Terror Structure There make it Easy to Disappear in Didiland ?
ICC shifts India-Pakistan World T20 venue to Kolkata

KARACHI: Owing to security concerns, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday moved the venue for India-Pakistan World T20 match to Kolkata from Dharamsala, which is scheduled to take place on March 19.The ICC made a formal announcement at a hurriedly convened press conference in New Delhi.“The decision has been taken to relocate the India-Pakistan match from Dharamsala to Kolkata for security reasons,” chief executive of the cricket's governing body, David Richardson, told reporters.“The bottom line is ... security is paramount and it's a difficult decision, not one that we wanted to make because we wanted to stick with the original plan but one we've been forced into.”The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) now awaits the Government of Pakistan's approval to send its team to participate in the tournament. The development comes after the PCB put on hold the departure of its men and women's teams for the World T20, asking for the match to be re-located due to security reasons. The Associated Press on Wednesday quoted a PCB official as saying that the ICC had been asked to consider Kolkata or Mohali as alternate venues for the March 19 match against the tournament hostsThe official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak publicly on the subject. The Pakistan squad had been scheduled to travel to Kolkata on Wednesday for its opening group match on March 16.

China helped Pakistan block India’s NSG membership bid: Aziz - PTI, The Hindu
Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Tuesday said that China had helped Pakistan in blocking India’s bid to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

India has been seeking membership to the 48-member club, whose members can trade in and export nuclear technology..

While countries like the U.S. have backed India’s membership in the NSG, China has only offered conditional support to New Delhi.

China’s Foreign Ministry had called for “prudence and caution” over expanding the NSG.

When asked if China wants to back any other country’s entry into NSG, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying had said, “As for the expansion of the group, the members should make the decision on consensus after thorough discussions. India’s inclusion into this group is an internal matter of the group. It needs prudence and caution and thorough discussions among all members.”

“We support such discussion and we also support India’s inclusion into this group if it meets all the requirements,” she had said.

Pakistan says if it is deprived of the NSG membership while India is accommodated, it would be taken as discrimination and lead to imbalance in the region.

Let's remember that among the P-5, China is the only country that till to date does not recognize India as a nuclear weapons state and refuses to engage with CBMs on this issue.

After Obama's forceful talk in Siri Fort in Jan 2015 wherein he promised the full support of the US in making India enter the NSG (and Wassenaar, AG & MTCR), the Chinese reaction to these developments was predictably negative. The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said, “We believe that such (an) inclusion should be conducive to the integrity and effectiveness of the regime and decision should be made on consensus. We notice India’s commitment to relevant issues. We support the group to include new members and we support India to take further measures to meet the requirements for the inclusion in the group.” The reference to the decision having to be consensual means that China would have to be involved and it had its own reservations on the issue. Also, the reference to India having “to take further measures to meet the requirements for the inclusion in the group “ meant that in China’s judgement India did not meet the standards set for admission into NSG. The reference to “new members” indicated that China would bat for Pakistan in the NSG.

Islamabad to extend military cooperation with Riyadh

ISLAMABAD: The country’s top civil and military leadership has decided to expand its engagements with Saudi Arabia and will offer military training to the Saudi troops, provide it military hardware and share intelligence. This was decided on Tuesday during a meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the PM House.According to sources, the participants discussed the prime minister’s and army chief’s two-day visit to Saudi Arabia – starting from Wednesday (today). During the visit, Pakistani leadership will offer to expand its cooperation with Saudis apart from its support for the 34-nation coalition of Islamic countries cobbled together by Saudi Arabia to fight terrorism.Sources said during their visit, the civil and military leadership might offer a long-term training programme for Saudi Arabia’s military. Sources said Pakistan and India have agreed to hold a meeting of both the prime ministers during the Nuclear Security Summit to be held from March 31 to April 1 in the USA.

AFAIK, the Saudis do not rely upon the Pakistanis to give them 'military training' in traditional areas. The new training therefore can be related to setting up a 'strategic forces command'.

Pakistan demands ‘explicit’ security assurance, defers cricket team visit
Hardening its stance, Pakistan on Wednesday deferred the departure of its cricket team to India demanding “explicit” security assurances.

“Pakistan is still waiting for an explicit assurance from the Government of India about security of its team and Pakistan spectators. Without that Pakistan team is unlikely to participate in the Twenty20 ICC World Cup,” a diplomatic source told The Hindu soon after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that the cricket team will not travel on Wednesday.

