Statistics Division unearths discrepancies in PBS data
ISLAMABAD: In a major blow to the credibility of official economic data, the Statistics Division has found serious discrepancies in figures reported by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), seeking constitution of a committee to investigate the matter.
The trio of former finance minister Dr Hafiz Pasha, former State Bank of Pakistan governor Shahid Kardar and former economic adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan has long been exposing the alleged manipulation of statistics.

Pasha challenged the government’s claim of achieving over 4% economic growth in fiscal years 2013-14 and 2014-15, proving with statistics that actual expansion each year was not more than 3.5%.
Highlighting some of the discrepancies, the Statistics Division noted that the manufacturing chapter in the statistical year book 2014 was the same as in the previous year.
The price description was not up to date. The Statistics Division also had concerns about the data on energy, mining, capital markets and labour.

'Laser walls' activated along India-Pakistan border to plug gaps in vigil

NEW DELHI: A dozen "laser walls" have been made operational along the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab to plug the porous riverine and treacherous terrain and keep an effective vigil against intruders and terrorists exploiting the frontier areas to cross over.

While eight infra-red and laser beam intrusion detection systems are "up and working" along as many vulnerable and sensitive areas of the international border (IB) in Punjab, four more will be operationalised in the next few days, a senior official of the Border Security Force (BSF) said.

The "laser walls" or fence are being monitored by the BSF which guards the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

The decision to install these laser walls was taken by the BSF two years ago keeping in mind the vulnerability of the border in these areas as barbed wire fencing could not be installed in many infiltration prone areas due to treacherous terrain or marshy riverine topography.

After the Pathankot terror attack, where it was suspected that terrorists crossed over from Pakistan by breaching the border from Bamiyal area in Punjab, Union home ministry and BSF sped up the deployment and activation of these walls along the long and winding border.

A total of 45 such laser walls will be installed in these areas along the international border in Punjab and Jammu, a blueprint prepared in this regard and accessed by PTI said.

According to the blueprint, the BSF along with a team of technical experts will be conducting a pilot project for deploying "technological solutions" for effective border guarding at two "sensitive" riverine stretches in Jammu sector which entails deployment of smart sensors to pick up suspected movements along the international border.

"The laser walls have started working and their functioning is being monitored. Preliminary results in detecting illegal movements are encouraging," the official said.

He said sensors were being monitored through a satellite-based signal command system and armed with night and fog operability tools.

Apart from these, four other pilot projects of similar kind in stretches of 30-40 kms of international border in Jammu and Gujarat and one in West Bengal along Indo-Bangla border have been approved by Home Ministry to secure Indian borders effectively.

"Work on them will begin by next month," he said.

After the Pathankot incident, BSF had deployed an additional battalion (about 1,000 men) in Punjab sector even as it has increased the number of its ambush operations and patrol in the area.

The BSF is also considering deploying at least four more battalions in Punjab and Jammu border areas as a second-tier of defence after withdrawing these units from the Line of Control

Pakistanis Show Their Pakistaniyat !-Video: Indian director Kabir Khan faces protest at Karachi Airport
KARACHI (Staff Report) – Bollywood director Kabir Khan was Wednesday surrounded by show-wielding protesters at Karachi Airport, said media reports.
A video being circulated online shows a group of protesters chanting “shame-shame” slogans at the airport, while Kabir Khan passes by. The protesters can also be heard saying “why do you make anti-Pakistan movies?” and “Pakistan Zindabad” afterwards.
Khan had arrived in Karachi to attend a marketing conference organised by the Marketing Association of Pakistan. This was his second trip to Pakistan.
Kabir Khan had directed Bollywood films Phantom and Ek Tha Tiger, which are alleged of being anti-Pakistan by several groups. Phantom’s screening was also banned in Pakistan on the orders of Lahore High Court.
It also pertinent to be mentioned here that Bajrangi Bhaijaan, a Bollywood movie that urged peace between Pakistan and India, was also directed by Kabir Khan. The film received satisfactory response by viewers in Pakistan.
Video Courtesy: Dawn.com
It is pertinent to mention that Taliban Khan, (A.K.A. Imran Khan ) alongwith other "characters" like the Anti-India Sheikh Rashid were accorded the due courtesies, when they flocked here to cheer their cricket team .
The best thing would be to stop this Aman ki Asha Tamasha BS ; minimal contact with these fanatics!

