‘Pakistan trying to defuse Saudi-Iran Tension

After, being in "bed with the Saudis" for so long, and after sensing the winds of change following the US-Iran Nuclear Deal and the anticipated lifting of the economic embargo, Pakis now want to ditch one Ummah Abbu and want to play the role of a Honest Broker Remains to be seen, if there are any "buyers", in view of their "special" reputation

Exports should not be looked at isolated from imports. Imported crude prices have reduced and impacted the export prices of processed products. Similarly, global demand has slackened and hence exports are affected.

sukhish Ji :

Please check at the following link the Import figures on the Ministry of Commerce and Industry site for the Exports and Imports from April 2015 Onward. Here is the Link :

http://www.goidirectory.nic.in/ministri ... x.php?ct=6

You will find the Balance of Trade figures for 2015 April to November are nearly the same as 2014 April-November.

Nawaz lacked the power - authority to prevent the attack.

Yet, he is going to have the power - authority to act against the Pakis who planned and controlled the attack?

Wife Of Paki Foreign Secretary "Rewarded"
Foreign secretary’s wife leases out Rs10 billion plot in Islamabad
SLAMABAD (Online) – The wife of Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad has reportedly leased out a Rs10 billion plot in the capital city’s sector H-8 to Roots International School.
FOW, an organisation of FO officers’ wives, has been registered as an NGO, which had obtained a plot of several acres in sector H-8 for the construction of a school. But the organisation failed to construct the school despite lapse of several years.
Now this NGO has decided to lease out the billion rupees plot to Roots School International.
Sources told Online that FOW has not even obtained No Objection Certificate (NOC) from CDA and ministry of education in this regard.
The sitting president of FOW is the wife of Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad, and she will sign the agreement while the owner of Roots schools is son-in-law of Senator Raheela Magsi.
So, Ganja has "no objections", if his "loyal servants" are rewarded and kept "happy". More fodder for Immy !

Saar,
You be very tolerant onlee.

@sukhish: what are you on man ? One feeble statement by Pakis offering to settle Saudi Iran fracas and you deduce that Saudi and Iran will mediate in Kashmir.
This isnt Dhoti shivering. This is dhoti disintegration.

Iran mortars Pakis regularly and for Saudis , Pakis are the perennial bhikmangas.

They will meddle in Kashmir for Pakis ?!

Guys, good analysis debunking Aja Shukla's anal-ysis which one must read keeping in mind his pathological hatred of BJP/ModiJi/Doval

http://www.rediff.com/news/column/doval ... 160105.htm

But if people accuse me of being pessimistic, so be it, but what I find deeply despondent is that here we are under a barbaric assault by a terrorist abomination supported and aided by all major world power, but we as a people are fighting with each other through a comical blame game. Does this say something about us as a people?

There may be a lapse here and there, there may have been incompetence, but is this the time to score points? Heaven's sake, the outrage should be against the real perpetrators and their masters. Not ModiJi. Not Doval. Not RSS. Not "Modi Bhakts".

I strongly object to the off-topic digressions on this thread. There is the whole "Technology & Economic Forum" with multiple threads there to discuss the Indian economy, exports, imports, specific industrial sectors, etc. etc. I request the moderator to do some massive deletes (including this post), and remove everything not relevant to Pakistan & India's initiatives and responses with respect to Pakistan.

rajithn wrote:The Express Tribune
Modi urges Pakistan to take 'immediate action' after base attack

By AFP
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Pakistan to take immediate action after the attack on an Indian air force base in Pathankot.
Modi “strongly emphasised the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against the organisations and individuals responsible for and linked to the Pathankot terrorist attack,” the Indian government said in a statement, after Modi spoke by telephone to Nawaz Sharif.
“PM Nawaz called Modi to convey sorrow and grief on the loss of life in Pathankot terror attack,” a PM House statement said. “PM stated that terrorists always try to derail the peace process between the two countries.”
Further, the PM was quoted as saying that Pakistan will investigate in detail on the leads and information provided by the government of India. “Both the premiers showed resolve to fight out terrorism together through mutual cooperation,” the statement added.
Modi’s office said New Delhi had given Islamabad “specific and actionable information” on the audacious attack, which came just days after a landmark visit to Pakistan by the Indian premier raised hopes of improved relations.
Security officials suspect the gunmen — five of whom were killed — belonged to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, the group that staged a 2001 attack on the Indian parliament which brought the two countries to the brink of war.

