Heading to Tartous from 'Novorossiysk'

The air cargo continues to happen in Syria non stop, from yesterday and today so far:

1) Yesterday a RuAF il-76 arrived in Syria through the Turkish air space but didn’t land in Khmemeim AB, rather landed in a Syrian AB.

2) Yesterday, RuAF tanker escorted fighters to Syria and went back to Russia through Turkish air space.

3) A smaller An-74 was spotted today over Syria, it could be from Russia or Iran, 8 tons cargo is very small for large weapons, so most likely bringing troops.

A 4min ride that many Syrians dreamt to do in the past 7 years….the international Damascus-Homs highway opened for civilian traffic, it shows how quickly the Syrian Govt put to work after liberating areas, several East Ghouta cities are getting power and water back as well. The buildings will take the longest time, some will never be recovered.

Further south, ISIS is taking a serious hit by the Republican Guards and 5 Palestinian armed groups, among them Liwa al Quds, a branch of Tiger Forces are moving from Eastern Qalamoun to Yarmouk camp. ISIS won’t hold much longer.

A backstage info is that the Syrian/Russia Gov’t was trying to cut a deal with ISIS from Yarmouk to be transferred under US/SDF protection in Deir ez Zour, but it caught serious opposition from the Iraq Govt at the CC 4+1, and the deal went south. ISIS will die in Yarmouk or full surrender and brought to justice. Worth noting that over half of ISIS in Yarmouk are in fact Palestinians from the area and from Jordan, meaning we will see a real war between Palestinians from 5 pro Syria militias against ISIS-Palestinians.

The Syrian-Palestinian militias will emerge very strong when the war of aggression against the Syrians is roughly over in the west/south of Syria (not far from it), it will have lasting implication for Jordan (30-40% of its population is Palestinian), Jordan has now 10M migrants and simply can not cope with its accelerated population growth, internal struggle will be coming to Jordan in few years.

A brief inventory of all the eastern qalamoun weapons surrendered to SAA

48,000 Tank projectiles
42,000 Artillery projectiles
6,800 Grad missiles
1,400 Konkurs missiles
8 Cobra missiles
36 Scud missiles
12 Katyusha / BM-21 launchers
38 Tanks
Dozens of BPMs/Trucks/Jeeps/Technicals

Most of the above was stolen from a partial raid in the 559 Brigade (weapons warehouse that happened in 2014), the terrorists managed to break in and stole dozens of tanks, missiles and ammo. Since Eastern Qalamoun was in a sort of mild reconciliation from late 2015 to now, most of the heavy weapons were lightly used, and basically they are all in good state, meaning ready to go to battle after a quick check up.

the iraqis have a tidy fleet of f16, hind and mi28 gunships and frogfoots.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – For the second week in a row, the Iraqi Air Force has carried out airstrikes against the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group inside Syria.

According to local reports, the Iraqi Air Force’s airstrikes targeted the Islamic State’s positions inside the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

In particular, the Iraqi Air Force has been targeting the Islamic State’s movements around the Syrian-Iraqi border, with a strong emphasis on the Albukamal-Qa’im area.

The Iraqi airstrikes have proven to be effective, as reports from Deir Ezzor indicate that the Islamic State’s second-in-command was killed during this morning’s attack.

This is funny way but OPCW confirm Russians have not clean up the Duma Site

Prankers Vovan and Lexus announced that they had talked with the head of the OPCW

MOSCOW, April 23 (Itar-Tass) - RIA Novosti. Russian prankers Vladimir Kuznetsov (Vovan) and Alexei Stolyarov (Lexus) called the director of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Ahmet Uzumju, on behalf of the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Moravetsky. The recording of the conversation is published on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhGLJ82rAFs

During the conversation, Uzumj stated that Russia does not interfere with the work of the organization's experts in the Syrian Duma and does not try to "clean up" the scene of the incident.

"We've heard these speculations from several countries, and we can not confirm it," says the interlocutor of the prankers.

According to him, Russia wants to help the OPCW "develop and ensure security", which "officially notified" the organization.

"And we hope that in the current circumstances we will be able to carry out our work and complete the mission," he said.

In order to fully understand the Ghouta military operations, one ought to take the time and watch the unedited 1:30 hour video documenting the first scenes from Jobar after the Syrian Army took control of the area

The History of the war in Ghouta may have turned out differently had the State not decided to flood Jobar with water back in Feb 2016 when it decided to destroy part of the extensive Tunnel system under the entire region.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (9:30 P.M.) – Missiles fires by rebel fighters in northern Latakia countryside on Hmeymim airbase were successfully intercepted by Russian air defenses as the government forces gain ground across the war-torn country.

The missile attack was preceded by an attempt by rebels to attack the coastal airbase with an armed drone, which was also shot down.

the french bore the brunt of Russian electronic warfare ?

