Paki strategic Death is Back: Dosto Ka Dost, Dushmano ka Dushman
Afghanistan's Dostum unites friends, foes in anti-Taliban fight

AFGHANISTAN: As the Taliban expand into his old stomping grounds in northern Afghanistan, former warlord General Abdul Rashid Dostum — who boasts of having a PhD in killing militants — is galvanising legions of devout followers and erstwhile foes for battle. The fearsome Uzbek general, who holds no formal military post, recently launched an offensive with loud, bellicose declamations against the Taliban, who are making surprising inroads into Faryab province as the insurgency’s centre of gravity shifts north from its southern strongholds. In a desperate effort to defend his home territory, he is activating private anti-Taliban militias in a risky gambit now commonplace across the embattled north.More significantly, the battle-hardened general, who has repeatedly switched loyalties over 40 years of conflict, is joining forces with a longtime rival in an unprecedented alliance.Uzbek militiamen loyal to his Junbish-e-Milli party are fighting alongside and sharing weapons and intelligence with Jamiat-e Islami, the Tajik-dominated party of the other main northern strongman — Atta Mohammad Noor, the powerful governor of Balkh province.“General Dostum is not an engineer, General Dostum is not a doctor, General Dostum has a PhD in eliminating the Taliban,” the ex-warlord said about himself earlier this year in comments cited in the local media.“I will bring the Taliban to its knees.”
“But people have faith that Dostum will save our endangered land. Ordinary people are selling their cattle to buy weapons to fight for him.His biggest strength, both supporters and detractors agree, is his ability to inspire an army of supporters across the ethnic divide to fight for him — despite his intimidating personality.“He is a great motivator at a time when morale is sagging,” a Jamiat militia commander told AFP, declining to be named.“That really shows the power of Dostum. People worship him.”Loyalists and civilians in Faryab have almost mythologised the man, who they glorify for rising from extreme poverty to the heights of power.“He is known for frontal attacks on his enemies and showering wealth generously on his people,” said Habibullah Syed, police chief of outlying Andhkoy district. But his larger-than-life persona belies the extreme barbarities Dostum is well known for, including allegedly allowing hundreds of Taliban prisoners to be suffocated to death in shipping containers in 2001.It also strongly highlights Afghanistan’s warlord culture, where figures like Dostum remain potent and relevant despite a democratically elected government in Kabul.

There was a story of a Logistics manager in Karachi chucking his job away and joining the Mohajirs to start a new life in Germany

+++++++++++++

Dostam managed a group of 50K Uzbek fighters called the Jouzjani militia at one time. As many would know, he is of Uzbeg stock and known to be open minded in matters of religion and women

Government and private sector idiots have foisted the illusion in our minds that our salvation lies in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. How, when $11 billion for building the road is a government-to-government loan and $34 billion will be loans from private banks, probably Chinese, to private sector Chinese-Pakistani joint ventures mostly comprising coal-fired power projects that will add to pollution and climate change. Worse, we will import the coal from China. The Chinese partners will take all their profits, if any, to China while the cost of coal from China will be paid by Pakistan. Has anyone considered the quantum of the foreign exchange outflow and what it will do to our balance of payments?

China? Sure it has a large enough reserve to pay off our entire debt, but why would it? Or America write it off? Perhaps, but only they take our soul and also take with it our freedom, independence and sovereignty with it as collateral. We could become another de facto province of China or America, or even colony if you like. For beginners, they would take all our Public Sector Enterprises and more. China is only trying to make them sink deeper in debt, while enriching chinese coffers during an economic slump. The CPEC will economically ruin El Bajistan!

“SIX Brits are being quizzed by cops in Belgium as the country remains gripped by fear over an "serious and imminent attack".

The suspects - reported to be Pakistani-born UK nationals - were arrested after being spotted inside three old ambulances in Brussels, as the capital was on a full scale terror alert.

Armed anti-terror cops swooped close to an Esso petrol station said to be often used by fugitive Paris attacker Salah Abdeslam, who remains at large.

A convoy of six armoured trucks and a police car surrounded the ambulances after they stopped on a highway in Bierges, south east Brussels, at around 2pm yesterday afternoon.