In a statement, Modi’s office said Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Nawaz had telephoned him to discuss the attack on the Pathankot base in the northern state of Punjab near the border with Pakistan.
Modi “strongly emphasised the need for Pakistan to take firm and immediate action against the organisations and individuals responsible for and linked to the Pathankot terrorist attack,” said the statement.
“Specific and actionable information in this regard has been provided to Pakistan.” It said Nawaz had given assurances that his government would take “prompt and decisive action”.
Officially, India has not yet pointed finger at Pakistan. The National Security Guard (NSG), which leading the operation at the base, merely said it was a Fidayeen attack – which means the attackers knew they were going to their death. “These terrorists had come well prepared and were heavily armed” the NSG said in a short briefing.
Further, the United States on Tuesday said it ‘expects’ Pakistan to act against Indian air base attackers and target militant groups.
Moreover, Modi held a meeting with top officials, including national security adviser Ajit Doval and foreign secretary S Jaishankar to discuss the incident.

Conclusion: Modi-ji giving the benefit of the doubt to Ganja Sharif ; Modi-ji believes NS not in the loop re: Deep State shenanigans ; remains to be seen if Ganja Sharif has the cojones to "control" Deep State
-----------------------------------------------------

What if, NM is not giving Sharif the "benefit of the doubt"? My opinion: NM trusts Sharief as much as he would trust a viper. I would say an inflection point is being forced. Whether that will happen or not..or happen in the manner we desire or not..is not known. But I trust AD to have played out the options/outcomes (gamed them, as many would like to call it).

Insofar as the Pathankot terror attack: I think it was a foregone conclusion that the plan was beyond v1 (the point of no return). It had to happen - if luck favoured us we would be in a position to kill the buggers before they attacked..or kill them after engagement.

There was no way Sharif could have recalled the attack. He never did have that power in that country. Therefore, it "could" have been that NM told Sharief that an attack is in the offing (the previous whispers to each other "perhaps" an early warning from NM that he has information that an attack is going to take place but he doesn't know where)..culminating in the Lahore visit where specifics were told to Sharief. Now Sharief is expected to play a role which will have its consequences. And we will react accordingly. Whether that will lead to some 'shock-and-awe' measure that we would all so LOVE to see...or something more nuanced..that's something we will have to wait and see.

This scenario alone supports the basis of the argument that Pathankot was not a reaction to NM's visit. Rather, that Pathankot was already planned and a "go" from the 'powers' in Pakistan AND NM's visit was to make sure Sharief knew. And a subliminal message to the 'powers' in Pakistan that NM can walk into their den whenever he wants.
Wow!! So Modi knew and he decided to whisper in Ganja's ears that he knew, while Indians don't hear pipsqueak about an impending terror attack. I think we have been watching too much of the never ending Indian soap operas.

Speculation, self gratification via mental masturbation. That's what the above is.

Sunni Terrorist Fragments of Unstable Pakistan tried doing an == with India yet again but were reminded of their Aukaat by Blackberry/Research in Motion.

Paki govt had asked Blackberry to give it access to BB's encryption or shut shop. BB flat out refused and decided to shut shop in Paki land. Realizing its aukaat in front of Blackberry, Paki govt withdrew its demand for data access and BB will continue operations in Pak.

GPL to Paki govt. by Blackberry
In last week's blog post, Beard suggested that Pakistani authorities capitulated to BlackBerry's resistance. "We are grateful to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Pakistani government for accepting BlackBerry’s position that we cannot provide the content of our customers’ BES traffic, nor will we provide access to our BES servers," he wrote.

BlackBerry has been less resilient when faced with government demands for user data in other countries. In 2013, company provided the Indian government with real-time access to emails, BBM chats, and browsing habits of its internet services customers, and has reportedly reached data sharing agreements with Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

http://www.dawn.com/news/1231058/after-pathankot
After Pathankot
The telephone call yesterday between prime ministers Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif suggests that the political establishments at least are willing to see if the diplomatic approach can yield results. Whatever evidence, if any, India finds about the involvement of Pakistan-based actors in the Pathankot IAF base attack should be shared promptly and in full with Islamabad. Then, as Mr Sharif has pledged, Pakistan should investigate urgently, and take action where necessary. Already, though, there has been a public lead provided — and possibly a gauntlet thrown down to the Pakistani state. The claim by Syed Sadaqat Husain, a spokesperson for the United Jihad Council, an umbrella jihadi group based in Azad Kashmir, that the UJC is responsible for the Pathankot incident has created several problems for Pakistan.Whether the UJC did in fact launch the attack or not — a hitherto unknown branch of the UJC, the National Highway Squad, has been credited with the attack — the claim will invariably draw yet more scrutiny of anti-India militants based inside Pakistan, and in Kashmir in particular. The UJC leadership, which has with varying degrees of success put together a disparate group of militants over the past two decades, is believed to be politically close to the Pakistani state, but its role in militancy has been doubtful for many years, particularly since the Musharraf-era freeze on cross-LoC attacks. Has that changed? Or have elements inside the UJC gone rogue? If the state wants to convey that it speaks with one voice and that dialogue resumption between India and Pakistan is the result of a consultative process and consensus decision-making, then it must demonstrate that the UJC claim is being taken seriously. It cannot be that Mr Sharif tells his Indian counterpart that terrorists always try and derail the peace process between the two countries, and then the state here tries to sweep under the carpet the claims of an armed attack made by a group whose leadership is based in Pakistan. If the UJC claim is a ruse, it should be exposed as such. If not, the architects of the Pathankot attack need to be brought to justice.
( As suspected, all those Kashmiri Jihadis will lose so called Independent/ 3rd party status and matter to be settled b'ween2 states. On to India's Simla, Musharraf Imla, Sharif's Dimla etc)

