RAW officer’ arrested, says Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti
Bakistan security forces have arrested a man who they claim was “a serving officer in the Indian Navy and deputed to the Indian intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW)” in Balochistan province on Thursday, local media reported. A report on the Dawn newspaper’s website quoted Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti as claiming that an “an Indian spy” was arrested from the southern part of the province.
He also claimed that the alleged “spy” was sponsoring terrorist activities in Balochistan, the report said. A PTI report, quoting Bugti, said the man “has been identified as Bhushan Yadav”. A Pakistani security official told Dawn that the “RAW officer” had been taken to Islamabad for interrogation. The official told the newspaper that the “Indian national” had been suspected to be involved in “various acts of terrorism and other subversive activities in Balochistan”. The unnamed official was quoted as claiming that the man was involved in acts of sectarian terrorism and attacks in Karachi as well

RAW officer’ arrested, says Balochistan Home Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti

Indian arrested in Pakistan not a RAW agent, says Govt - PTI, Business Line
A former Indian Navy officer has been arrested in Pakistan for alleged involvement in “subversive” activities in Balochistan, but India quickly distanced itself from him by stating that he had no link with the government since his “premature retirement” from the navy.

Kul Yadav Bhushan, described by Pakistan as a Commander-rank officer of the Indian Navy working for intelligence agency RAW, was arrested yesterday reportedly from Chaman area of the restive province of Balochistan. He has been shifted to Islamabad for interrogation.

Pakistan summoned Indian High Commissioner Gautam Bambawale to lodge its protest over “subversive activities” of an alleged RAW officer.

“The Indian High Commissioner was summoned by the Foreign Secretary today and through a demarche conveyed our protest and deep concern on the illegal entry into Pakistan by a RAW officer and his involvement in subversive activities in Balochistan and Karachi,” the Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.

Reacting to the development, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson in New Delhi Vikas Swarup said the matter was raised today by Pakistan’s Foreign Secretary with the Indian High Commissioner in Islamabad.

“The said individual has no link with Government since his premature retirement from Indian Navy. We have sought consular access to him.

“India has no interest in interfering in internal matters of any country and firmly believes that a stable and peaceful Pakistan is in the interest of all in the region,” he said.

Pakistan had accused India of stoking violence in Balochistan and Karachi in the past but it is for the first time that it has claimed arresting a RAW officer.

India has dismissed all such allegations.

Cut a few days off Eid for our sake, say minority lawmakers
ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly displayed exceptionally high regard for religious minorities  on Thursday as non-Muslim MNAs suggested that days be shaved off the Eid holidays so that national holidays could be observed on Hindu festivals as well.
While on the topic, he could have also "suggested" that the majority community to "do something " on forcible conversion to Mailsi of Hindu/Christian girls , trumped up blasphemy charges, desecration of minority places of worship, systematic discrimination etc etc

Brussels attacks: The responsibility to counter jihadism lies with us Muslims

The first step is to admit the attackers are Muslims. The second is to stop looking at others to blame

Another day, another blast.

More innocent deaths.

At least 34 people were killed today after explosions ripped through Brussels airport and metro station. With over a 100 injured, many critically; the toll number is expected to rise.

Eyewitnesses say that after hearing the loud boom, they were literally blown back by its force. There was a lot of blood in the elevators as ceilings started to collapse in the affected areas.

Just imagine you are at the airport perhaps in an immigration line, getting something to eat or browsing through the duty free and a blast occurs and you or your companion dies. Just like that. Blown to pieces.

You were just a regular person trying to live your life with nothing to do with the terrorists or their reasons for wanting to kill you.

A sad reality but most of the Muslims worldwide immediately started wondering whether the culprits were Muslims while simultaneously dreading the answer, which they already knew in their hearts. Especially when the accounts of Arabic being spoken everywhere started coming in.

As always, the social media statuses started popping up about how bad this makes Islam look. That was their concern. Not the people dead. Just that it makes Islam look bad.

Followed right after by the escapists’ route, ‘Oh, they can’t be Muslims. Muslims don’t do this. Muslims don’t kill.’

As twisted as the terrorists are, as sickening is their literal and inaccurate interpretation of everything, they ARE Muslims. Baghdadi has a doctorate in Islamic studies for heavens’ sake!

