Blasphemy Accused Elderly Man Who Was Shot Dead Inside Pakistan Court Was American Citizen, Says US
https://swarajyamag.com/news-brief/blas ... en-says-us
According to the statement issued late Thursday by the US State department, the deceased Tahir Ahmad Naseem was “lured to Pakistan” from his home in Illinois and entrapped by the country’s blasphemy laws. However, the statement did not elaborate on the circumstances in which he came to be in Pakistan.

As per an earlier report, the deceased Tahir Ahmad Naseem was arrested two years ago on the charges of blasphemy for claiming to be a prophet and was being brought to the court from Peshawar Central Jail. He died on the spot after being shot six times in the court of Additional Session Judge Shaukatullah Khan.

A lawyer, present inside in the courtroom, was quoted by the report as saying, “During the hearing of the case, the complainant said that the accused was an Ahmadi and asked him to recite the Kalima-e-Tayyaba.” After this the complainant fired at the elderly man and killed him.

The accused was arrested from the high security court complex and he later reportedly told police that Prophet Muhammad had ordered him to kill Nasim because he had belonged to the Ahmadi faith.

Three women take state's Kids Dept to court, claiming discrimination
https://www.delawarepublic.org/post/thr ... rimination
Three Muslim women are suing Delaware’s Department of Services of Children, Youth, and their Families for discrimination, including prohibiting them from wearing a hijab at work.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Wilmington-based law firm of Jacobs and Crumplar are representing Tia Mays, Madinah Brown, and Shakeya Thomas in the suit.

Last year, Brown filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Delaware Department of Labor saying she faced discrimination because she wasn’t allowed to practice her Muslim faith by wearing a hijab, or a head covering worn by some Muslim women. Brown had worked at the New Castle County Detention Center since 2012.

Both Mays and Thomas have since come forward with the same complaints.

In Mays’ case, she says she was working at the Ferris School Boys for a couple of weeks when she was presented a packet with the dress code highlighted, specifically no head coverings, no hat, or scarf on the head.

Nigerian singer sentenced to death by Sharia Court for blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad
https://www.opindia.com/2020/08/nigeria ... mmad-song/
A musician from the northern state of Kano in Nigeria has been sentenced to death by hanging for blasphemy by a Sharia Court. According to a report published by BBC, 22-year-old Yahaya Sharif-Aminu was found guilty of committing blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad. One of his songs were circulated via WhatsApp in March in which he had praised Imam from Tijaniya Muslim brotherhood. He allegedly said that the Imam was above Prophet Muhammad.

An upper Sharia court in the Hausawa Filin Hockey area sentenced him to death by hanging. Aminu had denied the charges against him. Judge Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani added in his judgment that Aminu could appeal against the verdict. In the states across northern Nigeria have both Secular and Sharia laws. The non-Muslims are not covered under Sharia Law. In 1999, Sharia Law was introduced in Nigeria. Since then, only one death sentence passed by the Sharia court has been carried out.

‘Be a good wife’: 14-year-old Christian girl Maria Shahbaz, abducted and converted to Islam, to be returned to her abductor, rules Lahore HC
https://www.opindia.com/2020/08/pakista ... good-wife/
The persecution of religious minorities is rampant in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In a shocking decision, the Lahore High Court has ruled in favour of a Muslim perpetrator who abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and married an underage Christian girl called Maria Shahbaz.

Reportedly, a 14-year-old Christian girl, Maria Shahbaz, was abducted in Faisalabad in Pakistan in April 2020 by Muhammad Naqash and his accomplice while she was travelling to her workplace. The Lahore High Court has recently overturned the verdict of a Sessions Court in Faisalabad which had directed that the victim is rehabilitated in a woman’s shelter home. Ruling in favour of Muhammed Naqash, the Lahore High Court ordered that the 14-year-old girl should be returned to the man who abducted her.

Bahrain: Police Initiate Action After A Viral Video Emerges Of Burqa Clad Woman Destroying Hindu Murtis In A Store
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/bahrain-p ... in-a-store
After a disturbing video of a burqa-clad woman breaking murtis of Lord Ganesha in a store went viral on social media, Bahrain's Ministry Of Interior has ordered a legal action.

The official Twitter account of the ministry said legal action is being initiated against a 54-year old woman for damaging a shop in Juffair in an attempt to defame a sect and its rituals. It also added that she has been referred to Public Prosecution.