“It should be clear that we are not satisfied with the security available in Dharamshala for the March 19 match and as a result we are not sending our team for the Twenty20 ICC World Cup, as of now,” Amjad Bhatti, the spokesperson of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told The Hindu.

The uncertainty over the India-Pakistan World T20 match in Dharamshala was cleared on Wednesday when ICC CEO Dave Richardson announced that the match, to be played on March 19, would be shifted to Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

"We welcome the decision to shift the venue from Dharamshala to Kolkata, but a final decision to send the team will be taken after we are satisfied of the security arrangement on the ground," Mr. Bhatti said.

Pakistan’s Twenty20 team was expected to travel on Wednesday for the T20 ICC World Cup but Mr. Bhatti said that the security team, which came to India on Monday, had not sent a positive report on the security situation in Dharamshala.

“We can not take chances. Cricket is far from politics and diplomacy, but can impact ties between two countries,” he said, indicating that the people-to-people ties need more support from the Governments.

New Job Offer For "Bad Sharif"
Gen Raheel being pressed to become head of 34-country alliance after retirement

WASHINGTON: The alliance of 34 countries is pressing General Raheel Sharif to become the military alliance’s coalition commander-in-chief after his retirement, revealed US military and political sources.
The 34-country alliance would take actions against terrorists, who have made the lives of people miserable in member countries.

So, does this mean that just like his own country, Raheel has "sold" himself on a personal level to the Saudi led coalition
The importance of the new military alliance could be judged by the fact that its formation was announced by Saudi Defence Minister Muhammad Bin Salman in Riyadh during a press conference.
[b]He could be the future king of Saudi Arabia. Sources said Pakistan’s military leadership’s neutral policy towards Saudi Arabia and Iran would remain intact and this office would not cause any change in policies of the Pakistani military.

1. So, according to the Pakis, the Iranis would overlook this pretense of neutrality and deal with them on "business as usual"; this is pure wishful thinking IMO.
2. And Since this "report" is out of Washington, it is presumed that it has Massa's blessing ?

We will dig up Eden Gardens pitch if Pakistan team comes: ATFI
KOLKOTA: Anti-Terrorist Front of India (ATFI) , which has been stridently opposing the Pakistan cricket team playing in India, on Wednesday (March 9) threatened to dig up the pitch at Eden Gardens here that is hosting the high voltage India-Pakistan tie in the World Twenty20.
The ATFI has been opposing hosting of the Pakistan team until the terror masterminds behind the Mumbai, Pathankot and the recent Pampore attacks are handed to India by Pakistan.
"Hosting of Pakistan in India is a grave insult to all our brave soldiers who were martyred in these attacks. We will not allow the match at any cost, we will dig up the Eden pitch, there will be massive protests," said ATFI national president Viresh Shandilya. "The ATFI now is holding a meet to decide our course of action.
How can the Indian cricket board be insensitive to undermine the tears of widows of our martyrs? We will hold protests across Kolkata including the airport," he added. The organisation had also threatened to dig up the pitch at the HPCA stadium in Dharamshala which was scheduled to host the March 19 India-Pakistan match. Citing security reasons, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday relocated the India vs Pakistan group stage match to Kolkata.

Life, for the Paki Cricket Team, has suddenly become very difficult

PAKI CONSPIRACY THEORY # 1

Inside Story Of Shahbaz Taseer's Release?

A friend who works in the office of a Corps Commander told me Taseer was kidnapped by LeJ Quetta Chapter and he was released as part of a prisoner exchange held by the Army. He was held in Mastung for the majority of his Captivity. Government feared his captors would kill him in revenge for hanging of Qadri so they agreed to a Prisoner Swap to ensure his safety and moral of security forces.

