Our Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a speech to US Think Tank Council for Foreign relations says that the onus of improving relations rests with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan:

"I think the message in the context of Pakistan is that India is interested in improving the relationship with Pakistan and therefore the onus of the responsibility for creating an environment in which the relationship can grow would also depend much more on Pakistan and the kind of provocation that comes from there."

"The message that we are interested in normalising our relationship with them or at least improving our relationship with them and the onus is on Pakistan for this purpose, has been loud and clear."

Onus of Creating Environment for Talks is on Pakistan, Says Arun Jaitley

Sridhar,

I am giving some rope to our Government on this. This as contact to the extent it has taken place via the phone call of a couple of days ago is within the context of reaching out to our neighbours on the Indian Sub-Continent. Contact was also initiated for passing on Ramazan greetings to Bangladesh PM and Afghan President. Check out the title of the release announcing this by our PMO ie: PM speaks to South Asian leaders ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

Further the US does not have the ability to compel India to do anything and neither do I see the BJP Government having any overwhelming inclination to humour the Islamic Republic and indulge in Dhimmi-like communal votebank fostering behavior. Arun Jaitleys comments in New York posted just above can be seen as a message also to the US.

Worst load shedding as Ramazan starts in Pakistan
KARACHI: Major cities in Pakistan plunged into darkness due to load shedding during Sehri on the first day of Ramazan.

Though Water and Power Minister Khawaja Asif on Thursday said no load shedding would take place during Sehri and Iftar hours, most areas of Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and others cities witnessed worst load shedding during the first Sehri of Ramazan.

Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Federal B. Area, Sakhi, Hasan, Shah Faisal Colony, Jail Road and Malir were the most affected areas in Karachi.

SSJi, I am not happy with lack of specifics on Jaitly's comments. This thing about "TSP making the atmosphere conducive" for talks is way too nebulous. He should have put specific benchmarks: 1) killers of 26/11 brought to justice, 2) Hand over Dawood etc.

And just yesterday the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was ordering no load shedding during the prequel and sequel to the fasting period  .

Funny lot these people from the Islamic Republic. Seem to think that peering earnestly at the camera and intoning sonrously is a substitute for honest hard work and will make the impossible magically happen :

No load-shedding during Sehri or Iftar, orders PM

CRamS, this is about one minute of speech an hour-long event focused mainly on economic issues; there is almost no other foreign policy stuff in the whole event. I've provided the link above, I strongly recommend spending the time on it, Jaitley is admirably to the point and concise regarding very important matters of policy affecting the Indian economy. The monomaniacal focus on Pakistan would have been counterproductive in the context of his talk. What you're asking for is that whenever Ravana is mentioned, only a recitation of the full Ramayana in reply will suffice.

PS: transcript of just on the one area of foreign policy:

GEITHNER: Maybe before we turn to the audience for questions, you could just talk a little about the broader foreign policy, national security context in which India exists, and this is the Council on Foreign Relations. Your prime minister has made this series of very interesting early moves in defining India's place in that region, so tell us a bit about the challenges you see on the—on the foreign policy side.

JAITLEY: There was a—there was a time not so long ago where India was in the midst of a disturbed neighborhood.

And a number of problems with that disturbed neighborhood were spilling into India.

When the new government was formed, the prime minister took an initiative even before his oath, swearing in. And the initiative was that we invite all the heads of government of the south nations, and this turned out to be a very correct and a very positive move.

And since then, we haven't looked back. So traditionally we had, for instance, our relationship if I may start on a positive note, a small country, Bhutan, we're very good. The country needs to be strengthened.

Nepal, we've been able to do a lot. And Nepal has gone through a terrible crisis because of the earthquake recently, and India spearheaded the assistance to Nepal and will continue to do that.

There is a conference of Dorno (ph) friends in Nepal on the 24th of this month, and we are going to play a leading role in that, and in rebuilding all institutions in Nepal, India is going to play a very important role.

So Indo-Nepalese relations seem to be very positive.

Countries like Myanmar, for instance, an Indian prime minister had not visited Sri Lanka in almost the last 27, 28 years. And therefore—and this was because of constraints of domestic polity. One state in particular, the prime minister visited Sri Lanka. We had a huge bending issue with our immediate neighbor Bangladesh. The prime minister was there two weeks ago, and he signed a historic pact after we amended our constitution to settle down the boundary issue, the land boundary issue with them.