In the video, two burka-clad women are seen near an aisle where murtis of Hindu gods are displayed on the shelf. One of the women later picks up the idols and then throws it on the floor and breaks it.

Though Islam is the state religion in Bahrain, it enjoys a reputation for reasonable level of religious tolerance and promoting a pluralistic outlook between diverse cultures and faiths. Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the previous monarch of Bahrain was widely regarded as an inclusive ruler.

With a huge Indian diaspora, Bahrain is home to many Hindu temples including Shreenathji (Krishna) temple, Bahrain’s oldest, dating back nearly 200 years and few Ayyappa temples.

Seventy years after Jogendra Nath Mandal decided to return from Pakistan over atrocities on Hindus, his prophecies have come true
https://www.opindia.com/2020/08/pakista ... es-letter/
Incidents of atrocities against Hindus in Pakistan

In his letter to Prime Minister Khan, JN Mandal cited a series of incidents where Hindus and other minorities were persecuted by the Islamists in several communal riots that took place after partition. He mentions about an incident that took place at a village called Digharkul near Gopalganj, where on the false complaint of a Muslim, brutal atrocities were committed on the local Namasudras. He writes how authorities accepted the complaint made by Muslims as true and sent armed police to the spot to punish the Namasudra Dalits. This brutal action on the part of the local authority created panic over a large area.

“The second incident of police repression took place in the early part of 1949 under P.S. Gournadi in the district of Barisal. Here a quarrel took place between two groups of members of a Union Board. One Group which was in the good book of the Police conspired to punish the opponents on the plea of the attack on the Police Station… The Police, helped by the armed forces, then raided a large number of houses in the area, took away valuable properties, even from the houses of absentee-owners who were never in politics, far less in the Communist Party,” writes JN Mandal.

Mandal says, he wrote to the District Magistrate and the SP for an enquiry, but his letters to the District authorities were not acknowledged. I then brought this matter to the notice of the highest Authority in Pakistan, including yourself but to no avail, he adds.

He continues, “The atrocities perpetrated by the police and military on the innocent Hindus, especially the Scheduled Caste of Harbinger in the Dist. of Sleet deserve description. Innocent men and women were brutally tortured, some women ravished, their houses raided and properties looted by the police and the local Muslims.”.

As per Mandal, the military not only oppressed these people and took away stuff forcibly from Hindus houses, but also forced Hindus to send their women-folk at night to the camp to satisfy the carnal desire of the military. Mandal says despite appraising the matter to Prime Minister, no action was forthcoming.

Xinjiang: China razes Uyghur mosque, builds public toilet on the site
https://www.opindia.com/2020/08/china-x ... -atrocity/
The attack on Uyghur culture in China continues as China has now reportedly built a public toilet on the site where a Mosque once stood in Suntagh village, Atush (in Chinese, Atushi) city in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), northwest China, as per a report in Radio Free Asia. In the past few years, China has been hell-bent on breaking the spirit of Uyghur Muslims.

As per reports, in 2016, directives were issued to destroy Muslim places of worship. The destruction of the Tokul mosque along with a few other mosques in the area was part of the drive. Now the reports have emerged that the local authorities have erected a restroom on the site.

Xi Jinping’s “mosque rectification” drive is a small part of policies against Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities in China. In an interview conducted by Radio Free Asia, Uyghur neighbourhood committee chief from Suntagh village in Atush said the mosque was torn down in 2018. The “Han comrades” have now constructed a toilet in the place. “It’s a public toilet … they haven’t opened it yet, but it’s built,” he added.

‘No role of consent in marriage and slavery’: Video of Canadian Islamic cleric Shabir Ally justifying marital rape, sex slavery in Islam goes viral
https://www.opindia.com/2020/08/canada- ... interview/
In a video that has now gone viral on social media, a Muslim cleric in Canada can be seen justifying ‘marital rape’ in the context of Islam. The cleric is Shabir Ally, a Canada-based Islamic scholar and Imam.

Although the contentious video titled, ‘The Historical Roots of Female Slavery’ dates back to September 2016, it was recently shared on social media by the Twitter handle named ‘Ex-Muslims of North America.’ In the said video, Shabbir Ally discussed at length about ‘women’s right to consent in marriage’, ‘sex slavery in Islam’, and the implication of religious beliefs in ISIS.

