Apparently Zaid Hamid has been arrested in S Arabia for inflammatory speeches against the house of Saud he made during his trip there.

6 yrs prison and 1200 lashes have been prescribed as repentance.

There goes my weekend comedy...sigh...

At the ongoing 29th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, the exiled Kashmiri leaders sought the Council's attention towards deteriorating human rights situation in the region.
He said that recently Nadir Hasan Khan and other nationalist leaders have been arrested in Gilgit Baltistan for peacefully protesting and leading a rally to submit a memo to UN sub office against farce elections in Gilgit Baltistan and for release of Baba Jan, Iftikhar Hussain and other political activists, who were charged under the anti terrorist act and facing 40 years life imprisonment.
“In 1960s, Pakistan constructed Mangla Dam in Mirpur, Kashmir. Pakistan had agreed to provide free electricity to natives and pay royalty to the AJK (Azad Jammu and Kashmir) for the use of the water and electricity generated by the dam. But this commitment never saw the light of the day,” said Nasir.
“Kashmiris are denied royalty because Islamabad says Kashmir is not a province of Pakistan and royalty is only paid to provinces. Mangla Dam produces 1300 mega watts and our daily need is only 330 mega watts. But the region has been facing electricity shortage or load shedding for over 18-20 hours a day,” he added.
Can't we support this guys and create baluchistan like freedom movement in Gilgit Baltistan??

She was entertained in Delhi by many a folk thinking she is Pro-India after her fits of anger against ISI/PA. She has US interests in mind, and many times those are unfriendly for India. Case in point, her remarks about "Balochistan, JK, IA, Saffron terror, etc.".

Saffron terror was a congress I / Digvijay singh's failed election gambit to counter the BJP's electoral gains, to try to secure the muslim votebank. When the muslim parliamentarians told the congress that what they're doing with the country and the economy effectively amounted to treason against the nation, the congis backed down a little bit.
Noone that I know ever believed in this Col Purohit / Sadhvi pragya nonsense, most people were lol at this congi gaffe!

The voters saw through this bulshit and sent the congress packing.

From the above,
In contrast to Indian officials who are often stiff, hectoring, disinterested, and seemingly mired in ennui, . . .The Pakistanis have studied what Americans like and how best to cater to these preferences. Right down to the mug
It is even a fact that Nixon was miffed by the vegetarian food (and no alcohol) in a state dinner whereas he was treated lavishly at his next port of call, Pakistan. This seems to have fixed his dislike for India permanently.

That era has gone now...

I agree that India's babus need to generally be more pleasent and receptive of everyone, indian citizens most of all. But having been in nai dilli myself, i've found them to be busy at work, with no time to encourage hangers on, videshi agents and reporters

I'm sure that the babus of any busy government won't have the time to dole out pleasentries to every gora or gori who comes by.

To be fair to Fair, that tweet is one of a long series about how we should be even-handed, etc., which is fine in the abstract. When it comes to specific cases, e.g., Samjhota Express, there is something that needs explanation. Since I'm blocked by C.C. Fair, I hope someone here will tweet the two links here to her.
The Samjhauta Express bombing – curiously, the US declared Arif Qasmani of the Lashkar-e-Taiba as an international terrorist because of the attack on the train. Here is the UN notice on Arif Qasmani, dated June 29, 2009:

http://www.un.org/sc/committees/1267/NSQDi271E.shtml

“Arif Qasmani has also provided financial and other support to Al-Qaida (QDe.004). As of late 2006, Qasmani provided funding to Al-Qaida members and facilitated the return of foreign fighters to their respective countries. Between 2004 and 2005, Qasmani provided Al-Qaida with supplies and weapons and facilitated the movement of Al-Qaida leaders in and out of Afghanistan. In return for Qasmani’s support, Al-Qaida provided him with operatives to support the July 2006 train bombing in Mumbai, India, and the February 2007 Samjota Express bombing in Panipat, India.”

----

In The Washington Post, May 11, 2010, Sebastian Rotella wrote:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/05/AR2010110506271.html

“In a previously unreported tip just seven months before the Mumbai attacks, one of Headley’s ex-wives told U.S. officials overseas that she suspected he was linked to a 2007 bombing in India that killed 68 people and has been blamed on the Lashkar-e-Taiba militant group. She also warned that Headley was on a “special mission,” according to a senior anti-terror official. ”

“”She said Headley had been given a special mission and that he had both U.S. and Pakistani passports,” the senior anti-terror official said. “She said she felt she had been innocently used in an express train bombing” in India that had killed 68 people in 2007.”
PS: The wiki article on Samjhota Express does not have the WaPo story referenced. If someone here has edit ability on Wiki, please to add.