Which it was an exchange of thousands of people from both sides: Indian citizens going over to Bangladesh and vice versa. It's almost, some newspapers compared it to the fall of the Berlin Wall. So pending issue for the last over 40 years has been resolved. So India and Bangladesh, India and Nepal, India and Sri Lanka, India and Bhutan.

Myanmar, recently, when insurgents have been holding camps in Myanmar, the government there has cooperated with us in tackling those insurgents. So these are all countries with whom we have an excellent relationship.

The prime minister has particularly developed an excellent relationship even with the Chinese leadership. We have a boundary issue with them. And the boundary issue is unresolved. There are other several issues related to China, which are issues of our concern.

But at least the—the tense situation around the boundary doesn't exist.

And economic trade relations with them have become fairly normal.

The prime minister recently got a very rousing reception in China.

Pakistan, the border frequently becomes dense. Where there are exchanges on that border, I think the message in the context of Pakistan, the prime minister recently has been speaking to the prime minister of Pakistan.

That India is interested in improving the relationship with Pakistan. And therefore the onus of responsibility for creating an environment in which that relationship can grow would also depend on much more in Pakistan and the kind of provocations which come from there.

Now this message that we are interested in normalizing our relationship with them or at least improving our relationship with them, and the onus is on Pakistan. For this purpose, I think this message is very loud and clear.

While relations elsewhere in the world are very cordial, the prime minister has been taking extensive visits to most significant countries, you know, of consequence, as far as India is concerned.

And I think the relationships, there are no serious issues.

GEITHNER: Good, that was excellent.

Ever since his move to Karachi , ostensibly for reasons of health and personal security, the ex Kammundu has been making all sorts of statements/ interviews to the national/international media to stay relevant on the Paki political scene. But every now and then , Badmaash & Company come along and remind him who is Boss. This new 'non - bailable -arrest-warrant ' is one such instance ( other trumped up cases are surely in the pipeline). And his fauji brothers and ' international admirers ' are not able to 'bail' him out :D Just wondering if this has anything to do with him not being a Punjabi .

In Pakistan, bottled water may be unfit to drink :D

Nearly 35 per cent of Pakistan’s estimated 182 million people do not have access to safe drinking water. :!:

In the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan of which he is in charge, there were 106 bottling units (plants) which sell 125 brands of bottled water, Haq said. “We recently sealed over a dozen factories doing illegal business.”[/quote]

Nearly 80-85pc of water samples tested were bacteriologically unsafe – turbid and containing dissolved solids above permissible limits.

Comment: Surprising that India is not mentioned as the main cause of the 'unfit to drink water'!

PESHAWAR: Violent protests erupted in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday over prolonged loadshedding conducted despite claims made by the federal government that no power cuts would take place during critical timings in the Holy month of Ramazan.

Earlier Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, during meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Energy, had directed authorities to ensure hassle-free power supply during ‘Sehr’ and ‘Iftar’ in the Holy month of Ramazan.

Federal Minister of Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif had also assured the nation of uninterrupted power supply during critical times throughout the Ramadan.

Comment: Instead of making sure that concrete actions are taken to redress important problems, the Paki leaders are reduced to mouthing empty phrases such as .....'direct authorities', 'take note' , 'assure the nation', 'announce plans', etc, etc

Imtiaz Gul is squealing like a stuck pig.

Namely:
http://www.thefridaytimes.com/tft/encirclement/
Encirclement?
Modi’s plans against Pakistan are not good for the region

Phone calls by Narendra Modi to Nawaz Sharif, Hasina Wajid and Ashraf Ghani on June 16 notwithstanding, there is little doubt that if an encircle-Pakistan plan ever existed, its execution is nearly complete – at least as of now – pushing the prospects for resumption of a normal India-Pakistan dialogue further away. The string of statements from Modi, his foreign and defense ministers, as well as Ajit Doval, the former spymaster and now the national security advisor, in the last three weeks, the vitriolic Pakistan-bashing in Kabul, and the continued demonization of Pakistan in Dhaka reflect a well-knit string of fire around Pakistan. This encirclement – if planned the way it appears today – does not bode well for the south Asian region, with a fragile Afghanistan still caught up in the vicious cycle of the religiously-driven insurgency. Unfortunately, Afghanistan has upstaged Kashmir and emerged as the critical link in what could be called the triangle of tribulation consisting of India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan – a region currently being stoked by the nationalist Modi, ably supported by an intelligence mindset.