Sweden: Enraged Mob Throws Stones At Police, Burns Tyres Over 'Anti-Islam' Activities
https://swarajyamag.com/insta/sweden-en ... activities
Angered by 'anti-Islam' activities of Swedish far-right extremists, a mob on Friday (28 August) threw stones at police and burned tyres on the streets in southern Sweden.

At least 300 people had gathered to protest against anti-Islam activities in Malmo, a Swedish city, reports WION.

The violence was connected to an incident earlier in the day in which another group of protesters burned a copy of the Islamic holy book at an event.

The event was to be attended by Rasmus Paludan, a far-right Danish anti-immigration party leader.

However, the Swedish authorities pre-empted Paludan's arrival and to stop his participation in the event announced a ban on him from entering Sweden for two year. The Danish activist was later arrested near Malmo.

Following Paludan's arrest, the far-right leader's followers burnt a copy of the Islamic holy book at the Malmo event.

‘We will never give up,’ victims of Islamic terrorism Charlie Hebdo to republish cartoons on prophet Mohammed
https://www.opindia.com/2020/09/charlie ... -cartoons/
Charlie Hebdo has decided to republish cartoons of prophet Mohammed that had caused Islamic Terrorists to launch a terror attack against them in 2015 as trial against the perpetrators gets underway. “We will never lie down. We will never give up,” its director Laurent “Riss” Sourisseau said in an editorial to be published along with the cartoons in the latest edition.

“We have often been asked since January 2015 to print other caricatures of Muhammad,” the editorial team of Charlie Hebdo wrote. “We have always refused to do so, not because it is prohibited — the law allows us to do so — but because there was a need for a good reason to do it, a reason which has meaning and which brings something to the debate.”

FBI’s ‘10 Most Wanted’ fugitive accused in teen daughters’ ‘honor killings’ captured after 12 years
https://www.fox23.com/news/trending/fbi ... IINRPPPFU/

IRVING, Texas — Yaser Abdel Said took his teenage daughters for something to eat in his taxi cab on New Year’s Day 2008, in Irving, Texas. The girls ended up dead, the victims of alleged “honor killings” at the hands of their father.

The Egyptian-born Said, who has been on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted List since 2014, was captured Wednesday about 35 miles away in the tiny city of Justin. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail on capital murder charges in the deaths of Amina Yaser Said, 18, and 17-year-old Sarah Yaser Said.

He also faces federal charges of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution in the case, which for more than a decade has garnered national attention. A documentary about the killings titled “The Price of Honor” was released in 2016.

“The FBI-led Dallas Violent Crimes Task Force has worked tirelessly to find Yaser Abdel Said,” Matthew DeSarno, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Dallas field office, said in a statement. “These experienced investigators never gave up on their quest to find him and pledged to never forget the young victims in this case.

“His capture and arrest bring us one step closer to justice for Amina and Sarah.”

Two of Said’s relatives have been arrested and charged with helping him to avoid capture. His son, Islam Said, 32, and his brother, Yassein Said, 59, are each charged with harboring a fugitive.

Federal agents are still looking for anyone else who might have helped Yaser Said hide over the past 12 years.
....
The girls’ mother, Patricia Owens, told the Dallas Morning News on Wednesday that she had no idea where her former husband had been hiding. She also disputed allegations that the girls were victims of “honor killings,” apparently contradicting her initial statements to police.
....
Yaser Said is Muslim, while the siblings’ mother, who was just 15 when she married the then-29-year-old Said, was raised Southern Baptist.
....
Patricia Said told police her husband had threatened “bodily harm” against Sarah Said for dating a non-Muslim boy, the AP reported. The terrified mother had fled with the girls in the week before the killings because she was “in great fear for her life,” police said.
....

The News reported that the 2008 double homicide was not the first time Yaser Said allegedly showed a propensity for violence. In 1998, his daughters accused him of sexually abusing them.

Owens, then still married to Said, swore in an affidavit that the allegations were true, the newspaper said.

The girls later recanted their statements and the charges against Yaser Said were dropped.

The violence and threats of harm continued, according to friends of the sisters. One friend told the News that Sarah Said once told her their father threatened to “put a bullet through Amina (Said’s) head” when he learned she had a boyfriend.