PAKI CONSPIRACY THEORY # 2

EXCLUSIVE: The real story of Shehbaz Taseer revealed for the first time

Lahore (Staff Reporter) – Sources close to Shehbaz Taseer have finally revealed the true story of his abduction and recovery for the first time since his return from Quetta, and it is an amazing story.
Related: Abducted son of Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Taseer recovered from Balochistan
Shehbaz Taseer was kidnapped by an unknown group on 26th August, 2011. According to the sources, the people who kidnapped Taseer were mostly of Uzbek origin and first they took him to the border areas between Pakistan and Afghanistan, and then to Afghanistan. Shehbaz Taseer then spent roughly four years under the custody of the Uzbek fighters in Afghanistan. This Uzbek group, which had no affiliation with the Afghan Taliban and operated independently, eventually became involved in fierce fighting against the Afghan Taliban.
After receiving heavy casualties in the hands of Afghan Taliban, what was left of the Uzbek group decided to flee to safer locations. After almost four years of captivity, Taseer was handed a Klashnikov by the Uzbeks and set free in an unknown location in Afghanistan.
The rest of the story might give spoilers for Mr Taseer’s imminent book, but it goes like this: After being handed a weapon and set free near a random village in Afghanistan, Taseer stumbled upon the real Afghan Taliban, who did not believe his story at first. He had escaped from one captivity into another, albeit a less unpleasant one, it seemed. He spent 6 months with the Afghan Taliban after which he met a man from Haqqani network, who finally corroborated his story.
Shehbaz Taseer asked this man to get his message across the border to Pakistan and after some persuasion and 3-4 more months, this man was finally able to send Mr Taseer’s message to relevant people in Pakistan after which his arrangements for recovery were made.
According to the recovery plan, Taseer was given 15,000 Rupees by the Afghan Taliban and transported to a safe-house in Kuchlak, Balochistan and left alone. He simply walked out from the house and went to the nearest hotel to get some food and make a few calls. At the Saleem Hotel, where Shehbaz Taseer had lunch, he borrowed a phone from the waiter to make a call to the only number he could remember, his mother’s, and the rest, as they say is history.
There are many conspiracy theories and versions of this story circulating on the social media because so far the true story had been kept under wraps for unknown reasons. Whatever the reasons may be, Shehbaz Taseer has been through a great ordeal and has survived, we hope that he recovers from the trauma and tells his amazing tale of hope in the face of adversity.

PAKI CONSPIRACY THEORY # 3

Wusatullah Khan of BBC says Shahbaz Taseer was released voluntarily but ISPR is claiming all credit for it, just like they did in Bacha Khan university

PAKI CONSPIRACY THEORY # 4

Shocking pictures show Shahbaz Taseer being tortured by kidnappers

Pakistan tells US lawmakers terrorists trying to undo their state
WASHINGTON: Pakistan has reminded US lawmakers that terrorists have killed thousands of Pakistani soldiers and civilians only because the country supports the US-led war against terrorists.
In a letter to a senior Republican Senator, Rand Paul, Pakistan’s Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani referred to a US intelligence document, which quotes Osama bin Laden as asking his followers to attack the Pakistani state and it’s military because of their anti-terrorism partnership with the United States. (forgotten that OBL was "sheltered" by the Paki State )
Senator Paul leads the congressional campaign to block a proposed sale of eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.
He sent a letter to his colleagues earlier this week, claiming that it was “past time” to demand accountability from Pakistan whose “coziness” with terrorists has harmed the US military.
Senator Paul has also introduced a joint resolution of disapproval in the Senate, which may come up for hearing this week.
"Trump Sarkar" is needed to set the Pakis right !
Senator Paul is using the obscure Arms Export Control Act of 1976 to try and stop the sale, labelling Pakistan “an uncertain ally”, which could not be trusted with sophisticated US weapons.
Ambassador Jilani, however, reminded Senator Paul that Pakistan had lost nearly as many soldiers fighting the terrorists as the United States.
But the ex -ambassador of Pakistan to USA just recently stated that it would be a " mistake" to sell Pakistan these planes !
“Why has Pakistan paid this staggering price in human blood? The answer perhaps lies in the brochure ‘Jihad in Pakistan’ that was found by the US forces from Osama bin Laden’s compound in May 2011 and released last week by the office Director National Intelligence,” wrote the ambassador. :((
In this 42-page booklet, the Al-Qaeda leader gives a detailed blueprint on how and where to launch the jihad against Pakistan and its military.
“We have to launch raids against the Pakistani Army that is deployed on the Indian border, because these are vast desert battlefields areas and it will be easy to target them,” OBL wrote.
He noted that through its concerted military campaign over the past decade, Pakistan had nearly cleared terrorists from its side of the border with Afghanistan.
What he means is they have Carpet bombed civilian areas and "created" IDP's in the name of "fighting terrorism"; and therefore the equipment is needed for that plus to keep pace with India !
The US support, he said, was an investment in the regional peace and was critical for its own security.