The six suspects were last night still being quizzed by cops while officers raided the ambulances for potential clues.” :

accumulating US Dollars (by borrowing heavily from international lenders- IMF, World Bank, Bond Issue) to increase foreign exchange reserves.

OK guys, It seems to me that one of TSP's 3.5 is up to some rope trick, UK is apparently the "mediator" in resolving India TSP deadlock on kirket. But that aside, nothing really new, except that as someone else predicted, the matter is now supposedly in the hands of GOP, and they will say yes, we will play in India for cause of "piss" in "South Asia"

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/india-paki ... --spt.html

"The matter is now political," Khan said on Friday. "Pakistan's prime minister Nawaz Sharif has directed us that any decision will now be taken by the government and not by the PCB."

For those who were skeptical yesterday on whether or not GOI can pull the rug from under BCCI:

Under the MoU both the boards had agreed to play six series between 2015-2023, with four series to be hosted by Pakistan.

But all series were subject to clearance from the respective governments.

So GaganJi, like you, even I am hoping and praying that GOI takes a tough stand.

That bond raise was being criticized by the ISPR sponsored media as a black money whitewashing exercise. Hence the large returns promised.

Hmm, about the lankans in the past touring pakistan, even agreeing to tour a few years after the ISI/LeT terrorists shot their team up, I would attribute to a hidden Cheeni hand.
When Colombo had a cheeni pasand government, china was possibly encouraging its minnions to play each other, trade, and provide entry for the pakistanis into Sri Lanka.

Pakistanis have this clever-by-half strategy of leading westerners up the chane-ka-jhaad (trick people into climb a very weak lentil tree, from where they will surely fall).
The gora are suckers for sustained a$$ kissing by the pakis, asking for their leadership and mediation with India. The rest is left to the 'white man's burden', which kicks in right away to try and preside over things.

BCCI however is a different entity. Its simply too rich, too powerful, and is trying to build its empire with the G-3 of the cricketing world. India won't play pakistan, I believe that things will pan out, that will stop this. This halla-gulla by the Pakis is because they are afraid that there is not going yo be any series.

Paki Anal-ist Punctures Raheel's U.S. Trip
A trip to forget
DID the extension just become a little less likely?
All week, you could sense something wasn’t quite right. Last year, DC was in love with Raheel. They grabbed his hand, they had their photo taken with him, they pinned a medal to his chest.
Part of that was normal: he was still relatively new and there hadn’t been a new chap at the helm in six years.

So, all this coverage in the Paki Press was ISPR Propagandu?
But still — you could sense it was something more. The Americans don’t seem to be very impressed by the Cult of Raheel.
But still they have promised him some "Christmas toys" according to the Paki Press
Before he went, there was that business about him inviting himself. After he wrapped up his last meeting, the White House readout pointedly mentioned the other Sharif. And there was no medal or toys for him to bring back home.
It’s like the Americans are trying to say, look, we have business to do and we’ll do that business with you, but we prefer Pakistan as a democracy. So, let’s not fiddle around with that.

Anal-ist is hinting that the breaching of protocol by the "Bad Sharif" was not appreciated by the Amerikhans
Beyond that, there’s the relationship itself. The two Sharifs in DC three weeks apart has teased out at least one thing: the post-9/11 relationship is truly over.
For a decade and a half, the US has been the centre of our universe and we’ve thought that we are the centre of the American universe. But no more. That is both a good thing and a bad thing.
The Americans have always been the Sugar Daddy of the Pakis in spite of friendship with their new paramour - Chini Blothers
The problem is, you can’t really see Pakistan thinking about the next phase. Anywhere generally. Specifically with the US.
Sure, there’s this business about stabilising Afghanistan and all the CPEC goodness that will wash over us, but none of that was initiated or conceived of by Pakistan.
But then Pakistan has always done what its "masters of the day" wanted it to do, for a fistful of dollars.
A scaled-down, security-centric, transactional relationship with the US still means it’s one of the fundamental pillars of our foreign policy.
But we only seem to leverage the relationship to complain about India. Like this business with the dossiers.
You can imagine American officials smirking in private — Pakistan wants to prove that India is a state sponsor of terrorism? Uhuh.
Confirmation that the so called dossiers were rubbish :rotfl:
And we’re really only doing it because Modi made terrorism the one-point agenda with Pakistan.....
First, dismantling the TTP will have knock-on effects for non-states...
Second, full-spectrum deterrence has made the need for unconventional back-up against the Indian military threat less critical
The Paki strategy of so-called tactical nuclear weapons?
But that would require creativity. And thinking. It’s so much easier to complain, though. And ponder an extension.
So the trip was for seeking an approval for an extension for the Bad Sharif?

