CHINA LOOKS FOR NEW WAYS TO HELP RUSSIA IN SYRIA AS U.S. BACKS ISRAEL AGAINST IRAN

China is looking to expand its support for Russia in Syria's prolonged civil war as regional powers Israel and Iran escalate a long-running feud that threatens to further destabilize the war-ravaged country.

Chinese Special Envoy for Syria Xie Xiaoyan told Russian state media on Sunday that he saw opportunities to expand China's role in Syria, where Russia is helping Syrian President Bashar al-Assad overcome rebels and jihadis in the wake of an attempted 2011 uprising backed by the West, Turkey and Arab gulf states. While China has not played a significant military part in the seven-year conflict, it has supported Moscow and Assad diplomatically and begun to invest heavily in the reconstruction of Syria.

"The relations between China and Russia imply a sweeping strategic partnership and collaboration. We are constantly in touch and conduct consultations. Each side contributes to the Syrian problem's settlement," Xie said, adding that there was "huge space" for further cooperation, according to the state-run Tass Russian News Agency.

"I assume that both sides should continue assuming efforts in such areas as protection of the ceasefire regime, a responsible ceasefire resolution compliance, promotion of the political process, as well as regarding the issues of postwar recovery," said Xie.

the battle of yarmouk camp is over. the remainder ISIS will be sent to the desert in 2 batches of bus trips.

the main highway damascus-homs has also reopened after many years as the northern homs rastan pocket took the green bus.

this leaves only daraa in the south and idlib in the north. idlib now seems to be a turkish protectorate with the sultan promising to manage the assorted bandits there. some parts like al ghab plains and jisr al shugour might be taken by syrians with turkish concurrence to better secure the coast.

analysis of the upcoming fight in daraa and makes a point we already know logically - without building up c3i, pantsyr and buk lower tier weapons, just dropping in a S300 system or two will not be useful for the syrians.

took a while but i found a pic of how the pantsyr is reloaded. looks like the system has 4 x 3round wine bottle racks of missiles and rack can elevate or depress on its own. its likely prefilled "clips" of 3 tubes could be lowered by the crane into its frame or single tubes which would take much longer for 12 tubes. the 3 round mag strategy can probably be done in under 30 mins if a reload vehicle is on standby at a hiding site.
on exercises in russia, pix show 6-10 of these vehicles march together carrying 12 each....perhaps thats show russia AD regiments organize. there would be comms, 3D radar, metereology, EW, commander and reload & repair vehicles

Image

they have also put the system on a towed snow cat tracked trailer for arctic use as also the Tor.

to cover reload times as trucks move offsite and offline, others in same vicinity would need to take over, as with all SAM systems.

we would be using our trucked akash both on airbases and hidden in areas along ingress axes further away, with launchers spread out but cued by same C3I network to start targeting inbounds well before the inner layer of akash's engage.

The militants of various terrorist groups operating in the north of Syria began spreading rumors about the Russian-made anti-tank missiles Kornet-D, which went into service with Syrian government troops. This is reported by the Telegram-channel Directorate 4, which monitors the activities of terrorists.

As the channel notes, as evidence of the use of the upgraded version of the ATGM, jihadists publish a photo of one of the destroyed pick-up trucks that belonged to the Jays al-Izza group. As a result of this attack, four members of the group were liquidated. At the same time, according to some sources, the impact of the car was caused from a distance of more than seven kilometers.

In addition, the militants report and other cases of attacks from a long distance, which they previously mistook for air strikes, writes Directorate 4.

"Cornet-D" - modernized version of the Russian ATGM "Cornet". The shooting range is up to 10 kilometers, armor penetration is 1.3 thousand millimeters behind the dynamic defense.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:10 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) elite Tiger Forces division has been given orders to redeploy from the northern countryside of the Homs Governorate to the southern provinces of Syria.

According to a military report, the Tiger Forces will lead the offensive to retake the rebel-held areas in the Dara’a and Al-Quneitra governorates.

The Tiger Forces will be fighting alongside the 4th Mechanized Division and Republican Guard troops that were recently taking part in the battle for southern Damascus.

With Damascus and Homs secured, the Syrian Army can now concentrate on southern Syria for the first time since the arrival of the Russian military in late September of 2015.

Washington (CNN)Vice President Mike Pence warned North Korea that it could end up like Libya if it fails to make a nuclear deal with the United States.

"There was some talk about the Libyan model last week, and you know, as the President made clear, this will only end like the Libyan model ended if Kim Jong Un doesn't make a deal," Pence said in an interview that aired Monday evening on Fox News.
When it was noted that the comparison could be interpreted as a threat, Pence replied: "Well, I think it's more of a fact."
President Donald Trump's national security adviser John Bolton's comment that the Trump administration is looking at invoking Libya as an example on how to conduct a potential nuclear agreement with North Korea was met with concern from the Kim regime.
A North Korean official said Bolton's comments were indicative of an "awfully sinister move" to imperil the Kim regime.
Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi agreed to abandon his nuclear ambitions in exchange for sanctions relief in the early 2000s. Within years, Gadhafi was overthrown and killed by rebels backed by Washington.

Is Pence spewing fumes from his nether orifice or what?
No better way ghan to scupper the talks.I would advise "Stumpy" to hit the pause button as he plans to blow up his N-testing site in a grand gesture of peace not Pence!

We've coined a new meaning for the word that describes a coin in the dictionary! "Pence", the opposite of "Peace".