Pakistan F-16 Sale Survives US Senate Dogfight
http://www.defensenews.com/story/defens ... /81602882/

WASHINGTON — A measure to block the $700 million sale of eight US F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan was scuttled in the US Senate on Thursday, though US financing for the deal was on hold.Senate Foreign Relations Chairman Bob Corker, whose committee has jurisdiction over foreign arms sales, said he will maintain a hold on the US subsidy for the jets over Pakistan’s “duplicity” in the US-backed war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican and one-time presidential candidate, mounted an effort to halt the jet sales, citing its human rights record and intelligence community’s support of the Afghan Taliban.“They take our money, take our arms and laugh in our face,” Paul said, adding later: “Pakistan is at best a frenemy — part friend and a lot enemy.”On Thursday, Rand’s procedural call for a Senate vote to end the sales died when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called a successful vote to table it. The vote was 71-24.
Both Corker, R-Tenn., and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s ranking Democrat, Sen. Ben Cardin of Maryland, have a hold on the US subsidy, aimed at applying pressure on Pakistan. Corker did not specify what actions Pakistan can take to lift the hold.“I have issues with Pakistan too,” Corker said. “It’s actually a difference of tactics. I’d like to try to encourage some behavior changes and I think withholding the financial component is a much better way of doing that.”Corker cast the sale as a choice between publicly embarrassing a nuclear Pakistan and driving it toward Russian- or French-made jets, versus securing US leverage over the uncertain ally through its reliance on the US for maintenance over the Lockheed-made jets’ lifespan. These operations are in the national interests of Pakistan, the United States, NATO, and in the interest of the region more broadly,” David McKeeby, a spokesperson for the State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, said in a statement.

Friday Fireworks !- Colonel gunned down in Peshawar
PESHAWAR: A Colonel of the Pakistan Army was killed when unknown assailants targeted him near Ring Road in Peshawar's Hayatabad area on Friday.
SP Peshawar Cantt Kashif Zulfiqar told DawnNews that Colonel Tariq Ghafoor, resident of Hayatabad Phase VI area, was on his way to a nearby mosque to offer Friday prayers when he was targeted by unknown armed men.
SP Kashif further said that the attack might be result of some personal enmity.
Spokesperson for the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant group, Muhammad Khorasani, claimed responsibility for the attack in an email sent to journalists.
Colonel Tariq Ghafoor was posted in Quetta and was in Peshawar on a personal visit.
So going by this, appears to be a well planned operation !

Pakistan historic ally, India strategic partner :D : Saudi minister
JEDDAH (Web Desk) – Saudi Arabia’s relations with Pakistan do not come at the expense of the Kingdom’s ties with India, Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said during his recent visit to New Delhi.
During an interview with The Times of India, the Saudi minister also expressed hope that Indian premier Narendra Modi’s first visit to Saudi Arabia early next month would see a “tremendous uplift” in bilateral relations.[/quote]
He pointed out that Saudi Arabia has extensive economic relations with India. “We are the largest supplier of oil to India.
“We have a community of almost 3 million Indians. They are our doctors, bankers, engineers and teachers. They are by far the most peaceful non-Saudi community and we appreciate all their contributions to Saudi nation and society. They are an important bridge,” Al-Jubeir said.
When everything is said and done, the Saudis will "depend" on the Pakis for "of the shelf" nuclear option!

I always of the opinion that science was anathema in Malsi, where the Aam Abduls in Pakiland still yearn for Djinn technology for producing electricity, where their "scientist" have succeeded in producing car fuel from water.
And not to forgot that the chief honcho of Malsi,(sitting in the Land Of The Two Holy Mosques) still issues fatwas insisting that the sun revolves around the earth !

Hate to say this for someone who's departed, but Colonel Tariq Gafoor must be involved with some very naughty naughty nasty stuff for someone to go after his life.