From a post in October, 2014
. . . , my position on Fair is that she has not changed that once-upon-a-time 'critical' attitude to India. She has not spoken about India for a long while now. OTOH, she has been firing her fusillade at Pakistan because her close friends, the PA, mis-treated her for reasons we are not very clear about. She has spoken about her fondness for Punjabi men and the persona-non-grata issued by the Punjabi Army etc. So, for the moment she is concentrating her ire on STFU-TSPA. We will enjoy this moment but it shall pass too. This does not mean her opinion about India has changed. When there is thaw in the estrangement, that is when we will see true colours once again.

Pakistan Succumbs To U.S. Threats - Reverses Earlier Ban On U.S. N.G.O :rotfl:

From the TFT:
[quote]Guess who saved Save The Children? None other than The Man of Steel’s Dar-ling, we hear. Just as Senator Kerry was getting ready to have a bristling press conference condemning Pakistan for threatening to expel Save the Children fund and other NGOs, Dar-ling got to work. They say he called Uncle Sam’s man in Isloo  and told him he was working on the matter. It appears neither The Man of Steel nor Gen Bob were in favour of expelling the NGOs, and soon the matter was resolved. No wonder Dar-ling’s also known as Super PM.

Also mention number, range, type, frequency, motive, ideology long term goal. None of these equate Hindu extremist bombings with Islamic. Then there is the matter of external terrorism, where it would be hilarious to even conceive of an equivalence. Hindu groups are not bombing Kenya, Philippines, Thailand, Nigeria, France, the US, Tunisia, not even Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, where there is persecution of the Hindu minority, and massive reduction in their numbers.

I think it is better to ignore her, not to reply to her tweets. She is not going to change her mind. If you challenge her, she will be more determined to call names and be abusive. That was why I always said that we should observe her attacks on Pakistan from a long distance enjoying the attacks while they last. Her attacks on Pakistan come from being jilted or wronged or some similar causal factor. Normally, attacks against India, Indians, Hindus are asinine, bigotted, prejudiced, idiopathic.

There are multiple fallacies in her tweets.

For example, she is attempting to compare a religion with a person ('saffron' with Hafiz Saeed). Why does she do so? Because, that is convenient to her presently. She should have compared 'saffron' with 'Islam' if she was intellectually honest. She doesn't want to do so because that would then become untenable for her line of illogical reasoning. Besides Islamist jihadi terror does not need any proof in the form of conviction of Hafeez Saeed and that too in a Pakistani court. Such terrorism is known throughout the world in over a thousand incidents in the last two decades alone. Again, her dishonesty shines because Hafeez Saeed is a UN sanctioned terrorist. Her own government has declared him so.

Destructive ideology by an individual, as it happens everyday in the US, certainly does not need a Book. But, if a group does it consistently, across a large geography etc., it certainly needs a motivation and that motivation has to come from a source. She talks nonsense.

New Jails
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/national/2 ... rom-july-1
Five newly constructed district jails in Punjab, with a capacity of 1,000 people each, will be made functional from July 1, swelling the total number to 37 prisons.

Inspector General (IG) of Prisons Mian Farooq Nazeer said on Sunday that all logistic and necessary security arrangements had been made to ensure the functioning of Pakpattan, Okara, Bhakkar, Layyah district jails along with the new high security risk jail of Sahiwal.
The Sahiwal one is "Pakistan's first high-security prison":

Possibly, not able to check. But this prison was being constructed in 2009. If Chinese workers are going to build the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, then this prison is probably a must-have, along with the special units of Punjab police, and other security.

Of course, suicide bombers can't be jailed, and Lakhvi, Saeed will not be jailed, so this is pretty useless. Also, I'm wondering how a high-security prison works with 20-hour load-shedding. Maybe battery-operated security cameras....

reg cfair, we should learn how to use her as needed. nothing more. whats the point in trying to find such a person is "good" or "bad"..

almost 100% of westerners believe in == with saffron terror. that narrative is out there and will take years to go. all western mainstream media uses "hindu nationalist" in a pejorative intent along with standard disclaimers on guj riots etc. and when our own ruling govt puts out these stories, with the help of pliant media, they reached far and wide.

find me ONE western reporter/writer who can openly be against the above narrative? they cannot. this narrative has taken such a hold that it is risky for them to go against it. why take needless risks..

the reason cfair took the risk of going against the establishment backed stories on pakistan, is because of her personal feud with them. she must have known this crap in the first few days she was in pakistan, having known to read and understand urdu.