Pakistani Maulana Issues Statement on Economics - Indirect taxes are contrary to Islamic teachings, says Maulana Sherani !
ISLAMABAD: Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Maulana Mohammad Khan Sherani said that indirect taxes are contradictory to the teachings of Islam and prohibited in Sharia.
“Taxes can be imposed only on income,” Sherani said while addressing a press conference at the end of a two-day seminar on Islamic system of economy.
The CII chairman maintained that tax cannot be collected from the end consumers on the purchase of a product instead it should be collected from the industrialist and traders.
Have Madrassahs started teaching Islamic economics to its students
Maulana Sherani held that all the indirect taxes are prohibited in Islam.
It is possible that the esteemed maulana was dabbling in economics before he switched to this (most probably, Saudi funded) lucrative "profession" .
The economic system based on paper currency is not strong enough and gold is the more acceptable medium, he added.
Sharia stamp of approval ! so does that mean that the Paki paper currency will not be included as "halal" by the new Dept of Halal Certification under the Ministry Of Science And Technology
The CII chairman said capitalism is about to fall after the collapse of communism and the world must opt for Islamic (halal !) economic system to meet the challenges confronting the economy.
And Pakistan, as usual, is going to be the "pioneer" of the new (halal) system !

Donald Trump hints at seeking India’s help on ‘unstable’ Pakistan’s nukes
Donald Trump’s remarks come on a day when lawmakers question rationale of the Obama administration to give aid to Pakistan without desired results
Washington: Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump on Thursday hinted at seeking help from India and others to address the ‘problem’ of what he described as a ‘semi-unstable’ nuclear-armed Pakistan.
Trump’s such a remarks came during a town-hall in Indianapolis in response to a question on how he would deal with countries like Pakistan which has sometimes ‘double dealt’ with the US.
“We’ve given them (Pakistan) money and they’ve double dealt us,” the interviewer said. “Yes, but the problem with Pakistan, where they have nuclear weapons—which is a real problem,” Trump said.

Pakistan is a nation of 180 million people with a history of terrorist activities, roughly 100 nuclear weapons and a very confused body politic,” said Congressman Brad Sherman.
“We need to offer to Pakistan those weapon systems well-crafted to go after terrorists and not crafted for a war with India,” he said. PTI
IMO, a Trump administration will be a disaster for Pakistan as well as its Malsi patron- S.A !

Guys, give me a break. Trump is an ignorant jackarse when it comes to TSP or any other country except for a few European ones. To use a simplistic analogy, Trump is like say the white Christian equivalent of Praveen Togdia or some other Bajrang Dal hard core Hindu nationalist. Except of course that Trump can become president of a super power, while the latter can only exhibit impotent rage; given that US is a majority white Christian nationalist country while India has a million mutinies.

Thus, TSP will make Trump dance on their palms as they have done for 65+ years with whoever is the US president (of course, TSP's does this even as their rat hole sinkns because the Pakijabi's only consideration is equal equal or greater than India). Matter of fact, one of TSP's TFTA ISI honchos might even whisk away Melani Trump from under Trump's nose, and there is nothing Trump can do except dole out another cache of Fsolas.

The point being TSP is so crucial in US's geo-political calculus that a silly real estate Moghul has no understanding of TSP's importance until some CIA/Pentagon briefs him once he takes office. Given how the US power broker-ship works, like that clown Regan before him, Trump will be just that, clown to the rest of the world, but hero to most whites.

In other words, its the super power military, Wall street, and Church that set the broad contours of US foreign policy, and a most successful US president is one who makes grandiose speeches like "tear down that wall" and signs on the dotted line. And you will have pipsqueak European countries, east Asian countries etc follow US diktats like zombies. TSP will do something similar as long as US keeps it happy in being a pain in us SDRE arses to mutual benefit.

Pakistani Aurat Ki "Sex Experience "
What I Learned Having Sex as a Young Woman in Pakistan
By Zahra Haider April 26, 2016
Pakistan is an Islamic Republic with the highest *****-watching population in the world. That statement in and of itself signifies a particular aspect about Pakistani culture: we are horny and desperate for sex, but God forbid we actually engage in it. Sex in Pakistan is considered a taboo topic. Men generally aren't judged for it in our patriarchal society but if a woman from a middle-class family or underprivileged background is caught having premarital sex, serious shit goes down.
Even though I had engaged in sexual relations with almost a dozen people before coming to Canada for college in 2012, it wasn't something I was open about, and looking back I realize my sexuality was still pretty deeply repressed. Due to all these restrictions on us during the horniest years of our lives, in statistically the horniest country (see the above ***** stats) in the world, we were forced to get creative during post-pubescent adolescence.
All I wanted to be—and what I now am—is an effortlessly confident woman in her 20s who embraces her sexuality and no longer gives a fck about what people from back home say or think about her. I've embraced the transition for those particular reasons but also, being able to save $200 on a hotel room for a quickie and have sex on a bed without the fear of your parent walking in is definitely a major relief.
Based on the above, one can easily conclude that all the Paki females in North American are here, only to give and get a good time in kuffar Amreeka

To me the article is one of those which try to give the impression that pakistan is a west leaning normal country, with moderate, west loving elites surrounded by a sea of islamized mullahs who go to madarsas and plot beheadings all the time.