Pakistan asks Bangladesh to end revenge against ‘Pakistanism’
ISLAMABAD – Minister for Interior Affairs Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said that people of Pakistan and Bangladesh wanted to promote brotherly relations and move forward by forgetting bitterness of the past.
But a group in Bangladesh could not see restoring the atmosphere of brotherhood between people of the two countries, he said in a statement issued here. “We have the idea that who is behind that group, and it played what role in the incidents of 1970-71,” he added.

Being a Pakistani, he said he had the feelings that whatever was happening in Bangladesh, it was against and in violation of international laws and human rights.

The Interior Minister should focus on his own country's persecution of minorities! Did he express the same sentiments when secular bloggers were butchered in Bangladesh !
The minister said that murder of humanity and revenge to 'Pakistanism' should come to an end now. In next meeting of the cabinet, he said he would again take up the issue so that Bangladesh's revengeful policies could be contained. "Hearts of people of Pakistan and Bangladesh beat together and they want to see the two countries closer, no matter whatsoever jealous elements say,” he added.

More than 15 people have been convicted of ‘war crimes’ in a series of rulings handed down by two separate tribunals set up by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed in 2010. US lawmakers – overseeing foreign policy – described the war crimes tribunal as very flawed and a means of political retribution. The State Department said that the executions should not take place until it’s clear the trial process meets international standards.

How long were these BNP guys kept in jail? If the crime is for 1971, then they must have spent decades in jail with no govt willing to hang ?

Some of modi stuff is rubbing on Hasina too.

And pakis as usual shouting "my daddy is not hiding in the bush" (a common Tamil saying - enga appan kuthirla illa)..., needlessly telling world of their culpability in the genocide.

From what I'm told, they were simply asked if they were real Muslims. They said they were. The security forces laughed with relief and said "in that case you are free to go as those who are terrorists are not real Muslims".

A report about the Pakistani reporters.

Looks like the fifth body has been delivered in three months. The TTP has declared a war against the local journalists for not reporting their acts of valour (read attacks). Although the latest one does not come with a declaration of responsibility but it fits right into the declaration by the TTP spokesman some time back.

http://www.dawn.com/news/1221505/gunmen ... t-in-kohat

No need to visit the haraam link, nothing new in a journalist getting pasted in Kohat, a district of 'Captain Taliban' led KP province. But the interesting highlight in that report is this.

The militants have lately expressed unhappiness at the lack of coverage given to them by the Pakistani media, following a boycott order by the country's powerful military establishment.

And the only option left to the poor TTP fellas to send out their message is to kill the messenger.

More importantly, the Zarb-e-azb successes (read Pak troops getting their houris) are no longer reported to keep the moral of the aam abdul up and the new Chinese masters confident of their investments. 8)

Religious scholars vow to resist ‘liberalisation of Pakistan’
ISLAMABAD: The Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), an umbrella organisation of religious parties from different schools of thought, has announced that it would oppose all measures taken to ‘liberalise’ (whatever that means in Pakanisatan !)
the country.
Promising to launch a drive for the protection of the Islamic ideology of Pakistan and threatening to initiate a million-man march across the country if their demands were not met, the council termed the Supreme Court’s recent decision in the Mumtaz Qadri case ‘un-Islamic’.
So, not punishing a person for killing another is considered "Islamic"?
Members of religious parties and other right-wing groups took serious notice of a statement(veiled threat to Ganja?) made by the prime minister at an event held to celebrate the Hindu festival of Diwali on Nov 11 in Karachi.

He narrated an account of a meeting with Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, during the time when the PM was in exile in Saudi Arabia.
Mian Sahib had vowed in front of me at the Masjid-i-Nabvi that if the Almighty gave him another chance, then he would eradicate interest-based economy from the country and implement Sharia law in Pakistan.”