Amina Said showed up at Lewisville High School with welts on her body, a friend told the newspaper. The teen also claimed her father had kicked her in the head when he found notes from a boy in her belongings.

“We both felt like what we had was very real and it was very much worth fighting for,” Moreno said in an interview. “And to her, it was worth dying for.”
....
Said, who had ties in Texas, New York City, Virginia, Canada and Egypt, was believed to be seeking shelter in Egyptian-affiliated communities, the FBI said.
.....
DeSarno said Wednesday that it was not a tip from the public that finally led agents to Said’s location in Justin.

“What led us there was good old-fashioned, aggressive police work,” DeSarno said.

His son and his brother were captured in Euless, about 10 miles west of Irving, the FBI agent said.

Judge tosses lawsuit against college for Islamist violence course that offended Muslim student
https://www.thecollegefix.com/judge-tos ... m-student/
An Arizona federal court has dismissed a lawsuit alleging anti-Islam hostility in an Arizona community college course.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations brought the suit on behalf of Mohamed Sabra, a student in Prof. Nicholas Damask’s 100-level world politics course at Scottsdale Community College. It claimed that a module entitled “Islamic Terrorism” unconstitutionally disapproved of and was hostile toward Islam.

“Examining the course as a whole, a reasonable, objective observer would conclude that the teaching’s primary purpose was not the inhibition of religion,” U.S. District Judge Susan Brnovich ruled. “Curriculum that merely conflicts with a student’s religious beliefs does not violate the Free Exercise Clause.”
....
While Sabra alleged that he was “forced to choose between denouncing his religion by selecting the ‘correct’ answer” or receiving a lower grade on a quiz, Brnovich countered that Sabra only had to “demonstrate an understanding of the material taught.”

The student was not “required to adopt the views expressed by Dr. Damask or the authors Dr. Damask cited to in his course,” and the professor did not inhibit Sabra’s personal worship at any point in his classroom.
....
A high-profile critic of radical Islam expressed a less sanguine view. “[A]s a campaign of intimidation, [the lawsuit] has already served a great deal of its purpose,” Robert Spencer wrote at Jihad Watch. Brnovich’s ruling “is not a huge defeat” for CAIR “and others who are trying to intimidate the West into accepting Sharia blasphemy laws.”
...
A high-profile critic of radical Islam expressed a less sanguine view. “[A]s a campaign of intimidation, [the lawsuit] has already served a great deal of its purpose,” Robert Spencer wrote at Jihad Watch. Brnovich’s ruling “is not a huge defeat” for CAIR “and others who are trying to intimidate the West into accepting Sharia blasphemy laws.”
....
Brnovich’s ruling threw out the claims from CAIR’s Arizona affiliate, saying the Muslim advocacy group has no standing to sue. It lacks any evidence that its organizational mission has been frustrated or that significant resources had to be diverted in order to pursue this lawsuit.

CAIR-AZ has “not established a concrete and demonstrable injury” or demonstrated how “hiring a religious scholar to create materials to advocate against Islamophobic information” – as it did in response to Damask’s quiz – “is anything out of the realm of the normal advocacy that they do,” the judge concluded. (The national CAIR is designated a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates.)
...
The damage has already been done regardless of the ruling in favor of the defendants, Jihad Watch’s Spencer wrote.

The lawsuit “has blackened the reputation of Nicholas Damask and of Scottsdale Community College,” he said. It has also made administrators “nervous that teaching that is critical of Islam, even accurate teaching about jihad violence and Sharia oppression, will get them embroiled in costly and time-consuming court battles.”

The lesson they have learned is: “Better to leave the subject alone, or praise Islam fulsomely.” For CAIR and its allies, Spencer said, “Mission accomplished.”