These elites have fooled their western masters and have been suckling all the aid from them. The westerners are suckers for keeping this group of west luuvin' elites alive-n-kicking in a mullah society. That's why eff solahs to fight off the talibs and AMRAAMs for the djinn guided, pindi chana gas phyrred AAMs that the mullahs phyrr from time to time

The west is trying to shore up the whiskey swilling pakjabis when they give aid to Pakhanastan

Afghan intelligence officer arrested in Chaman for crossing border illegally

http://www.dawn.com/news/1255022/afghan ... -illegally
ISLAMABAD: An officer of the Afghan intelligence agency was arrested inside Pakistani territory near Chaman border crossing in Balochistan on Thursday, the interior ministry said. The ministry said the Afghan officer named Rozi Khan — reportedly a second lieutenant in the intelligence unit of the Afghan army — was arrested by Fedral Intelligence Agency (FIA) officials in Chaman over charges of crossing the border without possessing any authentic travel documents to enter into Pakistan. The Afghan official was handed over to intelligence agencies by FIA which then shifted him to an undisclosed location for questioning, DawnNews reported. It further reported that the intelligence agencies are currently interrogating the arrested Afghan officer.Earlier this month, an agent working for the Afghan National Directorate of Security (NDS) – Afghanistan's premier spy agency – was also arrested from Chaman district by Frontier Corps. The arrest of suspected Afghan intelligence officials comes after forces arrested an Indian agent Kulbushan Jadhav from Balochistan, who Pakistan said was involved in "terror activities" in the province.Law enforcement agencies announced the arrest of Jadhav during an intelligence-based raid in Balochistan's Chaman last month. The Indian Foreign Ministry earlier confirmed the arrested man was a former Indian Navy officer, but the Pakistani government claimed to have recovered travel documents and multiple fake identities of Jadhav, establishing him as an Indian spy who entered into Balochistan through Iran — holding a valid Iranian visa.

Mobama: I chased Mosama all the way to Mars and killed him there with extremely hi-tec weapons that none can imaging the capability exists. Not NASA, not ISS or not even ISI could get a whiff of this adventure.

SayMoarization: The above claim is disputed in an EXPLOSIVE investigative journalism, which goes on to show that Mobama's claim is a lie where as "facts" shows that Mosama was on his way to Mars and not yet reached there yet. He was well 1000km short of reaching Mars.

Prior to the "investigation's" findings are to be released, two weeks of prime time will be booked, awards already declared, sealed in envelopes to be announced later.

Because he endorses 99% of the Mobama like "historical" claims and disputes 1%, his stories will be termed 'mostly' right.

Pakistan, Again # 1 : ‘78% Pakistanis want laws to be strictly followed by Quran’
LAHORE (Staff Report) – A latest survey report of Pew Research Center has revealed that 78% Pakistanis want country laws to be strictly followed by the teachings of Quran, while only two percent are of the opinion that teachings of Holy Quran should not influence local laws.
The survey was held in ten Muslim majority states: Pakistan, Palestinian Territory, Jordan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Senegal, Indonesia, Lebanon, Turkey and Burkina -where Muslim citizens as well as non-Muslims also participated in the polls.
Results showed that 98% of Pakistanis believe that laws should follow teachings of Islam, however among them 16% say that laws should follow Quranic teachings but not strictly.
So, if this survey is to be believed, the recent legislation like the Women Protection Bill are just PR gimmicks, as under Islam, the female is almost like a " chattel " - purchasable and saleable at the whim of the male members !