To think that Muslims are incapable of doing bad things is simply closing your eyes to reality.

Security experts suggest that ISIS is responsible for the attack. It was to take revenge for the arrest of Salah Abdeslam (responsible for planning the French attacks).

Quite a number of ISIS supporters celebrated the tragic attacks on Twitter. Some of whom were not actively part of ISIS but just regular folks who believed what they were doing was right.

One wrote:

“The state will force you to reevaluate your ways a thousand times before you are emboldened to kill Muslims again, and know that Muslims now have a state to defend them.”

While another wrote:

“The group has time and time again issued statements that it will have no mercy in targeting those who are supporting the US and who are fighting against the group.”

Really? What about Turkey?

Why did the terrorists go and explode there?

What about Nigeria?

What does they have to do with all this?

And then the most favorite excuse of the apologists without openly agreeing to ISIS, “you reap what you sow.” Again, what does Brussels have to do with US attacking Iraq?

More attacks are expected in other European countries. Why? Aren’t they the ones taking in the Muslim refugees? Giving them shelter, a place to stay?

All this sounds more like, “bite the hand that feeds you” than anything else.

The first step to be done is to admit these are Muslims. They are. You can fight it but you cannot deny the truth.

The second step is to stop looking at others to blame. “Oh, but you did this, and your policy was this, this is why they are bombing you.”

No. They are excuses.

And no need to even bring in the counter attack, “What about Palestine?” Er… yes, what about it? It has absolutely nothing to do with these attacks.

“Islamophobia. Islamophobia” chants also need to go. This is just the easy way out if you ask me.

Don’t bring in Trump and his bigotry either. We constantly blame him for stereotyping and that he wants to send Muslims away. What about us Pakistanis? What percentage of us constantly wants Afghanis gone from Pakistan?

Be honest. It is a very large and disturbing number. We want to go to another country and be accepted as their citizen, while we 30 years later still are not willing to accept those who came into our country as our own. We simply want them gone.

Also, if people like Trump are stereotyping, it has to be accepted that it is us Muslims ourselves who are responsible for it. This is an issue for all Muslims. We have to do something about it, instead of playing victim again and again on repeat.

We need to be the change. Condemn every terrorist attack. Not justify it. Or make excuses or look for holes in the ground to stick our heads in.

We can’t go to another country and act likes aliens for the rest of our lives. We need to integrate and act the way we want others to think we are like.

The responsibility lies with us. No one else.

Paki Style - Real Politik
By Hajam Sethi
General (retired) Pervez Musharraf is a free man in Dubai despite the fact that he is being concurrently tried in several cases of high treason and murder. No civilian can ever hope to get such extraordinarily lenient treatment from the government, opposition and courts of Pakistan.
General Musharraf was a successful coup-maker. As such, he had clearly committed high treason...
For five years, he roamed Pakistan and the world, lecturing and posturing, but no party charged him with high treason and no court took notice  .
Then, in a grand display of high opportunism on the eve of the 2013 elections, the Senate – not the National Assembly — passed a unanimous resolution against him, demanding a trial for high treason. The Supreme Court now stepped in, contributing to the façade, and added all the legal reasons why he should be tried for treason and ordered a caretaker government to put him on ECL. When the PMLN formed government, the SC duly ordered it to lodge a treason case against Gen Musharraf. Suddenly, the SC under Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, the PMLN under Nawaz Sharif, and PPP under Asif Zardari, had all woken up to take cognisance of the general’s treason.
From Day One, the treason and other trials have been a farce. The judges have been too scared to even order the government to produce Musharraf in court. The hospitals have been too scared to deny him medical certificates of ill-health. (Scared of the "elephant in the room " ie Deep State !)
First, regardless of who is army chief, the military as an institution will simply not allow civilians to put any general, let alone an army chief, in the dock for whatever reason, let alone for making a coup. Second, both army chiefs Ashfaq Kayani and Raheel Sharif personally owed General Musharraf and were bound to protect him, the former for paving the way to his succession and the latter for long standing “family” relations which allowed him to be promoted to three stars.
So, Hajam Sethi is reinforcing the (true ) perception that civilian rule in Pakiland is a farce; ultimately, it is the khakis who call the shots !
When this message was lost on Mr Sharif, the army destabilized him to the point of almost kicking him out, then humiliated the government and judiciary by stopping them from dragging Musharraf to the courts. Eventually, Mr Sharif learnt his lesson and stopped resisting the military for his own political survival.
It was a foregone conclusion that Musharraf would eventually be a free man and the cases against him would die a slow “natural” death owing to neglect and lack of interest.
And Ganja Sharif will "retire" to his estate in Raiwand and become an "elder" statesman for his party and make sure that no corruption charges can be levied against him in the future !
It can also be safely predicted that Musharraf will return to Pakistan and leave Pakistan at will in the future. :rotfl:

Ex Paki Envoy - Hussein Haqqani - Signs Three More Book Deals

In case the boys thought they had finished off HH, our erstwhile man in Washington, for good, he is proving them wrong. Unfazed by the unresolved, unproven memodrama, our man has re-emerged on the international speaking circuit and has signed three new book deals for 2016. He was seen on the podium in Sharjah recently with Amal Clooney, former UK Foreign Secretary David Miliband, former French PM Dominique Villepin and former New Zealand PM, alongside Gulf royalty. Now that’s a crowd most of his former bosses don’t get to hang out with. And apparently they pay him to speak! -thefridaytimes.
So, this once rabid Islamist, turned peacenik is cultivating the company of the high and mighty - smart move, in case the Deep State wants to "do something" to him
Now wait for more "insider secrets" and more headaches for the powers to be in his home nation !

Pakistani Hindus show concerns on arrest of alleged Indian spy in Balochistan
ISLAMABAD: Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council and Member National Assembly Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has shown extreme concerns on the media reports, regarding the arrest of Indian spy agency “RAW” agent in Balochistan.
Talking to the media outside Parliament House today, he termed the incident as conspiracy against the Pak-India peace process, and regretted that whenever there is some hope for peace, such incidents start to happen with a purpose to fulfill the vested interests. /quote]
Do they expect him to come out with a pro-India statement !!
Dr. Ramesh Vankwani called the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as the bright future of whole region, and said that cooperation from the Government of China could also be beneficial for investigating the alleged spy.( :?: ) Answering another question, he lauded the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his active role to celebrate the Hindu festival “Holi”, and termed this a positive sign for promotion of interfaith harmony in the country.

See my short response in the media thread. Here is the long response:

1. the 'sensible' baki is preparing for a canadian or us or fuk visa. Most likely the last one. Both literally and figuratively.

What is a 'sensible' baki?

A 'sensible' baki will express the following traits:

1. Do not bring in cashmere and do blame the rest of the malsis for cashmere
2. Do not bring in 'Yindoo' India. And show complete remorse on partition, & the genocide in '47 and '71 and accept the blame. Also accept the blame for fomenting terrorism.
3. Do not defend bakistan in anyway.
4. Do agree that Makkah and Medinah needs a Hindu temple, a Jewish synagogue and a parsi fire temple
5. Do agree that Ayodhya and Mathura should be returned to the Hindus and bakis will pay for the cost
6. Do away with Sharia
7. Accept that Saudi Barbarians are just that.

And that sir is a sensible baki. Till that time they are just bunch of idiots suffering from a disease called 'Bakistaniyat'.

NAB official says NBP concealed reports from Bangladesh
ISLAMABAD: The top management at the National Bank of Pakistan concealed reports it received from Bangladesh over the Rs18.5 billion scam, said an official of the National Accountability Bureau on Thursday amid a push from a parliamentary panel to move quicker against the executives.

While briefing the National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance on the Rs18.5 billion scam in NBP Bangladesh operations, Abdul Hafeez Khan, director operations of NAB headquarters, said the fraud was not possible without involvement of NBP officials posted in the head office.

SLAMABAD (APP) – Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf on Friday informed the National Assembly that no financial assistance has so far been provided by the Saudi Arabia government to the heirs of Pakistani Hajj pilgirms who died in Mina stampede last year.