But what does the Book have to say, about "interest payments" to "kuffar countries"
The meeting commenced with a debate over issues including the eradication of the interest-based economy — but representatives of religious groups failed to present any solution to the problems being discussed. Other agenda items included the condemnation of what it called obscenity in the country and countering conspiracies being hatched to amend the blasphemy law.

So, the Mullahs now want a "even greener Pakistan"
The conference also mentioned a longtime demand of all religious groups – that obscenity on the media be stopped.
“The definition of obscenity should be defined in the light of the Holy Quran and Sunnah and a decision needs to be forwarded to Pemra (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) for implementation,” the declaration said.
The MYC also demanded that the government lift the ban on coverage of the JuD and the Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation.

So, there were no "MQM Mullahs" demanding to lift the ban on Altaf Bhai's banishment from Paki media ? So, this was a strictly Pakjabi gathering

Sir Ji - Mistook took place. Gobar is the TSPA's mouthpiece. So, for once, he is talking sense.

I draw your attention to the following :
According to the official State Bank website, by June 15, 2015, Pakistan had accumulated a total external and domestic debt equivalent to US$195.647 billion. Of this $76 billion is external debt and rest is rupee debt. By now external debt is over a billion more. Our total debt stands at about 72.7 per cent of official GDP, Rs27,383.7 billion or US$269.02 billion whereas it shouldn’t be above 60 per cent under the Fiscal Responsibility Law passed during Musharraf’s time. Where is parliament?

Come into India’s orbit of influence and let them deal with Afghanistan, the Indian Ocean and the neighbourhood.

And, of course, help America in Afghanistan. But America seems confused: it simultaneously tells us to kill the Afghan Taliban and at the same time to bring them to the negotiating table, a crass contradiction. Then they also say that the Afghan Taliban are their partners in peace. Most confusing. Make up your minds, friends. Know what you want. Do you?

Methinks TSPA has seen the Light. Gobar dare not drop his pants, briefs and all without due sanction from Bad Sharif!

Shiv, CRS is a member since 2006 and has >4800 posts. Evidence of interested behavior. If here were a US origin fake NRI he would have left long ago as many have done so.

Please stop taking it personal and live and let live.

Tremors were felt across north-western areas of Pakistan after a 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan's border area with Tajikistan late on Sunday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department website.

The epicentre of the earthquake was reported at a depth of 86 kilometres.

AOA!!!
Allah is very kind to Pakis who gave another opportunity to earn (beg) billions of dollars.

AoA,
Why are repeatedly earthquakes striking Pakiland hain ji?

Is it because Nawaz Sharif is planning to libralise pakistani society?

He narrated an account of a meeting with Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, during the time when the PM was in exile in Saudi Arabia.
“Mian Sahib had vowed in front of me at the Masjid-i-Nabvi that if the Almighty gave him another chance, then he would eradicate interest-based economy from the country and implement Sharia law in Pakistan.”

Did the revered Maulana hear things right? Maybe Nawaz promised to implement Sharia law in Pakistan?

So many conspiracy theories these days.

But just wait till next year, when the "gender gap" is likely to decrease, and the Pakis will surely jump up in ratings! Just the other day, Maryam Sharif ( PM in waiting to inherit the "family business" and unofficial incharge of "Women's Affairs" was gifted 20 Million by Massa for the express purpose of promoting girls' education (and indirectly closing the gender gap, making Pakistan "a little bit more liberal" and in the process incurring the "wrath" of the country's maulanas ); Of course, this is all providing that the funds are spend for that specific purpose, no ghost schools are built, and the moolah is not siphoned by Ganja & Co.

Paki Entertainer, Hamza Ali Abbas Publicly Denies That He Is Ahmedi
WOW...got a call from a news channel producer who asked me to come open about me being a Ahmedi. I am not Ahmedi. I believe that There is only ONE God and Muhammad (S.A.W) is his LAST & FINAL Messenger and Prophet. But I support Ahmedis and every other minority group's right to freely practice their belief and faith. PLEASE understand my fellow PAKISTANIS, ITS ISLAM THAT DEMANDS FROM YOU TO PROTECT THE MINORITIES NO MATTER WHAT. PLEASE UNDERSTAND BEFORE WE DESTROY OURSELVES.