^^^ Follow the link, Sir, follow the link:
LAHORE - The Punjab government is constructing two high-security prisons in District Sahiwal and District Mianwali for terrorists while family rooms (quarters) are being built in four jails where long term convicts spouses and children will be allowed to stay with them three days a month.

The family rooms, a new concept in Pakistan, are being constructed in Central Jail Kot Lakhpat Lahore, Central Jail Faisalabad, Central Jail Rawalpindi and Multan which will be ready by the mid of next year.

The construction work on two high security jails is in full momentum.

Sahiwal Jail will be completed in 2010 and Mianwali Jail in 2011 with prisoners capacity of 1,000 each.

The small quarters each comprising one room, a kitchen and a bathroom will offer to lodging to children below six or wife of a convict to spend three days with him in privacy, official sources told The Nation on Thursday.

What is interesting to me is the amount of evidence it takes to prove what constitutes as "terror":

Terror is using irrational and violent mayhem to induce fear among a population in order to achieve some policy goal.

For Islam, the evidence is out there and it comes directly from the book. Yet everytime some or the other terror attack happens the sikulars act as if any amount of evidence is "not enough" to prove that the policy goal is completely described in the holy book of Islam.

For Christian/White terror like that happened in Charleston in the US (white kid shooting up senior black citizens), the evidence of terror is disregarded and that person is assumed to be mentally unstable and "misguided".

Yet for "Yindooo" terror, its a complete opposite story. Where is the evidence of irrational violence? What is the evidence for unprovoked Mayhem? Most of all, what is the end policy goal of the so called Yindooo terrorists?

I have yet to see anyone give justifications. It seems like "terror" is a loosely defined term that is applied to different people differently according to what suits the accusers bias.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/26/opini ... ef=opinion
"In Karachi, a Fatal Mix of Heat and Piety"
The author maintains a cooler with good drinking water because:
....There are chic restaurants, cafes and art galleries in my neighborhood, but not a single public source of clean drinking water. ...
Come Ramzan:
There is the Respect of Ramzan Ordinance, which says you may be sent to prison for a few months if you eat or drink during fasting hours, or if you give someone something to eat or drink. I don’t really think I removed the cooler for fear of the ordinance: God knows, like every middle-class, privileged Pakistani, I flout enough laws. I did it because it would hurt the sensibility of those who fast.
Many of the 1,000 people who have died in the recent heat wave in Karachi died because of this sensibility: Some people were reluctant to ask for a drink of water, others were reluctant to offer it to them. You can’t blame them. Even if they could get past their inhibitions, there was no water to be had. All the little tea stalls, roadside restaurants, small juice or snack vendors disappear from the streets during fasting hours. In this month you can walk miles without finding a sip of water. And Karachi has developed in a way that you can also walk miles without finding any shade to cool down. Trees have been cut down to widen roads, overpasses have gobbled up footpaths; there are few shaded bus stops. Without water and without shade, while fasting or pretending to fast, people going to and coming back from work just fell on the streets and died.
The victims, mostly poor and working class, needed some shade, a drink of water and a bit of time to slow down. But shade and a respite from work are hard to come by in Karachi — even in the month of Ramzan, the work of being a megacity must go on.

Thousands of construction workers dangle from high-rises. Traffic constables stand on city squares. Private security guards sit outside banks and offices. All in the heat, with no shade. When it is not Ramzan, these workers usually carry a bottle of water. When it is Ramzan, they don’t. When it is Ramzan, the eateries where they could score a free drink are shut. And when it is Ramzan, all the kindhearted people take away their coolers.
What killed them was the forced piety enshrined in our law and Karachi’s contempt for the working poor. These people died because we long ago removed any shade that could shelter them from the June sun and then took away their drinking water.

How can the counrty that was founded in the name of the religion of peace, and her citizens are ardent followers of the religion of peace with liberal, secular values, and has a vibrant, free media be anything but the most peaceful place on earth?

The Cwapistanis do profess the Religion of Peace, do live in the Land of the Pure but most importantly they Reside in the Home of the Terrorists

She just wants to stay relevant and self promote herself in public view, by coming out with a bunch of shock value crap like saffron terror.
Unlike the gents in BRF, Pakistan is bread and butter for Ms. Fair. Take Pakistan away, i.e. no visits, no access to the jernails, kernails and other Pakjabi males, and she is without a job. All that time wasted in learning Urdu will not help her to get an assignment. So, once she is forgiven by the Fauj, she will return and sing their praises. Her love for India is just temporary. We should not hope to get much out of her.
