Sorry to post something from a Paki rag, but the sheer chutzpah, and the slimy manner in which TSP hopes to use terror as a negotiating tactic while sounding reasonable and cooperative is breath taking. Here is a country that knows who the terrorists are that it is sponsoring, knows exactly what it is doing and the method behind its madness, but then turns around paints a picture as though India and TSP are confronted with demons from Mars and hails the "cooperative spirit"

Cotton production continues slide

KARACHI: The country has so far produced 9.748m bales this season, a decline of 34 per cent compared to 14.785m bales during the same period a year earlier, the Pakistan Cotton Ginners’ Association (PCGA) said in its fortnightly report issued on Friday.

Karachi Cotton Association Chairman Khawaja Tahir Mahmood said the country would suffer a loss of Rs111.755bn ($1.2bn) because of the shortfall.

Pakistan absolves itself of Texas shooting

ISLAMABAD: Nadir Soofi, a gunman shot dead after opening fire at a Texas exhibit of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was a popular schoolboy in Pakistan but struggled to adjust to the United States (its fault of US but we still want to immigrate there)after moving there as a teen, friends said on Tuesday.

Police say disappointment, alienation, and a search for belonging inspired Soofi and his roommate, Elton Simpson, to attack the exhibit and contest to draw Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) cartoons on Sunday.

Such depictions are offensive to Muslims and often spark violence. Event organisers said the event was defending free speech.

The two gunmen were shot dead by a police officer before they could kill anyone.

Friends in Pakistan, who studied with Soofi at the elite International School of Islamabad, were stunned to discover that police had identified him as was one of the attackers.

“When he was in Islamabad, he had a great life. His mom was an American (and hence is america's fault) who taught art at the school, he was in plays, popular with girls,” said one of Soofi's best friends at school.

“His nickname was Goofy” because of his sense of humour, said the man, who declined to be identified to preserve his privacy.

Another classmate said Soofi played the lead in the school's production of the play “Bye Bye Birdie”.

“He was a popular kid, the opposite of a radical extremist,” she said.

Soofi's parents divorced around the time he was in tenth grade, the friend said, and he moved to Utah with his mother.

Over the years, Soofi told his old friends he did not fit in and had many disappointments.

He went to dental school, but said he had to drop out because of financial problems, the male friend said.

He tried and failed at various ventures including a dry cleaning store, he said.

He told friends he had a child with a Bosnian woman but the relationship did not work out.

“He said 'life is really tough here',” the male friend said.

“Alienation, an identity crisis, whatever you want to call it, he was kind of alone.”

“I guess the one thing he could identify with was religion.”

In the past few years, Soofi grew a beard and only posted pictures of himself wearing sunglasses on Facebook, the friend said. Old friends teased him for that but also began to worry, the friend said.

Gradually they lost contact.

“I looked at his pictures, and I didn't recognize him,” the friend said.

“I don't know what happened to him in America.”

The attack was earlier claimed by the extremist militant group Islamic State through a statement made over their Al-Bayan radio. It is the first attack claimed by IS in the United States.

Pak Army man dies resisting robbery bid

KARACHI (Online) – A Pakistan Army personnel and a robber were killed after they exchanged fire Gulshan Iqbal in Karachi late on Saturday.
According to police, Muhammad Waqas, a sepoy in army, was returning home from a local market in Gulshan Iqbal when two armed motorcyclists waylaid him and took him hostage at gunpoint.
Waqas resisted and opened fire on the robbers, killing one of them on the spot.
Meanwhile, the other robber opened fire on the army man and killed him on the spot.The police have registered a case and started investigation.

So, the Paki fauji Afsars are being targeted left and right by so-called miscreants on one pretext or the other

The on-going T20 brought out a tidbit. One of the consular officers of the US Consulate in Chennai is married to a Pakistani from Karachi, where she served prior to being transferred here. They have been living here for two years now and the guy says that he loves dosas here (obviously, he couldn't have worked in Chennai and so was a 'food taster'). The couple was rooting for Pakistan and that was how it was reported in media. Americans have always been charmed by Pakistan, from Eisenhower's days.

That decision, as everyone has claimed, rests solely with the PM. For a shrewd person like Modi, he must be aware of the pitfall and danger of assuming that kind of a 'sole' role, IMHO, especially wrt Pakistan.

As I have followed it, except for RM Parikkar, everybody else of some significance, including the directly significant IAF Chief, has said that they had no problems with access to PAFB. Parikkar has dismissed that the Pakistanis would be allowed into PAFB.

My gut feeling is that the Pakistanis would get 'some access' to PAFB. One more week for the suspense.

LAHORE: National Assembly Standing Committee for Finance Chairman Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh said debt servicing is consuming a major share of the country’s current revenues.

LAHORE (Staff Report) – A Doha-bound flight made an emergency landing at Allama Iqbal international Airport on Tuesday after the plane’s window pane broke amid a quarrel between two passengers and aircrew.
The flight was on its way from Doha to Islamabad when the passengers, Khurram Khalid and Khalid Hussain, started quarreling with crew. Khurram Khalid kicked the plane window pane and broke it.
Both the passengers were reported to be father and son.
According to Airport management, they were handed over to ASF after the plane safely landed at Lahore airport.
Investigation was underway, while it is feared that the passengers were drunk.

