Levant crisis - III
Re: Levant crisis - III
So far tonight it has shown that their iron dome sucks, Israel is wide open for massive missile attacks, they can not defend their sites against hundreds or thousands of missiles. Syria has fired some 50 missiles and iron dome was overwhelmed in the Golan. Israel has only two options from here. Either it has to double down and do a frontal attack or it has to fall back. In the former case it may risk getting a beat down of a lifetime and if latter it is going to be a loss of face for it in the region.
Re: Levant crisis - III
According to Al Mayadeen, the militants took advantage of the Israeli missile strikes to try to seize the Syrian army positions.”

Twenty three fighters were killed in the attack, according to the Syria Observatory for Human Rights.
Lebanon's Al Mayadeen, a TV network viewed as pro-Assad, Hezbollah and their allies, reported that 28 Israeli F-15s and F-16s took part in the strike, firing more than 60 missiles. Russia's Defense Ministry says Syria shot down more than half of Israeli missiles fired in the strike.
Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Thursday morning that Israel has struck "all of the Iranian infrastructure in Syria." Lieberman said that Israel does not seek escalation, but added that it won't allow Iran to turn Syria into a "forward base" against Israel.

Some 28 Israeli aircraft fired around 60 air-to-surface rockets in a massive overnight strike in Syria, according to the Russian Defense Ministry. Syrian air-defense systems managed to intercept more than half of the missiles.
A total of 70 projectiles, including 60 air-to-surface rockets and more than 10 surface-to-surface missiles, hit Iranian military targets and Syrian air-defense systems near Damascus and in the south of the country on Thursday morning, the Russian military said in a statement.
“28 Israeli F-15 and F-16 planes were involved in the attack,” the ministry said. “Syrian air-defense systems shot down more than half of the rockets as they repelled the Israeli attack.”
Israeli forces bombed the Syrian territory for two hours between 1:45am and 3:45am local time on Thursday. The attack was carried out under the pretext of allegations that Iranian forces had earlier hit Israeli targets in the Golan Heights.
The damage inflicted on Iranian military and Syrian civilian infrastructure by the airstrikes is being evaluated.

Re: Levant crisis - III
This is still right along the DT brinkmanship scenario (unless total war actually erupts). Russia is clearly not interested in escalating commitment in Syria, and Israel/US are betting on that. NATO ex-US is clearly **NOT** interested, but cannot avoid getting sucked in. KSA is sitting on a soosai vest here: even with news blackout, people will know now that Bin Salman is in the goat-shed with NutNYahoo, while herrowic Syrians and Iranians are emigrating to Houristan by the thousands on the front.
NutNYahoo's credibility depends on Disproportionate Escalation (and eye and a hand and a foot for an eye). Which sounded good until Gen. Vodkov came in. Now the prospect is for escalation up to and including tactical nukes (TN), if he provokes Putin too much. As UBCN pointed out earlier, I think today the superpowers will go to tactical nukes with confidence that they can stop there, AS LONG AS the mushrooms are on someone else's garden. ME is not Oirope unless the big oilwells get hit. If it goes to a TN exchange, Israel's survival is in deep doubt, and I think the successful penetration of Syrian missiles into Haifa etc underline that point.
Now the DT gamble is that better sense will prevail in Jerusalem/TelAviv and they will suddenly find "evidence" in the investigation against NutNYahoo and cart him off to jail, forcing a NoConfidence Motion and Regime Change. Getting from there to hugs with Ayatollahs is still a long road, but crazier things have happened in Korea.
Putin no doubt would like to reserve his retaliation for Ukraine and Yemen: the long-sought Pipeline To the Indian Ocean and a Base at the mouth of the Pesian Gulf, is getting closer.

other than Israel no one possibly has TN in ME which won't be needed due to Israel's (read US) vastly superior airpower.
Key takeaway for Iran is not to rely on Ru beyond a point since every one is guided by their own interest.
Ru should try to broker peace even if it means Assad has go into a safe asylum and change of power in Sy.