Mansehra gasline project has been inaugurated thrice before!
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday performed groundbreaking of a multi-million rupee Tanawal gas pipeline project in Mansehra, which has already been inaugurated three times before over the last 26 years with zero work on the ground.
This is a good tactic to divert attention from the Panama scandal !
Reacting to the PM’s announcement, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said that the Mansehra visit was aimed at diverting attention from the Panama leaks.
“This project has been announced for the third time by Nawaz Sharif himself, but there is zero work on the ground,” he said.
The people of Mansehra cannot be fooled by the prime minister’s false announcements, he added.
Awami Muslim League (AML) head Sheikh Rashid said the government was trying to deceive the people by announcing development projects.
Announcement but no implementation - due to corruption, lack of expertise, lack of funds etc etc

Students at public school in Jhang forced to share space with donkeys
In yet another incident which screams of the government apathy to education, in the absence of furniture over 200 students at a public school have been forced to study in the same compound where donkeys have been tied.
The 123-year-old Government Model Primary School Bhamb was established in 1892. It comprised a single room then.
While the student strength over the years has increased to 275, there is only one room in the building, and no furniture. Students are forced to look for shade under a few trees in the school playground where classes are conducted.
“They study out in the open in all kinds of weather, come rain or sun,” said the school teacher.
Maybe, it is the students who are violating the private space of donkey !
During class, a grazing donkey interrupts students, who whimper and smile innocently, as the teacher shoos it away.
Students complain that the donkeys are smelly and some are even scared of them.
The "teacher" should ask for "danger pay" from the school authorities, for shooing the animals away !
Recent reports suggest that 24 million children in Pakistan are out of school. Those who attend school have low learning levels and suffer due to lack of basic school facilities: toilets, boundary walls and drinking water.
The actual - out of school - numbers are much higher and probably unknowable, due to lack of a proper census since the last 20+ years !

They Are Thieves, Helping Pak with Missiles: US Leader to China
In their letter Rogers and Poe referred to a recent research by well know Chinese military technology expert Richard Fisher who has noted the design similarities between the Shaheen III TEL (transporter erector launcher), the Sanjiang Special Vehicle Corporation of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) WS51200 TEL, and a Chinese provided TEL North Korea's new KN-08 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).

This led Fisher to conclude, "CASIC has again enabled a Pakistani nuclear missile capability," the two lawmakers wrote in their letter to Kerry, Carter and Clapper.

"We are deeply concerned that the TEL displayed in Pakistan was acquired from China," Rogers and Poe said in the two-page letter.

Washington Post Farticle Dated July 12, 1977 Gave "Benefit Of Doubt" To Dictator Zia-Ul-Haq!
Pakistani General Pictured as Reluctant Coup Leader
By Lewis M. Simons July 12, 1977
A secret Pakistani army document reveals that Gen. Mohammed Zia ul-Haq, who seized power in a coup last week, expressed strong opposition to taking the drastic step.
According to a highly informed Pakistani source, Zia was induced to stage the coup by six of the army's corps commanders serving under him.
They persuaded him that the take-over was essential for the good of the Army, which had come under severe public criticism during the last four months of unrest, the source said.
The document makes it clear that Zia opposed involving the army in political battling between fromer Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and the opposition's nine-party Pakistan National Alliance.
Once he "tasted" political power, he could not stop and went all the way, to "Islamize" Pakistan, with disastrous results!
The statements of Zia's opposition to a coup is in a document written May 7 and obtained today by The Washington Post, along with the two secret letters.
In it, Zia said: "We soldiers must stay above politics and let the political problems be solved by political and constitutional means."
The document, labeled "restrictive," the lowest military secrecy category, was circulated among senior officers down to the regimental level. The four-page paper, carrying Zia's signature, is entitled "Command Communication by the Chief of the Army Staff."
The reason for Zia's apparent loyalty to Bhutto seems simple. In 1976, when Bhutto promoted him to chief of staff over the heads of a number of more senior general staff officers, Zia was the most junior lieutenant general in the Pakistan army.
Thus, just two months, almost to the day, before he seized power and announced the end of the Bhutto government, Zia told his subordinates that the army had no business involving itself in politics, but must obey orders.
Zia was an out and out hypocrite. Among his other "qualities" was his ability to lie with a straight face (taqiyya) !

India only wants to talk about terrorism: Pak's UN envoy

NEW YORK: Pakistan seeks to normalise relations with India, but New Delhi has "signalled" it is only interested in talking about terrorism which does not bode well for the prospects of diplomatic progress between the two nations, Islamabad's envoy to the UN has said.

Pakistan's permanent representative to the UN ambassador Maleeha Lodhi's remarks came just a day before Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry met in New Delhi on April 26 on the sidelines of the 'Heart of Asia' regional conference.

"While Islamabad has repeatedly urged Delhi to resume the broad based, comprehensive peace process, India has yet to agree and has instead signalled it is only interested in talking about terrorism. This, she said, does not make the prospects of diplomatic progress too bright," she said.

Lodhi addressed students and faculty at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge on April 25 as part of 'South Asia Week' being held at the institution and talked about Pakistan's role in regional stability.

