informed that the National Crime Agency in the UK have been investigating historic cases related to grooming gangs for the past 15 years. She highlighted, “I think maybe about 20-25 perpetrators have been brought to justice in Rotherham and over 1000 under investigation by the National Crime Agency in Operation Stovewood in the South.”

Grooming gang crimes motivated by racial prejudice

Shedding pretentious nuances surrounding discussions related to race and religion, Dr. Elisa Hill emphasised, “A lot of it has to do with race and religion. A lot of people don’t like talking about it or they don’t like to hear about it.” She reiterated that crimes committed by the grooming gangs are motivated by religious and racial prejudice against the victim.

She narrated, “When I was being beaten, I was called a white slag, white whore and white cunt (sic).” Dr. Hill pointed out that her white skin was always on the mind of her Muslim perpetrator.