Academic Freedom Upheld: Case Dismissed involving Phares’ Book, ‘Future Jihad’
https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/5257024 ... ture-jihad
The ruling held that merely being exposed to ideas which are contrary to a student’s own, and being asked to demonstrate an understanding of those ideas, does not in any way constitute harm. It is, in fact, a central object of education. The ruling states:

"Examining the course as a whole, a reasonable, objective observer would conclude that the teaching’s primary purpose was not the inhibition of religion. The offending component was only a part of one-sixth of the course and taught in the context of explaining terrorism. One aspect of terrorism is “Islamic terrorism.” Only in picking select quotes from the course can one describe the module as anti-Islam. Dr. Damask also quotes Peter Bergen for the view that the terrorist threat comes from radical terror groups that represent a “twisted” variant of Islam as a whole. Further, as Plaintiff’s counsel misstated in oral argument, Question 19 of Dr. Damask’s quiz on terrorism states: “Walid Phares notes that although ‘gullible’ Westerners are taught that jihad can have two meanings, people in the Arabic world understand that its overwhelmingly obvious meaning is______.” (Doc. 1, Ex. 3). This question merely asks students to identify the opinion of Walid Phares regarding Islam, not to adopt his position on Islam.

"Thus, the Court finds that the primary effect of Dr. Damask’s course is not the inhibition of the practice of Islam. Therefore, the Plaintiffs’ Establishment Clause claims must be dismissed pursuant to Rule 12(b)(6)."

“Besides,” said Imam Mohammed Hajj Hassan of Detroit, “Dr Walid Phares has no position regarding any religion, including Islam. He doesn’t write on theology. His books and articles address a political and ideological movement, a very specific one, the Islamists, otherwise known as Jihadists.” He added, “But CAIR, a political movement, wants to politicize academia and claim the issue is about the core of a religion, which it is not. It is about history in the Middle East, which they want to be interpreted based on their ideological agenda. Phares said that most people in the region know exactly what Jihad is, it is embedded in history and argued that the way that concept is taught in the West is different. CAIR wants to impose its own interpretation on the classroom. The professor wanted to present multiple views. The court understood it was about freedom of thought not religion.”

The court also ruled that the Council on American Islamic Relations had no standing to sue. It is well known that CAIR was formed as a front group for the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas in the U.S., although they pose as a human rights organization. They are listed as a terrorist organization by the United Arab Emirates.

“If somehow CAIR had won this lawsuit,” said AMCD co-chair, John Hajjar, “one part of the Constitution (guaranteeing freedom of religion) would be used to suppress another freedom – freedom of speech. This is clearly not what the Founders envisioned.”

“Freedom of thought is essential for the full flowering of human potential,” added AMCD co-chair, Tom Harb. “All ideas, including religious ideas, must be subject to examination and debate. Without this essential freedom, human progress is impossible.”

“I am very pleased by this ruling, even if it did involve a slight misunderstanding of my work,” remarked Dr. Phares. “I am very gratified that academic freedom was protected by the court.”

Pakistan: Christian man in Lahore sentenced to death under blasphemy laws for ‘anti-Islam’ text messages
https://www.opindia.com/2020/09/pakista ... ws-lahore/
On Tuesday, a Pakistani court in Lahore convicted a Christian man to death under the controversial ‘blasphemy’ law.

According to the reports, the Lahore Session Court sentenced 37-year-old Asif Pervaiz Masih for insulting Islam and sending ‘blasphemous’ texts to a former supervisor at work. Masih was arrested in 2013 for alleged blasphemy.

Asif’s lawyer Saif-ul-Malook said that the complainant in the case filed against Asif Masih was working as a supervisor in a hosiery factory and Asif was working under him. Denying the allegations against Masih, Malook said that the supervisor was trying to get Asif to convert to Islam.

Asif, who is accused of insulting Islam, said he was confronted by his boss after he quit the factory job.

I know this is history but we never read about the horrific abuse perpetuated by Islamic rulers on India - beyond genocides and famines. They were blatant child abusers and traffickers. This is from Wikipedia no less so it's obviously quite watered down unlike accounts like Avarana. That is why even today, such actions are rampant in the seminary schools across the sub continent. In Hyderabad a famous politicians family used to be involved with the underage girl temporary marriages. It was just what they did openly. What this group did is worse than Western slavery.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khusrau_Khan
According to the Delhi chronicler Amir Khusrau, Khusrau Khan and his brother belonged to a Hindu military caste or group called Baradu.[1] In 1305, during the reign of Alauddin Khalji, they were captured when the Delhi forces led by Ayn al-Mulk Multani conquered Malwa in central India. They were brought as slaves to Delhi, where they converted to Islam, and were named Hasan (later Khusrau Khan) and Husamuddin (or Hisamuddin). They were brought up by Alauddin's naib-i khas-i hajib Malik Shadi.[1]