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:20 A.M.) – The Russian military unleashed their wrath over the Idlib Governorate, tonight, targeting several areas controlled by the jihadist rebels in the western part of the province.

According to a Syrian military source in Latakia, the Russian military began their attack by launching several airstrikes over Idlib city, Idlib Central Prison, Al-Mastouma, Ariha, and Sheikh ‘Ali.

Following the airstrikes, the source stated that the Russian Navy fired a number of cruise missiles towards these same areas in Idlib, resulting in several explosions.

The Russian assault was conducted in retaliation for militant attempt to attack the Hmaymim Airport with a drone earlier tonight

Up to 106 military personnel were given aggravated life sentences for attempting a coup that killed 250 people in Turkey on July 15, 2016.

Investigations made by Turkish authorities revealed that the coup attempt was carried out by Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), which used infiltrators in the military to seize power.

Izmir was one of the critical locations, serving as “a base for logistics” for coup plotters, according to prosecutors who say that putschists coordinated travel of military units to other cities from military bases in the city.

Izmir, Turkey’s third largest city on the Aegean coast is home to several key military bases, including Çiğli, the air base where a team of putschists assigned to kill President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan gathered.

Istanbul. 24 May. Interfax - The S-433 anti-sabotage ship of the Black Sea Fleet on Wednesday proceeded through the Black Sea straits into the Mediterranean Sea, heading for Syria, Istanbul Internet portals reported publishing photographs of its passage through the Bosporus Strait.

According to the Russian classification, the anti-sabotage boat of project 21980 Grachonok is designed to protect water areas of naval bases of the Russian Navy, to combat sabotage and terrorist forces and assets in the basins of the basing points and close approaches to them.

On Wednesday, also through the Black Sea straits in the Mediterranean, the rescue marine tug of the Black Sea Fleet "Shakhter" proceeded.

In addition, on Wednesday a large amphibious ship of the Russian Navy Nikolai Filchenkov entered the Mediterranean. According to the Istanbul websites, the Black Sea Fleet's combat ship Nikolai Filchenkov is going to the Syrian port of Tartus, where the logistics base of the Russian Navy is located in the Mediterranean.

According to foreign media reports, the BDK and vessels of the Russian Navy auxiliary fleet, as well as chartered vessels, participate in an operation called the Syrian Express to deliver cargo to the Russian air group at the Khmeimim air base, the logistics base of the Navy in Tartus and the Syrian government army.

al masdar news

BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) will lead the upcoming southern Syria offensive, despite reports from pro-opposition accounts regarding a Hezbollah-Iranian build-up.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army’s 4th Division and Tiger Forces will take the lead in the first phase of the Dara’a Governorate offensive.

The source added that the Syrian and Russian military commands are focused on reconciliation and do not want the Israeli forces to get involved in any of the upcoming battles.

The large amount of Syrian soldiers heading to southern Syria will also be enough for this upcoming offensive, as they are no longer tied up in Homs and Damascus.

American Raptors based in the United Arab Emirates have flown a number of sorties into Syrian airspace, both as a show of force in response to the Russian military presence in the country and to strike targets of Islamist insurgent groups. Prominent figures in the U.S. Air Force leadership have noted that deploying the F-22 for combat operations to the country, where Russia has deployed extensive surveillance equipment including some of its most advanced air defence radar systems capable, has seriously undermined the platform’s viability by providing Moscow with valuable intelligence on the aircraft. U.S. Air Force Lt. General VeraLinn Jamieson stated to this effect: "The skies over Iraq and specifically Syria have really just been a treasure trove for them to see how we operate. Our adversaries are watching us, they're learning from us... Russia has gained invaluable insights and information with operating in a contested airspace alongside of us in Syria." The secrecy of the elite fifth generation fighter’s manoeuvres, radar evading systems and weapons deployment were lost - a major blow to the effectiveness of the air superiority fighter. Russia was able to test the limits of the Raptor’s stealth, learn how the platform was designed to operate and better develop countermeasures against the F-22. It could potentially even use this information to incorporate successful aspects of the design onto its own next generation fighter.

Considering the magnitude of the loss which resulted from deploying the F-22 for combat operations to Syria, and the ‘treasure trove of information’ provided to America’s adversaries, deployment of the F-35 for combat operations to the very same warzone just months later remains highly unlikely. Radar systems from Russian S-300V and S-400 air defence systems are able to cover all of Israeli and Lebanese airspace and the vast majority of Syria itself. Flying the F-35 on combat missions over this area would inevitably provide Russia with valuable information regarding the fighter’s capabilities. Iranian air defence systems are also reportedly active in the region, and the chance to test anti stealth measures against the F-35 could well prove a major asset for Tehran - arguably outweighing the losses incurred from Israeli airstrikes.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:00 P.M) – The jihadist rebels in the Aleppo Governorate have stepped up their attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) amid the latter’s recent troop build-up in the northwestern part of the provincial capital.

According to a military source in Aleppo, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham launched several attacks against the Syrian Arab Army troops and residents of Aleppo city on Thursday, prompting the latter to respond with heavy barrage of missiles and artillery shells on Kafr Hamra and Al-Laymramoun.

The source added that the jihadist specifically targeted the government-held areas on Al-Neel Street and the Al-Zahra’a Association Quarter.

In the coming weeks, the Syrian Army is expected to kickoff their offensive to finally expel the jihadist rebels from the northwestern corridor of Aleppo city.

The purpose of this offensive is reopen the Aleppo-Gaziantep Highway, which was agreed upon in the latest round of peace talks in Astana