Coincidentally, Modi’s Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina Wajid minces no words and spares no opportunity in demonizing Pakistan. Her narrative revolves around Pakistan-bashing – wherever and whenever possible. And this fits into nationalist Indians’ recipe on how to deal with Pakistan.

“We all have to remain vigilant so that those Pakistani collaborators (Khaleda Zia’s BNP) can’t get back to power, kill people and play with the fate of the masses,” the prime minister told a discussion organized to commemorate the “Martyred Intellectuals Day” on December 14.

TFT has an interesting article about Zardari takleef. Apparently he had a quid pro quo with badmash whereby if he supported badmash during the container protests, badmash will let him skim 10% from Sindh.

Apparently now army, rangers and ISI are cleaning up sindh and getting rid of corrupt babus and various mafia, half of whom belong to PPP and the other half to MQM. Now badmash has sided with the army and not helping PPP out. Zardari is pissed. http://www.thefridaytimes.com/tft/the-explosion/

Hajam Sethi's Take on Zardari's recent outburst against army

Asif Zardari has been simmering like a volcano ever since the Karachi Operation started. Now he has exploded. The fallout could be catastrophic for the MQM, PPP and PMLN if it is not contained immediately.

Mr Zardari’s angst was evident when he couldn’t shield his provincial alliance partner MQM from the military operation in Karachi that strained his relations with it. The problem was that, after agreeing with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to give the military a free hand to clean up the province, he couldn’t have objected to the targeted operation. Now, after eliminating many terrorists, the military operation has entered the second stage and is targeting the criminals inside and outside the PPP government who give sustenance to them. This includes lower level bureaucrats and police officials, some of whom are important props in the Sindh government.

The military’s strategy of “cleaning” up Pakistan in stages without assuming power directly, is nearing the limits of its viability and effectiveness. Sooner rather than later Mr Sharif will have to take sides. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t, it is certainly going to get nastier and messier. - See more at: http://www.thefridaytimes.com/tft/the-explosion/#sthash.wOzcQHtp.dpuf

Modi-ji's Chanakyan Policies :D Bearing Fruit?

Modi's plans against Pakistan are not good for the regions says Pakistan writer, Imtiaz Gul

It was embarrassing both for Pakistan and President Ghani, whom many are meanwhile dubbing as the Pakistani agent. The leaks and the controversy discomforted US officials too, who saw the act as a blatant attempt to undermine efforts to revive and push the reconciliation dialogue.

The vibes in south Asia are pretty clear now; a nationalist, jingoistic and intelligence-led mindset in New Delhi has turned Afghanistan into the centerpiece of its policy on Pakistan. Regardless of how they position themselves henceforth, the world should not be surprised if the current simmering tensions blew into armed hostilities – even if limited. The mindset presently at helm of affairs in New Delhi by default offers the lethal recipe for the specter of a possible escalation.

Pakistan was always ruled by its army which is a nationalistic, jingoistic intelligence led mindset that had turned Afghanistan into its centerpiece of its policy against India (strategic depth anyone). Why didn't he write how that was bad for "South Asia" ? Irony just strapped on a suicide vest, yelled AoA and blew itself up.

There is no end to mental masturbation by these twats. They start off thing to write the worst about India but end up describing Pakistan perfectly. Freudian slip perhaps?

Imran Khan's Dirty Linen Being Washed in Public According to Friday Times

Our mole reports that The Great Khan’s stand-off with his family continues, in part because of his indifferent attitude to filial obligations. It’s no secret that his four sisters were not in favour of his marriage to our current bhabi, but that’s water under the bridge. A close relative spoke recently of The Khan’s absence at a first cousin’s funeral, and said that he’d spent such a long time in the West :) that he’d lost touch with our cultural  ethos.

Badmaash - Dus Percenti Joint Venture Exposed !