While the rest would be compensated/finalised on receipt of the supporting documents from their nominees. The nominees are being contacted through letters as well as through telephonic reminders, he added. )

Elements in London, Geneva conspiring against Pakistan: Commander Southern Command :((
QUETTA: A day after security forces claimed the arrest of a suspected Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) agent in Balochistan, Commander Southern Command Lt Gen Aamer Riaz accused elements sitting in London and Geneva of 'hatching conspiracies against the stability of Pakistan'.
Speaking at a Youm-i-Shuhada event (more "Shaheeds" commemorated ?) on Friday, Commander Southern Command said the RAW agent had contact with separatist elements in Balochistan and was involved in a number of terrorist and subversive activities in the province.
The arrest of the suspected RAW officer comes just days before a possible meeting between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington.

Cwapistan's latest SNAFU:

Crucial headcount: Govt noncommittal on fresh census deadline
24-03-2016 - ISLAMABAD: The government is reluctant to set a fresh deadline for a long overdue population census, lending credence to a widespread belief that the crucial national headcount has been put off for an indefinite time.

Last week, the parliamentary secretary for finance, Rana Afzal, told lawmakers in the National Assembly that the government was waiting for the army’s nod because a large number of troops were required for the massive exercise.

CCI unanimously postpones population census due to unavailability of troops
25-03-2016 - ISLAMABAD: The Council of Common Interest (CCI) has unanimously decided to postpone the long overdue population census due to unavailability of troops which is essential to ensure man-to-man coverage as well as to lend credibility and security to the census operation.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the council held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at the PM House in Islamabad on Friday.

ToI Link
Sources here disputed Pakistan's claim about the arrested man being a spy. They emphasised that Jadhav, who took premature retirement from the Navy, engaged in a legitimate business of operating ferries from the Iranian port town of Bandar Abbas. "Our suspicion is that he was lured to Pakistan on the pretext of business and then shown as 'arrested' by those who have accused us of making trouble in Balochistan in order to draw an equivalence with their sponsorhip of terrorist activities in India," said a senior functionary. "You don't use a former commissioned naval officer as a spy," he said.

The timing of the "arrest" is interesting. A five-member team of Pakistani investigators is due in India this weekend. They will be taken to Pathankot, where the air base was attacked by Pakistan-based and supported terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammed. They will also be questioned by Indian officials about the progress they have made on the terror investigation inside Pakistan. The present arrest, say sources, will be used to draw parity between Pakistan's activities in India and vice versa. For the past few years, India has been arresting terrorists and who were traced to Pakistan.

In past, Pk has moved their agents from gulf to pakistan areas(in balouchistan) in boats/chartered flights/or even regular PIA flights without visas. It is possible for any person kidnapped/drugged in gulf to be moved to pk in less than 2 hrs in absolute secrecy. Cooking a supporting case is an art in itself.

Diametrically opposed to his public stance over financial irregularities, Imran Khan has argued that citizens do not have the right to demand scrutiny of his party’s account.
In an affidavit submitted to the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman has questioned the right of Pakistani citizens to ask for inspection of accounts of political parties.

When it comes to human rights, womens' rights, etc, he is fond of making comparisons to western societies; now, he should take a leaf from those democracies and reveal the source of his party funds (allegations of Jewish , trust funds diverted for political use ) as is common practice in all democracies to quash rumour of improprieties !)

‘Russia denied Pakistanis entry without a reason’
RAWALPINDI: Some 30 Pakistani business professionals who were denied entry into Russia on suspicions of visa rule violations arrived at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) early on Friday on board Turkish Airlines flight TK-740.
The Russian authorities denied entry to 84 Pakistan business professionals, 49 of whom were from Rawalpindi.
According to the Federal Investigation Agency’s immigration department, the 30 Pakistanis who returned home on Friday were handed over by Turkish Airlines to the Pakistani authorities.
After looking over their documents, Pakistani authorities determined that their visas were genuine and that Russian immigration authorities had denied them entry without a reason.
IMO, this has now become the norm, instead of exception; persons who carry the "Green Passport" are singled out at every airport for "extra treatment" due to their "special reputation"
All these passengers had been awarded(Maybe, they should now ask for an "alternate" award !) a trip to Russia by a mobile phone distribution company for achieving their sales targets.
The 30 passengers from Rawalpindi travelled to Moscow on March 23 from Islamabad on a Turkish Airlines flight via Istanbul. They were denied entry and flew home on the same flight.
“We landed in Moscow and the immigration officers took our passports and started counting the passengers. Half an hour later, we were sent back on the same flight without being given a reason,” Mr Omer said.
This is not correct as earlier press reports indicated that these "lucky prizewinners" did not have hotel bookings and/or sufficient funds to finance their stay in Ruus !
He said that they had valid Russian visas and return tickets, but were still treated like “criminals” in Moscow.
One of the Pakistanis waiting at Ataturk Airport, Rizwan Abbasi, told Dawn over the phone: “We are being treated like criminals. It is the federal government’s duty to make arrangements for us to be brought back to Pakistan.”
Mr Abbasi said no one from the Pakistani embassy had visited them to make sure they were not mistreated.
This is what happens when foreign postings are either auctioned off or decided on "sifarish" basis