Going by what Pak Fauj is doing in KP, one suspects the worst possible human rights violations and killings. This is where the Ford foundation should go and dig out mass graves

Why are the porky dorkies in Pakhistan making videos threatening PM modi?
It would appear that ISPR has roped in vernacular urdu/pashto press to give out statements threatening Pakistan, that are attributed to PM Modi.
The aim is twofold
1. To create hatered for India and the supposedly Indian sponsored TTP, who the fauj claims are "Indian-agents"
2. To show that the downhill skiing expert Pak Fauj is the arm that is doing difa of Pashtoons from Kafir India and its PM Modi

They seek to undermine the genuine aspirations and freedom struggle of the Pashtoon Nation from Pakistan, for merger with pashtoon lands in afghanistan. This is a historic struggle, now that the durand line has lapsed, Pakistan's continued possession of KP is illegal

Never Ending Ordeal Of South Waziristan IDP`s
More than 434,000 people remain displaced from South Waziristan, more than six years after a military operation was launched in the area to clear it of militants, officials and displaced families have told Tanqeed.
Interviews with the internally displaced people (IDPs), state officials and political leaders from the area, which is part of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), reveal that thousands of the displaced continue to live in miserable conditions, hoping to one day be able to return to their homes.
But the ISPR- the propangandu unit of the Paki Fauj paints a rosy picture of the situation !
Most of the IDPs live in areas adjoining South Waziristan, including Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, but others have gone as far afield as Quetta, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and even Karachi. So far, authorities say that 2,800 families – or about 19,600 people – have been repatriated to the areas of Chagmalai, Sararogha, Sarwakai Shahoor, Mandana, Siplatoi, Spinkai Raghzai and Kotkai.
The Rah-e-Nijat military offensive began in October 2009, triggering a mass exodus from South Waziristan, the birthplace of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and home to several other militias.
After the initial flood of IDPs first left the tribal area, the FDMA had promised they would return within two weeks. Today, six years on, the vast majority remain displaced.
In those six years, IDPs say, they have lost everything: their businesses, livestock, access to education, and even their homes, many of which have either been washed away in flooding, or destroyed by shelling.
Moreover, many told Tanqeed that they were regularly discriminated against by law enforcement and state officials, who alleged that they had links to militant organisations, in their areas of relocation.
Slowly and surely, they are alienating all non-Pakjabi sections of their society
According to the FDMA, around 28,000 families (or 196,000 people) are currently living in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan districts without access to a regular source of income. Many have established their own small businesses to make ends meet, including tea stalls and kiosks. Others drive rickshaws or work as daily wage labourers.
“We have sacrificed our today for a prosperous tomorrow of the country. But we are shocked to see the behavior of our officials toward us. We have sacrificed everything but in return we are facing with only humiliation,” said Awal Khan Mahsud, who runs a tea-stall in Dera Ismail Khan.
Life was difficult for him, Awal Khan said, stressing that between paying Rs10,000 rent and his household expenses, he was barely able to make ends meet.
“We are leading refugee lives in our own country,” said Rehman Gul, another IDP. “Why have the authorities concerned left our area neglected for years and why did they not develop the region at a time when it is part of Pakistan?”
Kherullah Mehsud, from the village of Dwatoi, drives home that point.
He said that if the people from his area were not rehabilitated, both mentally and physically, then the inevitable result would be “a state of extreme hatred and rage.”
In other words, the pakhtun code - Pushtunwali- with its attendant tenet of Badal ie revenge will be fully implemented !