The two brothers acted as passive homosexuals to maintain their status and position.[1] Alauddin's son Mubarak Shah fell in love with Hasan: he preferred Hasan as a homosexual partner, but turned to Husamuddin whenever Hasan was not available. Their relationship was not a secret, and Mubarak and Hasan used to exchange hugs and kisses in public.[1]

Hindu Woman Beheading: Like Others, India Should Officially Recognise Love Jihad Crimes Driven By Religious Extremism
https://swarajyamag.com/ideas/hindu-wom ... -extremism
....
Love Jihad or Grooming gangs is not merely a conspiracy cooked out of thin air by ‘Hindu nationalists’. Historically, just like the cow, the body of Hindu woman has been the instrument for expressing the ‘might of Islam’ and subjugation of Hindus.

There is overwhelming evidence that foreign-funded Islamist organisations support and promise money and other rewards to youth who lure non-Muslim women into marriage and conversion.

It isn’t without a reason that young women formed the “single largest pool of converts” going to fight for the Islamic State. And it isn’t a coincidence that the two Indian women who left Kerala to join the Islamic State, and another woman accused in Sri Lankan Easter bombings were all recent converts.
...
Several courageous victims of Love Jihad have come forward with their stories. Their horrifying experiences include being deceived into a relationship/marriage by a boy disguised under a Hindu name, who only revealed later that he is a Muslim and forced the woman to convert.

The pressurising tactics include threatening to make viral their intimate photographs and videos, isolating the woman from her family by snatching away her phone, force-feeding beef, beatings, snatching away her belongings, throwing away things of her pooja, threatening physical assault over usage of any Hindu symbols like sindoor, insulting Hinduism and Hindus, telling her that god’s wrath will fall on her if she continued worshipping false gods of other religions and she will burn in hell, and of course, even murder.

In fact, one of the victims of the Muslim grooming gangs in UK who was raped over a 100 times said that the perpetrators were inspired by religious extremism and operated exactly like terrorist networks, with all the same strategies.

“Like terrorists, they firmly believe that the crimes they carry out are justified by their religious beliefs.. The camaraderie, protection, money, and kudos that these groups offer, makes them a strong pull for anyone.”
...
It is important to note that the systematic inculcation of Hindu hatred is routine and happens through mainstream channels. The design of our model of secularism is such that these channels keep functioning unhindered regardless the changes in politics, society etc.

So, it would be foolish to rely on the administration to do the work. Hindu women should take their safety in their own hands.

The first thing would be to sensitise young, impressionable girls about their history, the predators, their standard techniques of luring the girls, how they groom their victims, and the emotional, mental, psychological abuse that follows.

The infamous Muslim grooming gangs in Britain revealed the selective targeting of non-Muslim young girls by by “fashionably dressed Pakistani men pretending a modern outlook” who would roam around in “flamboyant vehicles” in areas and schools with predominantly Hindu-Sikh population.

They were reportedly paid £5,000 ‘commission’ for the job. Their aggressive conversion tactics included stalking, beating up those who protest, and forcing women to drop out of college.

A Pakistani father’s ordeal: China seized his Uighur son and sent his daughters to an orphanage
https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/st ... ng-silence
....
But increasingly, China’s campaign against Uighurs has spilled across its borders, entangling men such as Hayat, a Pakistani garment trader who, with his wife, raised three children while trapped between the politics and ambitions of two countries.

Hayat’s saga reflects how Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s hard-line vision of crushing dissent extends beyond consolidation of power at home to blocking criticism from foreign governments, even when their own citizens are mistreated. The silence of Pakistan, which has been outspoken on oppression of Muslims across the world but has refrained from criticizing China — a major economic benefactor and potential provider of COVID-19 vaccines — reflects how many nations are wary of jeopardizing their ties to Beijing.
....
Every morning, they woke up at 4 a.m. for lectures about the Chinese Communist Party’s care for Uighurs, he said.

“The party is feeding you,” he remembered being told. “Uighurs are nothing without this party. If there was no Communist Party, Uighurs would have died of hunger.”

He and others were then forced to sing songs praising the party and Xi. After that they did morning exercise, running in circles as the sun rose. They were fed hot water and a piece of bread, and led to five hours of Chinese-language lessons. No one was allowed to speak Uighur, Mohammed said.
....
Mohammed was finally released on condition that he bring his wife and children in Pakistan back to Xinjiang and act as an informer for Chinese authorities. His other family members in Xinjiang would be collateral.