The 19 Pakistanis stranded in Istanbul have to wait a long time to use the bathrooms and the food given to them is stale, Rizwan added.
This does not make sense; Turkee is definitely a member of the Ummah Club, but I have first hand information that they are allergic to Pindi Chana, Nihari , Haleem and the like

^^^^ The videos of the Shitistanis who were given special treatment in Moscow shows all the beards who had gone there looked like aam abduls and hardly the businessmen they were projecting themselves as. At most they may be hawking some cheap chinese phones from their 10 X 10 shops. At least some of those beards would have definitely stayed back to either try and get into Europe or maybe spread some pakistaniyat in Russia itself.

Prof. FudhBhoy Discovers The Business Of Malsi
Pervez Hoodbhoy
THE other day I somehow wandered into an Islamabad store which specialises in Islamic honey. I was curious: how might it be different from, say, Australian honey? Would honey with a religious flavour earn me spiritual points as well? Although the storekeepers handed me a glossy 20-page brochure in Urdu, which I read later, I found their answers quite unsatisfactory. Still, the range of their honeys did seem rather appetising.
I was about to open my wallet to buy some varieties when another product caught my eye: ‘Islamic Nuts’. On the shelves were cans of various sizes, inscribed with Quranic verses. The listed contents included pecans and filberts.
The "appendage word" has nothing to do religion; it is nothing but a way to fool/rouse the Aam Abduls !
How could pecans and filberts ever have grown in desert climes? ...
It seemed so fishy that I left the store without buying anything.
But suppose I had indeed decided to buy honey and nuts. My choices for payment would have been two-fold. Apart from plain cash, I could have used my ordinary credit card. Else, my newer Sharia-compliant credit card. (To be honest, I really don’t know why I have two. However, I do recall that the Sharia card salesperson visited me in my office two to three years ago. She was so persuasive and persistent that I surrendered to a second one from her bank.)
The whole concept of "sharia banking" is nothing but a gimmick to give some sort of solace to the followers of Malsi, they are not disobeying the Book !
The wilful use of Islam to sell products continues to reach astonishing new heights every year. When I heard of an ablution bottle that lets you ‘Istinja like a Ninja’, I first thought someone was pulling my leg. How utterly gross! But then it turned out that you can buy it from simplyislam.com in three colors — red, orange, and purple.
The use of the word "Islam" to promote your product or service is nothing but a gimmick to give some sort of false solace to the Aam Abduls of Pakiland !
To conclude: commercialised piety now rakes in profits, reducing religion and spirituality to business. It’s time to get priorities right. Eliminating interest on loans, whether advanced for real or frivolous needs, has so far grabbed all the attention. But would a just God prefer that you pray to Him on a luxury prayer mat — even if purchased with a Sharia-compliant credit card? Why would He give lower priority to the Quranic injunction of adl (justice)? In a system that is unjust at the roots, surely the fight to build a just, sustainable, and compassionate society should take precedence over form and ritual.
The problem with Malsi and its followers is "everything" is looked through the prism of The Religion and it is carried to extreme and ridiculous heights !

Rouhani denies discussing 'RAW's involvement in Balochistan' with Pakistani leadership

ISLAMABAD: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani rejected the claims that the issue of Indian spy agency’s involvement in Pakistan was discussed during his meeting with the country’s leadership, Unadulterated Codleswop DawnNews reported.

President Rouhani said this while addressing a press conference in the federal capital before his return on Saturday.

He was replying to a question regarding the claims made earlier by the Pakistani government about discussing the issue of Research and Analysis Wing's (RAW) involvement in Pakistan's internal affairs.