According to the Friday Times :

Everyone says The Man of Steel’s Dar-ling has boundless power but even his writ has limitations, as he recently discovered. We hear he complained to General Bobby about the fact that unbeknownst to him, the Invisible Soldiers Inc. were able to infiltrate his ministry to try and move an application making the money laundering law applicable with retrospective effect. If successful, this would have meant its application on the Ayyan Ali dollar smuggling case. Looks like The Man of Steel’s “arrangement” with Hubby is unraveling.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan - Apr 22 2015

Postby Peregrine » 19 Jun 2015 21:37

US report again highlights Pakistan’s two-timing on terrorism

WASHINGTON: An annual US report on terrorism once again called out Pakistan's two-timing on terrorism, detailing the country's patronage of terror groups, but stopped short of citing the government or the army use of terrorism as state policy, or calling for punitive action.

Acknowledging that the Pakistani military undertook operations against groups that conducted attacks within Pakistan such as TTP, the 2014 country report on terrorism released on Friday bluntly stated that Pakistan "did not take action against other groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, which continued to operate, train, rally, propagandize, and fundraise in Pakistan."

"Lashkar e-Taiba (LeT) and its alias organizations continued to operate freely in Pakistan, and there were no indications that Pakistan took significant enforcement actions against the group,"
the report said, continuing a practice of gently indicting Pakistan for terrorism without forcing compliance or punishing it.

Instead, the John Kerry-led state department has funneled billions of dollars in aid to what its own report in effect calls a terrorism-supporting state. Most recently, the Pentagon has given a nearly $1 billion arms package to a country many of its analysts say directs killing of American soldiers in Afghanistan.

In fact, the report went so far as to say UN-designated terrorist organizations continued to skirt sanctions in Pakistan "by reconstituting themselves under different names, often with little effort to hide their connections to previously banned groups, and the government does not prosecute 'countering the financing of terrorism' (CFT) cases."

Although Pakistan added some named groups to its proscribed organizations list, implementation of UNSCRs 1267 and 1988 on terrorism and its financing remained weak, it added, in a series of strictures against a country that many analysts have said is a practitioner of terrorism but which claims to be a frontline state against terrorism and its foremost victim.

The report also ignored Pakistan's recently claim, ridiculed as bogus in most quarters, that India was responsible for violent insurgency in Baluchistan. A Pakistani delegation led by its foreign secretary which visited Washington recently with the pre-announced intent of bringing this to the notice of the Obama administration did not even utter a peep about it, suggesting such claims were made for domestic consumption.

The US report said counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan during 2014 was mixed, and Pakistan continued to deny visas for trainers focused on law enforcement and civilian counterterrorism assistance. Pakistan's cooperation with the US on information sharing and law enforcement continues, but needs improvement with respect to kidnapped US citizens, it added.

Delays in obtaining Pakistani visas for training personnel have been an obstacle to counterterrorism assistance for security forces and prosecutors, including assistance planned through the department of state's anti-terrorism assistance program, most of which was redirected to other regional partners, it said.

The report said India has deepened counterterrorism cooperation with the United States, highlighted by a September 30 summit between President Obama and Prime Minister Modi where both sides pledged greater cooperation in countering terrorist networks and in information sharing.

The president and prime minister, it said, stressed the need for joint and concerted efforts against networks such as al-Qaida, LeT, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and the Haqqani Network and reiterated their call to bring perpetrators of the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai to justice.

The report also said Indian officials have emphasized the government takes threats posed by ISIS seriously, even though only a small number of Indians are believed to have been recruited into the organization. "Given India's large Muslim population, potential socio-religious marginalization, and active ISIL (ISIS) online propaganda efforts, there remains a risk of increased ISIL recruitment of Indian nationals," the report warned.

Critiquing India's efforts to counter terrorism, it said plans were hampered by "poor interagency coordination and information sharing." In addition, local police forces, led at the state level, have limited command and control capacity and suffer from poor training and equipment

Pakistani 'Elite Women' Complain of Being A Tool In The Hand Of Male Members

But what makes her “elite”? She’s just been objectified like any other woman, she has carefully crafted her appearance like any other woman and she knows her worth’s evaluation will stem from it, like any other woman.