According to a press release issued by Pakistan's Permanent Mission to the UN here, Lodhi said that Pakistan seeks to normalise relations with India by finding political solutions to outstanding disputes.

In their first formal bilateral meeting after the terror attack on the Pathankot air base in January, the Foreign Secretaries focused on a range of issues including probe into the attack and Kashmir, which the Pakistani side has asserted was the "core issue".

Lodhi said that Pakistan's priorities included economic revival, defeating terrorism and elimination of violent extremism in and around Pakistan.

Another priority for Pakistan is building regional peace and stability, which required an end to the conflict in Afghanistan, and normalisation of Pakistan-India relations on an equitable and durable basis, she said.

On China, Lodhi said the country is a "cornerstone" of Pakistan's foreign policy and Islamabad's relationship with Beijing is "strategic, historic, trouble free and pivotal to the country's foreign policy."

Lodhi said that the strategic evolution of the Pakistan-China relationship has accorded the bilateral partnership added significance at a time of a "fundamental change in the global balance of power brought about by China's rise as a global economic powerhouse."

In recent years, she said bilateral ties with China have broadened and diversified from the traditional focus on defence and military cooperation toward a greater economic and investment orientation.

On how Pakistan will balance its relations with China as well as with the US, she said "to those who ascribe a zero-sum nature to Pakistan's relations with China and America, a recall of history would help to invalidate this flawed notion," according to the release.

Citing Pakistan's "good relations" with the US and China from the time of the Cold War, she said "Pakistan intends to play the same role in the future and maintain good relations with both even as the two engage in global competition". Wishful thinking! What?

Zulfikar Ali Bhutto got himself elected MNA unopposed in the 1977 elections, his Jamaat-e-Islami opponent, Jan Muhammad Abbasi, physically prevented from filing his nomination papers. Newspapers were ‘instructed’ to eulogise this triumph.
The Bhutto government being increasingly authoritarian, most newspapers obliged and carried identical photos of the PM on their front pages, ...
I was reminded of this after looking at newspapers yesterday with half-page government-sponsored ads screaming that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s name had been cleared in the Panama leaks, quoting this from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists: “Due to an editing error, a sentence in an earlier version of this story implied that the prime minister of Pakistan controlled an offshore company…It is his children who control the companies.”
The Sharifs have been around in the corridors of power longer than anyone in Pakistan’s history. In 1981 when a youthful Nawaz Sharif was picked as Punjab finance minister by Governor Lt-Gen Ghulam Jilani, what were the Sharifs? Who had heard their names? But under the wings of that military regime they rose to power and glory and along the way, thanks to official patronage, amassed wealth and a never-ending stream of factories. Politics for them was always politics plus wealth-creation, the means a secondary consideration.
They have dominated Pakistani politics like no other political dynasty, not even the Bhuttos.
They have conquered other institutions and bent them to their will. Punjabi judges have come to their aid at crucial junctures: Punjabi judges helping foment a revolt in the Supreme Court against then CJ Sajjad Ali Shah when that judge was proving difficult for the then prime minister Sharif; and a Punjabi-dominated Supreme Court reinstating Nawaz Sharif as prime minister after president Ghulam Ishaq Khan had deposed him in 1993.
But to the Sharifs’ unending distress the one institution that remains unconquered is the army. That is the one fly in their ointment, what leaves their mastery over other things incomplete.
Not that they haven’t tried to exert this mastery. In Nawaz Sharif’s first prime ministerial stint the man chosen to head the ISI was the born-again zealot, Lt-Gen Javed Nasir, who had a beard over a foot long and who on a plane ride to Kabul after the downfall of Najibullah startled everyone on board, including the American ambassador, by yelling, as soon as they entered Afghan airspace, “Nara-e-Takbeer, Allah-o-Akbar”.
The BMW dealership in Pakistan was owned by their henchman, Saifur Rehman, who was later made Ehtisab chief in Nawaz Sharif’s second prime ministership. The Sharifs knew only one way to win allegiance
...Gen Asif Nawaz, the army chief and the author’s brother, the PM had gifted BMW cars to some generals. He writes: “One day (Gen Asif Nawaz) was visited by Shahbaz Sharif, who brought over the keys of a BMW, and said, ‘Abaji has sent as a gift to you’.” In Murree the PM tried the same gambit. Gen Nawaz, profoundly embarrassed, of course said no.