At first, Russia declared that it could not detect a single missile from France on the NATO attack day, which was interpreted as a slap in the face of France by Russia. Now it comes out that France was indeed unable to shoot a single missile on Syria.

A French plane was unable to fire one of its missiles, and was obliged to jettison it out to sea without triggering it, and that two French multi-mission frigates suffered a computer failure and were unable to fire their naval Cruise missiles — these are symptoms that are well known by anyone who has had to face up to the Russian inhibitor weapon.”

No wonder then that macron was livid and wanted to bomb syria and invade it immidiately thereafter.

Disappointing, habalji. Right instincts but wrong method guessed by your intel sarbhij.

The real story is known to UBCN. Le Rookskiez put "La Novachuque" or whatever in Le Champagne and made the entire ship's crews "go" at launching time. They were phyrring the wrong Le Rocquettes. Le Rafales, well.. they had La Stinque Pakistanique big-time when they landed.

But.. seriously, I believe that Comrade Putin made a phone call to M. Le Presidente Marcon a day or 2 b4 the "strikes" and conveyed some truths. It is well-known that a direct hot-line connection was established for "de-conflicting" between France and Russia just b4 Strike Din.

So I believe that the French ships and planes got orders at the very last minute to "have technical problems". They are no doubt livid about it, hence you are right about Macron running to DC with tail between legs to :(( and  Can't do anything else: Putin clearly told him that Le Force de Frappe and La Paris would be Les Crappes if any French missile was launched.

Hence the calm announcement that "Hey, the French did nothing.".

And what areas it cant retain due to other factors: US, Turkey, Kurds, Martians...

The sectarian terror group won’t be defeated by the western states that incubated it in the first place

The war on terror, that campaign without end launched 14 years ago by George Bush, is tying itself up in ever more grotesque contortions. On Monday the trial in London of a Swedish man, Bherlin Gildo, accused of terrorism in Syria, collapsed after it became clear British intelligence had been arming the same rebel groups the defendant was charged with supporting.

The prosecution abandoned the case, apparently to avoid embarrassing the intelligence services. The defence argued that going ahead with the trial would have been an “affront to justice” when there was plenty of evidence the British state was itself providing “extensive support” to the armed Syrian opposition.

That didn’t only include the “non-lethal assistance” boasted of by the government (including body armour and military vehicles), but training, logistical support and the secret supply of “arms on a massive scale”. Reports were cited that MI6 had cooperated with the CIA on a “rat line” of arms transfers from Libyan stockpiles to the Syrian rebels in 2012 after the fall of the Gaddafi regime. .

Clearly, the absurdity of sending someone to prison for doing what ministers and their security officials were up to themselves became too much. But it’s only the latest of a string of such cases. Less fortunate was a London cab driver Anis Sardar, who was given a life sentence a fortnight earlier for taking part in 2007 in resistance to the occupation of Iraq by US and British forces. Armed opposition to illegal invasion and occupation clearly doesn’t constitute terrorism or murder on most definitions, including the Geneva convention.

But terrorism is now squarely in the eye of the beholder. And nowhere is that more so than in the Middle East, where today’s terrorists are tomorrow’s fighters against tyranny – and allies are enemies – often at the bewildering whim of a western policymaker’s conference call :rotfl: .

For the past year, US, British and other western forces have been back in Iraq, supposedly in the cause of destroying the hyper-sectarian terror group Islamic State (formerly known as al-Qaida in Iraq). This was after Isis overran huge chunks of Iraqi and Syrian territory and proclaimed a self-styled Islamic caliphate.

The campaign isn’t going well. Last month, Isis rolled into the Iraqi city of Ramadi, while on the other side of the now nonexistent border its forces conquered the Syrian town of Palmyra. Al-Qaida’s official franchise, the Nusra Front, has also been making gains in Syria.

Some Iraqis complain that the US sat on its hands while all this was going on. The Americans insist they are trying to avoid civilian casualties, and claim significant successes. Privately, officials say they don’t want to be seen hammering Sunni strongholds in a sectarian war and risk upsetting their Sunni allies in the Gulf.

A revealing light on how we got here has now been shone by a recently declassified secret US intelligence report, written in August 2012, which uncannily predicts – and effectively welcomes – the prospect of a “Salafist principality” in eastern Syria and an al-Qaida-controlled Islamic state in Syria and Iraq. In stark contrast to western claims at the time, the Defense Intelligence Agency document identifies al-Qaida in Iraq (which became Isis) and fellow Salafists as the “major forces driving the insurgency in Syria” – and states that “western countries, the Gulf states and Turkey” were supporting the opposition’s efforts to take control of eastern Syria.

Raising the “possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist principality”, the Pentagon report goes on, “this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran)”.