One peculiar thing about ME is no matter what umma sub sect one follows there is massive anti Israel pro Palestine symapthy.
Hence Saudi aligning with Israel might be an understanding at supreme level, there will be undercurrent of disapproval from kabila people.
Yes Shia led Hexbollah, Iran, Lebanon, Sy taking on Israel will generate sympathy for them even amongst Sunni countries in ME.

– Russia completes delivery of first regimental set of S-400 to China — source –
http://tass.com/defense/1003625
the S200/300 story in Syria
- Syria and according to many sources was interested in buying the S-300 system from #Russia along with the Mig-31 Mig-29M2 and Yak-130 in 2009-2010
- according to those sources #Syria signed the contract of the S-300 and transferred the entirety of the system price to #Russia
- #Syrian officers were sent to #Russia to train on the system, and they completed their 6 months training
- after the war in #Syria began #Russia scrapped the contract due to western-#Israeli political pressure and re-transferred the payment to Syria to be used to strengthen the exhausted Syrian economy.
- in 2013-2014 the Syrian Army was losing ground and air defense- radar bases were lost, so #Syria stored most of its air defense system in depots in safe areas to prevent the terrorists from acquiring them.
- this step plus the losses of AD-Radar bases led #Syria to be weaker than ever to the Israeli attacks during 2012/13/14.
Back then #Israel was kinda free to strike any point in Syria when ever they want, with little or no interception.
- after the Russian intervention in #Syria, #SAA started to gain ground again which led to re-gain strategic mountain and AD bases, and the SAA began to re-deploy their AD assets again.
- Syria started to use its soviet made and modern #Russian made AD systems, to repel & intercept the hostile #Israeli and western attacks on #Syria
- the Soviet made S-200 scored many hits at the Israeli jets including the F-35 and between 2016 and 2018 5 Israeli jets were reported shot down by the Syrian AD systems, but #Israel only admitted losing an F-16
- the S-200 systems in #Syria were previously modernized but those systems faces many flaws, ex: being a fixed system and hard to replace its damaged components. Not to mention the imminent lack of missiles.
- #Israel and during every major clash with #Syria, was always able to score a hit on the system’s radar knocking it out from the service for a day or two. So Syria badly need a replacement for it.
- after the #US led strikes on #Syria which happened a month ago, #Russia again stated that they will re-enhance the Syrian AD capabilities and supply Syria with the long waited S-300, but Russia didn’t confirm supplying it so far, why?
- well, deploying the S-300 would be the last stage of re-enhancing the Syrian AD capabilities, first Syria must retire its old Soviet systems such as the SA-2 the fixed SA-125.
- #Syria must rebuild and reuse its newly re-captured radar station/AD bases ie: #East Ghouta and #Daraa #Homs Countrysides
Then must adapt new #Russia/n made communication/anti-jamming/EW system
- fortify their AD bases and learn from the #Russia/n experience in #Khmemeim AB in #Syria
Then and only then deploy the S-300, so it will be secured against the air threats, and will be working along with modern AD/communications/EW systems to ensure the maximum effectiveness
- to summarize all mentioned above, adapting a modern long-range anti-air system (S-300/400) must be the final stage of rebuilding re-enhancing the entire air defense EW capabilities in #Syria.

There is strong talks on some forums today that Israel was actually very surprised with the Syrian reaction, it seems Israel’s provocations was not taking in consideration that sort of vigorous answer by the Syrian Govt, not the fact the most of their missiles were intercepted.
The day after shows a lot, Israelis have basically shut down all northern part of the country, schools, many companies etc…but in Syria, life goes on normally
Among many views related to yesterday, one thing is clear, this was the 1st time in 45 times of unilateral Israeli action that Syria has counter attacked Israel so aggressively, the last retaliations was always few shelling or bombs, not the few hours long retaliation, moreover the undertone is clear, Syria is prepped to escalate, Israel’s “free walk in the park” provocations are over.