By throwing UJC under the juggernaut, Badmash and Jaheel can still preserve the jihadi/orc factory (LeT, JeM etc.) and thus retain capability while getting rid of admitted non-performer.

"Higher Than Mountain Fliend" Invites "Shamseer" And "Nasr" On East China Sea Trip
China, Pak naval ships complete drills in East China Sea
The Chinese and Pakistani navies today concluded their two-day naval exercises in the East China Sea in which two ships each from both sides took part.
This is the first time navies of both the countries conducted exercises in the East China Sea which separates China and Japan, official media here reported. Two missile ships from each of their fleets took part in the exercises, state-run CCTV reported.(the junket was probably paid in full by the Chinese in view of the precarious financial situation of the Pakis )
The exercises included anti-submarine drills, air defence, anti missile and mock confrontations. Commanders of China and Pakistan gave instructions in rotation.
So both commanders are "completely bi-lingual "?
The Pakistani naval ships Shamsheer and Nasr arrived in Shanghai on December 28 to take part in joint naval exercises in a bid to boost defence cooperation with their Chinese counterpart.
"It is a very significant exercise which will enhance the interoperability and cohesion between the two navies," Bilal Abdul Nasir, Commander ofPakistan's 25th Destroyer Squadron told state-run Global Times.
A total of 591 officers and soldiers (along with their family ? ) are on board in the two Pakistani vessels.(for the free ride?)

Crocodile tears continue.

"Nawaz assures support after Modi’s call for action"
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif currently in Sri Lanka on an official visit yesterday approached his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and assured him all-out cooperation in hunting down the perpetrators of Pathankot airbase attack, hours after their national security advisers spoke to each other.

Acknowledging the urgency of the situation, Nawaz Sharif placed the call from Colombo and the conversation indicated that both prime ministers were in favour of continuing the recently renewed diplomatic engagement.

According to a Foreign Office statement in Islamabad, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the two leaders showed resolve to fight terrorism together through mutual cooperation.

The prime minister who conveyed his sorrow and grief to the Indian counterpart over the losses in Pathankot attack and said terrorists always try to derail the process of peace between the two countries.

New Delhi has provided Islamabad with what it says ‘actionable information’ about the potential plotters of Pathankot terror attack and Pakistan said it immediately launched investigations in the light of ‘Indian leads’.

The leads were first shared by Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval with his Pakistani counterpart Lt Gen (Retd) Nasser Janjua who is also accompanying the Prime Minister Sharif in his Sri Lanka visit.

Playing with fire: China always blocks UN attempt to ban Masood Azhar - Dipanjan Roy Chaudhury, Economic Times

China supports Pakistani Islamist terror activities ina quid-pro-quo agreement with that state that Pakistan would not encourage the Uyghur separatist movement through ETIM and Pakistan does not speak against China's humiliating oppression of the Uyghur Muslims. China considers Pakistani support as essential to its hardline policy. Several !years back, China also signed an MoU with Jama'at-e-Islami !
The attack on the Pathankot air base has once again brought the focus back on terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and its mentor Maulana Masood Azhar. The efforts by the United Nations in the past to ban the JeM did not yield results due to China's intransigence on the matter at the behest of Pakistan.

The JeM has been designated as a terrorist organisation in several countries, including Australia, Canada, India, the UAE, the UK and the US. It may be recalled that Maulana Masood Azhar, who formed Jaish-e-Mohammed and was released in December 1999 during a swap for passengers of hijacked Indian Airlines Flight IC-814, was suspected to be behind last Saturday's attack. The JeM was also accused of attacking Parliament in 2001 and is alleged to have made a failed attempt on the life of then Pak President Pervez Musharraf.