The Paki Generals always aim high ; maybe , a Rolls Royce might have done the trick !
Individual generals may have been won over in this manner but an army chief in their pocket still eluded them. This might have changed if Nawaz Sharif had succeeded in making Ziauddin Butt army chief in 1999.
They wanted a total yes-man and in their quest to get one they got Pervez Musharraf – who taught them a thing or two about yes-manship, just as all those years ago Gen Zia had taught yes-manship to Bhutto. The more things change…
Now the Sharifs face another troubled relationship with another army chief, their own appointed Raheel Sharif, for no other reason than that he is his own man, standing up for the army and doing things that needed to be done in Fata, in Karachi, in Rajanpur. He saved their government at the time of the dharnas in Aug 2014. Any other chief, I am almost ready to wager, would have stepped in. The temptation was too great, and the government’s authority lay shot to pieces on Constitution Avenue.
For all practical purposes, the Bad Sharif is ruling, but indirectly, so as not to upset the US gravy train ; Badmash, as mentioned before, is left to his own devicesas the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad ( and allowed to do chota mota corruption !)
The army’s stock has been high these past two years because of the sustained campaign against weakness and terrorism. And the government whose ship looked pretty stable just a month ago has been badly hit by the Panama leaks and doesn’t know what to do.
A fresh confrontation is shaping up across the national landscape…sparked by the Panama leaks, but underpinned by the widening distrust between the political front and the army.
Benazir Bhutto had overcome much of the army’s traditional distrust of the PPP. By then she could conduct a civil conversation with Gen Waheed Kakar. The Sharifs even after all these long years in power can only talk tea and pakoras and luncheons with army chiefs and generals. They have no other conversation.
Ah! Ganja's weakness for good Punjabi food and the resultant heart problems and the dash to London for "treatment"

Sumera family not sorry on honor-killing
April 29, 2016
By: Samaa Web Desk
Teenage Sumera was killed for honor in the most gruesome manner by her own brother in Karachi area of Mominabad.
The stonehearted father of 17-year girl said, “My son did the right thing.”
Where is regret or mere an inkling of remorse? The ill-fated girl’s younger brother and uncle glorified the honor-killing, instead.
More in Shahbaz Khan’s report.
The reaction of the father does not surprise me in the least ( "my son did the right thing ") when you connect his reaction with the recent PEW survey saying that "78% of the Pakistanis are in favour of Islamic laws" ; in a "normal" country, the father and son would have been booked for "conspiracy in murder"

Will India’s S-400 missiles checkmate Pakistan?
he S-400 Triumph missile defense system is a significant strategic upgrade in India’s military hardware in its pursuit to become a global power. With little domestic debate and no real threat, Delhi has been arming itself to match the Chinese military might. Though, Russian cooperation with China is at a far advanced level, India’s efforts have borne fruit too. Besides deal for nuclear powered-submarines, both are engaged in joint production of fifth generation T-50 (or PAK-FA) fighter jet, a projected counter weight to US F-22 Raptor.Over the last decade, India has checkmated Pakistan on the US front. Not only has Islamabad faced various pronounced sanctions but also severe political opposition in Washington over transfer of any sophisticated arms including the F-16s falcons. While India buys S-400s, its option to acquire upgraded US Patriot systems remains open too. Delhi’s hawkish arms shopping spree includes hypersonic missiles or glide vehicles, stealth bombers et al.Washington will continue to play a fundamental role in fuelling the arms race as part of its ‘Pivot to Asia’ policy, which envisaged China as the next global adversary. Being Beijing’s strategic partner, Islamabad fell out of favour with Washington. Pakistan’s policy makers did not do enough to control the damage, practically giving India a walkover. The odds stacked against the delivery of eight F-16 fighter jets symbolise the current state of Pakistan’s diplomacy in the US.While China may not fret over the S-400 system deal, it will have significant implications for Pakistan’s Air Force and missile programme both. Highly advanced stealth aircrafts or faster low observables ones or stealth cruise missiles can only dodge the integrated defense system. In the wake of an all out war, Pakistan can outnumber the Indian defense system by launching too many missile and fighter jet attacks, making it near impossible for the S-400s or Akash missiles to deny zero penetration in Indian airspace. Such an attack will come at a heavy price militarily and otherwise, with limited success. If the economy was performing as per potential, Pakistan could follow China’s suit and develop hypersonic multistage missiles.
While the hypothetical scenario goes to show the soaring cost of war for Pakistan on the eastern front, preparedness for any aggression from the Indian side also requires significant increase in defense spending.More than the technological gulf, Islamabad’s biggest challenge for the next fiscal year will be poor economic policies and repayment of expensive IMF loans. Over the last decade, Pakistan has achieved little success in impressing upon unprecedented militarisation by India, upsetting the balance of power. Over the years, Islamabad’s diplomacy has been failing her successively as the foreign ministry has not only lacked vision but is also damningly slow in reacting to Delhi’s moves. Until Pakistan-India comprehensive dialogue bears fruit, the defense spending may not lessen for the long haul. Over the last decade, the situation has only gone from bad to worse.