He has defined himself as a "liberal" ; now he is going to be on someone's "hit list" and an open target like Salman Taseer

CRamS has been there for longer than that in an older avatar, and I have supported him to the extent of opposing admin action against him. I have also been gentle in pointing out when he has been unfair and behaving MUTU.

But I find the connection he has made between cricket with Pakistan and the US government attitudes to business with enemy nations odious. Negotiations between private sports bodies should not be presented as a touchstone of efficiency of governance and comparisons with US businesses being held back from dealings with enemy nations fail to take into account the fact that the much admired US government continued to allow into the US, and play with teams from the USSR, east Germany, Cuba and Iran over the years.

Posting news reports of Pakistani officials hoping for a series with India and trying to pass that off as an important diplomatic event that needs prime ministerial attention is simply an indicator of obsession with cricket when there are a thousand other sets of Indian and Pakistani interactions going on - some of which are important enough to get the PM's attention. Aside from cricket I see no mention of other sports - such as the Hockey tournament where India won a final against Pakistan yesterday. I also see no reference to the death of Col Hardik or the injury yesterday of a Lt Colonel in a battle is is still going on as I write this. But it is cricket that requires prime ministerial attention - the lack of which will be very disappointing to a certain cricket lover on this forum. This obsession with cricket only helps Pakistan in the one area where they have a hold on cricket mad Indian minds

Not mentioning Pakistani Cricket Board statements as topics for discussion on this thread and not posting links to Paki media with such statements is, to my mind as desirable as not cheering Indian cricket victories over Pakistan on here. Both foster and encourage an India-Pakistan equalequal. ("Arch rivals" "Cricket is a religion" "I wish Indians would play more Cricket than kill Kashmiris".) Cricket needs to be dropped as an important topic of Indian and Paki interaction. Matches with them may be unavoidable because of international obligations that the government should not try and control, just like the US could not stop Olympic participation of enemy nation's teams. Any matches that India is obligated to play because of agreements should not be raised on here as a great diplomatic loss from an incompetent government. That is chicanery.

Would you be kind enough to provide me with links to the Indian contact act so I can read it and educate myself? And of course pick holes in the argument if necessary?

RamanaGaru, much appreciated for stepping in and attempting to put an end to this nonsense. I promised and continue to do, i.e., not dignify by responding to this crude personal piskological, illogical rants directed against me for some perverse reason, as it serves no purpose. I hope other admins will also step in and warn this ranter (and I have reported his abuse). Of course, should they chose not to, like you did, I respect that as well.

Added later: RamanaGaru, I would ask you as other admins, that while my position articulated as follows may be disagreeable to some, some can chose to reply expressing their disagreement, and some can simply ignore if they feel I added no value (not every post on BR is responded to), but I see no reason for crass personal attacks. Simply unacceptable.

ModiJi-led Indian govt had this position that no kirket till TSP address terror.

In fact, kirket and other pee-pee contact stuff is a huge leverage India has over TSP. This is a fact. (Ideally, I would say no pee pee contact as people like Minhaz Merchant have prescribed, but no kirket is a good step in the right direction).

Next, BCCI and PCB have be negotiating resumption kirket. Once again a fact despite what the ranter thinks. Also, any agreement to resume kirket has to be approved by India govt according to MoU. I posted a report that explicitly mentions so.

And I ask if ModuJi has approved this resumption, and if so, what could TSP have done on the terror front to warrant this largess.

I disagree respectfully with the position of some posters that ModiJi has no control over BCCI. He does.

Many other countries including USA do routinely bar private companies and govt entities to do any business with countries they deem as a national security risk. I see no reason why India can't do the same with BCCI, and in fact that has been India's position, i.e., no kirket with TSP till terror concerns are met.

Finally, I will respect ModiJi's decision because he probably has more intelligence info than I do, and if he has approved kirket while opposing it till now, perhaps he has good reason to do so (although I see no evidence of TSP having delivered on terror. And I will be disappointed to see India lose a key leverage it has over TSP).

Thus, to re-iterate, one can disagree with my positions (Nachiket and A_GuptaJi do for example, many others simply ignored), but it absolutely does not justify crude personal rants directed against me. It violates forum guidelines.
