ISIS tried a sleeper cell tactic in Quraytyn well WEST of palmyra, but reports say these cells have been thrashed by SAA reentering the town which they had vacated due to reconciliation agreement.

to end the war, syrians need to think a bit more conventionally now... ignore Idlib for some time .build up 2 armoured brigades , one on east bank under Zahreddine and one in T2 under another able leader and release them to roll up the ISIS with ruaf support. Tiger forces can continue in their distributed mode and foray east from the Euphrates in wide pincers to deal with both the SDF and ISIS ... they are also needed to cleanse north Hama.

the republican guard formations tied up around Damascus should be freed up as no real threat exists to damascus anymore. some of them are good exp in urban fighting and can help with capturing DEZ city LATER - its a monkey trap best avoided for now, laid by the SDF to keep the SAA embroiled in urban warfare. assad should welcome the SDF to try taking DEZ city if they want, they have been struggling to recapture the smaller raqqa for months now.

Putin is relentless in pursuing Russian interests. He took a big gamble with his intervention in Syria, but superb planning in advance by the Ru mil forces has seen Russia,Syria and pro-Iranian mil forces rout the ISI and western.Sunni coalition supported anti-Syrian rebels and mercenary forces combined!
Now that Russia has replaced the US as the dominant power in the region, the one that gets things done,a sea-change is taking place in the Arab world. The principal nations are now hedging their bets looking towards Russia who've established their supremacy in the region.Turkey has ditched the EU for better relations with Russia and now the Saudi monarch is going to Moscow to confabulate with Putin. With the mil. phase of the war almost over in Syria, the diplo-political war now begins. After all wasn't it Clausewitz who famously said that "war is politics buy other means"?

Putin as aid before has seized the opportunity without any timewasting. As the UIS struggles to keep its diplomatic compass point steady, whether it is reg. Syria,China or NoKo,Russia is swooping down with its simultaneous diplomatic offensive. The stakes are very high. Putin is trying to establish a new order in the region,so that tensions can reduce and the nations get down to the business of "business" ,making money and creating wealth and prosperity.Of course Russian arms manufacturers wil also benefit in the bargain! This is why India should be wary of dumping the FGFA JV with Russia as there is nothing else ready to replace it,no even the yet to be perfected JSF,at horrendous cost too, while China has commissioned the J-20. Should we withdraw, others may step in.

PL. read the interview in full,It is a lengthy one but sheds light on many important issues like the Afghan war,OBL,9/11,Qatar,origins of Daesh/ISIS,Yanquis in the region, oil, etc.

‘Faced with Russians & Iranians 24/7’: Israel calls for US to be more active in Syria

https://www.rt.com/news/405540-israel-s ... ran/
The Israeli defense minister has urged Washington to engage more in Syria, where President Bashar Assad "is winning." The official has asked for increased US involvement, saying Israel is struggling to deal with the "Russians, Iranians, and also the Turks and Hezbollah."

"We hope that the United States will be more active in the Syrian arena and in the Middle East in general,” Avigdor Lieberman said in an interview with Israel's Walla news on Tuesday.

“In the northern arena, we are faced with the Russians, Iranians, and also the Turks and Hezbollah. The public does not know everything and it's a good thing, but it's an investment and an effort 24 hours a day, seven days a week."

The minister went on to express his apparently grave concerns that "in spite of everything, Assad is winning the battle." He also called the situation in Syria "one of the greatest absurdities."

"The United States has quite a few challenges of their own, but as a trend, the more active the US is, the better," Lieberman said.

According to the right-wing Israeli official, “suddenly everyone is running to get closer to Assad,” including countries in the West “queuing” to win the Syrian president’s favor.

In another unfortunate scenario for Israel, the situation in Syria has led to widespread Iranian consolidation, according to Lieberman, who is known for his harsh statements and anti-Iranian stance.

Despite Israel generally not being involved in the Syrian war, there has long been a concern that the situation would see some of its main foes – Iran and Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant organization designated as a terrorist group by Israel and the US – gain a foothold of power in Syria.

Claiming “errant projectiles” from Syrian territory have reached Israel, the IDF has on several occasions targeted positions of the Syrian Army and allied forces. The Israeli military have also targeted military convoys within Syria, claiming they were carrying weapons for Hezbollah.

In a recent development in the region, Israel endorsed a referendum on the creation of an independent Kurdish state, despite a number of other nations having condemned the vote. Having warned that the Kurds' independence drive is a threat to the whole region, the Hezbollah chief, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has called the referendum a part of the US-Israeli plot to carve up the Middle East, saying that those nations are back on course to plunge the region into chaos by sowing division.
For Isreal, this is par for the course and the reason I don't consider them a friend of India. Isreal will arm and support any Islamist terror group that can wreak havoc and bring about anarchy, and they will do it even on their own borders. Isreal has a secure border, so they're happy to support the likes of Al-Queda or ISIS even in their own neighborhood. Doing so does not make Isreal more vulnerable; indeed Isreal knows they're such a hard target that they need not even fear blowback. They can have ISIS sitting right on their border and be no less safe than normal. No, what the Jews hate more than anything are secular, moderate Arabs because that variety of towel head is vastly more organized and likely to oppose Isreal's foreign policy. The Jews love Islamists and if they deem it useful, will happily support Pakistan and muslim terror groups operating against us in Afghanistan or even on our own territory. Isrealis have no use for Indian lives and cannot be trusted. We're fools to think otherwise. Just my opinion; I know most of you will disagree.

the sea commandos are funded by the brother of the discredited desert hawks billionaire oil baron who relocated to russia until things cool down. some elements of the demobbed desert hawks were merged into sea commandoes and some into other regular saa units i believe. the leadership might have been spread around similarly.

Sputnik

Konashenkov noted that the attack on terrorist targets in the city of Mayadin was carried out to support the offensive of the Syrian government troops in Deir ez-Zor.
Konashenkov said the launches of 10 cruise missiles were made from a submerged position, adding that objective control equipment confirmed the destruction of all assigned targets.

"Daesh terrorist group in the area of Mayadin suffered significant damage, both in manpower and hardware," he said.

palmyra sukhnah road is opened.

sukhnah onward the road is closed. the town is under attack from 3 sides by mobile daesh units armed with mortars and ZSU23mm cannons. so far the motley collection of iraqi mukhabarat shield, afghan fatimid and palestini militias holding it have managed to hold off the attacks. help is being sent from the west via reinforcements flown into T4 or driving up from damascus.

in the east, the lead element of tiger forces/repub guard on south bank is 5km from al mayadeen. if they besiege mayadin and circle back toward T2, another huge isis pocket including the rats attacking sukhnah could get bagged.

As standard armament IN Kilo carries 5 Klub and Russian Kilo carry 8 Kalbir but that is standard for Syrian deployment they will likely carry more kalbir then torpedoes.

From article about "calm before storm" in the NoKo-SoKo thread
Trump said "tremendous progress" had been made with ISIS, adding, "I guess the media's going to be finding out about that over the next short period of time." He also said Iran should not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.
So pentagon/GOTUS actively worked against Russia's takedown of ISIS, to the extent of doing a Dostum airlift on ISIS leadership, and now is taking credit for crushing ISIS. All that remains is a hollywood flick with some action hero in his underwear machine gunning down ISIS for this US farce to be complete. (corrected: "gunning down ISIS in his underwear" suggested ISIS gaining access to action hero's wardrobe)

raqqa siege has now completed its 120th day.

iraqis are in process of crushing the hawija pocket.

after that its the vast deserts of dez, anbar and nineveh left for the remnants to play insurgents in