“But I will not go back to China,” he told The Times in an interview in Rawalpindi. Scars from the chains, beatings and electric shocks still marked his wrists, arms, back and feet. “China is a dungeon, our homes are torture cells, and death or execution is waiting for me and my family there.”

A few days later, he left Pakistan as well. The Times was not able to confirm what happened to the family members he left behind.

Although Pakistan is one of many Muslim nations that has refused to criticize China’s repression of Uighurs, “it’s also probably the country with the least room for maneuver,” said Andrew Small, a senior transatlantic fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

China provides Pakistan with tens of billions of dollars in loans and expanding military cooperation. Pakistan buys nearly 40% of China’s arms exports. It is also the flagship site for Xi’s Belt and Road global infrastructure initiative, which includes a 2,000-mile “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor” of roads and railways from Kashgar to the Arabian Sea.
...
In 2016, Bacha’s in-laws fled to Turkey with two of his children. Chinese police then detained his wife and three other children, ages 3, 4, and 5.

After petitioning the Pakistani Foreign Ministry and Chinese authorities, he was told recently that he could get Pakistani passports to bring his children out — but not his wife. She has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison. Authorities have not explained why.

Members of the Pakistani Uighur community, comprising families who left Xinjiang and became Pakistani citizens in the late 1940s, spoke of similar intimidation inside the Muslim nation.

One Pakistani Uighur shop owner in Rawalpindi told The Times that he had been detained for two weeks by plainclothes Pakistani security officers in late 2018. He said he was taken from his home in a black hood, chained in a dark room and questioned if he had connections with the East Turkestan Islamic Movement
...
Since early 2019, an organization funded by the Chinese Embassy called the “Ex-Chinese Assn.,” which runs Mandarin schools for Uighurs in Pakistan, has also begun asking Pakistani Uighur families to register the names and addresses of their family members in China.

Islam in 'Crisis All Over the World' France's Macron Says
French President Emmanuel Macron Friday called Islam "a religion that is in crisis all over the world," in a speech addressing what he calls “separatism” in France’s Islamic community.

In remarks delivered in the western Paris suburb of Les Mureaux, Macron said Islam is a religion in deep crisis worldwide, even in countries where it is the majority religion, because of “tensions between fundamentalism and political projects … that lead to very strong radicalization.”

The French president said in France there is a “parallel society” of radical Muslims thriving outside the values of the nation, a “separatism” as he describes it, that thrives in some neighborhoods around the country, where Muslims with a radical vision of their religion take control of the local population to inculcate their beliefs.

But Macron said everyone can share in the blame for this so-called separatism.

"We ourselves have built our own separatism, that of our neighborhoods. This is the ghettoization that our republic, initially with the best intentions in the world, allowed to take place,” said the French leader Friday.

He noted France’s concentration of populations into districts according to their origins, which has also concentrated educational and economic difficulties as well.

Macron said where French secular society failed Islamic youth, radicals stepped in.

The French president said the government will offer legislation in December to “reinforce secularism and consolidate republican principles.”

Macron to Outline France's Controversial Anti-Separatism Bill
France’s Muslim community – Europe’s largest – worries new law could deepen anti-Islamic sentiments
He called secularism "the cement of a united France," and added: "Let us not fall into the trap laid by ... extremists, who aim to stigmatize all Muslims."

During his speech, Macron repeatedly stressed the importance of schools in instilling secular values in young people and said that the government would require private schools to agree to teach them. Beginning next year, with few exceptions, the 50,000 French children who are currently educated at home would be required to attend school with fellow students, he said.

The bill would include additional education funding as well.

Rihanna criticised for using a song with Hadiths in the background of the virtual runway show for her Savage X Fenty lingerie collection
https://www.opindia.com/2020/10/rihanna ... ollection/
...
The show was streamed on Amazon Prime on Friday. It used a song produced by Coucou Chloe in 2017 that used a remix of a Hadith narration about the end of times and judgment day. It is believed that the Hadith is a written record of the sayings and actions of the Prophet Mohammad and his close associated. These texts are considered to be highly sacred to Muslims and often regarded as secondary only to the Quran in terms of authority.