In 2009, India had impressed upon the UN Security Council to ban Azhar but China, one of the five permanent members of the group with Veto Powers, blocked the UNSC sanctions against the JeM chief, ostensibly at the behest of Pakistan. The then UPA government provided detailed information to China about Azhar's involvement in terror activities in India and hoped that Beijing would support the move.

China argued that it did not have the necessary information about Azhar's involvement in terrorism. China had also used the "failed to provide sufficient information" alibi to block the UNSC sanctions against al-Akhtar Trust, a JeM front. In 2010, China placed on "technical hold" India's request to name Azhar, and Abdur Rehman Makki and Azam Cheema of Lashkar on the 1267 sanctions list of the UN. However, the Pathankot attack may now again bring the focus back on the JeM at the UN high table. Officials indicated the process to censure groups like JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba at the UN was a legal and ongoing one. They pointed to a recent unsuccessful effort by the US to censure LeT at the UN.

Beijing is also blocking efforts to censure LeT at the UN. In mid-2015, China had blocked an effort by India to question Pakistan at the UN sanctions committee (as per resolution 1267) over the releaseof Zaki-ur-RehmanLakhvi, the LeT commander behind 26/11. It has argued that India has not provided "sufficient information" in support of its case. Beijing has thrice blocked India's bids to get Jamaat-ud-Dawa added to the UNSC terror list (JuD was finally added to the list in December 2008). China also stalled India's bid to get Hizbul Mujahideen's Syed Salahuddinaddedtothe1267sanctions list in early 2015.{Now that the UJC has openly declared about the Pathankot terror act, India must ask the UN to do the needful once again}

The UNSC resolution 1267, adopted on October 15, 1999, on the situation in Afghanistan, designated Osama bin Laden and associates as terrorists and established a sanctions regime to cover individuals and entities associated with Al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and/or the Taliban.

It is curious that Pak civil Govt told US in advance of Pathankot terror attack about it. US informed India--who? No action!!
I think NSA Doval took all the necessary action. He found the intended target and put it on alert with additional troops. Yet, the terrorists got into airforce base. This just exposes the gaps in internal security. And there are others busy taking potshots at Modi or Doval. Some wanted a war even while the terrorists were still being eliminated.

It is not Modi or Doval's fault. They are simply leading a weak country of a billion people, who consider themselves to be very smart and who will not let Modi or Doval do anything to convert India from a weak country to a strong country.

Pakistan's ISI is behind Pathankot air base attack: Bruce Riedel, former top White House official - PTI
Pakistan's powerful intelligence agency ISI is behind the attack on Pathankot air base in Punjab using a terrorist group it created 15 years ago, a former top White House official has said.

Bruce Riedel, who worked in the National Security Council of the White House and was among the few present at the Bill Clinton-Nawaz Sharif meeting in 1999 during Kargil war, said the attack is designed to prevent any detente between India and Pakistan after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's surprise Christmas Day visit to Pakistan.

In an article in the Daily Beast, Riedel said the attacks in Pathankot and on the Indian Consulate in Mazar-e Sharif in northern Afghanistan was the handiwork of Pakistani terror group Jaish-e-Muhammad which the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) created 15 years ago.

He quoted "well-informed press and other knowledgeable sources" for his assessment.

"Any diminution in tensions with India might risk the army's lock on its control of Pakistan's national security policy. The army continues to distinguish between 'good' terrorists like JEM and LET and 'bad' terrorists like the Pakistani Taliban, despite decades of lectures from American leaders," he said.

"An army coup in 1999 sent him into exile in Saudi Arabia for a decade. His warm embrace of Modi on Christmas Day in his home in Lahore undoubtedly angered the generals," he said.

He noted that the US put JeM on the terrorist sanctions list years ago -- but it continues to coddle the Pakistani army.

{Purpose of this article by Reidel mian}

"Gen Raheel Sharif, the army's boss, got a warm embrace from the Pentagon last fall--despite the ISI support for the Afghan Taliban's offensive against the Kabul government and despite the Pakistani military's backing of terror groups like JeM," he said.

Given the Bakjabi genius for tactical brilliance, I'm thinking they're going to manufacture the next major incident in Bangladesh where Sheikh Hasina's government has publicly b!tchslapped Bakistan and its hirelings a fair few times in the past few months.

I think that even by getting one Masood Azhar, we won't able to make a dent in the anti-India terror eco system.
Just like the US haven't achieved squat by killing Osama or Mullah Omar.
Not only should the training camps & logistics be targeted, but also the people who sanction such a setup have to be thrashed, made to brown their pants.
That is the definition of deterrence against the peculiar brand of evil called Pakistan.