Re: Levant crisis - III
This is from a small post on the SAA FB page. It reflects well the sentiment of many Syrians today after last night Israeli aggression. There is an awesome sense of pride of a good job done. let their words sink for a minute.
“Do you realize what it means for a country that had been at war for 8 years to do what Syria did last night?!
What it means for an Army to be fighting a war for 8 years and still launch missiles at several enemy military locations then foil over a 100 stand-off missile fired at his?!
Do you realize what it means when the single most sophisticated air force in the region and one of the most sophisticated air forces in the world does not dare to approach anywhere near the Syrian Airspace and fire all their attacks from at least 100+km distance?!
The Israelis had their calculations in 2006 and everyone saw how it turned out for them, they had their calculations today and they are attempting to comprehend what does Syria hide that after 8 years of internal war, Syrian Military can still fire over 40 missiles at 4 of Israels military establishments in the occupied-Golan Heights and foil all of the attempts of the Israelis to carry out a successful strike against Syria.”

Syrian MoD has also said that will confront from now onwards every single Israeli provocation.
This is clearly a new policy and a new ROE, definitively not what Russia was advising Syria and Iran on regarding not to retaliate.
What we saw yesterday, could be a shift in how the war of aggression inside Syria will be dealt with, some perspectives on what is to come could be:
1) Golan Heights will be under constant attack if Israel continues to provoke.
2) Southern Lebanon may see action as well if Hizbollah’s assets are targets.
3) Northern Israel became a war zone designated area under the new Syrian ROE and the previous Hizbollah ROE.
4) Syrian Govt in time, will fulfil its promise to liberate every single inch of Syria from occupiers, President Assad said it, in an interview yesterday, once more.
5) We will continue to see Iranian weapons shipped to Syria if not daily, it will be bloody frequent.
6) Russia’s “neutrality” between war among States vs war against terrorism in Syria, will be under constant challenge.

Interesting -timing. The Israelis have just released a video showing one of their missiles taking out a Syrian Pantsir system. The Pantsir is an old version without full radar coverage. The Israeli missile came in from the blind side. I guess the Russians will just have to supply a fully up to date version to replace it.
It was reported that the driver was going to refill its missiles after it had fired its load and got hit directly in the cab killing him.

From SAA Fb page
“A comprehensive report regarding what happened day-before night and yesterday morning.
– Late yesterday evening Israeli military conducted number of artillery strikes against a Syrian Army post in Khan Arnabea which led to SAA returning fire by firing number of mortars against the source of Israeli fire.
– The enemy did not stop its attack and launched number of recon drones to sweep the borders over the airspace of the occupied-Golan Heights without entering Syrian Airspace.
– Enemy brought a Merkava Tank which fired 6 random shots into al-Baa`th city in al-Quneitra which led to SAA’s Tank Hunters dealing with the situation according to the rules of engagement.
– Enemy fired a long-range Stand-Off missile into Damascus International Airport which was intercepted and destroyed by SyAAD ~30km Southeastern Damascus.
– The Syrian 7th Division was given an order to strike 4 Israel military establishments inside the occupied-Golan Heights; at 00:00 a barrage of 40 rockets were fired at the Zionist military establishments.
– Zionist airforce quickly escalated the situation by launching several long-range Stand-Off missiles at number of Syrian Targets in and around Damascus, and three targets in Homs.
– SyAAD foiled the first three waves of attacks by the Zionists which forced the Zionists to resort to surface-to-surface missiles.
– After the Israel's 3rd wave of missiles, the Syrian 7th Division was given another order to launch a barrage of 20 missiles at Zionist Military establishments in the occupied-Golan Heights.
– The number of Zionist war jets participated in the attack was ~30 jets, all of which fired their missiles from outside the Syrian and even Lebanese airspace and did not dare to enter either.
– Israel launched a 4th wave of missiles combined with decoy, surface to surface and air launched long-range missiles; and this was the wave that 4 of its missiles reached their targets and hit an SyAAD detection radar, an SyAAD short-range defense battery (seen in enemy footage) and two ammunition depots.
– No Long-Range SAM were fired at the Zionist jets although they were in range multiple times, and that is up to the Syrian Command’s rules of engagement to determine (Despite one’s feelings this is not a game, this is real war)
– To our knowledge, the majority of the Syrian missiles fired at the Israeli locations reached their targets.
– Syrian casualties were three martyrs.
With all do respect to all Syrian allies, the entire situation was dealt with by the Syrian Arab Army and under Syrian command’s orders.
We shared our losses, but we dare the Zionists to share theirs especially that all the targets the Syrian missiles hit were military targets in designated military areas; and we dare the Zionists to share proof of their successful interception of Syrian Missiles.