The Iranian president denied having such a discussion and said, “Whenever Iran comes closer to Pakistan such rumours are spread.”

During the meetings, he said, the two sides held wide ranging discussions for cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and energy as well as the regional and international issues of mutual interest.

About Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, President Rouhani said Iran had almost completed the work on its side of border on the pipeline and would be in a position to provide gas to Pakistan in a few months. “It was now up to Pakistan to initiate work on its side,” he added.

He said Iran could meet all the energy needs of Pakistan. The country was already selling 1,000MW electricity to Pakistan, which could be increased up to 3,000 MW.

Rouhani said Iran was also interested to have connectivity between Gawadar and Chahbahar seaports through roads and shipping lines for a win-win situation to both the countries.

Earlier, the military's media wing had claimed that General Raheel Sharif discussed the issue of RAW's involvement in Pakistan's internal affairs with the Iranian president. A load of Cobblers

The army chief while highlighting the challenges being faced by Pakistan, discussed the alleged involvement of RAW in Pakistani affairs, especially in Balochistan, the ISPR statement had claimed. Nothing but Pork Pies

Ahmedi Muslim In Britain Murdered !
British-Pakistani murdered by fellow Muslim for posting Easter message

A British-Pakistani shopkeeper in Glasgow succumbed to his wounds after being stabbed by a fellow Muslim on Thursday for posting social media messages wishing his customers a happy Easter.
Asad Shah, 40, was stabbed 30 times by a Muslim man wearing a long religious robe, according to Daily Mail. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital after being found seriously injured in Minard Road, Shawlands.
“Good Friday and very happy Easter, especially to my beloved Christian nation x!” the 40-year-old had posted from an account that appears to be his.A 32-year-old Muslim man suspected of being behind the attack has been arrested. The police are treating it as a “religiously prejudiced” attack.
Paki newspaper failed to mention that the victim ( as per other reports ) was an Ahmedi Muslim, most likely targeted by a fellow Paki !

PIA plane crashes into jetty after landing at Karachi airport
Civil Aviation sources said that it has been decided to conduct a medical check-up of the pilot to ascertain his mental and physical health.
The crash caused damage to the plane’s left engine while its doors remained locked and more than 200 passengers were trapped for almost an hour.
According to the sources, the pilot was showing reluctance for medical check-up, saying that he will only undergo medical check-up in the presence of officials of Pakistan Airlines Pilots’ Association.
Drunk Pilot and/or insubordination?

A PakiSatani in Texas doing his stuff:

Muslim Dairy Queen owner in Texas installed signs around his business comparing Hindus to monkeys
Mohammad Dar, a 65-year-old Muslim, says Hindus are the "racists."

“I’m pointing out what’s wrong with Hinduism, which is a force of racism,” he (Dar, a 40-year U.S. citizen from Pakistan) said.

“Hindus don’t follow any limit or law, they follow desires like an animal – that is the foundation of Hinduism," Dar said in the interview. "Monkeys don’t plan anything, they just do what they desire, but humans follow the limit and law.”

“If someone is a monkey, he’s going to end up in disaster. All he’s going to do is create disaster for himself and the people around him, that’s why animals are kept in a room away from the public,” Dar said.

Many millions of Muslims 'fundamentally incompatible with the modern world', says Tony Blair
Tony Blair has said that "many millions" of Muslims hold a viewpoint that is "fundamentally incompatible with the modern world."

Rejecting arguments that Isis is simply "tens of thousands of brainwashed crazies," he continued: "[ISIS] does not seek dialogue but dominance. It cannot therefore be contained. It has to be defeated."

I agree, but it is her thoroughness that makes her obfuscate facts as well when it comes to defending the US. She knows that the questioner would not be as thorough as her to detect the chinks in her argument, though of course, when it comes to Pakistan she is always right and truthful.

For example, she said that if the US was planning to take Pakistan's help in the Afghan jihad, it would not have made matters worse for itself by imposing sanctions on Pakistan in April 1979 for its nuclear proliferation. On the face of it, that looks like a valid and persuasive argument. But, the US actions before and after that imposition of sanctions do not support Ms. C. Fair's contention.