Allah! Bahoot Durd Hoti Hai! :((

Pakistan may have to shell out $700m for 8 US F-16s

WASHINGTON: The US is not inclined to use tax-payers' money to provide eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, a media report has said, a day after American lawmakers expressed concern that the aircraft could be used against India and not to combat terrorism.

As a result of which Pakistan would have to make arrangements for all US$700 million to purchase eight F-16 from the United States, the notification for which was made by the State Department to the Congress late last year.

Quoting an unnamed official in administration, a BBC report said that the because of the hold on it by Senators in the Senate, the US Government will not be using any of the tax payers money to sell F-18 to Pakistan.

As per the Congressional notification, it has been scheduled as a foreign military financing.
According to the news report in BBC, the Obama Administration had to take the decision as Senator Bob Corker, Chairman of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has put a hold on it in this regard.

During the hearing, the Special US Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Olson strongly defended the decision of the Obama administration saying that this is in the best interest of the United States and did not give any indication on the difficulties in sale of F-16.

"The administration is supportive of the F-16 sale to Pakistan. This is been developed between our military coordinating groups over the course of time that is consistent with our overall program of support for the Pakistani military, which is based on counterinsurgency and counter-terrorism.

"The Pakistanis have developed a precision strike capability that they use in the F-16s they have right now to take out targets," he said.

In a statement, the Embassy of Pakistan said America's F-16 fighter jets have "provide precision strike capability" to its on-going campaign against militancy.

"F-16s provide precision strike capability to Pakistan's on-going campaign against militancy and have proven to be an affective platform during Operation Zarb e Azb," it said.

"The US Administration has stated it supports the sale of F-16s to Pakistan. This is in line with bilateral Counter-terrorism cooperation that both sides have pursued in mutual benefit," the official statement said.

"Pakistan believes that threat from terrorist networks requires continued capacity building and both governments continue to work together towards this objective through a range of measures including sale of these air crafts," it said.

"The arms sales is a long process and we do not comment on its specific status at a point in time," said the Pakistani statement.

California shooters' family members arrested in 'marriage-fraud' scheme

RIVERSIDE: Three people with close family ties to the couple responsible for the San Bernardino terror attack were arrested Thursday in an alleged marriage-fraud scheme involving a pair of Russian sisters.

The accused include Syed Raheel Farook. His brother and sister-in-law, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, died in a shootout with police after killing 14 people and wounding 22 others on Dec 2.

Also arrested in the marriage-fraud case were Syed Raheel Farook's wife, Tatiana, and her sister, Mariya Chernykh. Prosecutors say Mariya's marriage to Enrique Marquez Jr, the only person charged in the shootings, was a sham designed to enable her to obtain legal status in the United States after overstaying a visitor visa in 2009.

As usual nothing is what it seems with pakis. Now pakis will be crying over this:

Indian PM Modi invited to address US Congress

WASHINGTON: United States (US) House Speaker Paul Ryan has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address a joint session of Congress in June, CNN reported. It is unclear whether Modi has accepted the invitation as yet.

The invitation is a sharp turnaround for a leader who was once barred from the US over massacres of Muslims.

In a statement on Thursday, Ryan called the US-India relationship "a pillar of stability in an important region of the world".

Will free jailed Pakistan doctor who tracked Osama bin Laden: Donald Trump
Washington: Republican presidential front runner Donald Trump on Friday claimed if elected he would ensure the Pakistani doctor who helped the CIA trace Osama bin Laden is freed from jail within "two minutes".
Behind the scene arm -twisting ? Easier said than done !
"Yes, I do. I think I would get him out in two minutes," Trump told Fox News in an interview when asked if he would help free Shakeel Afridi, the doctor jailed for helping the US track down al-Qaeda leader bin Laden who was killed in a covert raid by US commandos in 2011.
"I would tell them let him out and I'm sure they would let him out," Trump said with confidence.
"Because we give a lot of aid to Pakistan. We give a lot of money to Pakistan. And frankly, they don't have any respect for our president. But when you say they take advantage or they are no friend, nobody is a friend to us," he said.
"They just take us like a bunch of suckers. And that's what my speech was about to a certain extent. It was also economic in terms of economic, relative to aid and the military. But Pakistan certainly takes advantage like everybody else. Nobody is different," Trump said.
The real estate tycoon said he would keep 10,000 troops in Afghanistan mainly because of Pakistan's nuclear weapons.
But what about the Afghan Government, will they have a say in it ? So, it is implied here that the "out-sourcing of the Afghan policy to the Paki Govt" will obviously be suspended. But has the Taliban factor (Paki proxies ) been taken into consideration in all of this ; their vow to expel "infidels" from their soil .
"I would stay in Afghanistan. It's probably the one place we should have gone in the Middle East because it's adjacent and right next to Pakistan which has nuclear weapons. So I think you have to stay and do the best you can, not that it's ever going to be great but I don't think we have much of a choice," he said.
"That's one place, frankly, instead of going to Iraq we probably should have gone there first. I would say in Afghanistan and only, again, because of its location next to Pakistan," Trump said.
"So you would keep the 10,000 troops there and fight a war of attrition against the Taliban? You know, Pakistan...?" Trump was asked.
"I hate doing it, I hate doing it so much. But, again, you have nuclear weapons in Pakistan so I would do it," he said. PTI
But will that stop the Pakistani blackmail ; Pakis will probably "enlist" help from Ummah Head , S.A.