American forces bomb one set of rebels while backing another in Syria

Which is pretty well exactly what happened two years later. The report isn’t a policy document. It’s heavily redacted and there are ambiguities in the language. But the implications are clear enough. A year into the Syrian rebellion, the US and its allies weren’t only supporting and arming an opposition they knew to be dominated by extreme sectarian groups; they were prepared to countenance the creation of some sort of “Islamic state” – despite the “grave danger” to Iraq’s unity – as a Sunni buffer to weaken Syria.

That doesn’t mean the US created Isis, of course, though some of its Gulf allies certainly played a role in it – as the US vice-president, Joe Biden, acknowledged last year. But there was no al-Qaida in Iraq until the US and Britain invaded. And the US has certainly exploited the existence of Isis against other forces in the region as part of a wider drive to maintain western control.

The calculus changed when Isis started beheading westerners and posting atrocities online, and the Gulf states are now backing other groups in the Syrian war, such as the Nusra Front. But this US and western habit of playing with jihadi groups, which then come back to bite them, goes back at least to the 1980s war against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, which fostered the original al-Qaida under CIA tutelage.

It was recalibrated during the occupation of Iraq, when US forces led by General Petraeus sponsored an El Salvador-style dirty war of sectarian death squads to weaken the Iraqi resistance. And it was reprised in 2011 in the Nato-orchestrated war in Libya, where Isis last week took control of Gaddafi’s home town of Sirte.

In reality, US and western policy in the conflagration that is now the Middle East is in the classic mould of imperial divide-and-rule. American forces bomb one set of rebels while backing another in Syria, and mount what are effectively joint military operations with Iran against Isis in Iraq while supporting Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against Iranian-backed Houthi forces in Yemen. However confused US policy may often be, a weak, partitioned Iraq and Syria fit such an approach perfectly.

What’s clear is that Isis and its monstrosities won’t be defeated by the same powers that brought it to Iraq and Syria in the first place, or whose open and covert war-making has fostered it in the years since. Endless western military interventions in the Middle East have brought only destruction and division. It’s the people of the region who can cure this disease – not those who incubated the virus.

Libya has been destroyed as a functioning state and some 9ish factions rule various parts of the map - allied along ethnic, jihadi, oil companies, pro UAE militias, pro Qatari militias, pro Egypt militias or tribal lines. the ancient sands of the sahara as usual are lawless in the extreme .... a slave route skirted the sahara on the south east west.

libya is a huge country and in the adjoining vast lands of the sahel and maghreb new strains of the virus are incubating or being incubated ..... boko haram in nigeria is just one strain of it. covert strains are being cooked up for sure.

US Special Ops Command: Electronic Weapons Are ‘Disabling’ US Aircraft in Syria © U.S. Air Force
MILITARY & INTELLIGENCE

The commander of US Special Operations complained during a recent speech in Florida that electronic weapons are “disabling” US aircraft flying in Syrian airspace.

"Right now in Syria we are operating in the most aggressive [electronic warfare] environment on the planet from our adversaries," General Raymond Thomas said during a speaking engagement at the US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation on Tuesday.

"They are testing us everyday, knocking our communications down, disabling our EC-130s, etc." the general said, referring to the US Air Force's Compass Call electronic attack aircraft, Breaking Defense reported. Some reporters attending the event heard the general say AC-130. These gunships also used in US special ops and have at least one electronic warfare officer on their flight crew lists, according to a US Air Force fact sheet.

It's not clear who exactly Thomas meant when he said "enemies," but Russia is known to have developed advanced EW capabilities, according to EW specialist Lauri Buckhout, a retired US Army colonel. "The Russians have redone and reengineered their entire EW fleet in the last 20 years… The Russians put in millions on upgrades after Georgia," the veteran told Breaking Defense, in reference to the 2008 conflict in the South Ossetia and Abkhazia regions, which Georgia claims as part of its territory but whose self-determination Russia supports.

"They've ended up with killer capabilities, jamming in a multitude of frequencies for hundreds of kilometers," Buckhout said, clarifying that there are other vulnerabilities in US systems that Russian electronic weapons could target, too.

Instead of jamming an EC-130 in a head-to-head fashion, there are easier ways to degrade US capabilities, according to Buckhout. The specialist explained, "The problem the EC-130s have is that, while they are jamming, the crews aren't doing much else… they could have gone after the [position, navigation and timing equipment] or the comms."

Russian forces "know all of our vulnerabilities," the retired US colonel added.

Strategic analysts in the United States observe that one of the most remarkable aspects of Russia's EW capability is how widely integrated it is across domains. "We can't just strip out the EW capability and look at it separately (from) cyber, SIGINT (signals intelligence), air defense," Roger McDermott, a fellow at the Hudson Institute in Washington, said at an event in February.

"It's found throughout every arm of service, every branch of service, it's almost impossible to avoid EW capability, which very much contrasts with western militaries," he said.