Selective Mourning After Peshawar School Attack
On December 16, 2014, over 130 children were killed in cold blood in Peshawar’s Army Public School in one of the worst attacks of Pakistan’s recent history. There were warnings and signs in the wake of the Pakistani military offensive, Zarb-e-Azb, in North Waziristan, but such a large-scale massacre of children was unimaginable for us
The nation demanded blood. The army immediately carried out strikes in Khyber Agency killing dozens of people they claim were “militants.” The government and military lifted the eight-year moratorium on executions. One of the first to be executed was Dr. Usman, a former deserted solider turned Taliban/militant who was one of the people involved in attacking the military’s headquarters in October 2009. Yet, it remains unclear whether the vast majority of people on death row even deserve to be there. Meanwhile, the prime minister and major political leadership rushed to Peshawar to condole with the grieving parents, and politicians called for an all parties conference to formulate a national response.
The consensus that emerged consolidated plans for more violence by the state. It included the proposed executions of over 8000 people on death row, intensifying aerial bombardments in the Tribal Areas of North Waziristan and Khyber Agency, setting up military courts and invoking Article 245 of the constitution. We should not forget that we recently enacted legislations like Protection of Pakistan Act 2014 giving wider powers of arrest, detention and special trials before special judges.
These decisions should force us to query why it is only now that Pakistan feels compelled to respond to terrorism and why we seem to think these actions are the appropriate response.
Good question; the Paki army preferred revenge and therefore executed all and sundry in revenge executions !
Scores of people have also died in various military operations in the last decade including earlier operations in North and South Waziristan, and Swat. So, why respond now?
The answer probably, partly, lies in story of Farid Ullah, a retired Frontier Constabulary subehdar. In May 2014, amidst the talk of a possible military operation, Farid Ullah was worried about the well-being of his family. He journeyed from his village Mosaki in North Waziristan to the neighboring district of Bannu to look for a shelter for his family where he could house over three dozen of his family members. They might not be comfortable in Bannu but at least, they would survive and live long enough to go back to their home in Waziristan. While Faird Ullah was house hunting in Bannu, Pakistan Air Force jets bombed his village targeting some suspected militants in retaliation for an attack on armed forces on a check post earlier. The bombing also destroyed four of Farid Ullah’s houses and with it, killed over 22 of his family members including eight women and seven children. When Farid Ullah returned home with news that he had found a place in Bannu where his family would be safe, there was no one left to receive it. Farid Ullah lost his sanity that day. Yet, the mainstream media, which even reports loud farts in our major cities as breaking news, did not bother to even run a ticker about the incident.
It appears that we have decided to count only our losses — and when I say “ours,” I mean those of us living in the cities like Islamabad, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi who belong to a certain economic class. When a civilian life is lost in the Tribal Areas – for instance, when civilians or even children get killed in Waziristan – that is not a national concern. No eyebrows are raised, no accountability is sought, and any mention of such deaths is brushed aside. This division between “us” and “them” constructed through class privilege, geography, and ideology has brought us to a point where it is not human life as such that matters but which human that matters.

The army is alienating all sections of non-Pakjabi society

...
Similarly, the lawyers in Peshawar offered funeral prayers for Osama bin Laden in the vicinity of the Peshawar High Court.
So, terrorism is not a problem of FATA or Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa alone. It is all over the country. The Punjabi militants are the worst in their ruthlessness and their recruitment is far greater than those of groups in Waziristan. To deal with violence through violence means we will only get violence in return. As Martin Luther King Jr. aptly pointed out in 1963: “Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction … The chain reaction of evil – hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars – must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.”
Short of engaging in enduring solutions, we are simply mired in gimmicks that will only fool ourselves.

Pakistan's Apartheid Regime As Per A Tribal Resident

Pakistan’s Apartheid Regime

I come from the ‘tribal’ area, and I can testify that the content and the argument is valid and true. When I was studying in Lahore, I have had a hard time to convince my friends that your protests against terrorism will lead to more deaths of innocent people. That’s what happens usually. An attack in the cities is responded with killings in FATA.
Though there are militants in FATA yet that is no justification for indiscriminate military operations for in the area. Places in other parts of the country are home to lethal militant groups but no actions is taken there. It leads us to your point- political apartheid.
I think of FATA as an internal colony of Pakistan. We are good as long as we serve the state’s interests; for instance, we make it to legislature, bureaucracy and military but we have to keep our mouths shut about FATA.
Thank you for writing for the people of FATA. I hope someday we would be able to live a decent and dignified life, at least in the political sense.

Full Article Posted on the Pakistani Economic Stress Watch Thread

Trade deficit widens 4.22% to $15.1 billion
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s trade deficit worsened to $15.1 billion in the first eight months of the ongoing fiscal year, as the government failed to exploit opportunities in the shape of steep decline in global crude oil prices and duty-free status for its exports to the European markets.
For this year, the government has set the economic growth target at 5.5%. :rotfl:

The operative para in the above is this:

And finally, I wondered, what happens when an ideology of hate is no longer just coming from the mouths of Saudi-funded clerics but has infected the body of the people? What do you do when the madness is not confined to radical mosques and madrasas, but is abroad among a population of nearly 200 million?

The answer to that question is known., and the other answer on the question who will do it is also known - no one wants to do it. So how do you solve this? Simple., open up the karakoram and push them deep into Cheena.

He loses his way in the last two paragraphs. Islamism today is not Islamism yesterday, he claims. Freedom and liberal ideas are western ideas, he claims. Wrong on both counts, but its the rag NYT so he may have lowered his standards.