The US, under Pres. Carter, imposed sanctions on Pakistan in April, 1979 (under section 669 of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 FAA) after it was learned that Pakistan had secretly begun construction of a uranium enrichment facility, but it was lifted by the same US Government soon after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan without Pakistan capping any of its clandestine activities. Pres. Carter had come to power in 1977 with an agenda for nuclear arms reduction and stoppage of proliferation and had campaigned during the Presidential elections on deep reduction of the strength of the strategic forces leading to ultimate elimination of nuclear weapons. By end of c. 1977, the Carter administration was opposing the French contract to sell a Plutonium Reprocessing plant to separate Plutonium from the spent fuel rods of Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP). In September 1977, the US decided to cut-off aid to Pakistan, under the Glenn Amendment. Finally, in early April 1978, the French Government under Giscard d'Estaing decided to call off the deal over proliferation concerns. Around the same time, an important event took place in Afghanistan; the communists captured power in April 1978. The increasingly shaky position of the Shah of Iran in neighbouring Iran and the stability of Yemen where a Communist-led insurgency was in progress also added to the worries of the USA. It decided to resume aid now that the reprocessing plant deal was dropped. It is at this point, one can detect clear attempts to reconcile the Carter administration’s proliferation concerns and the US pursuit of geostrategic interests could be seen. Though the Americans were now aware of uranium enrichment plan of Pakistan, the Carter administration decided that the Glenn Amendment could not be invoked for ‘indigeneous construction’ of reprocessing or enrichment plants. The then Dutch Minister for Economic Affairs, Rudd Lubbers claimed much later on that the CIA stopped Holland from arresting A.Q.Khan in 1975 even after knowing that he had stolen the entire enrichment documents from URENCO. Lubbers also claimed that the CIA action was only to allow Pakistan clandestinely. So, the 'indigenous reprocessing plant' argument was a hogwash and patent lie. The US requests for an ‘assurance’ of Pakistani intentions was soon replaced by at least a private assurance, but, both were turned down by an assertive Pakistan. This inexplicably intransigent Pakistani position was further demonstrated when General Zia made a statement to a Saudi newspaper that no Muslim country had nuclear weapons and that a Pakistani bomb "would reinforce the power of the Muslim world." The US decided to play down this provocative assertion and did not deem it fit to raise with the Pakistanis even as the contacts between the officials of the two countries were escalating rapidly. When Pakistan announced the cancellation of the reprocessing plant on August 23, 1978, the US immediately announced the resumption of aid. The US State Department told members of Congress that the Pakistan nuclear problem had not been "completely solved" but that the "restoration of normal relations" would "best serve our nonproliferation objectives and our interest in regional stability." The CIA estimated by November 1978 that Gen. Zia’s government was giving ‘low priority’ to the nuclear question, a patently misleading statement in the light of A.Q.Khan’s stealing of blueprints from URENCO and the detection by the British of A.Q. Khan’s group’s clandestine purchase of high frequency inverters to run the centrifuges. In October, 1978, Assistant Secretary of State Joseph Nye informed Sen. John Glenn that there were “indications that Pakistan is [was] attempting to acquire an indigenous centrifuge enrichment capability." and that “organized action by nuclear suppliers could reduce Pakistan's ability to purchase sensitive 'gray areas' equipment." He also said that while Pakistan was not likely to complete the French reprocessing plant, it could build a "smaller and less efficient" version. By January 1979, in spite of mounting intelligence assessment that Pakistan’s nuclear programme was continuing unhindered, the Carter administration decided that withholding aid was considered an unwelcome prospect because of the “critical importance of Pakistan”. Even a year before the Russian entry into Afghanistan, the US had decided not to punish Pakistan for its nuclear transgressions. Rather than curbing the Pakistani programme, the US administration wanted India to accept international safeguards for its nuclear facilities "to help assure the Paks of the peaceful nature" of the Indian program," and reduce their incentive for the nuclear option. While Indian officials expected Pakistan to have a bomb within a few months, the US administration continued to insist to India that Pakistan was at least three to five years away from a bomb Probably, they were predicting accurately about cold tests in Lop Nor in 1984!

IMO, the April 1979 sanctions were meant just to ensure that the US would have the loyalty of Pakistan in the developments already taking place in the region and in the planned Bear Trap. The two countries were deeply hand-in-glove. The US put on a pretense of 'proliferation concerns' even as it clandestinely did everything to subvert it for Pakistan's benefit.