Thank Allah that the Paki "dirty linen", as manifested by the above behaviour, was not washed in (international ) media but was just confined to Pakiland only

On trade etc., I am clear that India is a different kettle of fish for Pakistan. We are an 'enduring enemy', 'mortal enemy' and the equation that Pakistan has with Hindu India is the same as Muslims states have with Israel. Pakistan may encourage trade but that should not be taken at face value. That kind of relationship would be used to sabotage from within. Pakistan would use every avenue, and every opportunity to destroy us. Hindu India is Pakistan's civilizational enemy. We don't need a certain Ms. C.Fair to tell us this. If we do not realize this, we deserve our fate.

Govt sets ambitious $35b export target in trade policy

ISLAMABAD: Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir announced on Tuesday a three-year Strategic Trade Policy Framework 2015-18 that set an ambitious target for scaling up country’s exports from the current $24 billion to $35 billion by the end of fiscal year 2018.

“The export target is realistic and achievable; it has been set by taking all trade bodies, stakeholders and foreign missions on board,” the minister remarked. “Our policy focus is on diversification and sophistication of exports.”

In the short term, the government will push for export of basmati rice, horticulture, meat and meat products as well as jewellery to target markets in Iran, China, Europe and Afghanistan.

However, the policy offers nothing specific for the textile industry. The minister justified that by saying that textile was dealt by a separate ministry that offered a special package for exports.

A plan is being adopted to make inroads into the markets of Africa, Commonwealth of Independent States and Latin America. Wow! The Cwapistanis are showing off their great knowledge of Geography. These will be tapped through market research, opening new trade missions, holding exhibitions, exchanging delegations and developing linkages through the Export-Import Bank.

PCB decides to sack head coach, chief selector, captain

LAHORE: In the wake of national team’s continued poor performance in the Asia Cup and now in the World Twenty20, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to sack the head coach, chief selector and captain of the team, according to sources.

The sources said that the PCB is not satisfied with the performances of head coach Waqar Younis, chief selector Haroon Rasheed and captain Pakistan T20 team Shahid Khan Afridi and decided to sack them.

Moreover, it has been decided to dismiss Haroon Rasheed also from the PCB employment.

Ex-Pakistan soldier planning terror attacks in Delhi: Security agencies - ToI

The Delhi, Punjab and Assam police have been alerted about a former Pakistani soldier gaining entry into India through Punjab, with the intention of carrying out terror attacks in hotels and hospitals in the national capital during Holi.

In a communication, the central security agencies said Mohammad Khurshid Alam alias Jahangir, an ex-military personnel of Pakistan Army, who had worked as a recruiter, coordinator and guide of Jehadi elements in Assam, had crossed over to India from Pakistan through the India-Pak border in Pathankot on February 26 along with six hardcore terrorists. {The three already supposed to have been eliminated without anybody knowing that, along with these seven, make up the mythical ten which was the number the Pakistani NSA generously told our NSA three weeks back, I suppose. The numbers tally. I think the foundation is laid for a great anti-terrorism collaboration with Pakistan. Ma'asha Alla'h.}

"The intention of this group is to kill citizens in Delhi in hotels and hospitals on or before Holi," the communication said.

The agencies said Alam had visited a madrasa in Barpeta district in Assam in September 2015.

The ex-Pakistan armyman had stayed in the madrasa for five days and thereafter left for Chirang district, bordering Bhutan.

Alam had used another madrasa in Dhubri district in Assam as his base and used to visit other parts of the state, it said.

In Dhubri, a teacher of the madrasa provided all required logistical support to Alam, the communication added.

MOSCOW: At least 138 Pakistani nationals were detained by security forces at the airport in Russia for over 22 hours before some of them were sent back to Pakistan.
The Pakistanis were mobile phone dealers and had arrived in Moscow to attend an annual convention. Sources said that some of them were kept in a room without food and water for hours. Of the detained persons, 80 belonged to Karachi, 35 are from Lahore and the rest from Islamabad.

According to Russian officials, the traveling Pakistanis did not have confirmed hotel bookings prior to their arrival. The officials said that confirmed bookings and 100 percent payment is necessary prior to arrival in the country.

A video posted on social media by one of the detainees showed the group of Pakistanis in a small room with barely enough space to fit in. The man recording the video claimed that some Turkish nationals were also detained earlier but they were later let go

Incoming Myanmar minister ‘discovers’ his PhD is fake

YANGON: Myanmar’s incoming finance minister said on Wednesday he was shocked to discover his PhD was fake after netizens pointed out he had been a victim of an alleged scam run out of Pakistan that ensnared thousands of others.

An official CV issued by the NLD shortly after the cabinet announcement stated he held a PhD from a college in the United States called Brooklyn Park University.

IMO, Myanmar should lodge a formal protest with the Paki Govt with a copy to Dawood Ebrahim !!!

But social media users quickly pointed out that Brooklyn Park was one of a number of “fake online organisations” allegedly created by a Pakistani group that ran a “fraudulent degree empire” out of Karachi until its exposure last year.
“I openly admit it that I studied at this fake online university in my older age,” Kyaw Win, who confirmed he would take on the finance portfolio, said.

He explained how, like many others in junta-run Myanmar, he had a thirst for education but little opportunity to study abroad.
“Education has been my dream since I was young. I never stopped studying my whole life. But I could not study abroad because I did not have enough money,” he said.
Kyaw Win said he did not discover the degree was fake until the news spread on Facebook after his cabinet nomination on Tuesday, an experience he described as “really painful”.