The "Brotherly" Nation Of Afghanistan Asks USA To Impose Sanctions On Pakistan
US asked to impose economic sanctions on Pakistan
WASHINGTON (Pajhwok): An Afghan parliamentarian urged US to stop all financial and military aids to Pakistan and impose tough economic sanctions on it for its unabated support to organisations that carry out terrorist attacks inside Afghanistan.
“Not every Pakistani is a terrorist, but every terrorist has a links in Pakistan. They are either trained or their finances are linked with Pakistan. The American Congressmen, Senators all know this,” Mohammad Naeem Hamidzai Lalai, a member of Wolesi Jirga, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Lalai is currently in a tour of the United Nations headquarters in New York and Washington DC to meet members of the international community, Congressmen, Senators and government officials to brief them about terrorist safe havens and terrorism coming from across the border.
Instead of the US helping Pakistan with military assistance, they could help Afghanistan with the same exact aid, he said.
Not only Pakistan has provided safe havens to terrorists, but also violated the Durand Line and attacked the Afghan security forces inside Afghanistan, Lalai said.
“US Government should not help or support those countries who train and support terrorist organisations. Instead sanctions must be imposed on such countries, to stop them from doing so,” he said.
“The United States has to realize that the roots of terrorism cannot be eradicated unless its financial aid to Pakistan is stopped. The earlier the better,” he said.
Lalai warned that the Government and people of Pakistan are getting ready to take action against Pakistan, if it continues with its current policy.
Unlikely to happen ; but shaming Pakistan in public forums will eventually make some difference !

Life In Sex- Starved Pakistan - Part II
Breaking the unspoken rule about sex in Pakistan: Talking about it
I'll never forget being a repressed teenager in Karachi in the 80s. I used to drive by the late Agha Hussein Abidi's house every day to and from school. One morning as I passed by the high walls of his mansion, I saw some graffiti that had appeared overnight: It's very hard to find a virgin in Pakistan.
I nearly fainted (it was still Zia's Pakistan) when I saw that. It's stuck with me to this day, but now instead of fainting, it evokes in me a wry smile.
In fact this could be the slogan of Pakistan's teenagers and 20 somethings, looking for something as real as a mirage.
The author is obviously talking about Paki cities, not the rural areas where honour killing and tribal/ sharia justice is a norm
Why was there a lack of virgins in my city? And who was stealing their virginity and then complaining that girls weren't virgins?
That phrase came to my mind again today after reading Zahra Haider's piece in Vice on Pakistan's sex culture.
Bey- sharam Paki girl now the "talk of the town"
For a girl to admit that she had sex with so many guys before marriage is as socially acceptable as murdering your parents in public and then displaying their bodies on national television.
Yet Haider has decided to make her personal life public, and Twitter went into meltdown last night after the piece was run.
I'm not a fan of the confessional tell-all, but in Haider's case, I can see why she did it: to cut through the hypocrisy that runs through sexual culture in a certain section of the Pakistani youth.
Ms. Haider has luckily flown the coop and can play out her fantasies as she is now based in Darul- Harb ! Ms. Shah, based in Pakiland (Darul Islam ) should be careful of the Mullah Brigade if she is to avoid being Wajub-ul- cutlet !
Sexual activity outside of marriage happens in all classes and strata of society. Nobody can generalise about how sex happens in this country, because it happens every which way. The unspoken rule is not to talk about it. Haider has broken that rule.
All I can say is that I wouldn't write a piece like that, but there's a part of me that admires her chutzpah.