Tehmina Durrani, probably the best example in this case, even after penning an entire novel against feudalism and the abuse she had to suffer at the hands of elite men, had to return to the feudal, elite fold. Benazir Bhutto was the first woman of her family to pursue higher education or to leave her home country in pursue of it. How many women of the upper-level families do we know have pursued higher education abroad in comparison with their brothers?

“Elite men rape with impunity at parties” I was informed by a good friend to my horror. And obviously the victim, being a woman, is shamed. Uncles and servants of the elite house are also immune to punishment when it comes to women, with some uncles looking for an opportunity to display power over the younger women on their deathbeds.

In our patriarchal system, women are in no struggle or division of social class; we’re struggling to survive. And all we have is each other.

Sometimes, I have a hard time understanding if this belongs here or in Benis. It is so stupid, I dont even know what to say

Pakistanis Fall for Fake Viral Video, Destroy NFC Chips on Smartphones

Recently, a video on DailyMotion had been making the rounds. In it, two men ‘reveal’ the real reason why there are so many leaked videos from smartphones these days. You see, all batteries on Samsung devices have a chip on them. A spy chip, if you will. And that constantly uploads all your personal information including videos to the internet to be viewed by anybody. Devious, eh? That’s why a lot of people have taken to opening up the batteries of their Samsung devices and throwing away these evil chips (which also apparently are the cause of your phone getting hot). Phew. Privacy disaster averted!…right?
The videos is a hoax. Don’t follow the instructions in it!

Not really. What a number of people actually did was destroy the NFC chips in their smartphones which – you guessed it – come attached to the battery (for most modern smartphones).

The link contains a video of some baki actually doing it.

Pakistan suspends death penalty during Ramadan

Pakistan has ordered the temporary suspension of the death penalty during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

Pakistan is believed to have :D the largest number of death row inmates in the world. Some 8,200 prisoners are awaiting execution - many of whom have been in jail for over a decade.

Amnesty International said it had seen " :?: a conveyor belt of executions" since then.

Comment: Probably, Allah only knows, how many of them are actually innocent. :-?

Anujan wrote:Pakistan was always ruled by its army which is a nationalistic, jingoistic intelligence led mindset that had turned Afghanistan into its centerpiece of its policy against India (strategic depth anyone).

The Punjabi dominated elite of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are indeed shamelessly hypocritical.

Slaughter of Pathans / Pushtun by the Uniformed Jihadi’s of the Punjabi dominated Military of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan continues unabated despite the commencement of the Mohammadden holy month of Ramazan / Ramadan.

The pious Mohammadden Pathan / Pushtun Freedom Fighting Mujhahideen it seems are ranked even lower than murderous criminals by the Punjabi Military dominated elites of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and not immune to slaughter during the Mohammadden holy months:

Air strikes kill 20 Freedom Fighting Mujahideen in Khyber Agency

Sadanand Dhume writes an article titled “South Asia Bets on Prosperity” for the Wall Street Journal on India’s economic diplomacy on the Indian Sub-Continent and the risk that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan runs of acting contrary.

Dhume concludes by saying “India is slowly stitching together the rudiments of a South Asian common market. Unless Pakistan switches tack, it risks remaining stuck in a demented South Asian time warp while the rest of region begins, at last, to look more like sensible Southeast Asia.”:

South Asia Bets on Prosperity : As India steps up its economic diplomacy in the neighborhood, Pakistan risks falling further behind.

^ Pakistan, with its single-minded obsession of India, will become irrelevant in SAARC soon. The Modi government is doing the right thing by bypassing a Pakistan that is reluctant to sign the motor vehicles agreement or the SAARC satellite proposal etc.

Odd that MMS wasted ten years in not bypassing TSP intransigence. InSAARC.

India quadrupling its economy in decade will take the whole region out of poverty. Till then Bakistan must be kept on Boil, wrapped in foil and kept in Talibani, Afghani Oven. Indian defence budget in 2025 will match the GDP of Pakisatan. 10% of which will be allocated for Afghanistan, Baluchistan and Sindh Desh of Sultan Zardari.

So, in Pakistan a woman who has a job owns a car and wears western clothes is considered elite. By that benchmark almost 50 per cent of working Indian women can be considered elite.