Re: Levant crisis - III
generally in better fleshed out AD systems, other batteries provide cover when some move out to reload. the syrians do not have enough numbers of SAM batteries and mobile radars.
nevertheless the israelis are now taking recourse to firing standoff missiles from their own airspace or over lebanon, a comedown from the days when they waltzed all over syria.
the iranians will perhaps bring in new technology radars to tighten the grid and launch periodic pinprick MLRS attacks over the golan to keep the israelis all worked up

Re: Levant crisis - III
Important short video to watch, the Syrian rebels traitors and terrorists are now blackmailing the coalition of evil idiots in exposing all the details of the CW false flags in Syria
“Is Theresa May continuing to fund White Helmets, despite evidence of their alliance to al-Qaeda, b/c otherwise they’ll expose UK involvement in staged CW attacks?
this clown will be encountered quickly by mossad or mi6, no way they can allow this to go on because in no way can large nos of weaponry be transferred to Syria since the frontline is now basically on the borders. Time running short for coalition of the killing.

this is not the first report of presence of Israeli weapons in rebel hands. In February, it was reported that the Syrian army stumbled onto warehouses that were stacked with weapons, some of which were Israeli-made, as they were inspecting the Al Boukamal and Al Mayadin areas in Deir-ez-Zor, which was liberated by the Syrian forces from ISIS in the fall of last year.

An intriguing report about the targets of the recent Syrian MLRS strike in the Occupied Golan. Should this be proved correct, Israel would have had a very bad day on May 9th.
The article claims that the Syrians targetted assets related to Israel’s Unit 9900, a highly secretive intelligence gathering, command and control outfit. It would appear several sites were hit disrupting the functionality of the unit. The article cryptically claims that the coordinates of the sites were provided by a third party – no names are mentioned !

Re: Levant crisis - III
Interesting if someone with Space and aerial assets starts providing target data to the Syrians, Iranians, and Hezbollah. Plus pass on some of those tens of thousands of mijjiles captured near Damascus.
Incoming mijjile!
No, it's one of ours! But what's it doing headed this.. *Bam!*
Re: Levant crisis - III
A somewhat ambiguous twitter post by Ivan Sidorenko (who has excellent, reliable sources within SyrAA), but seems to an accurate observation however speculative. His reference (to who I am not familiar with) suggests that all that is going on now is implementation of a prior agreement to settle things along the existing lines. Kurds/NATO will control east of the Euphrates. The Idlib/Adrian will remain under the control of Turkey- though with Syria retaking some portions of idlib such as the al-ghab plains. And Syria will retake everything else that is west of the Euphrates. The Syrian enclaves in Qamishli and Hasaka will be removed.
Not sure if any weight/credibility to this post. But if Syria or Iran is not fully agreeing to this plan, it would seem to fit the “pressures” that are being put out recently. I would be disappointed and surprised if something like this pans out.

Re: Levant crisis - III
Here’s a good recap and analysis of the small battle between the Israel and SAA,
http://thesaker.is/syria-imposes-new-ru ... on-israel/
Unfortunately, it omits the important ground assault–IDF terrorist proxies supported by IDF forces from Golan–and and counterattack that took place where at least one Merkava tank was eliminated and the terrorists repulsed. The author is correct that new Rules of Engagement are now in effect for dealing with Israeli attacks.
